not sure if there is a better place for this.
Anyway, due to an odd billing/RMA issue, i am left with a new unopened MT4GS.
If you are interested in it please let me know.
I can link you to my eBay/confirmed PayPal account ect.
I figured I would try here to avoid paying eBay a huge cut

I'ts a good phone and deserves a good price. It's too bad we can't start a raffle; that could be fun.
You should post this in the xda market. Trying to sell a slide to people who already have a slide won't get you very far. There might be people willing to trade as well

Wasent this a flagship phone for t mobile?

I heard some tech sites calling this a superphone. It is a shame that this phone didn't get as much time in the spotlight as some others did. I think people assume it is lower end because of the smaller screen compared to the others, but that assumption is wrong. This is a high end phone.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using XDA App
Definitely a high end phone. Top of the line specs, the best camera available, great screen. I honestly think it did not become a "flagship" phone because of the keyboard. I feel that many consumers favor a smaller form factor over a keyboard. A shame, but what are you gonna do about it?
Only two things IMO that are bad about this phone. One, the battery cover is slightly oversized in some places which caused it to squeak while typing. This happened to two phones. I fixed this by throwing some tape on the battery. Minor issue, but come on, HTC...
Two, the screen is not gorilla glass. I dropped it from like a foot off the ground on some concrete... I know I know, even gorilla glass might be scratched... but there were legitimate gouges on the screen. Trenches, almost. My mt4g would probably barely even show anything. Again, come on, HTC. Ended up sending that in for a warranty though. Point is, be super careful with this screen. Always wear (screen) protection!

I picked up a G2x earlier today at lunch time
Pros:
Phone is very fast, looks good, and has good data speeds
GPS is absolutely instantaneous, and had me within under 10ft <--- flipping awesome
Screen looks good i.e. color and brightness, very comparable to amoled
HDMI mini
Stock android is nice, very little bloatware
[*[Camera takes very good pictures + flash is nice
Cons:
Beveled glass on the front looks nice, but doesn't feel well when holding
Phone is 20% heavier than the vibrant and is noticeable
Touch sensitivity isn't the greatest
Backlight bleed isnt as bad as some others on here, but still poorer than many other lcd phones ive had
Power button should have been on the top left
Very nice phone, I think LG did a good job with it. Just doesn't suit my tastes. I would highly recommend it to anyone though, even over the Vibrant/4g. But for me its back to Vibrant, awaiting the SGS2 if it ever comes out
These pros/cons are strictly personal opinions/taste please do not spam thread yelling or telling me I am a moron, its unnecessary.
How is the HDMI port a con?
Can you expand on what you mean about the feel of the glass, and also the touch sensitivity?
Touch sensitivity on the Samsungs were very good I agree. Your finger can actually be within a millimeter or so off the screen and it will pick you up, don't even have to touch it. Is this not the case with the LG? Wonder if this is software-tweakable/hackable.
those are some pretty minimal cons you have listed if you ask me. power button should be on the left? its not that serious. different stokes for different folks I s'pouse.
Ummm... I don't know what you're talking about with screen sensitivity... once I removed the protective film, it is just as sensitive as my Captivate was. And I have less miss-types as well because it seems like they used a tighter capacitive matrix (much like the Inspire has) than the Cappy.
I don't understand how HDMI is a con.
And the beveled glass just takes some getting used to - if you hold it with your hand wrapped around just below the camera, it adds more stability.
I agree with you on the weight though. I think manufacturers should make more emphasis on keeping weight down. Don't know why you'd want to carry any more weight than necessary. The usual argument is actually *for* higher weight, which I don't get at all. Weight doesn't make something "more solid." It actually usually makes it more prone to damage. A light, plastic object is much more likely to flex, bounce, and otherwise slowly absorb impact than a heavy, metal object which will immediately transmit the full G-force of the impact inside.

They are minimal I absolutely agree, which is why I stated the list is strictly personal opinion. I dislike the power button being so close to the volume keys, it doesn't feel good. Using thumb for volume rocker my pointer finger would either hit the left side top area or the top left area. I am right handed and hardly ever use the phone with left hand so its strictly a personal thing.

Cant explain this one honestly. Just from personal use Is easier on my Vibrant. I have also had the Vibrant since launch so it might be I am just used to it thats all.
I think how I "like" to hold it, it doesn't do so well with my hands. Maybe I have smaller hands idk lol. It feels awkward to hold comfortably

lol I wouldn't/don't expect them to redesign a phone just for me. Hence the cons/pros are personal opion/taste only. I think the Vibrant power button would have been a little nicer if it was easier to f*ing click so I agree with you on that one mostly. I cant comment on Thunderbolt since I have not held one yet, but I feel sorry for anyone who has one if its that heavy. So used to the Vibrant's weight.

To the OP, I have been using a Vibrant as well since July and I don't know about you but It's a relief to actually have a working GPS. I understand you like the lightness of the Vibrant but come on. It's so light, it feels like a cheap piece of plastic.

I can not agree with you more on the GPS. I don't even bother trying to use it on my Vibrant. I will however disagree to an extent on the "cheapness" I enjoy the feel of it. I only look at the front of the phone so the back can be whatever it needs to be and I could care less. I don't need a phone to look aesthetically pleasing, or feel luxurious. For me it feels just about right. Personal taste
U might be waiting a while for the sgs2. Hence why I just ordered the g2x. The sgs4g is slow as ****, and lags like a ************. Not to mention no camera flash, no internal memory. The g2x seems like a nice piece of hardware. Cant wait til ups gets here with it tomorrow.

I will not argue that. The night mode only works better if your actually outside taking a picture of something not so close which would render the flash useless anyways. I carry a regular camera with me when I need to take good pics, so phone camera isn't all that important to me.
So I noticed earlier today that I have dust underneath my screen. Is this a fairly common issue or a defect in a small number of phones?
I've only had the phone about a month and I don't think it had the dust to start out with. I don't work in a dusty environment or anything out of the ordinary.
My question is, is it worth exchanging the phone and getting a new one or is the same exact thing going to happen? If it is worth exchanging am I going to need to do a full wipe and reinstall of the base ROM before I do so?
I got my inspire a couple of days after it came out and I still don't have any dust under my screen
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
Sounds like it might just be me and a few others bad luck. I'm assuming I have to be on stock to return a phone? I love the phone, so I'd just be exchanging it for a new one.
Same here. Had phone since feb19. No dust under screen. If its really noticeable. And bothers you just exchange it. If you do go this route I would son and go back to stock for any warranty claims
no hay de queso no mas de papa
I have it as well and when I called to get it warrantied they laughed at me.
I almost disassembled the phone and cut one of the ear piece wires. Then EYE would have been the one laughing muahahahaha!
Then I dropped the phone the next day and made it ineligible for warranty.
I plan to clean the dust and replace the whole metal case for about 20 bucks here real soon. I really don't want to sell it, but I want an amoled plus screen and need more battery life

Sad to hear, would've been awesome if it came out before my 90 day return policy was up.
Is everyone else's power button on the ATT HOX feel like it's hard to push? Maybe not hard to push but it's such a low profile that I feel that I am having problems pushing it... Hard to explain. Just making sure there isn't something wrong with the phone that I have. Just took back a case to Best buy because the power button was soooo hard to push in it. Sometimes didn't register.
Thanks all
AJ
Not just you. I'm having a hard time getting used to it from my old Captivate. (Of course it's about 12 times better in every other category, so I'm not too upset!)
Oh I'm not upset.....I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S2 and this phone is by far the best phone I've ever used so far but since every phone I've ever used has had a raised power button be it on the side or top, I was just worried that maybe I got a defect but I guess I didn't.
That's why I love this board. So friendly and polite. Thank you.
AJ
Hmm... Was your case the platinum holster one? That's what I'm using right now and It's kinda ridiculous how hard it is to press. It registers maybe 25% of the time I press it. I use my nail now though so it works every time almost.

LOL! Yep sure was. Took it back to Best Buy and the returns lady said that this was the third one she had seen today returned! I just want a simple silicone case with good protection and camera lip thing. Is there anything like that out there for the ATT HOX?
Thanks all
AJ
Hehe, thought it might be the same one. I noticed the packaging to my case was actually opened when I bought it. Someone might have returned it Sunday morning xD.
Not really sure what other cases are available that fit correctly. I recommend not getting one on eBay. Most block the camera. There's a thread about cases and pouches in the accessories section.
Sent from my HTC One X
I just actually picked up that case today! I'm going to return it as well because I too am having a difficult time pressing it. Also, the fourth row of the speaker grill was also being covered. Pretty poor design.

I got a rocketfish gel/silicone semitransparent grey case at best buy for $25...it is light, fits snug and doesn't cover the speaker..covers the back well so that when you sit it down, the camera lens is in no danger of being scratched as the camera protrudes a little bit without case...I have same issue w power button but it's not hard to press...it's that it's so low profile that its hard to feel it...fantastic phone and battery is amazing...got 26 hrs out of first charge...got about 9 on my Vivid...but it was a 1600 mah battery where this one is 1800 or 1850, not sure though..and phone is about 1.5 ounces lighter..battery is better because it is embedded...you lose power anytime you 'plug" in a battery where the contacts are...this battery is directly on the board so there is no loss...same principle applies to hard wired appliances compared to those with plugs...coax cables with multiple splitters result in signal degradation on tvs...I think this is why HTC opted for embedded batteries as people complained about battery life...although my various iPhones in the past had poor battery life...but it is best to charge phone ONLY when battery is down to 10% or less...every time u charge, you lose approximately 30-45 seconds of total battery per charge so the less you charge the better...
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
Seriously? Do you really think your great batterylife is due to it being "embedded"(which it really isnt) and not having contacts(still has a connector)? Really?
Do you really think you lose 30seconds off your battery life by charging it before it is run down?
Ponderous.
Really erroneous info guy. Not helping. Did you just decide to make things up?
Battery life is better because of improvements with hardware. It uses less juice. PERIOD.
Lithium ion is extremely tolerant of charging from any level. Should have no adverse effect if you charge at any time, full, empty or in between.

Was your 8088 hardwired to your A/C at home so it was more efficient? Programming != electrical engineering.
Yes there is a TINY bit of loss by using contacts. It's an easy check with an ohmmeter. But it really only applies to high current applications, which we are not dealing with here. And no, it's not enough to make any measurable difference. And your coax analogy is ridiculous. We aren't dealing with gain, SNR, taps, etc. Geez.
Going back on topic, I now get 95% registers with the power button. If you press on the far left of the button it works almost every time with the platinum case. I think it just needed to be broken in.

Got another One X last weekend. I checked the screen thoroughly in store to make sure it was flawless. I have now however noticed that there is a spec of dust under the screen. It was definitely not there when I checked it in store, spent ages on a solid white background making sure.
So is there anyway I can try and get rid of it. It got there on its own somehow so I must at least be able to move it off the side of the screen one way or another. It's no big deal if I can't get rid of it as its hardly noticeable in every day use.
I have tried gently tapping the screen and knocking it on its side but it hasn't moved so far. I don't want to try to hard encase I damage the phone. Don't want to try and take the phone apart and attempt to separate the touch component from the LCD and try either as the phone is so new.
Att will exchange for dust under the screen. But. When the phones been on and in use allowing the screen to get warm about 30 minutes lightly tap in the opposite direction. Should move the dust out.
Work on my iPhone back in the day. :/

The dust under this one is nothing like the ones I unboxed in store a while back, some specs were almost as big as the dot on the letter i which is why I'm going to stick with this one.
I don't think it's to much to ask to get one without dust under the screen seeing as how there are many out there with defect free phones. I feel like I am entitled to the same experience as them, paid the same hard earned money as them after all.. I suspect though that many probably have dust etc but have either not noticed or choose to live with it.
Your right about the phone being extraordinary, which is why I haven't stuck with a refund. Really no going back after you have had a phone like this.
Edit: check this forum out. I'm not the only one with issues and multiple returns. It's a shame so many are having repeat issues.

Um not to be a complete **** but after working retail for 6 years as a store manager for At&t and several years in I.T / EE / and project management. The chances of you running into 9 defects of a single model and brand new replacements are are probably slimmer than you getting struck by lightning and winning the lottery together. I would start asking myself am I OCD, do I have dementia, should I be ruling out Delirium..
Ok, sorry I'm being an ass. Just saying.. you either have the worst luck in the world. I read your post completely wrong, or; its you. Either way hope you get it figured out. This phone really is something extraordinary.

LOL
This guy worked in retail & engineering and the bases of his argument is the fact he thinks dust and imperfections are ludicris for someone to complain about! Now if he worked at the HTC manufacturing plant where they made these phones and can honestly produce manufacturing data depicting margins of error of defect in the manufacture of these devices in several respective categories then we can break the odds down mathematically and prove whether this poster is full of $hit, delusional etc!
Until then I'll keep lolling @ the response It was good
He's got a point... Say the odds of you getting a messed up screen is 1 in 1000... Multiply .001 by itself 9 times. Those are the odds of you actually getting 9 broken phones in a row.
Edit... It's 1x10^-27.... So yeah, you'd win the lottery a couple of times.

100% willing to bet that none of those people gave the full story. Phone screens DO NOT just brake, they don't just "magically" crack. Something with force caused, one way or another
You're safe, I go in and out of my phone case all the time and my S4 is still like New. Looks just as beautiful as day one, zero hiccups!

its just to pretty for case. I have a poetic atmosphere and its nice btu the phone is just to beautiful to be hidden in a case imo.
breaking in pockets haha, they sat on it or something.
they don't just break by themselves, either trolls or not telling the whole truth.

I know how you feel, I hate hiding my beautiful S4 in this ugly Incipio (getting a nice Spigen soon). The phone is built to extremely high quality, don't buy into the "metal" ignorance. Polycarbonate is much more durable and just as strong per pound as aluminum. Don't be afraid, the S4 does not take damage easily if not no more then any other phone.
If you want 100% relief that you can replace your phone for under a couple hundred bucks then get a dependable third party phone insurance program (Don't bother with AT&T's...)
I do running everyday caseless carring the phone in my pocket. No worries man!

I did that once and thought I was gonna have a heart attack, never will I run without a case, but that's me! Glad to hear it holds up well, which to be honest I figured it would, I just won't risk it
Hahaha! Yeah everything you consider to protect a $600 bucks investment really matters!

And I bet most of those people claiming their GS4s broke in their pocket were iPhone fanboys, wanting to damage Samsung's reputation.
Why would I say such a thing? Because I used to be one of those fanboys...

My boss at work is an Apple Fan and even himself said he would rather have the S4 after trying my phone. He says it even looks and feels better, HA IN YOH FACE APPLE!
Btw sorry to any real Apple fans, they are a great company!
I spoke to soon.

Well, I loved the iPhone, but I was constantly waiting for a jailbreak to come out for each iOS version, just to quickly lose my jaikbreak if something went wrong and a restore was needed. And knowing that these headaches don't happen as often on android, and that rooting is not as necessary as a jailbreak on iOS, made me make the switch. And I'm glad I did.
I still prefer the iPhone's build materials though. I've never been a fan of plastic.

The Samsung fanboyism here is just as bad as Apple fanboyism, but because its here, its okay right? Its hilarious that the fanboys here don't see the hypocrisy of their statements. Pretending there is no issue and kissing ass to Samsung isn't going to get us, as the consumer, anything positive. Samsung doesn't care about you and more then Apple does.
Read the thread yourself. One person witnessed the screen crack while they were having their contacts transferred to their new S4 at the store. Obviously he got a new one right then and there but it WAS just sitting there.
For all those who say it's impossible for a screen to crack with no external force applied, that's not necessarily true. I believe I read somewhere that the S4's AMOLED screen and the Gorilla Glass 3 are glued together. If that's true, then it is possible that poor assembly technique could lead to internal stress in the assembly. For example, the two pieces should be allowed sufficient time for temperature normalization in a (temperature & humidity) controlled environment prior to assembly (gluing together); failure to do so would cause a bending stress (bending moment) pre-load in the assembled display.
I imagine poor assembly procedures would end up as batch-to-batch variation, so maybe there are some bad batches out there.

I'm thinking the same thing (bad batch).. or maybe these are all late friday models (for those who don't know this term, its used in the auto industry. cars made late on a friday afternoon are said to be generally inferior since workers mentally 'check out' and start thinking about the weekend and don't pay attention/care to what they're doing.
Its dissapointing that Samsung is pretending its not an issue. This should be covered under the 1 year manufacturer warranty. I don't know if it'll happen to me but
now I'm forced to pay for extra warranty just to protect myself in case this happens. My next phone probably won't be a Samsung because of this.

Sorry, but this kind of talk is just silly and pointless. Every time someone complains about a possible defect there's always a chorus of nerds who say "well, it's not happening to me so it must be your fault". It's tiresome. Maybe many of the cracked S4s weren't treated like raw eggs, but maybe the S4 cracked where other phones (notably the iPhone) would not. It's obviously kind of a delicate device.
Now, maybe people should be aware of that when they are selecting a phone, but the responses here swing too far into a weird kind of victim-blaming type area. It's not unreasonable to expect some durability from a phone.
My gf dropped her s4 case less on concrete 4 times now and has only had a few scuffs on bezel/rim.. Clearly the phones that broke so easily had defects

If the glass and the screen are glued together, I would wonder what the effects of cooling and heating would be? Two devices glued together, expanding and contracting at different rates would do some strange things.
This would explain the story about the screen cracking while contacts were being transferred; cold phone sitting in a box, and it heated up too quickly as the battery, wifi, data, processor all revved up after just being powered on.
I understand why folks would be suspicious of stories on the internetz of phones breaking; today, very few people seem to want to take responsibility for their actions, such as sitting on their new expensive toy. But to dismiss such claims right away on a newly-released device when we don't know of all its faults yet is not wise either. Sometimes karma is a *****.
