I got a Sidekick 4G yesterday for my daughter. I rooted it and all was good. The data connection worked fine. I installed ROM manager and made a backup, then installed TouchMIUIwiz. While setting up the phone afterwards (apps etc.) I had it using Wifi. I didn't realize that the data connection didn't work at all. I compared the mobile network settings against my Vibrant which has had a 10 different roms on it and never had a problem. The settings are the same. I tried repairing permissions, and then finally wiped the phone and installed Smooth Maximus. Rebooted and still no mobile network.
I'm going to wipe it again and see if that works, is there anything else I can try?

You can always try flashing a different modem.
It's working now. I had the internet shut off on my daughters account with her last smart phone because she got in trouble. The idiot at T-Mobile told me when I bought this phone that it was re-enabled. It wasn't but now is.

I have search all thread/forums/questions and I didn't found anything similar. Some threads says cause is old SIM card, lemon phone batch and TMO network issue. Not sure where this will fit.
Just want to share this info, be gentle noob here, New TMO customer/new phone
I got my htc sensation few days ago and root it on Stock ROM then install a bunch of apps and freezed a couple apps(aka bloatware) using titanium backup pro. After 3 days I lost all data connection (gprs/2g/3g/4g) except WIFI of course.
Called TMO-US they said that they reset my network and we do a whole bunch of troubleshooting. Still no luck but when I Tried using my sim card on my old phone(HTC inspire) I got a FULL 4g/network signal. WHOA!!!!
I didnt give up because htc sensation is a beast! but after spending alot of hours searching for the fix , no luck... then I decided to let the phone go since Im still covered my the 30 day grace period. Upon looking for a different phone on TMO lineup can't find any phone that can beat the htc sensation. So I resort to getting the same phone replacement.

Got the instructions to "de brand" the phone. S-off and unroot.
Downloaded stock rom and install it. on first boot 4G icon popped up.. hmmm... tried to browse the net and download some apps on the market check
so I download htc software updates(using 4G), reroot the phone and restore my backup.
I assume the cause is somewhere along the line of
- installing stray apps and freezing bloatwares - (not sure which one- too many to know) or
- some rogue processes triggered the data connection lost or
- need to do htc update first before roorting or
- I just got a freak accident upon rooting.
Doesn't matter I got my data connection back. So far so good.....

i had a very very similar problem as yours.
before I was s-off/rooted it was running fine with 3g over in asia. zero problems with the stock rom. started reading on s-off for about a week and went into Insertcoin cos that seem like the most popular.
after rooting to insert coin, problems started ... i could hardly get any 3g network even though the icon showed there was data going in and out. flashed from IC 2.2.5 to 2.2.7 and thought it would work itself out, 2.2.7 to 2.3.0 didn't work as well. Gave up and jumped to ARHD and every thing worked
It looks like both Insertcoin and ARHD uses two different kernels/radios. IC works on TMOUS for majority of the users, so you might want to look at InsertCoin and try that out on your 4G set
This is getting more interesting.. .As Im planning to venture to try different roms.

Any advantage using InsertCoin? Because for now Im happy with my set up HTC sense is a bit laggy but not all the time and speedtest says 6mb++ download : 3mb++ upload.
if you're with tmobile & the your data worked with another phone & not the Sensation, your IMEI was probably blacklisted if you don't have and "Android Approved" data plan according to tmobile.
When the phone first came out a lot of us were having that problem. Our data would work for a few days & then would stop completely. I was running the original Total Internet plan from back when the MDA was release & it shut off. Tmobile didn't remove the flag until I converted over to an android plan.
My guess is you're on an older data plan & they want you to switch to their throttled data plan

Since Im a new customer with a new phone(HTC sensation that came from them). Im positive its brand new not refurbished so I assume IMEI is good.
I lost the data 3 days after I rooted the phone with S-OFF and SuperCID and a few tweaks. but I got the data back when Im in the process of de-branding (unroot and S-ON)
Although I didn't reach the S-ON process because I got the data back after installing the stock ROM/RUU. So I reroot it again.
The only thing I can remember on TMO side is the tech rep told me that they reset my data connection not sure if that helps

If you lose connection again, call tmobile and make sure that they have you on an android data plan. I had a winmo phone before my sensation and they have 2 different kinds of data plans. Not sure why. My data stopped working after a couple of days. I had to call support and have them switch it away from the winmo data to the android. They might have screwed it up when you signed up.
the android approved was in quotes because it's no different than any other plan, but it's the term they use to get those that were on older non-throttled plans to switch over.
If you're a new tmobile customer than I don't know what's wrong, but if you're an older one who had a data plan from an old blackberry, windows mobile, or other smartphone, they blacklisted your Sensation IMEI until you switched over. That's probably why you could get it to work on a previous phone, which wasn't blacklisted, & not the Sensation

All I can remember on tmous side is they reset my connection and I forgot to mention on the earlier post that I have my att number ported into tmous, probably thats the cause.
But I assume its the phone because after all the things that tmous have done I waited a couple of days nothing happen.. the only way I get the data connection is instaliing the srock rom\RUU.
Its been 5 days now, I've install the same apps that I got before and freeze a few bloats.. Still got data connection. Happy camper here...
ive been running eclipse v1.4 with pbj kernel with no problems til this morning. ive completely lost data connection. already tried restoring back to a previously working backup in cwm but no luck. and tried restoring to stock with odin and flashing different modems still no luck.
i had tried out jt's latest ics rom about a week ago but restored back with no problems and had data working.
please help. any ideas would be great. my only other thought is that the sim is bad.
Sim could be bad Verizon will give you one for free if that is the case or could just be another data outage try putting your phone on 3g only and see if you have data

its what i figure. ive already tried toggling back and forth between 3g and 4g to get the radio to reset. nothing. toggle data on and off. still nothing
Might be a short outage on Verizon also. Been out in multiple cities today for a couple of hours at a time. Prepping for the expansion this week.

I was on embryo 6.11 (a mod of the jellybean leak) and one day I noticed that my phone was off,
so i turned it back on, and it was stuck at the samsung logo,
so I attempted to do a nandroid restore, and my phone was unable to read my microSd card.
long story short my microSD got fried somehow (could not even reformat).
So I decided to try out CM10.1 so I formatted the system, and data, and flashed it,
I am using net10 with a tmobile sim card, so I selected the APN for it, and I was unable to access the internet,
no 3g/4g or even gprs, or what ever the other super slow one's called.
So I formatted data/system and flashed back to embryo, and used the radio I was using before,
and I set up the apn again, and no luck, just like with cm, I could make calls, and send/receive texts, but no data.
I made sure I had an IMEI, and that 'mobile data' was checked, but no luck,
I also tried the t-mo radio, but no luck (at&t radio give me better reception anyway..)
I read some other posts and followed their suggestions, such as flashing cm10 stable, then going to cm10.1
but nothing seems to work, could my 4g/3g antenna have been fried? is their any way to check that?

Finally got a hold of net10,
turns out, their 'unlimited data' dose not cover 12gb's of uploading in 3 weeks
... they 'suspended' my data use.

I was uploading a bunch of youtube videos, 1080p, mp4/aac (my home internet has terrible upload speed)
they were each about 1.5-2GB I'd been doing that for a while, so I figured it'd be ok,
But I guess they finally caught on to me. (lol)
I've been having a lot of trouble lately getting my data to work. I turn it on and can send pictures and receive them, I get 4g and everything is fine. But when I turn data on and try to surf the Web or check reddit or try and use Pandora on my phone I cannot get data to work. I'm running v23 PAC and I've tried installing the latest radio but the best I ever get for data for regular use is 1x. I know I'm in a 3g/4g because I know of 3 people with Verizon gs3s and if we all stand side by side everyone is getting 3g or 4g and I cannot even get 1x. Any ideas?

I had the opposite problems I couldn't send mms but everything else work fine data make calls jst could not send mms i was on pac man niteless i did wipe cache dalvik still no go reflash gaaps and no reflash rom n gaaps.. U can try factory reset then reflash rom and gaaps.. I gt tired after two hrs of trying to figure it out i gave up and went back to liquidsmooth 3.0 beta
I'm on Liquid 2.9 now, with no issues sending mms with or without wifi on which I keep reading about. The problem you are talking about with signal levels I had a few flashes ago. I went through a few roms to end up here but I had that problem come back with different roms both TW and AOSP. I toggled my network settings to gsm, turned roaming on, then pulled battery and sim out for 5 minutes or so. Loaded them back in the phone, went back to network settings and toggled back to LTE, and roaming off. Seems to help lock on to the 4g signal for me. Don't know if it will help or not but I hope so.
If you switch roms again you might try to wipe both caches, data reset and wipe the system a couple times before flashing something new. **Just a suggestion that seems to help clear up any left over scraps from previous flashing for me, of course backup like always and it sucks when phones brick but it happens.

Just switched over from the Iphone and liking the Android platform so far. So in my tinkering quest, I think something got screwed up with my APN.
I flashed ViperOne 3.1 to my HTC One (T-Mobile phone, but I am using an AT&T SIM) with 4.3. Radio. 4A.21.3263.03 with the latest firmware from Tmobile (side note, Im still not sure if/how the firmware changes when flashing a new/custom ROM).
Anyway, I flashed Viperone and everything went fine and updated the new APN for ATT. With the stock phone, I had been using the "pta" APN and got great reception and LTE speeds. With the Viperone initial flash, same reception, same speeds.
Next, I realized I didn't install the Superuser stuff so I thought I had to reflash everything...which I did. On the 2nd go around, now I can't get the pta APN to work. I get cell service (same reception as before with full bars, but no data). The only way to get data and cell is use the phone APN but cell is 3G (>1mb) and 1 bar at best.
The only thing I remember doing that could have possibly screwed something up inbetween the two flashes of Viperone, is that I installed AdAway. Not sure it this would effect anything or not.
I've also tried totally wiping the phone and installing Viperone for a third time via a sideload. I have not tried going back to a completely, locked stock phone yet. Also, tried loading AndroidRevoltion but same deal. But given I am a noob, I am still a bit worried about screwing something else up flashing back to a stock locked TMobile phone.
Any ideas on how to fix the APN issues? I have tried all settings in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2172110
As well as a couple others and combos, but nada.

Some more info, I took my phone down the street and messed around a bit at a local coffee shop. I was amazed when I didn't change anything and I got a whopping 46mb downspeed. Haven't really seen that in my area. Still only had 2 signal bars when everywhere else is usual 5. I am in San Diego so coverage is never an issue. Anyway, I then traveled about 10 blocks away to run an errand and it dropped back down to under 1mb. Same 1-2 bars. Something is definitely funky. The phone and data works. talking on it seems fine, just doing any network data stuff is very slow other than that one instance.
