I have a samsung Galaxy SII that was literally detached from the AT&T store security device. I am now in possession of it. I want to clean the phone so that it cannot be tracked. Can someone help me accomplish this? Grazie,
TCSK
Ok..but how will you clean the phone..The IMEI cannot be cleaned , So the phone can be tracked..
oh. ok. I should've mentioned that i don't know much about devices of this sort. So there is no way to keep the phone, then?
So let me get this straight.
You are in possession of a stolen device and are looking to us to aid and abet your crime?
You do realize that your post gives us your ip address, approximate location, e-mail address, etc?
You also realize that by posting this you admitted guilt of your crime?
Good luck buddy.
Very well, and so I retract my previous statement. I have since incinerated the phone.

Name one area that it's not.
Why isn't this thread closed?
Some require knowledge that the property was stolen.
Also, there are a great many places on the planet that are pretty lawless.

Where in the United States is it legal to have possession of stolen property?

Which is why he's posting here in the first place. It was "detached from an AT&T security device" and wants to know "how to clean the phone so it cannot be tracked."
Even if he wasn't the one that actually stole it... being in willful possession of stolen property is against the law in the United States.
Anyone here that assists him in his crime is also guilty.

many popular Web sites across the net are shutting down for 1 day on January 18th in protest of the 2 bills the united states government is trying to force through Congress. These bills would give the united states government the power to shut down entire Web sites, much like China does. This could even affect xda. Think of the government shutting xda down because some newb posts a file he shouldnt, or because a leak for a device specific os post is seen as infringement.

All seriousness tho... This is an informative link to some folks involved in the anti-sopa movement.
At least in America I think we've become way too complacent. It's frightening what they could do with the bill that passed, but got floored, if just *one* man changed his mind.
Not long until it hits England I reckon. Can't believe we are extraditing a 23 year old to America over piracy... sad times.
Waste of time imho. People who are against SOPA should be out there educating people. The more people understand the more influence we have. If there is a blackout for a day a lot of people will overlook it.

the idea is pretty scary...it's especially disappointing seeing as we're talking about the US in this case censoring the web, while they criticise China for doing exactly that. So much for "freedom of speech"...
sort of sounds like this to me: "We gave you freedom of speech, so let us tell you how to use it."

Bump. Again, there was a website where you could do this but it's probably just moved.
What's your complaint? If it's something to do with fixing a bill or something then just call customer support.. if it's something like you just want to complain you can call customer support.
Both options have a pretty decent chance of you being hung up on a couple times, though.
Why not just keep it to yourself?

Better to file with the government regulator of AT&T, they will pay more attention:

Then also file with your state's Attorney General.

I filed a complaint due to throttling ( i hadnt even reached 2 gbs) in Las Vegas.
I filed a complaint with the FCC and the Better business Bureau. I git a reply from AT&T corporate but when I tried to call back (and left 2 msgs) i got no one.
The AT&T lady even had the nerve to say in the VM that if i switched to a 2gb plan from unlimited I wouldnt have to worry about throttling
Try the AT&T forum. There is an AT&T manager/forum moderator there that will listen or help you with your grievances.

Hey guys,
Just wanted to give my fellow Wind users a warning: Wind has changed their warranty policies.
Instead of doing a straight exchange they now require $150 deposit, and a $10+tax fee for using their loaner phone. I've had enough of their antics, and am in touch with the loyalty department after paying $161.30 just to send my phone in for repairs.
Basically what happened is my phone shutoff while I was using the flashlight, and wouldn't turn back on. I tried charging, tried a different battery, tried putting it into recovery, etc. Now that I look back the only thing I didn't try was apx mode. Funny thing was, when I was in the store waiting to get the loaner phone, a lady brought in the exact same phone with calling issues. Everyone who has this phone hates it.
Anyways, reason for my post wasn't to get help fixing it, it was to warn you guys of the new crappy policies in place.
If they can't hook me up with an upgrade for a newer phone, then I'm tempted to pay off my tab and leave wind for mobilicity, at least then I wouldn't have to deal with getting crappy phones like this in the future. Wind (and T-Mobile for that matter) should have recalled all these phones when they realized that it was a P.O.S for lack of a better word. It hasn't even been a year and the phone has broken twice on me.
My words of wisdom was to tell you guys to pawn your phones off or try and trade for an amaze 4g or something before yours breaks (since it's probably inevitable) and you're stuck paying these bogus warranty fees. I'll update the thread once the loyalty department gets back to me this weekend.
Ontop of this as of April 1st of 2012 they charge 10$ for the unlock codes. I just called to get it unlocked and the representative claimed i had to be with them for "6" months not the usual 3 and its 10$ to unlock the phone.
If there has been a change in policy, does that mean you can get out of your contracts?

Just a little comment on the issue with your phone. I think your motherboard is fried . This is my second LG phone, and my first phone (P500) had an issue and wouldn't turn on, I sent it for repair and they told me the motherboard was dead.
So I'm guessing that's what happened with yours. This will be my last LG phone, probably forever. Would rather have an iphone, and I HATE apple products, than an LG phone.

See if you can find some information regarding the wintab contracts. considering its a "contract" that you sign for the company somehow i dont think its legal for them to enforce that upon the anyone who signed on before the date of change. For the others there is no contract as is pay as you go.

Unfortunately they don't do contracts. But I do have a WindTab which means I owe a certain amount of money on the phone. Maybe I can get out of paying it by saying their policy breached my agreement. I'll have to review my agreement!

I 100% agree with you. Last LG phone I ever get. I was going to buy an LG TV this week as well, but I feel like a dynex would be more reliable at this point!
Thanks guys!
Funny thing is I have 2 720p tvs, one is a dynex and one is an LG lol. The dynex tv is older and was more expensive at the time, but they both work great. The LG tv input ports are arranged better though and are easier to get to.
Sorry to hear about your issues, but please note that this is off-topic! Complaints about your provider have nothing to do with development. (As an aside, I'd also disagree with your assertion that "everyone" is unhappy with the phone. We have two G2x phones on Wind and really enjoy both the device and the service.)

If wind does not have any "contracts" whats stopping people from canceling the service and not paying off the windtab.

? if exchanging a G2X is not relevant here then the thread can be deleted/locked. Its a "General" section and not a development section. yes its related to the provider being ass within the use of a "G2X" warning others of such issues.

That's why I posted in the general section Mr. Moderator. Thanks for the heads up there. It's also called an exaggeration, most people on here are unhappy with these phones, and while I was in the store, another lady brought one in and she's had hers repaired 3 times already. I don't know what your problem is.

That's true, when looking through my "agreement" it says they must give me 30 days prior notice to any changes that are affecting my terms of agreement. I'm going to tell them that I don't agree with the warranty policy changes and I'm either accepting a replacement (different phone) or I'm leaving and filing a small claims. I'm already in the process of litigations with another cell phone provider, don't really want to disclose too much but they can be a real pain in the ass.
could you pm me the agreement you signed i assume it would be the same "blank out any personal information" i cant seem to find mine atm. need to dgi through a pile of papers.

"G2x general discussion" is not the same as "Complaints about my cellular provider". The OP even made a point of stating that the post "wasn't to get help fixing it, it was to warn you guys of the new crappy policies in place" at his provider. It's not a big deal, but there are already plenty of other sites to gripe about service issues.

Yea i know its not legal but i really need the phone to work :/
in the US, small claims court if you have proof (messages etc) of such an agreement, otherwise you could attempt to have the police seize her (your former) car for fraud and argue that circumstantially she just SUDDENLY owns your car, you SUDDENLY have her phone, and she has it locked down? Thats theft by deception (by a stretch), but also theft by misrepresentation and fraud on her part; argueably grand theft auto (again im familiar with US law).
Or have it repo'd by police and claim the buyer misrepresented terms of sale fraudulently. Is there a bill of sale for the car? any documentation?
I studied law in the US but never took the BAR, GF is an attorney. There HAS to be a loophole or evidence or lack of good faith showing she misrepresented or bought/traded/sold in bad faith. Feel free to PM me. Admit nothing, make no statements other than what you have. Collect save print and present everything you have.
And most importantly don't lie (not saying you have/did/will; just dont; makes litigation that much harder if both parties do).
