Hi there, just got a brand new LG Optimus 3D Max (p720h) and was lurking around to find out if I can remove my carrier's customs. I learned to root my device and uninstall some customizations using various tools around the market and forums like this.
I'm still struggling with some customizations like for example the boot image and categories within the app list, I think all my problems would be solved if I used a stock ROM, problem is that I can't find really any good guides for this device, I was able to find something on p920 but I'm not sure that would work:
tool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27004883
KDZ here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=10 (very sloooow download)
So I want to know if I could use those tools and kdz files I found or if there's another specific guide for my device.
Offtopic questions:
1. I heard Icecream Sandwich upgrade is planned for my device, is that true? Any news on that?
2. Would p920 cases fit my p720? Specifically talking about those wallet-like cases.

Just found this www.lgmobiles.com/gsm/download/ and it seems like it has a s**tload of software and other things our devs could use. It even has an app called root checker or something similar. Can any of the devs take a look here?It also has dll files plus some mysterious tools (rambo tool, phone unlocking tools, service tools etc).It also has the original v20B as a zip and not as a kdz file.
P.S You can hit the thanks button if that helped

Davinci tool, rambo tool, service tool, LEO tool and so on... Have no clue what they are for... Downloaded everything that I could asociate to our phone plus all the tools (cause I don't know what they do) just in case it goes down and then people cannot download anymore. If anyone need anything at anytime feel free to ask

Hello everybody!
Recently saw an article talking about the update CyanogenMod Android for new devices. It is from 7.2 RC1 and also provides support to the device Lg Optimus 3D.
I have the version of this device P920h Brazilian, and I would enter this room on my machine without the risc of damage it or lose some functionality.
What you tell me about the update? Runs cool? worth it? is there any tutorial on how to give nothing wrong?
I also read on other forums that the 3D functionality is lost if upgrade to CyanogenMod. Could you confirm this news?
In CyanogenMod site has links to download all the room, already downloaded mine and am afraid to do some erroneous procedure without first consulting a specific tutorial.
I wait anxiously for hints on how to perform this installation without risk of brick the device!
Thanks guys!
Yes. 3D is lost with CyanogenMod.

hi
yesterday i used this rom and watched a 3D clip on it without
any problem!!
but i didnt test 3d games ! might 3d games doesnt run on it !
Well, 3D is not completely gone. You can take 3D pictures, but unfortunately you can't view them in 3D yet.
You can watch 3D videos and I think you can record them to (but not sure about it)
3D games and apps are not working and probably never will. They use LGs proprietary Real3D framework. As long as LG keeps that closed it can't be ported to other ROMs...
You can take 3D pictures with CM7.

Thanks guys!
It was all the information he needed.
Now the main one: How to upgrade to the CyanogenMod?
Anyone has tutorial on how to flash with this new Room?
Altair95, this room you have customized on your device?
What are your thoughts about it?
Thanks again guys!
Hey!!!
zwoggel as you did the update?
Please create a tutorial as it did!
I'm looking forward to flashing my phone too!
Download CM7.2 and Gapps, transfer to internal sd card, boot to cwm, wipe data/factory reset and wipe dalvik cache (backup apps using Titanium Backup), flash both CM7.2 and Gapps. How hard could it be?

Take a look at this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540163
If your phone isn't rooted take a look at point 3. on how to root.
After rooting you should install the Custom Recovery described in step 1
You can skip step 2, that is for installing official firmware.
After rooting and installing the recovery you can proceed like pandaball described.
Few questions
Hey all,
Just a few questions for people who have tried this.. do we know if this will work with the p925g? (Optimus 3D with rogers Canada) Also curious if a couple of critical bugs from the early builds are gone, namely the issue where if you format your SD card you get bricked, and HDMI support? If no one knows the answers to these questions, can you possibly suggest a better source where I might find them? Thanks!
Guys, quick question. When you find bugs in 7.2rc1 do you report them using the official CM bug tracker? I'm asking because I saw a lot of people complaining but there is not a single issue reported for RC1 and P920...

Confused
Sorry pandaball but it was unclear!
Could ride a mini tutorial?
My English is not very good and I use the Google translator!
There is a more practical way for this procedure?
What is your consideration of this room for your device? You use it?
If not which suggests to me? Really worth using it?
Please advise me to make the right choice so that I do not regret later!
Thanks!

Hi guys. Sorry for this, I was unsure where to look. I attempted to ask in a different section but was told to post here.
Here's the problem -
I am stuck with this cell , cannot make calls, connect to wifi, etc. I have read many complaints about this. Basically, I am told by others I need to flash it, and get an upgrade. Currently I am running Android 2.2.2. Sorry guys, I am VERY new to all this. I cannot seem to find any help upgrading it. Of course I cannot do so when attempting via the upgrade option in settings, due to the wifi issue. Can someone please point me in the direction of a tool kit which can be used with Mac OSX?
Also, when I attempt to make calls, I get something like "Reorganizing internal processes"
Software version is currently LGP925 - V10e
If I need to tell anyone anything else about it, can you please let me know? Im so bad with all this, again sorry. I am a recent convert from Windows to Mac. Just not sure how to get the proper tools I need. If I could find them, I can then very easily just follows the steps, which I made a note of.
Thanks so much for anyone who can offer a little assistance.
As far as i know there isn't a Mac Toolkit available.
Apart from that you need to upgrade to Gingerbread but i can't help you on this because i am from Europe and i don't know what's going on with your basebands there..
Maybe a P925 U.S.A user will answer to your question.

Well thank you anyway.
I have a mac as well and was never able to find a kit. Try asking a relative or a friend if you can use a pc. You'll also need to flash a v20p kdz or a v21e kdz. Whichever one works best for you

Hi Guys,
I´ve been reading for days and trying all the different approaches described here,
Phone will boot, but modem part won´t work, I have tried CM10, JellyBam, PACMan, NOTHING works,
I can´t flash from my computer since the flash-program can´t find the phone, Windows 7 can find it and copy files to the SD Card.
Many of the posts here leads to files on servers where file is not available anymore. Difficult when ½ of the files needed are impossible to get.
Please help me instead af directing me to the FAQ, i have really done everything to get the phone to work.
If someone can help me to get the original ROM on it i would be really grateful..

Follow this guide it "Will" get you back on gingerbread.
If it doesn't then you must have done something wrong or you have hardware damage.
Edit : The files are there , I just checked.

It will cost a fortune in freight, furthermore it is not mine, it is my brothers but it seems like it works for now. It is running CM10 nightly.
Don´t think it will be good but it works for now.
it will be just fine..
Get used to the recovery procedures and it will last until its hardware trully dies
Just Got a new O3D and I plan to root it soon...but before I do,I want to know.
Is there any perfectly working 4.x ROM that works well and I still get to keep my 3D camera/screen?
Am still waiting for any helpful reply
There is no best rom. And this question is prohibited in the forums.
Btw... what kind of rom you have now? Which baseband? In which country you use the phone?

So ... you have a long way to go. Rooting is the most easy thing in the whole work.
So... JB/CM -> not 3D view
To go to ICS... you should first install over computer in KDZ or Bin/FLS file the ICS system - I am almost sure that you will brick your phone 1-2 times - so it is better to read careful what is written in the manuals. Basically you should go from your V20p to V28B or V30a/b/c via LGFlashtools or SmartFlash(good change to loose you IMEI - so look for how to repair my IMEI cos you will not have signal). Then you should install open bootloarer (there is a tools) cos most of the Kernels work only in open one. Then you can install custom roms... well... they are all Rooted so you should not care about that.
As drastic00 said - read the developer section and all about resurrection guides.

No. you should install first over the computer the ICS and then you can install over CWM custom Roms. so.... read read read.
Why not update to ICS through the LG update tool LG released the update a while ago now..

You could try it but LG updater tool has been bricking phones left and right. Better to install ICS by LG Flash tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195753
Then you can install p-vlad's custom ROM or xbsall's or whatever ROM you want, or stay on stock ICS.
Mine worked perfectly, in fact it unbricked my locked GB after I messed around with the kernel. And updated it ICS perfectly. Big performance improvement, I can run games I wouldnt expect a mid 2011 (mid range phone) to run. It's given it a whole new life that the GB roms never could and even xbsalls and other ICS+ roms felt sluggish compared to it.
