[Q] Launcher like NXE? - Android Apps and Games

Does anyone know of a home screen launcher that looks like (or can look like) the NXE (New Xbox experience) dashboard? I would swear on a stack of bibles that I saw one on a youtube video of an android phone.

No one?

There's nothing like you want, at the moment. But, perhaps you must consider
this when they have a final version in the market.

thats not really like the Xbox dashboard, but that does look very promising.

Thanks for responding. It's such a simple and neat interface compared to "screen full of icons", I'm surprised no one is trying to make it happen.

What about the XMB(XrossMediaBar) from ps3? Any launcher like that?

nexus s live wallpaper

anyone know where i can get the original nexus s live wallpaper the one that comes on the nexus s where the effects look like they are 3d.
Maybe try asking in the Nexus S subforum?

The real deal. Use it myself and it looks amazing. There's also a blacked out version (no background, looks amazing on the superamoled screen) somewhere on xda if you search for it.
Thanks for the link app is great

How did you get it on your device? It will not push to it from the market. I am running CM7.
use a sideloader.
I'm rocking the blacked out version and I love it. Makes me feel better about running a live wallpaper since it's mostly black.
If you're able to install from untrusted sources then you just launch the .apk and it installs fine.

Nice Find, I'll have to check it out.

I hate bumping such an old thread, but can someone post the apk of this? I can't download it and it's the only REAL version I've found that isn't just the nexus one's with a replaced background.
use that link you quoted to have the android market push install it to your phone.
It won't install, thanks for the help.

Everything else installs fine except for this, and this doesn't even show up on the market on my phone. Can you try installing it?

More of a Honeycomb question

Can you install 3rd party home launcher replacements on Honeycomb ie Adw.Launcher, LauncherPro, etc?

Is this a real question
Yes lol it may seem silly to you, but I have had no chances to use a honeycomb tablet. You could simply say yes or no and let the thread sink after that.

Nevermind, I took it upon myself to find out, I installed it on the emulator using adb. Thanks for no real help.

Why not use the search function and find one of the many threads in like 5 minutes?

Cause I'm using the xda app, which has the worst possible search function on the face of the planet. So instead of posting useless crap, and raising your post count, you could actually try to be helpful. It doesn't hurt anyone to say "Yes, honeycomb supports 3rd party launchers. Please search next time."

I've had adw and lpp on my wifi only uk xoom. Settled on lpp as the app drawer sometimes goes laggy on adw
also there is an issue with ADW and honeycomb.... if it is set as default on most devices when reboot it never gets past the boot animation. Something about ADW not sending out a "hey I'm displayed" flag to activitymanager.

windows phone 7 keyboard

Here is a link to something that I thought was nice. It is a windows phone 7 keyboard with the sounds included. It works great and i thought that i would share it with you. A description on how to install and use it is also in the link along with download.
I take no credit for it i just wanted to share it with this forum all credit goes to frostincredible.

remember to thank him if you like the keyboard.
FYI: This is actually a re-skinned HTC keyboard, which was the best keyboard around for a while... but it's been surpassed now and doesn't compare at all favorably to the stock Gingerbread keyboard, the Motorola multi-touch keyboard, or SwiftKey. The HTC board isn't even multi-touch, for example.
EDIT: Thought I had seen this somewhere: a much, much, much better option if you want a WP7-themed board is this themed Gingerbread keyboard (flash in CWR):

(via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746689)
I saw this one as well but when I tried to install it I always got an error about amend scripting or something like that and never really looked into it. If there is a way to fix it I would really like to try this one out. But I currently really like the one that I posted in the op.

Sorry how do you go about installing it in clock work? Also does it replace the stock one? I love how wp7 is so easy to type on but tried the op one and It didn't feel right.
I'm confused myself. its in an amend format which wont let it install. the file type was not used after android 1.5 yet this is obviously a fairly recent thread that this was posted in.

I did find a way to install this. you have to run it through a program to change the script but i forget where i found it at. I will post a link when I find it in the mean time try out google for the answer.
I did find a thread on the board for a program called Amend2Edify. is that what you used?

The person that posted seemed to think you used clock work recovery to flash the zip to you're rom?

Versions of CWR that are 3.0+ and above, no longer work with Amend Scripting.
any chance of someone converting this to edify and post up a link?

Thumb Keyboard on the Amazon Appstore has a Windows Phone setting. It's a fantastic app, extremely customizable and fluid.

Grid 10

has anyone tried to convert the Grid 10 launcher to work with tablets/phones? I think it would be something new and fun to try.

+1 looks awesome. If I'm not mistaken though that's the playbook, probably wont ever be able to port though. While the playbook can run android apps, it in a virtual machine. Much like running windows in a box on Ubuntu. I hope I'm wrong though. I would love to run that.

That's not the playbook. Grid 10 was advertised as a new tablet "based on android" the fact they said based on android makes me wonder how much is android and how much isn't... It may be more than just a launcher. But I'm only familiar with the info prior to it's release

Do you miss the 3d app drawer?

I kind of miss it. One of the things I wish made its way from 2.3 to 4.0. Must of gotten lost some where in-between

Yeah I do miss it but think about this. Unlike apple iOS, ICS works on both phone and tablet .they took out the 3d because it will look stupid on a tablet. That's why they adopted the honeycomb launcher

I used to run that on GB.
But I really don't want to go back to the old UI. Which is why stock (or at least stock looking) is why I'm not going to aftermarket home launchers.

ADW Ex doesn't change the appearance or operation (except for the app drawer, which is what you want anyway) unless you configure it to do so.
It has been updated to provide added functionality on top of ICS and it is working brilliantly.
