[q] ics/jb roms with 3d? - LG Optimus 3D

Just Got a new O3D and I plan to root it soon...but before I do,I want to know.
Is there any perfectly working 4.x ROM that works well and I still get to keep my 3D camera/screen?

Am still waiting for any helpful reply

There is no best rom. And this question is prohibited in the forums.
Btw... what kind of rom you have now? Which baseband? In which country you use the phone?

So ... you have a long way to go. Rooting is the most easy thing in the whole work.
So... JB/CM -> not 3D view
To go to ICS... you should first install over computer in KDZ or Bin/FLS file the ICS system - I am almost sure that you will brick your phone 1-2 times - so it is better to read careful what is written in the manuals. Basically you should go from your V20p to V28B or V30a/b/c via LGFlashtools or SmartFlash(good change to loose you IMEI - so look for how to repair my IMEI cos you will not have signal). Then you should install open bootloarer (there is a tools) cos most of the Kernels work only in open one. Then you can install custom roms... well... they are all Rooted so you should not care about that.
As drastic00 said - read the developer section and all about resurrection guides.

Am a noob sir, really didn't get your message... am rooted now,and I have clockwork installed...
Found an ICS ROM here http://d-h.st/QgU not sure to download it yet as I do not wish to loose my 3D feature...
Is this ROM safe? I.e do I get to keep my 3D?,or loose it?
And lastly, can I flash it now? Or still need to upgrade firmware?

No. you should install first over the computer the ICS and then you can install over CWM custom Roms. so.... read read read.

Why not update to ICS through the LG update tool LG released the update a while ago now..
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app

You could try it but LG updater tool has been bricking phones left and right. Better to install ICS by LG Flash tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2195753
Then you can install p-vlad's custom ROM or xbsall's or whatever ROM you want, or stay on stock ICS.

Mine worked perfectly, in fact it unbricked my locked GB after I messed around with the kernel. And updated it ICS perfectly. Big performance improvement, I can run games I wouldnt expect a mid 2011 (mid range phone) to run. It's given it a whole new life that the GB roms never could and even xbsalls and other ICS+ roms felt sluggish compared to it.

[Q] installing Froyo camera on G2X running Gingerbread

First, before shaming me over a question that surely has been answered somewhere (yeah, I saw the scary intro video ), let me just say that:
I read the camera thread (no, not all 100+ pages) but couldn't find the answer.
I tried to post on that thread but wasn't allowed because of my noob status.
I'm an Android developer, so you don't have to hold my hand.
I'll gladly read the instructions, if only I can find them.
So... I have a G2X that I've upgraded to Android 2.3.3 using LG's tool. Like everyone in the world, I hate the new Gingerbread camera. Well, not so much hate---it's just that the photos and videos are unusable.
So I found on the camera thread that some wonderful person(s) have made available the camera from the Froyo version. I downloaded the LGCam V3.0.zip file and unzipped it. But I'd like to know:
Do I just install the apk like any other android app?
What do I do with the library and XML files? Do I just throw them in some special Android directory? Or do I leave them in the same directory as the apk? Or do I put them elsewhere?
Once I install this apk, can I uninstall it and go back to the camera I have now?
What are all those other files (e.g. Stock_Gingerbread_Camera.zip) on that thread? Are they merely earlier versions, or are they alternate camera builds from other developers?
I'm sorry I couldn't find this information. But I couldn't. If you'd point me to this information, I'd appreciate it---and if I succeed I'll even write a blog entry about it to make this easier for others. Thank you!!
You don't have to unzip it, just flash the .zip it through recovery. You can leave the .zip on the root of your SD and just.flash it through there. The Stock Gingerbread Camera .zip is the camera you have now, so you can revert. Also, you might want to try Jboxer's 2.3.4 ROM, it has the LG Camera pre-installed.

Ah---I'm inferring from your reply that I have to have a custom ROM and/or root the thing? (Although I'm an Android developer, I've been hesitant to root this phone as I'm stuck if something goes haywire.)

You can root your phone and still keep your apps. If you follow this guide, and then flash WeaponG2x, you'll be fine since Weapon G2x is based on the same 2.3.3 firmware. At that point, you should be able to flash the LG Camera in recovery by holding power+volume down.
You can flash Weapon without factory reset since it's based on 2.3.3? File this under "things I wish I knew last night"

Oh, that would be awesome. So these xda-developers.com threads... you know, I'm used to someone creating and updating single page. (Sorry for whining.) Can I just read the first page of these posts you mentioned and follow the directions? Or do I have to read all 50+ and 100+ pages, respectively, and note all the small details in some obscure reply that might modify the instructions, or indicate something has been updated, etc., and note that e.g. page 83 changed the instructions mentioned in page 40, which changed the instructions on page 1, except that page 90 told how the instructions on page 40 were wrong...? How does this work?
I'm pretty new here but they seem to update the versions with instructions in the first post. If you want commentary on a version you will probably have to look for posts in the time frame it was released.
got WeaponG2x---next steps?
OK, I'm almost there, but...
I installed ClockworkMod. Am I rooted now? (I downloaded Titanium Backup but couldn't find out how to start it---the "refund" button was all that was available, so I requested a refund.)
If I flash the LG Camera using the power+volume down combination, why did I need WeaponG2x? Couldn't I have just flash the new camera using ClockworkMod?
Now that I have ClockworkMod installed, will this make my phone less secure? Before, you had to enter a password to get into my phone. Now if someone steals my phone, can't they just boot into ClockworkMod without a password?
Most important of all, the camera: the Weapon G2x 3.0_R1 page says "LG Cam v3.0". So did I get the LG Cam v3.0 just by installing WeaponG2x? Or do I still have to flash it? (See point #2 above.)
Thanks for all the help so far.
P.S With WeaponG2x, I hope I don't have to reboot my phone at security in the airport---the last thing I need is a huge "weapon" sign...)
You don't have root yet, but since Weapon is a rooted ROM, you'll have root access for Titanium Backup and other things. You don't have to flash Weapon, but it's extra features are great. If you don't want the extra features, look up Xboarder's tweaked 2.3.3 ROM. LG Camera 3.0 works with Weapon and Xboarder's.
Also, the last part was funny
Sent from my Tsugi G2x using XDA Premium
And concerning ClockworkMod and security, there's no option for passwords, unfortunately. But you still need a password to use the actual Android OS itself.
Sent from my Tsugi G2x using XDA Premium
success!
After flashing WeaponG2x, I realized others had the same question of "where is the Gingerbread camera when it is listed in the WeaponG2x features?" Turns out it was removed in a later build and you have to install it yourself---in fact a link is listed on the main page.
So I installed the LG Cam V3.0 for WeaponG2x, and it works! My phone still seems to function, I didn't have to reinstall my apps, and I still get the T-Mobile WiFi calling! Whew! Half the morning just to get a new camera, but... it was worth it!
I really appreciate everyone who helped me on this thread. None of this is particularly difficult, but if one isn't involved in the rooting/ROM community, it's not entirely obvious where to start... or even what you need. Turns out I didn't even need WeaponG2x, it seems, but... I guess I'm better off, now... Thanks!

I was under the impression that I needed WeaponG2x---now that I know, I probably wouldn't have bothered my stock ROM and just used ClockworkMod to get the new camera. But now that I have WeaponG2x, can you help my buyer's remorse---what is the Xboarder, and the WeaponG2x ROM is better, right? Right? I'd hate to have to flash another ROM just because I think I flashed an inferior one. What's the best ROM I can get for G2X 2.3.3 without resetting and reinstalling everything? Cheers!

Weapon is superior because it has more features, but some people like pure stock like Xboarder's ROM, so Weapon was a good choice.

Yeah, but no joke---now every time I whip out my phone on a long flight and turn it on to listen to music (in airplane mode, of course), I'm going to have to hide it into my pocket until it boots up. Otherwise, can you imagine the commotion when the person next to me sees this huge, bright "WEAPON!!!" sign? Arg!
FYI, the LG camera that you can flash to gingerbread works great *except* that it is not Skype video chat compatible. If this has changed, someone let me know. Since I use Skype video chat with the front facing camera for work (and to see my little girl when I am away) this was a deal breaker for me. I was using Xboarder's ROM with the stock camera.
Tsugi G2x has a flashable LG camera that does work with Skype video chat. I think JBoxer's ROM may as well.

Follow the links in my signature for rooting the G2x. Start with the clickworkmod recovery (does NOT require root first) then follow the instructions for rooting. Only took me a couple of minutes...and i'm an idiot, lol.

This is what I did.
Not exactly one click but it worked for me. Plus cyanogen is a pretty respected source. Good luck. Also try Tsugi's custom rom for the g2x. Its actually not really custom. It is stock 2.3.4 gingerbread that was released for the European version of this phone. Its incredibly stable and lightning fast. Enjoy!!!

First you need to dl the rom you want to your phone (look for ones that are pre-rooted i believe they all are it should say if it is). Then you need to do nv flash recovery. After this you enter recovery and perform your back up and then follow the steps to flashing the rom you chose. Go to the forum the look for the guide to flash nv flash shouldn't to difficult just follow every step and your should be good
There is a new exploit that works on 2.3.3 and 2.3.4. Super One Click has been updated to include the new exploit. Search for it and download it to root phone without needing to flash Clockworkmod Recovery.

[Q] Any guides for stock Rom on LG p720h?

Hi there, just got a brand new LG Optimus 3D Max (p720h) and was lurking around to find out if I can remove my carrier's customs. I learned to root my device and uninstall some customizations using various tools around the market and forums like this.
I'm still struggling with some customizations like for example the boot image and categories within the app list, I think all my problems would be solved if I used a stock ROM, problem is that I can't find really any good guides for this device, I was able to find something on p920 but I'm not sure that would work:
tool here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=27004883
KDZ here: http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=10 (very sloooow download)
So I want to know if I could use those tools and kdz files I found or if there's another specific guide for my device.
Offtopic questions:
1. I heard Icecream Sandwich upgrade is planned for my device, is that true? Any news on that?
2. Would p920 cases fit my p720? Specifically talking about those wallet-like cases.

[Q] How to update to latest firmware/version,when phone has been rooted?

How to update to latest firmware/version,when phone has been rooted?
I'm still using good ol' KingDroid LG3D v1.4.2 ( kernel 2.6.35.7 / baseband L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00 / Android 2.2.2 / software LG920-V10e-AUG-11-2011 ) but recently seen that we can update it to 4.0 android now, since my device is rooted, is it no longer possible to update it the 'legal' way, do I still have to keep using custom ROMs to get updates or it's possible to roll back to factory reset phone, where everything is stock?
A bit dummy here, because tried loads of times update firmware without any luck, most of threads were too old or it didn't worked on my device.
P920 UK version
About the android 4.0 (ICS) it is a port . It is not for optimus 3D it's for other device (SU760) . But a developer port it (means that he modified it to work with our devices ) . So of course it is not official or legal . And it is not easy to get .
You can update it to 2.3.5 (gingerbread) officialy and legaly .
I test both of them (ICS & GB) and I found that GB roms is batter that ICS . UNTIL NOW but of course the ICS will be batter .

V21E is a ghost call free firmware and it's legal.
Technically , it's not illegal to install a modded Kernel. It's prohibited but not illegal.
You can always install a stock rom and unroot it to get the warranty back...
They wouldn't notice.
In fact they have no way of knowing any damage besides a physical one apparent on the phone cosmetics. (Like liquid damage or Broken Digitizer)
They would assume , try to get you to confess but if you deflect you'll always land on your foot.
Get offended and they back away immediately , not that they're stupid but they have to...
Hope I helped...
Cheers!

Bricks can be fixed.
The trick is to not panic , there are guides that'll fix your phone in no time for "free".
Everybody bricks their phone at some point...
That's how you learn and get back to the community that helped you do it.
Listen right now LG o3d has an almost complete repair guide it means that almost every software related problem can be fixed including all kinds of bricks even the hard ones .even u can restore your imei if it got curropted so just read carefully and don't panic if something happened ..and even ask for help anytime we will help u.
I have bricked my device over 30 times last two weeks but I fixed it by reading and learning.

I did flash with smart flash, that was only way to unbrick my phone
if I go for custom ICS or JB roms, do I need upgrade from 21e to something higher?
Yes for pics u need to flash ported ics. Which has only one problem its 3d is reverted but everything else work..anyway ics is still not as good as gb ..I would recommend promethious tom and kernel for v21e or thiaiaz rom or meemos roms. Just find what suits u ...and btw don't flash with latest cwm recovery it doesn't works just bricks your device .use the older one provided in LG recovery manager just search for it in the forum..good luck ..if u need anything just ask

[Q] Need ICS Pllease help me

Hi Dear friends!
Happy new year and Merry Christmas!
I read many tutorials and flew thread to thread but don't undrestand how to flash after some steps I have done..
now I'm on GB 2.3.5 Have LG Thrill but I flashed optimus 3D rom (with this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1491870&highlight=v21 and flashed: V21E_00.kdz also I have CWM recovery and phone is rooted)
Please shot video guide how you flash ICS or write it step by step.
(and by the way I want to know if any bugs left on ICS ported for P920)
here is the guide step by step.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956347

It's Easy ;D
Use this method it is easy :-
1-Download smartflasher and install it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629307
2-Download omap driver and install it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490
3-Download LG Drivers and install them http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490
4-Remove battery , SD Card and SIM Card .
5-Now your phone in your hands without any thing
-hold vol+
-keep holding and then connect the phone with PC .
-Now you are holding vol+ and the phone is connected with PC ,,, insert the battery and keep holding for few seconds (1-3) .
--Now you should see some korean words on your phone screen . now you are in download mode
6- open the smartflasher and select "ROM Copy D/L" tap .
-select the *bin file in the AP feild .
7-Press start . wait until loading complete . now you are in ICS
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW :-
-You MUST found a working baseband with you carrier in order to get a signal (check the thread which involve them)
-You may lose Your IMEI .
-You may brick your phone and I'm not responsable for that .
---If you want a youtube video it's impossable . At first you will see it hard but then you will see too easy ;D
---If need something or have any question ask
It is not easy at all, for us who does not know much about this stuff , i have done all about this guide you wrote here now, but at end i always end up with no Service ( signal ) or no WiFi , when it comes with the Baseband i always lost.
right now i am on Thiai's Rom the first time i flashed it, i didn't have no Signal at all, then i went back to stock Rom again and try to flash XBSA ICS 4.0.4 Custom , and then Official cm10 nightlies for all p920 and then JELLYBAM , i mean they can be flashed easy but at the end i always end up with no signal. i gave up on ICS and i am on Thai's Rom again now and it has Signal i still don't get it anyway? only problems in Thai's rom is that i lost lotta call people call me but my phone does not ring sometimes . tell me what to do ? i wanna have the ICS on my phone really!!!

Personally when I joined xda I was not know any thing even a custom ROM and I saw the CWM something impossable and too hard then every thing become easy after trying and bricking my phone and in these days I brick my device about 2 times a day .
About the signal . As I said above ,, find the working baseband for your country/carrier and you will get signal . or maybe you lose your IMEI so you must recover it .
there is a thread with the working basebands with ICS . try it .
And about the people call you and phone doesn;t ring it is called ''ghost call'' and it is a problem with baseband .
here is a thred where you can find working bb for your country. i have flashed xbsall bb and everything works perfekt im from germany.

I joined since 2008 i used samsung omnia back then, i been try to flash my phone more than 20 ever since, i don't like the GB because its really slow, thats why i wanna have the ICS or CM10 or JELLYBAM just better thing, The 3D stuff doesn't matter much to me, so i wanna move on something good thats the reason why i wanna flash my phone so bad, i'll keep trying until i find the right way to do  i will fallow the guide you gave and i'll see whats gonna happen, anyway which Rom it better to use? JellyBAM or Xball or CM10 nightly on the ICS ,which one doesn't drain the battery
Anyway thanks alot of your help .if ihave more question i am gonna ask again ?
if you do not care about 3D flash CM10 or any other rom based on it choose the ROM by your opinion ,, some people like S3 they flash "OptimusRs" . some like a custimazition they flash PACMan choose the rom you like .
and about the baseband I think it is V20D or V21D I did not remember ,, search it they wrote the working baseband with CM10 .
And if you have questions ask as you can
Thanks

You can watch 3D movies or clips but the 3D Specs are not there anymore, but its really smooth and fast, that's what i love about it.
