[Q] What is Galaxy S bluetooth bug fix in GB 2.3.5? - Captivate General

The Wikipedia Android Version History says in GB 2.3.5 they 'Fixed Bluetooth bug on Samsung Galaxy S'.
Can anyone relate the details of this BT bug fix? Just wondering how much emphasis i should give (if any) when choosing a rom as to whether its based on 2.3.5.

Still updates for Galaxy S?
I have no idea what the problem is... but this is interesting since this is specific to the Galaxy S and I had in mind that no more update would be apply to this phone... Did Google made that fix to convince Samsung to continue keeping their phone up to date?

The maybe fixed one bug
and created another...
Since upgraded to 2.3.x (4 or 5) I have major bluetooth issues
After reboot, phone connects to car kit and conversation is heard.
However, after leaving the car and comming back, phone seems to connect to handsfree, but audio (both a2dp and mono) is not heard (not from phone and not from car's speakers...)
Serious issue!!!

I would guess it's the voice command thing. This wasn't working in Froyo, but it's working now.

Samsung Omnia 7 choppy bluetooth playback

Hi All,
I would like to know if anyone is experiencing some problems with bluetooth headset choppy playback on Samsung Omnia 7 and/or WP7 in general.
My problem is that music is just unlistenable on my device using my Motorola S9 headset. Sound is cutting every 1 or 2 second !
Using wired headset or external speaker is ok.
Thanks for you answers/feedback
Regards,
Thomas
no problems with my jabra bt headset and my hd7. Just as smooth and loud as wired for audio (just wish videos were supported).
Have you tried deleting the profile and reconnecting?
Also might try another BT (maybe borrow someone's just to check), to help narrow it down to your BT or your phone.
My wife has problems with motorola BT's and android devices.
I use a bluetooth headset all the time and sound playback can cut out if the phone is too far away from the headset, or if arms / clothing get in the way of the signal. I tend to keep the phone in my breast pocket and that's OK. In the trouser pocket, it's terrible.
So try putting the phone nearer to your headset and see if that makes any difference.
Bluetooth radio is very, very low power, and it's not surprising the signal can get cut off by objects that are in the way. Distance is a big factor too. I guess some headsets are better at receiving a reduced signal than others.
Thanks for your answers !
No matter what I try, it doesn't work... But I remember having tried my headset in the first times I got my device and it was working, I am sure ....
I am going to wait until nodo is out and we'll see if it solve the problem.
Thanks
Thomas
I have the nodo update and experience the same problem as you--choppy bluetooth playback with interruptions every 2nd second or so. The worst thing is that playback was perfectly fine before the update, and if i roll back to previous version playback is fine again. The choppy playback seems to have been introduced by nodo. Has anyone else experieced the same?
My phone is:
OS version: 7.0.7390.0
Firmware revision number: 2424.11.1.1
Hardware revision number: 3.15.0.4
Radio software version: 2424.11.1.1
Radio hardware version: 0.0.0.800
Bootloader version: 4.1.0.5
Chip SOC version: 0.36.2.0
It might be work noting that the phone had copy paste functionality on delivery (I got the phone a couple of weeks ago). The version number was pre nodo, but more recent than the vast majority of Omnia 7's out there.
Happens on my Omnia 7 as well. Solution? Disabled wireless.

Does not seem to do the trick for me. Tried to disable data, wireless and GPS. Still the same chopping playback. Do you have the same versions as I have?
No, I don't have the nodo update and the only difference aside from that is the radio software.
2424.10.10.6
I had the same problem with my BT headset after the NODO update.
Solution (at least for me):
using Registry Editor:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Bluetooth/AudioGateway
Set SupportCLI from 0 to 1
My BT headset works like charm again
I have no idea why MS changed that value in the update...
Thanks for your answer, guess I'll have to find out how to modify registry on Windows Phone 7.

Neither have I. Seems like they are developing procedures on how to release updates to the new platform. Seems like things can get a bit complicated with OEMs in the loop. Quite impressed anyhow by how smooth the update was either way, quite an accievement to deliver updates to all windows phones.
This is concerning to me, as a Samsung Focus owner on AT&T. I've been awaiting the NoDo update for the much-needed Marketplace bug fix(es) and application launch performance improvements. But the Bluetooth implementation and operation works perfectly for me now, and I really hope Samsung/Microsoft didn't botch it with this update on the Focus too. I usually plug my phone into a cassette adapter in my car (using the 3.5mm headphone jack) and wear my Bluetooth headset for calls. Calls are directed through Bluetooth, while Zune playback goes through the wired headphone jack. It's perfect and I really hope they don't change anything because unlike Windows Mobile, there are no advanced settings to fix or change this behavior. I shouldn't have to use a XAP or registry editor to fix it either.

Bluetooth connect/disconnect/connect - Audi OEM BT

Searched for this problem but couldn't find anything directly related. Is there an advanced search option on the forum?
I just got a Samsung S2 LTE/Skyrocket on the Rogers network here in Canada and love the phone so far. Only problem is when I have the phone in the car, the Bluetooth connects properly when I fire the car up, but it disconnects after a short period of time (2-4 minutes)...then it may reconnect on its own...then disconnects minutes later.
The car is a 2008 Audi RS4 which is basically the same bluetooth system used on the more popular A4, (2005-2008) so hopefully someone else has some input.
Initial thoughts
1. phone software - Maybe the phone needs a software update - this exact scenario happened on a blackberry I had a few years ago and updating the blackberry's system software fixed the issue. There is no 'firmware update' possible for the car for the record. The phone is running GingerBread 2.3.5
2. bluetooth/sleep/battery saver settings - as I've only had an Android for about 5 minutes, this is likely where I'm missing something. Is there a setting on the phone that puts bluetooth to sleep to save battery power? I've not downloaded any apps to interfere with power management yet etc. so I'm just on OEM settings.
Any thoughts would be appreciated!
This is more of a development forum than anything, so most of the folks are running custom ROM's here. But you'll still find knowledgeable folks when it comes to stock ROM.
I would try going to settings and at the bottom of the menu is a software update option. Some folks are getting 2.3.6 rolled out to them so it couldn't hurt to check and see if it's available for you right now.
Otherwise, you might try un-pairing the bluetooth connection, reboot and then try making a new pair?
Good luck.
To OP, sorry I don't have a solution for you. But I gotta tell ya, the bluetooth on this phone is pretty crappy, I'm hoping the ICS will fix a lot of Bluetooth bugs. I have an issue connecting with my Bluetooth Music Reciever (which is plugged into the AUX). I have a 2008 MB C300 and the Bluetooth wors about 95% of the time.
By the way Nice ride. RS4, same engine as the Audi R8.

thanks for nothing guys. this place sucks
just messing. Sorry, I didn't quite grasp that this was the premier developer forum vs. users shooting the **** about their phones. A buddy referred me over here when I told him about the problem.
Yeah, I've heard a few complaints about the bluetooth similar to yours Jamolah. Some guys complain that it only connects once in a while, so 95% of the time is pretty good! Mine connects right away every time which is nice...but the constant disconnect/connect/disconnect routine gets real old, and results in me turning bluetooth off. Unfortunately then you have to turn it on to use it etc.
Anyway, I'll keep trying for a solution to my seemingly unique problem and will see about an update to ICS when its available. Quite a different world, the android world (vs. blackberry or iPhone where everything's so closed and limited and simple).
Thanks for the input guys.
Hi,
if you keep your android running with the navigation app (preventing standby) do you still experience disconnects? If this helps you can try my app "BluetoothKeepalive" from the market, it automatically prevents android standby when being connected via bluetooth.
Regards
...Alex
I am pleased to report that the phone now works flawlessly with my Audi's bluetooth.
The solution? Ice Cream Sandwich / 4.0, the latest operating system available for my phone.
I upgraded the phone to ICS, and it immediately began co-operating with the bluetooth.

P6810 HK ICS Build & Bluetooth

I have the HK P6810. Since upgrading to the HK ICS build I noticed that my tablet no longer auto-connects to my previously paired Bluetooth speaker when I power it on. I now have to manually connect in under Bluetooth settings every time I want to use it. I didn't see any advanced settings related to this. It was great to finally get ICS, but I really miss this feature.
I also noticed some lag or interruption during music playback with Play Music (music stored locally, not streaming) at least once per use. It's just a random blip--nothing constant or unbearable, but my music never seemed to skip a beat with stock Gingerbread.
Anyone else notice these issues with Bluetooth on ICS? Am I perhaps missing something? I was hoping there was a workaround or maybe that other regional ICS builds don't have these issues and that I could flash one of them.

same as me, very annoying and I downgrade back to 3.2. I did a search on Internet because of the Bluetooth hardware incompatibility issue.
Thanks for the response. I thought of downgrading but it's really convenient having chrome browser and bookmark syncing--really the only feature in ICS I was dying to have.
I'd assume others have this issue also. Unless no one uses bluetooth speakers or headsets with their tab? Either that other regional builds don't have this problem.
Would very much appreciate more feedback in regard to ICS bluetooth experience from other users.

Well, I found there is update on 2012-09-25, as there is download of latest firmware after I open Kies and the version number is v12.09.25.
Let me try if they fixed those issue.
Thanks!
one week with my bluetooth earpiece and no problems so far.

Bluetooth Problems w/Marshmallow

Hi,
I use 3 bluetooth devices at home. With my previous build (rooted and tweaked Kit Kat) everything worked just fine.
I flash the new Marshmallow, root it and tweak it a bit (nothing major) like I did before but now my Bluetooth can only see one device out of my 3.
Doing a Google search I see some problems but nothing recent and no possible fixes.
Anyone else have this problem and get it fixed? Anyone have any thoughts?
It's lonely being the only one.
You're not the only one - since upgrading to STOCK Marshmallow and now 6.0.1, if my phone is more than 6 INCHES from my headset, any of 5 of them, the phone will connect / disconnect every 20 to 70 seconds. If the phone is in my left pocket with the headset in my right ear, I can't connect the headset AT ALL! I'm gettin' my HATE on for Marshmallow in a big way!

No "Media Audio" option when connected to my car by bluetooth

Hi All,
I'm having trouble with Bluetooth on my v10. I've looked through the forums but haven't seen any people with an issue quite like mine.
My car is a Hyundai and the radio was updated to the latest software about 6 months ago. The phone will pair fine and works perfectly for phone calls but I can't get it to play audio over bluetooth. In the bluetooth menu the "Media Option" check box is not visible at all. The particularly weird part is that while the audio still comes out of the phone the rest of the bluetooth features will work, I can change the song with the radio controls and the Artist/Title are displayed on the radio.
It works great with my soundbar, alarm clock, portable speaker, and my moms Dodge truck. That would lead me to believe it's the car however I never had any issues with my gs5 for a year and a half. I tried it with two different iphones and my roommates G4 and all of them worked perfectly.
My phone is an h900 on 5.1.1 rooted(had the same issue before root).
I'm at a loss here. Any ideas? Thanks.
I have a bug report w/ google on this. Please take a look and chime in to get them to fix this. https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=221322&thanks=221322&ts=1472583426
Im going to guess you have a 2011 to 2013 hyundai right? Probably with navi?
So google is blaming samsung of course so I have an email into them. Their chat was useless.
Your device is using Samsung's heavily customised version of Android which this website has no visibility of so cannot support. You need to speak to Samsung for user support and issues with their devices and their software. Thanks.
