Is there anyone out there with a guide to porting roms to the G2X???
There's no "real" guide for the G2x because honestly, the G2x is very difficult to port to.

The Gingerbread rom is available for download already in the O2X section. I downloaded it yesterday. It is 2.3.4 for the O2X. I am planning on porting it to the G2X just for the fun of it.

New one based on the new Italian 2.3.4 LG UI rom. The one I posted was ported from a prototype device made for Tracfone which is essentially identical to the G2X. The LG UI port will take longer, if I can get it working at all.

Maybe LG will give us ICS as a little Christmas present. They also said the o2x will get ICS. I just hope they don't put a custom overlay on that. I just wish ICS will only be completely stock.

The P999 ICS will be stock. The P990 ICS will most likely have the LG UI overlay and colorization.
Hey guys, jomeister here with a request for some dev help with porting Miuiv4 to our phones. I figure now that the ICS drivers has been released, and with my AOSP rom being updated soon, we might as well get down to business with some ICS Miui.
So far, I've been looking at this page here ------> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499411
And trying to use a phone with the msm8660 processor to port off, the evo 3d
here ------> http://www.goodandevo.net/2012/02/u...d.html?cid=6a00d83451c9ec69e2016301cbfba1970d.
So.... yeah, if you're willing to help me with this, please leave a comment so we can get started on some Miui goodness.
iandroidos I'm looking at you.
Hmmm I'll do a blind port with a few help from other friends of mine MIUI v4 will be simple since its minimal for now but not really simple.

As I'm reading the instructions, I'm starting to doubt more and more if this will work or not. The Evo 3D is a very different device... Not to mention that it's HTC, and not Samsung.
I'm downloading the Evo3D rom right now anyways. Going to try this.

Well, really the only difference between Miui and AOSP is the system/framework, some system/apps, and some other random files that aren't really that critical to the system. The Evo 3D actually not that different from our Skyrocket; they both have the same msm8660 chip.
Yeah... but still a very slim chance that it'll work.
I tried it, and as expected: softbrick
It didn't even post. o.o

We've been trying and so far, from what I know, we fixed surfaceflinger in the CM9 base but AtCmdFwd won't start. I believe it is because of libhardware_legacy.so

Hello, I have seen some ports from the Sensation forums and I was wondering if someone would be willing to create a guide on how to port them over. I know that the basics would be a kernel that would work and the keylayout file would also have to be modded. But thank you in advance to anyone who is willing to help
I believe tbalden and xmc would know this best. Have you PMed them?

Maybe just the really great ones would be OK. You really wouldn't want ROMs to start becoming generic replications of one another though. The process of learning to actually develope would start morphing into the ability to port someone else's work quickly. JMO tho....
The dsixda kitchen will do a basic Sensation ruu port. But your going to have to resize the HTC widgets and Rosie to like 0.88xxx or something like that, its been a while since I've ran m10 editor and I've never used VTS because I have Linux so that's all I know to offer

Hi there, just got a brand new LG Optimus 3D Max (p720h) and was lurking around to find out if I can remove my carrier's customs. I learned to root my device and uninstall some customizations using various tools around the market and forums like this.
I'm still struggling with some customizations like for example the boot image and categories within the app list, I think all my problems would be solved if I used a stock ROM, problem is that I can't find really any good guides for this device, I was able to find something on p920 but I'm not sure that would work:
tool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27004883
KDZ here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=10 (very sloooow download)
So I want to know if I could use those tools and kdz files I found or if there's another specific guide for my device.
Offtopic questions:
1. I heard Icecream Sandwich upgrade is planned for my device, is that true? Any news on that?
2. Would p920 cases fit my p720? Specifically talking about those wallet-like cases.

Thanks anyway, that seems to be a very useful topic.
OK so I came across a thread that said you would be able to run T-Mobile gs2 roms on skyrockets and I wanted to test it because I love the roms on the T-Mobile gs2. I grabbed the conversation file that the thread provided and I got the T-Mobile gs2 I wanted and began the process. I backed up my current rom and then wiped every thing. I flashed the rom and then the conversion file like it said. I rebooted the phone and it just sat at the Samsung boot screen. I thought it was normal so I left it there for a while and came back and it was still stuck there. Can the skyrocket really run T-Mobile gs2 roms? Did I do anything wrong in my process? I was able to restore to my previous rom so I'm not freaking out, but I really want to run the rom I found. Is there anyone that can help me? Please and thanks in advance.

Simple answer, you are flashing a TW based conversion kit to an AOKp based rom. Just use an AOSP, CM10 and alike kernel to that rom and you should be good.
Disclaimer: do this at your own risk.
