Grid 10 - Android Apps and Games

has anyone tried to convert the Grid 10 launcher to work with tablets/phones? I think it would be something new and fun to try.

+1 looks awesome. If I'm not mistaken though that's the playbook, probably wont ever be able to port though. While the playbook can run android apps, it in a virtual machine. Much like running windows in a box on Ubuntu. I hope I'm wrong though. I would love to run that.

That's not the playbook. Grid 10 was advertised as a new tablet "based on android" the fact they said based on android makes me wonder how much is android and how much isn't... It may be more than just a launcher. But I'm only familiar with the info prior to it's release

(App request) G4tv app

Is there any way that the iPhone G4tv app can be ported over to the android platform (evo)

I would think not. TWO different platforms. So I doubt it can just be ported. or we would have a crap load of polished apps.
I already shot them a twitter message they said an android app is in the works.

[Q] Launcher like NXE?

Does anyone know of a home screen launcher that looks like (or can look like) the NXE (New Xbox experience) dashboard? I would swear on a stack of bibles that I saw one on a youtube video of an android phone.
No one?

There's nothing like you want, at the moment. But, perhaps you must consider
this when they have a final version in the market.

thats not really like the Xbox dashboard, but that does look very promising.
Thanks for responding. It's such a simple and neat interface compared to "screen full of icons", I'm surprised no one is trying to make it happen.
What about the XMB(XrossMediaBar) from ps3? Any launcher like that?

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this as well.

Do you miss the 3d app drawer?

I kind of miss it. One of the things I wish made its way from 2.3 to 4.0. Must of gotten lost some where in-between

Yeah I do miss it but think about this. Unlike apple iOS, ICS works on both phone and tablet .they took out the 3d because it will look stupid on a tablet. That's why they adopted the honeycomb launcher

I used to run that on GB.
But I really don't want to go back to the old UI. Which is why stock (or at least stock looking) is why I'm not going to aftermarket home launchers.

ADW Ex doesn't change the appearance or operation (except for the app drawer, which is what you want anyway) unless you configure it to do so.
It has been updated to provide added functionality on top of ICS and it is working brilliantly.

Control your xbox 360 with your g2x???

The 4.x means ICS or above. Though with the ICS kernel source out we'll be getting JB soon anyway. Very glad to see this is coming to Android though; I'd figured it would be Windows Phone exclusive.

Zing!
But I was checking it out on my Xbox and it said the app would be ready Friday.

And here it is!
Xbox SmartGlass
It is working on my G2x with Owain's "Domination" ICS, build 77.
I was able to use it as a controller to navigate the dashboard, but didn't try it with any sort of games or anything.
The app also appears to do everything the My Xbox LIVE app does, so that app is basically useless now.
It did take a little while for the first connection, and the Xbox has to be on. It won't do Wake on LAN or anything, as far as I can tell. You'll have to make sure SmartGlass devices are enabled in your Xbox options, but it should be on by default with the new Xbox update from a while ago.

[Q] Windows phone 8 or 7 rom?

I'm new here but I've been learning about custom roms and flashing them to my HTC One X from the amazing ViperXL Rom to CM10 and I was just wondering if anyone knows if its possible to flash Windows Phone 8 on an HTC One X...Maybe its not possible yet but i think the idea would be pretty neat to have it running or emulating on the device right? So anyone has any ideas or know about a developer who may have it on the works?

As far as I am aware, the answer is no. The reason is due to the different hardware(no driver support) and the closed nature of Windows 7/8 it isn't possible to make the rom.

Hmmm i'll take a look at it maybe over time the update fixes the slow feel...but i didn't know there were XDA Rules on that...
Everyone is always talking about launcher 8, but launcher 7 is a highly polished windows phone launcher that's been around for a long time and has flawless performance. Also if you really like the look there are great lockscreen, keyboard, status bar, calculator, SMS, and dialer apps. I tried it for awhile and it was kind of cool. I can dig up the names of them if you want

or you could just buy a windows 8 phone

...or you can just buy a different phone every time you want to try something new instead of coming on XDA, rooting your phone to install custom ROMs and wasting poor cheesy's precious time, lol.
As others have said I don't think it's possible but I also think that it would be cool to try. Can I just say that the first time I ever used Android it was on an old Windows Mobile 6.1 device, it ran like **** but at least it was an effort and it was a lot more fun than just buying a new phone.
