[Q] Getting out of download without doing anything? - Samsung Infuse 4G

So the backstory is when trying to flash UCKJ4 I attempted to use heimdall. I got the phone into download mode but I couldn't get heimdall to see the phone. Google says a battery pull is the way to go. I did that but was left with a phone with multicolor dots sporadically spread across the screen. This was my first flash so after that initial sickness in my stomach I got ODIN to see the phone and went back to stock (thanks gtg). After some more hacking around I finally got heimdall to see the phone to flash rooted kernel and then back to stock.
So the question is....What is the best way to get out of download mode should something like this happen again?
I found plenty of threads of how to get into download mode but not much on escaping if you don't want to be there anymore.

Pulling the battery is an easy way. I've done it several times.

Does it reboot normally for you? I got the crazy sprite screen.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App

Yes it does. I've never had 1 instance where I got the screen you described.

Thanks.

That screen that your talking about, the multi-colored one, the only thing I can think of is flashing a leak without the bootloaders.
That's weird, but a battery pull while in download mode, but you haven't done anything, is completely fine.

[q] screen of death on froyo :(

So this morning I was checking out the new choices in my Froyo leak - rooted Captivate, I clicked on every one of them to see what it is and then I clicked on one that said something like user accounts, well ever since then my phone has been a black screen only displaying the top clock and a no signal bar. What should I do next? Unfortunately Im stuck at work with no programs. So Im wondering what would you do, which Odin should I use? Ill be checkin in cause at least I can do this and plan fixing my phone for later
Im guessing you tried pulling the battery?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
sure did tried the reboot screen.
and the other thing, now the phone wont go into sleep mode so my battery is slowly dying too
try to boot into recovery and clear out the cache...
I did that too and it clears and then i reboot then it goes right back to black screen
The same thing happened to me, but I wasn't digging around in the settings. Like previously mentioned, I booted into recovery, and cleared cache/factory wipe, and it booted back fresh. Luckily, I had a Titanium Backup from a few hours before it happened, so I didn't really lose anything.
I had something like this too. Can you get into Download mode and use Odin to return to stock rom? It took me several tries before Odin worked.
Well I still haven't heard anyone who has completely bricked there samsung captivate yet so I think you'll be alright. Just to be the 1 click Odin when you get home.
I'm pretty new myself at this But I think the only way were really screwed Is if we kill the bootloader.

i will try when i get home, im stuck at work unfortunately, at least i know im not the only one, i was also fooling with settings
thank you
Theres been a few people that have fully bricked their captivates... Including me.
If you got your captivate within the last couple weeks be careful using odin with a froyo kernel. Check the Q&A thread for a post titled "phone-pc something" (Using my phone otherwise I'd provide a link)

Odd Boot Loop

This is not my phone but my friend's phone. I'm Captivate owner so I'm familiar with the SGS line and I've never heard of a issue like this.
This is a stock phone. No root and no custom roms. Completely stock. We tried to see if we could put the phone into download most via the key combo but no luck. He is going to bring it over later today to try the JIG which is a common thing to do for soft bricks in the Captivate forum.
Anyone else seen a problem like this and have any suggestions? Let me know. Thanks!
**UPDATE**
Now it will Randomly boot up. We tried a master reset but then it goes back into a boot loop. Then sometimes it will randomly boot but is not running well.
Super easy to fix...have you got it out the loop yet

Akopcb r1 rom battery drain super fast!

I've been running this rom for a couple days and I've been noticing serious battery drain is there anything I can do to fix it? I tried posting on the actual post but it won't let me post on dev post yet...

Try using powermax from the play store or just reflash. btw im using the same rom and it can last all day
I was on uniporn and had this same problem, i guess they are almost the same rom right?. My phone got really hot and it took a lot more hours to charge. At the battery drain was HUGE, super fast.
I had to go back to gingerbread

Well I'm on ice dark night and I'm getting pretty good battery life this from runs smooth as butter minus the torch, Bluetooth , and HD video recording but that's pretty standard for these custom roms. Funny colors in clockwork means you need to flash your boot loaders to GB

Hows the dark knight rom working out for you. im planning on flashing it later tonight?
I really like it , ive only had it for one day I used the hemidall one click to stock here is what I do, below are how i perform using qkster's method...
The USB + Volume Down + Volume Up Method: Download mode (Noticeable by an Android robot digging with a shovel) is reached by taking everything out (Battery, SIM, MicroSD). plug in the USB cable to your computer and phone then putting in battery at the same time Holding the volume buttons both up and down, (Don't press the power button at all in this method).
How to INSTALL:
1. Put your phone into Download Mode.
2. If you have not used Heimdall, you will need to set up the driver for device recognition.
3. Once your device is connected, the DEVICE STATUS should show: CONNECTED. The long FLASH bar will also turn on for flashing.
4. Click on the FLASH button. (In my opinion: I recommend that you do this in a safe environment. Do not disturb your phone will flashing this firmware. Turn off Antivirus. Do not run any other programs, upload/download/youtube/burning DVD etc)
5. Once it has completed, your phone will reboot. You will hopefully see the ATT logo and reboot into STOCK UCLB3.
6. If it did not work, you will have to put it back into DOWNLOAD mode and reflash a second time, with the FLASH BOOTLOADER box checked. This is more likely if you never had proper Gingerbread bootloaders on your phone, if you are coming from FROYO or if you never had Odin a Gingerbread leak to get your bootloaders.
download this file for your one click to stock...and using above directions...
once that is done and you want to put CWM mod on for flashing a custom ROM, same directions to get in to download mod...
download this file to use the one click to put CWM mod on your phone
here is the link where i took all this...

Then I flash the dark night ICS rom like the op says and it run nice and smooth no lagg so far or any fc really other than when I put S voice onto my phone.. and like I said that Bluetooth, torch, HD video record is choppy, and no hdmi but I really like I just hope they get the flash light sorted out soon I use it all the time!!!

please help. Phone boot looped

I am on the samsung infuse. SGH-I997 from at&t running gb 2.3.6 my phone is rooted. I don't have it overclocked or underclocked or anything like that. i just went into setting menu and did factory data rest and checked the erase sd card option as welll. My phone will come up to the boot animation i have set and then screen will go dark. I press the screen on button and the boot animation is still on, Like it's just starting again. Then twice now it has started up and let me unlock sim card then goes to the setup wizard which i connect to my wifi after accepting googles terms or whatever. once i put in password I can't see an option for next or back or cancel. I see quit in the top right corner and when I press that to get out of the setup wizard the screen is just plain black. I can see the notification bar and that's it. I can't pull it down. I can't even turn the screen off. Please help me. Should I attempt to go back to stock/rooted gb 2.3.6 via odin??? Please help me out quickly if you can I need this phone for work purposes and have not the means to get another one.
Yes, use odin or heimdall, which ever you are most comfortable with.
Thank you. Worked like a charm. Odin is a lot easier to use I might add

[Q] Help!

I was trying to put a kernel onto my Samsung Galaxy S 4g via Odin, and it got stuck on zImage for an hour, so I pulled the battery out. Now my phone is stuck on a screen with a phone with a dotted line connecting to a caution sign followed by a computer. I've looked at multiple forums on different websites on how to enter download mode through this screen, and nothing is working! If somebody can please help me you would be a life saver right now. Is there a way to fix this?
That is download mode. Its an alternate download mode that appears after a failed flash.

Thanks for explaining, but is there a way that you know that I can bypass this?
Heimdall one click and then flash your favorite ROM and kernel via CWM.
P.S You need download mode for both Odin and Heimdall.
sent from me
Or just reflash whatever you wanted to flash in the first place. I get this after every major flash and it just means that the kernel is having a major change. No big deal, just give it another flash and it should work the second time around... don't One-click unless you actually want stock.
Hi Theraze
One click actually cleans gremlins and is a good thing to do in between flashing ROM over ROM over ROM every now and then. The good thing about eollie''s version is that it's one flash that brings you to a position you can flash GB/ICS/JB right on top (CWM5) and it takes less than 5 minutes.

You can't bypass it you have to fix it. Reconnect with Odin and try the flash again. Sometimes it's that simple.
