It depends if there was ever a stock froyo ROM for your phone.

it's now posted on Motorola Developer Site. I've already flashed my phone with that ROM.
check the XT720 Original Rom topic under the Milestone Android Development Section.

ah ha. ... if you're waiting for Froyo just for installing your apps into SD card, you don't need to wait anymore. check here
Code:
http://translate.google.com.sg/translate?hl=en&sl=vi&u=http://www.tinhte.vn/thay-doi-nang-cap-firmware-280/app2card-2-6-2-12-nov-cai-dat-ung-dung-len-nho-phan-vung-456586/&ei=NM7hTMv3I4KWcY6epZ8M&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CB4Q7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dapp2card%2B2.6%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3D6Mp%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official
the program will let you partition and format one part to Ext2 (which is required to install Apps) and let you transfer the apps on your phone to SD card. It also change the default app location to SD card so the future app installations will also go to SD card automatically. (I've already using on my XT720 since version 2.4 now version 2.6.2 is already out)
dont think so froyo will hit indian market for xt720
looks like xt720 wont get froyo after all...
http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/mot...oid-22-no-froyo-for-milestone-xt720-50001727/
korea version xt720 will get 2.2.1 froyo at next week(25) (christmars present?)
Are You Sure that it's 2.2??

Uhm on cincinnati bell the milestone isnt supposed to get froyo, read about moto/cin bell not putting the support into froyo, but then again stuff changes my only desire is for a simple way to root like unrevoked.

The Universal Androot app worked for me.
When froyo 2.2 is available for update would it have to be done through samsung kies or however its spelled? Or can i just use the phones updater to install 2.2 as well? i have read that we MUST use kies? ty and SO sorry if its wrong topic?

You asking if you can OTA the update when its officially released?
If your running a custom ROM and kernel than you can't OTA it. If your just rooted and are running the stock ROM I believe you can OTA it but it will make you lose root.
If your running a custom ROM, you might as well just flash a custom FroYo ROM thats based off the Official FroYo one when its released, we all know the Dev's here make things better.

If you are running a completely stock Epic with no modifications to the kernel/ROM etc., then you will receive an OTA notification when it is available. If not, you will have to wait until the new .tar comes out in order to flash it with Odin, or you can go back to complete stock to receive the OTA.
Ok thats all i needed to no ty all for the fast responses! YOUR THE BEST GUYS! and yea im all stock so ill be getting it ota dont no the release date yet but im looking forward to it this month (I HOPE! lol) anyway just wanted to say ty and keep up your good work guys i check back very often and see wats out and new ;P

You won't be able to use the patch file (the smaller one) to go from 2.3.1 because the files needed aren't there. If you use the full rom (you'll have to root to apply it) then the answer to your question is yes. The easiest way is to either wait for 2.3.2 and then do the manual update or manually push both of them.
so is it ok to manually update my nexus s to 2.3.2 then to 2.3.3? By the way my phone is not rooted, will i have a problem if i do it manually? (2.3.2 to 2.3.3)
or i have to root my phone then manually push both updates?

If you can find the update file for 2.3.2 then absolutely. You'll just have to do them one by one and rename them each "update.zip"

If I went directly from 2.3 (or 2.3.1, I forgot) to 2.3.3, does that mean that the sms bug wasn't fixed?

You can upgrade directly from 2.3.1 to 2.3.3 without needing root permission.
I did this myself using one of the manual download links, there is a upgrade package to go from 2.3.1 to 2.3.3 which includes the 2.3.2 fixes.

I've been seeing all these I997UCKJx and not sure which is the latest. For example, I thought I997UCKJ2 but then I saw I997UCKJ4. However I997UCKJ4 is an Android 2.3.6 and I997UCKJ2 is an Android 2.3.7. So which is the latest? If I997UCKJ4 is the latest, why the Android version is 2.3.6?
I have kj2, never seen kj4.
KJ4 is newer. Version numbers work just like they do with software; bigger = newer.
They're both 2.3.6
Thanks. Reason i ask was MIUI Rom had android version 2.3.7 and thought why I997UCKJ4 had a lower Android 2.3.6.

Its because MIUI isn't based on UCKJ4 or UCKJ2.. they are probably just using the modem.

The fourth letter indicates the month the modem was released. However, do not confuse the UCK*# modems with the UCKJ2/4 ROM's. The ROM's in question, preceded by [ROM] I997UCKJ#'s are actually AT&T Gingerbread leaks. They involve new boot-loaders and you are advised to proceed with caution.

Miui is aosp based. The ui is ported to the most recent cyanogenmod builds which are updated add they arrive on the nexus phones.
Uckj2 and 4 are Samsung builds. Manufacturer builds are always behind cyanogen mod. But it it's impressive that they are that up to date, nobody expected it when the first leak to drop was 2.3.5 never mind when 2.3.6 dropped.
thanks all

i want to root it :/
When you've reached 10 posts, just ask you're question there : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2107775
BTW, if you flash (downgrade or not), flash directly for a rooted rom.
