Can't connect to computer - Verizon Droid Charge

All of a sudden my laptop does not connect to my phone....I tried a numbe rof things...I reinstalled the drivers.....etc...
is there something I am missing?
WHen I connect....the battery charges.....but I do not get anything in the drop down notifications bar...I rebooted puter also...
this happened all of a sudden.....was able to connect before...
I did try other usb ports also
thanks in advance

What about a different cable?

what rom/kernel were you running when it happened? as asked before have you tried a different cable? is USB debugging mode checked under development settings? if it is uncheck it and try connecting then do vice versa... also can you try and connect to another pc if possible, that can help determine if the problem's with the phone or the pc
edit: also again if possible can you take the cable you were using and connect another smartphone or device to your pc, then to a second pc as well? this should rule out the cable if it works

active sync screws up my keyboard?

I don't know why, but ever since i got my USB keyboard.
when i plug my phone in to active sync my keyboard and mouse acts up.
it's like it turns it self on and off.
i type or move for 5 seconds then it stops.
it also seems like it seems to be moving between windows?
like and alt-tab kinda thing.
cuz the IE window would got active and unactive.
am i making any sense?
does anyone else have this problem?
thanks!
bump, please help.
Active synce used to work great on PC but now it's acting up.
I recently replaced my KVM switch with a USB one, so i can use my USB keyboard and wireless mouse.
but ever since I did this, when i plug my phone in to active sync my keyboard acts up.
it's like it turns it self on and off.
for example, I'm chatting with someone, i type for 5 seconds then it stops, and i have to click on the window again.
am i making any sense?
does anyone else have this problem?
the PCI usb port has 4 ports, on it, it has an external 4 port USB hub, 1 usb cable that i use to plug my phone in to sync or d/l pics from my camera, and one port for the KVM switch. could it be my USB port is overloaded?
So i decieded to plug my phone into a USB port on the motherboard. the same problem happens!
so does it rule out my PCI usb ports were over loaded?
I also tried just leaving in the KVM and plugging in the phone. the samething happens!
does anyone know what could be causing this? I installed and reinstalled active sync many times.
Please help me!
hmmm !strange behavior,I'm using both a usb Logitech wireless keyboard and a usb cordless Logitech MX 1000 Laser Mouse.I have also got a separate usb cable attached for my phone, which I use very regularly, but have never had any sort of problem.
Although, I have eight usb ports on my PC,I have plugged each to a separate usb port, well as there are some usb ports in your PC which are cable to work as usb2 while are cable only usb1 data transfer.Checkout and try to connect to ports with usb 2 data transfer capable, check if it works.
secondly, disable 'connection through usb' option in the Activesync and connect the phone with the pc via usb cable and check or there's another option in the Activesync to enable connection through network connectivity or something,as I don't have the Activesync installed in my PC at present ,I can't tell you about it at present.
thirdly, which windows are you using ? if you are using winxp than upgrade to sp2 ,it'll upgrade your usb drivers automatically or download usb update drivers from Microsft site and update your usb drivers, hope it'll solve this problem.
Cheers
Thanks, but i don't know how to get active sync to connect thru network?
all the usb ports on my computer are usb 2.0 except for 2.
i tried it on all the usb ports and i get the same results.
thanks in advance.

This option enable network connections or somthing is available in the settings option of the Activesync.Right click the small icon in the Task bar of Activesync near the clock icon and you'll get the settings option, check out if this helps, good luck
Thanks, but i found out what caused the problem.
Logitech Set point caused it! are you using setpoint?
I disabled setpoint and now it works fine.
sigh...

Fuze not being recognized by Computer

My Fuze all of a sudden, when I plug it into my computer via USB, doesn't launch the USB to PC connection manager, and my computer doesn't recognize my device. My Fuze still draws power and charges through the USB cable, but I cannot Active sync it or put it into Disk drive mode. I've tried it on three seperate computers with the same result. Is something wrong with my Fuze? I've tried flashing several different ROMs with the same result. I've tried it through my headphone adapter and my TV out cable with the same result. Please Help, this is very frustrating.
Please can someone help. This is incredibly frustrating. Even if I can warranty exchange the phone, I can't flash back to standard SPL, because I can't sync to my computer to flash it.

That is really strange. Have you tried looking at the setting in: Start - Settings - Connections tab - USB to PC?
Yeah, its all normal. I have it set to ActiveSync(Synce withOutlook)
I have Enable advanced Network checked(even unchecked it doesn't work)
and I have it to ask me about connection type when connected. The connection type never pops up when I plug in though.
Solved
The two USB cables I was using were broken or something, because now with a third USB cable I tried it works fine.
might be too simplistic, but i've made a similar mistake before...
are you checking the screen that appears on your fuze when you connect the usb cable? is the 'use as modem' option checked by accident?
EDIT: nevermind, didn't read your entire last post.
The weird part is that the USB cable that came with the Fuze no longer works. Maybe its the ROM I'm running?
Had the same problem. The fix for me was to open Active Sync on the phone and manually click sync. After that, all was good.

Captivate will not connect to computer

I'm trying to unlock my dads old Captivate, but I need to connect it to the computer to do this. No matter what I do, this phone will not connect or be recognized by the computer. I plug it into the computer and it makes the little beep it makes when you connect, but thats it. No "USB Connected" on the top bar or anything.
I can connect my captivate fine, its just his. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and that wont work. Any ideas?
Do you have the drivers installed?
Sent from my SGH-I897
Ye, the drivers are installed. Would it be a driver problem though if my one captivate works, but the other? That sounds like a phone problem to me.
Settings> applications>usb(something or other)> mass storage.
Also make sure usb debugging is enabled...
The froyo settings might be different...the usb options could be in "wireless and network" instead of applications.

Nope, that doesnt work either. Its like its not even connected. Nothing showing up on my computer, nothing on the phone. The only thing that shows up when you plug it in is the charger icon comes on to let you know its charging.
i would recommend that you try another computer if that doesn't work, restore your phone to factory and if that doesn't work then you have two out of three possibilities that might lol, be seriously i think its not a drivers issue if the other phone is working. It might be a problem with the computer recognizing the port i really cant think of anything else..

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
If it's not connecting to either captivate it's a driver issue. Make sure that USB debugging is on and that under the application usb setting you have it set to ask on connect. Try a different usb port on the pc, or another cable. I had a bad cable a while back that would charge but not connect, it was even the one that came with the phone.
Use a USB port off the back of the computer, coming DIRECTLY off the MB. There have been tons of issues with using remote USB ports. If it's beeping when it connects, it's being seen by the computer. Just that there's a problem with getting the proper info.
I get this problem sometimes too. This is how I solve it. Under USB settings select Samsung Kies and plug the USB cable into your computer and phone. See if your computer recognizes your phone. Mine won't recognize Mass Storage but will Kies. I don't have the program installed so windows will say Drivers Not Successfully Installed. Once you have done that, restart the computer and phone with USB cord unplugged. Once both come back on, switch your phone back to Mass Storage and plug in your USB cable to both the computer and phone and see if it will be detected by your computer. If not I would try a different USB cable. That is what works for me when I have that problem.

Some cappies have issues with generic cables. Make its the original or a high quality one.

Would be a good idea to check if the following
1. Settings- applications- USB settings : make it ask on connection.
2. Change the USB port which you connect

help! my sensation cant be detected on my computer

Yes I know some will say install drivers or slide down the notifications.
But the problem is when I plug in, there isn't any notification for you to switch to disk drive mode.
Everything was working fine last week. There was no problems detecting my phone on my home and any PC at work. I have drivers install in my computer and can do adb commands
But now, when I plug in, it only shows the charging light.
I have done the following
On and off the USB debug option
Reboot phone
Try a 4 micro USB cable
Tried different USB slots on the computers
Use usbdeview and delete all HTC drivers and resinstall also not working
Remove my micro SD card and reinsert.
All doesn't work.
Strangely, one thing does. When I plug in the PC and I need to reboot, with my phone still plug in my PC. The notification will appear and I can do all things normally. But once I unplug and plug in again, same problem. Only can be solved with next reboot with phone plug in before hand. If windows is already loaded, it cannot be detected.
I though it was the rom. But I went to boot loader and same thing. It shows fastboot AC. If I do the reboot windows method, it will show fastboot USB .. will show fastboot AC if I replug in
I am starting to think my USB port on my phone is faulty.. any ideas?
Try plugging it and wait for a long time. Since I formated my computer it takes like 10-15min for my phone to show up after I plugged it. No idea what's causing it though.
Done that , charged it for 1hr plus, same
Best thing is try different cable, there is some issue with htc cable your pc sometime dont recognize phone, Other thing you can do it is keep ur phone connected to pc then boot your phone to Hboot or bootloader or fast boot, your pc will recognize your phone with generic driver.

why mess with cables... AirDroid.
connect your phone to the pc via wifi.

but if you must connect via cable for something... have you checked the most obvious place? (sounds like you probably have but just in case...)
settings > connect to pc > default connection type

Flashed ROM......
Mine is doing the same thing. It didn't start until I flashed the new ROM. When in Windows, I just un-plug it, and re-plug it. Then it shows up immediately. But it always seems to show in flashboot.

and if that isn't working try it with HTC sync. which gives you the drivers of the device.

Is there where USB cannot be recognized issue? If this is, I have a simple solution which took me forever to figure out.
I know this method sounds ridiculous, but give it a try. Unplug your charger connected to your computer/laptop and plug it in to a different outlet. Replug the USB with your phone connected, give it a sec, and it should work.
what operating system is your PC running? I was gonna say perhaps it might be a faulty USB port...
i have the same problem
What I do is go to devices and printers and then android phone then properties then hardware and disable the reenable the drivers. As soon as you reenable the drivers it should show up in disk mode. Hope this helps. This is the only phone I've had this problem with.

Question Phone no longer being recognized by computer. Not even getting a prompt on phone when plugged in.

As the title states, my phone is no longer being recognized by my computer when I plug it in. I've tried multiple cables, multiple ports on the computer, both ports on the phone, factory resetting the phone, uninstalling and re-installing drivers on my computer, booting to Ubuntu so I wouldn't need to worry about drivers. Nothing has worked. I'm not even getting the USB prompt on my phone when I plug it in. It DOES charge but I'm not able to transfer files, adb or anything. ASUS wants me to send the phone in but I don't want to go who knows how long without my phone, plus I don't think it's right that I have to pay to ship it when it's their phone that is ****ting the bed. Could anyone PLEASE help me? Thanks.

If your phone won't connect to the computer using the USB cable, then the FIRST thing most people do you've done, which is switch cables and rebooting the phone (factory reset is extreme but you did that also).
The second thing most people do is install the manufacturer's drivers, which you also did.
The third thing you can do though, is connect the phone to the computer WITHOUT the USB cable (i.e., over Wi-Fi) because that will work even if your phone port is broken and even if the USB cables are bad and even if the drivers aren't on the computer.
Below are screenshots of just some of the ways to connect the phone to the computer over Wi-Fi without any cables, and if you want, you can follow one of my tutorials on the subject.
Hope this helps.

Would I still be able to adb using the wifi method? My main issue is trying to remove the old Google Pay app. Which I'm unable to unless it's through adb.
Just an update. I was, in fact, able to run adb commands while connected using wi-fi. Thank you @GalaxyA325G for your input.

Not sure what to tell you about your signal dropping, but
is the video I used to finally use adb via WiFi.
Have you tried clearing the adb authorizations (in developer options) with the phone disconnected and then connecting? Sometimes a change can trigger the phone to stop recognizing the computer as allowed without treating it as a new connection.
