The Gingerbread rom is available for download already in the O2X section. I downloaded it yesterday. It is 2.3.4 for the O2X. I am planning on porting it to the G2X just for the fun of it.

New one based on the new Italian 2.3.4 LG UI rom. The one I posted was ported from a prototype device made for Tracfone which is essentially identical to the G2X. The LG UI port will take longer, if I can get it working at all.

Maybe LG will give us ICS as a little Christmas present. They also said the o2x will get ICS. I just hope they don't put a custom overlay on that. I just wish ICS will only be completely stock.

that is for nexus s.
nothing more needs to be said. would never work
I guess no one has ever ported app's to other devices?
since it is really only the update to google talk we are interested in not the radio and other b.s.
apps yes, kernels (from complete different devices) no.
so the 2.3.4 rom is useless without the kernel
otherwise we would have 3.0 honeycomb ported from honeycomb devices, and then we would say screw 2.3.4
its more than just the gtalk. otherwise it would just be an app update!
not saying that it would work but, there is no kernel in that update.
we would need top modify it EG: take out the radio.

Unless you installed a front facing camera on your galaxy s, 2.3.4 would be pointless (even if it was possible). Stick with 2.3.3 for now. I hear some very un-official rumors about 2.4 coming late this year or mid next year.

Anybody else using the Oct 24th baseband?

Sigh. Since Prada ICS is already out and as you mentioned the hardware is almost the same, why not wait 2-3 weeks for the O3D rom to be officially released? It would take nearly that much time to get a stable, working port anyway.

I wish that this was the case but given the fact that they have already missed their Q2 updates on other LG devices I can't see how they will manage to release ours within the scheduled timeframe. 2-3 weeks more like 2-3 months sadly.
It is not unreasonable to take a potshot at 2-3 weeks, at most a month for LG to release the O3D ICS rom, given that Prada and O3D are practically the same other than 3D and perhaps some other chips such as audio, GPS etc (maybe). Besides, they've already stated they're testing the rom now.

I wish I shared your optimism pandaball but every other update for our device has been delayed I see ICS being no different.
Well, I only hopped on the O3D bandwagon after the GB update came out so I don't know if the GB update lagged too. In any case, it remains to be seen
if someone makes the porting I feel happy ... LG will take at least another 4 months to release the rom "maybe"!
CM9 could work with the driver of the P940 ?

I will look forward in to it.
LG is surely gonna release another crappy rom.
the port will prob. be way better.
But i cant do it. Not a dev.
I only know much info about basebands and other stuff.
would be nice if we can make a port on the froyo baseband. no more ghostcalls and awesome aosp speed.
i dont really care about the 3d. i never use it. i know that it's the feature that makes this phone special.
but i dont really care about it.
Hope i can do something for the devs.
maybe thiaiz, meemo23 , pandaball and the other devs can team together?

There's no need for that mate. There are many stupid questions here, but calling someone stupid is just not necessary.
Wouldnt it need NFC as well?
My bad thinking of wallet...
Unfortunately Honeycomb and below is "dead" development, people are focused on doing more on ICS than anything.
When Eclair rolled out, development stopped on Cupcake and Donut, and now its quite hard to imagine someone still working on those old versions of Android. Well, looks like GB, HC, and Froyo is in that boat.
I suggest you get a new phone. (I need one too. I'm still stuck on gingerbread)

There was a Jellybean port to ARM6 devices tested on Galaxy Gio by some guy, Im sure we can make a Google Now port.
Well coming from a jelly beaned phone, you do need an arm7 and unfortunately, your phone doesn't have one. You can try porting it but it will come out with bugs.

I'm still holding out on a gingerbread port of it, though.

I believe Google Now is JellyBean specific. However, it's up to the devs to have it in a flashable zip or apk format for ICS devices.

Ewww...that's disgusting.
But as many people feel, I do not feel that someone will actually take the time to figure out how to do it. Do remember that the framework is VERY different. But I am not losing hope that someone....someone...will take the time and get this working. ICS is not as fast as GB on my phone. However, GNow is enough of a reason for my to flash ICS to my phone every few days.
(OG Evo 4G running Decks ICS - 7.09.12 build flashed with GNow)
So GNow is a ploy to get ppl to just buy new phones, that have ICS or better?
Well that's how I see it, the majority of ppl use gingerbread, why not cater to them gooooooooogle?? Its A shame they keep creating new os's like every year or so when phones last so much longer then that.
Offline dictation should of been available back back well there never should of been a connection dependent voice(voice search, dictation, voice anything from google) or w/e.
