On the phone app, tap and hold one of the tabs. You will get to the edit mode, then drag the video Call icon to the tab list

I havent it there
Says no recipient for video call. Strange, as one of my contacts has Endymion installed on his Desire S. I'll try this evening and report.
Check with your operator first. 3G Video Call is a service provided by the operator, you cannot call this way as with skype for ex. If you both don't have the service activated (could cost you money), the call cannot be performed.
There's another topic related to this subject HERE. Maybe it's a good idea that a mod will merge them to have whole discussion in a single place
I think till now HTC doesnt support stock video call..... I sent a mail to HTC regarding this waiting for their reply.....

OK. I've started some "research" into this cause it seems alot of you are intereseted in this 3G Video Calling feature. I even reflash Endymion now to check few things.
1. Why some have that small camera (option) in the People tab and some don't? (When arranging tabs in People/Contacts, there's a video camera that can be added to the existing tabs.)
I think is depending on what ROM each has. If you have the stock Desire S ROM (or based on one), you will not have it... The ones that have it, are the ones that have a ported ROM from Sensation (as is Endymion ROM). Sensation has this so, since the ROM is ported from there, we have it also on the Desire S. On US site, you can check on official HTC site HERE that Sensation 4G has "Video calling enabled"
2. What do we need to use this function?
There are two things: the service from the operator AND a compatible phone. The first is easy, for the second though...there are some "problems"
Searching on the forums, I've found some official answers from HTC regarding this subject. I'll quote below one relevant:
Video Call Compatibility
AT present (April 2011) these handsets run the 2.2 (Froyo) or 2.3 (Gingerbread) versions of the Android OS and these does not natively support video calls.
In the future, if the device is updated to 2.4, it is rumoured that this will natively support video calls, but this is not known yet.
In the meantime, until video calls are natively supported, customers will need to use a third party application to utilise video calling. The people they are calling will need to also have this software installed on their handsets.
There are currently two applications which will support video calling, Fring and Tango Video Calls.
Skype have said they will be updating their software in the future to support video calling on the android platform.
This information is subject to change at any time as updates and new software is released.
Said that, it seems that we don't have yet this function even if some Samsung phones have it (Samsung Galaxy S2 for ex, you can check user manual pag. 45 for video call options)
3. What do we have to do?
For now?...sadly, nothing. HTC was not natively included this in our phones and since there are alot of third party applications that offers video call features, there is no developer willing to integrate such functionality. Maybe a port from Galaxy S2 could bring something, I'm not a developer to know if there is such port or if it is even possible.
So we have to wait for an update from HTC that hopefully will activate this on Desire S. Till then we have Tango, Skype, Fring and so on...
I hope this will clear things a little bit. If someone else has a different opinion or know a way to do this, please share it
Thanks for investigating into this! I'm Sure we will be able to get it working soon!

Hello Community,
is it possible to use skype with video on the GalaxyTab?
I read somethin that i would have to cook flash into a custom ROM and such; my english is quite bad and my cooking skills are even worse.
I was hoping you might be able to at least tell me if its possible - and if "yes", how?
Thanks!
Steve.
AFAIK, video on Skype isn't available for any device. Hopefully they'll update it soon for front facing cameras.

I Read somewhere that they will be releasing a version VERY soon with this. Perhaps during CES. Hopefully its not just on the Iphooey platform...
Why cant you make calls on 3g? only wifi in US.
I can make calls anywhere, no problem.
But my parents, sister, step-parents and grandparents do not have video-capable cellphones. Or their contracts do not include a data flatrate which would be necessary for video telephony.
That's why i was trying to use skype.
PS: I found a teaser here.
As I mentioned earlier;
http://www.engadget.com/2010/12/24/skype-finally-bringing-video-calling-to-mobile/
its for the Isheep... but hopefully we might get lucky. Sadly, this will be heavily carrier dependant. As long as they get a version out, I am confident the community here will get a working apk for any platform working and with 3G too.
I currently use Skype that has been hacked to work with 3G data (and even works with EDGE speeds). However, before Skype released their latest version, there were many apks that just didnt work. They either only worked for Skypeout in the US or was setup to work on particular networks. I am a happy camper now though. Just need a video app just like you do.
In the meantime, Tango is brilliant! I love it

Tango is a great alternative to any other app for face chatting.....granted, the quality of the video could use a bit of an improvement, but overall, best resource out there for us GTab owners

The problem with most of these alternative is the lack of desktop clients. When I travel for work, I'd quite like to use the Tab to keep in touch with the family, which really means I need either another Tab, or a desktop client.

ooVoo seems to have both tab & desktop client. i haven't tried it, because i hate to have to install yet another app to do another function that could have been provided by skype in the first place. maybe it is a good solution for short term until skype comes around and updates their software

No this is about the USA model called the HTC inspire 4g. It is a Desire HD but with a couple different hardware modifications. I need to make sure a script we've put in this rom sets up both versions with the correct audio/GPS requirements.
Will test it in the next days

We are going to push changes to the CM7 DHD device before then, probably tonight. You can test anytime you like, but before the changes are introduced would be far more helpful and beneficial - to you.
I'll give it a try tomorrow hopefully, and I'll report back. It's pretty late at this side of the world so I can't really call anyone right now.
music through speaker = yes
music through headset = yes
Calls through headset / speakerphone / regular phone =yes
mic = will test in a minute when i find some to call that is up
http://cyanogenmod.pastebin.com/dRVRCtwS
EDIT:
mic working fine in all situations
GPS appears fine (i get a lock in GPS Status)
I have both an inspire 4G and a Desire HD.. here in the US, the Inpsire I just got running on AT&T with CM7 and the cm7-inspire-audio-gps-fix patch from the inspire CM7 post.
My Desire HD was from my trip back to Hong Kong when I bought it there, currently I have a US t-mobile Prepaid sim in there.. its running the RC nightly #6
I'll up my desire to #8 and give this a try, and report back, is there any additional information you need, aka Radio info before I start testing?

Mic Works headphone/Speaker/handset
GPS works able to locate multiple
Audio good on headphones/speaker/handset
do you want me to try this on my Inspire?
Hi
I read that Skype (a new version) would be installed on the desire s?
Is it only on the unbranded version? Have a vodafone device and don't find it.
I just downloaded it from Market no trouble at all...I'm on unbranded DS
and then you had the version with videocall?
I downloaded the marketplace version and can't even log in.

Both picture and sound were clear , and the Desire S has the option of using either of it's two cameras .
So far , so good !!

I was just looking this up! Especially since Skype has that whole inverted video issue with Galaxy S like devices...
There's a flashable zip available for gingerbread devices for Gtalk and video (what I used to get my G2x up and running) but I get the feeling it's not going to work on froyo devices :\ If nandroid worked as well as it does on my other phones, I would take a backup and flash it just for the hell of it, but right now I'm too chicken**** to try...

HTC has delivered a ROM to us however it is still having issues the reason that other sensation types have the update without issue and ours did not come out that way is because every ROM must be adapted to the hardware of the device because we use a different radio than other providers and also have applications such as wifi calling it also has to be compatible with those. What the HTC rep told you is most likely correct because once a ROM is delivered we have 2 weeks to test it and then approve it or send it back they then have 4 weeks to fix the bugs and return it back to us, where we are exactly in that process I do not know but that is how a ROM is delivered to the customer.
The original ROM was not delivered to us in November, we started testing it just recently but I think it has been longer than 2 weeks so at this point HTC most likely has the ball.
You bought a phone and it has been announced that you are getting ICS you have every right to know what’s going on with it and when you can see these awesome features. I did go into a lot of detail about how a ROM gets to the end user (you guys) but that wasn’t to point fingers only so you would have a better understanding of why you don’t have it yet, the bottom line is the Sensation has T-Mobile’s and HTC’s name all over it and both companies want to make you proud to be a Sensation owner so we are working as fast as we can to deliver it but also want to make sure that it stands up to your expectations.

A fairly meaty update that helps explain the process, the holdup and a possible time frame for when we might see the release.
So T-Mobile can't get their WiFi Calling and other bloatware to work, but our custom ROM chefs don't seem to have a problem?

It seems that HTC can't get the Wifi calling to work within spec. It didn't work the first time and TMO told HTC that they needed to work on it some more. It's going back and forth between TMO and HTC.
And no offense to our devs here, but lets be realistic. Our roms here aren't without their issues. Ie. wifi calling still crashing, mms not working, proximity sensor issues, wifi issues, bt issues, etc. but the positive is that the roms here get better than their respective base.

Now I don't think that's fair our devs don't have the resources tmob has and we are ahead of them with 4.0 almost working and got 60 3.6 roms out there if one dev had what HTC had or tmobl we be in next stage ics 4.0 is far from last Rom this phone will do
I do think HTC watches this as do all phones and leak so they have free help

I don't think it's fair that the devs don't have access to the same resources that tmo and htc have either. If they did we would probably also have perfect 'native' ports of Samsung's, Sony's, and Moto's UIs, lol. it is what it is. the devs have improved on what's been released (although, I would like to see a rom that emphasizes stability instead of tweaks - Maybe I'll take a crack at it if I can find enough time, we'll see).
As far as free help is concerned... I don't know how much work they actually take off XDA (although, i'm sure it's happened, i feel like it's little). The X10 (in which I had a little previous experience) had a number of things fixed that's never (and never will be) fixed in any official rom.
but the original point was to contradict this statement: "our custom ROM chefs don't seem to have a problem" and "So T-Mobile can't get their WiFi Calling and ...". There are issues and it's not just TMO but HTC can't fix wifi calling in a timely manner. Just trying to dispel inaccuracies (IMHO).
I would rather have a clean ROM straight from HTC without T-Mobile adding junk to it anyway, including WiFi calling...
Well what it is that tmobl locked the phone up so it can't use att making HTC redo there **** its out everywhere but here in us
Looks like a corp had a hand trying to block the progress of something with hardware changes and bloatware I would love a Rom from HRC or google with out tmob trash but I am not on tmob now so I have no bloat lol

Speak for yourself, my friend.
I'm using bluetooth, video recording, wifi, wifi calling, all cell radio features, proximity working find, light sensor as well.
I don't mms. I gmail.
So. The devs and chefs are doing a FANTASTIC job, especially with these kernels.
Just like i tell everyone in every single rom forum for the sensation. T-Mobile's Wifi calling is just useless bloatware that is a program easy as hell for, supposed amazing techs of their caliber to make and now we have to wait for official Ics due to an app that don't work stock or rooted. Everytime i use wifi calling, and yes on stock, all i get is" HUH,WHAT DID YOU SAY, I CANT HEAR YOU",. And thats why it also rarely works in roms. It's not HTC's fault T-Mobile has a shi%$ program that is useless out the box. Wouldn't be useless if it ever worked. And now we have to wait for Ics because of it.

^ Likewise I depend on wifi calling. I'll pass on the other bloatware, but this isn't an optional app for me. I'm afraid that I've had no consistent luck with the ROMs available here.
I suspect that will change once T-Mobile has released their ICS update with a working configuration and (possibly) an updated app. In the meantime, I am content to wait.
It's based on my opinion.**

WiFi calling is not bloatware to people who use it. I use it everyday at home. There's no way I can make or receive call without it. I also use it every time I'm overseas. For me, WiFi calling is a must. That's why I don't dare play around different roms for fear of messing up the WiFi calling feature. I can also wait for the official update with a working WiFi calling.
