please help. Phone boot looped - Samsung Infuse 4G

I am on the samsung infuse. SGH-I997 from at&t running gb 2.3.6 my phone is rooted. I don't have it overclocked or underclocked or anything like that. i just went into setting menu and did factory data rest and checked the erase sd card option as welll. My phone will come up to the boot animation i have set and then screen will go dark. I press the screen on button and the boot animation is still on, Like it's just starting again. Then twice now it has started up and let me unlock sim card then goes to the setup wizard which i connect to my wifi after accepting googles terms or whatever. once i put in password I can't see an option for next or back or cancel. I see quit in the top right corner and when I press that to get out of the setup wizard the screen is just plain black. I can see the notification bar and that's it. I can't pull it down. I can't even turn the screen off. Please help me. Should I attempt to go back to stock/rooted gb 2.3.6 via odin??? Please help me out quickly if you can I need this phone for work purposes and have not the means to get another one.

Yes, use odin or heimdall, which ever you are most comfortable with.

Thank you. Worked like a charm. Odin is a lot easier to use I might add

[Q] Getting out of download without doing anything?

So the backstory is when trying to flash UCKJ4 I attempted to use heimdall. I got the phone into download mode but I couldn't get heimdall to see the phone. Google says a battery pull is the way to go. I did that but was left with a phone with multicolor dots sporadically spread across the screen. This was my first flash so after that initial sickness in my stomach I got ODIN to see the phone and went back to stock (thanks gtg). After some more hacking around I finally got heimdall to see the phone to flash rooted kernel and then back to stock.
So the question is....What is the best way to get out of download mode should something like this happen again?
I found plenty of threads of how to get into download mode but not much on escaping if you don't want to be there anymore.
Pulling the battery is an easy way. I've done it several times.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Does it reboot normally for you? I got the crazy sprite screen.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Yes it does. I've never had 1 instance where I got the screen you described.

Thanks.

That screen that your talking about, the multi-colored one, the only thing I can think of is flashing a leak without the bootloaders.
That's weird, but a battery pull while in download mode, but you haven't done anything, is completely fine.

[Q] Question to [airfluip1]

I Downloaded and installed your rom from HERE using rom manager, And I'm not sure what I did wrong but when I turn on my phone it goes to Phone Logo screen (first screen) then all black with a corrupted blue lines at the bottom about half an inch long. Then, a couple seconds later it goes to a full corrupted screen. then it just does everything repeatedly.
Sorry I can't take screen shots since my phone doesn't work. But any idea of what I might of done wrong?
My phone is already rooted and CwM was already installed. Not sure if the installation process was messed up or not. And I can't get my phone into the CwM recovery to fix this problem.

There are a bunch of threads and a sticky! (2nd topic in the Dev Forum) that state Rom Manager does not work with this phone. That is what you did wrong.
you should have flashed the rom in CWM, but since the damage is done, you will have to get the phone in download mode and use ODIN to flash a new rom and start over again.
Hopefully, you can still get in DL mode by holding both volume buttons at the same time and inserting the USB cable.
use FB's starter pack post for the files you need for ODIN, and don't use Rom Manager anymore!

Or you can use the easier more stable alternative: Heimdall one click

That's another download mode screen. The previous screen you described sounds like you didn't have the right boot loaders in place. Check out The KJ6 Heimdall One-Click Collection. Select any of the three of those you want to use, and follow Bhundven's instructions (really easy). All you need to have installed previously is Java.
Let us know how it goes.

This is another form of download mode. Heimdall should recognize the device and flash it.

The only reason I used Rom manager is cause I was told it was one way to install the roms

Wifi,Odin, kirles problems

I bought the phone from someone already rooted and ran into some problems.....
I installed the correct drivers for this phone off one of the xda forums for flashing. I also noticed when setting it up the wifi will not obtain the IP Address. It is running firmware 2.2.1
Odin will recognize the phone and start to flash but then get held up at the "setup connection" tried multiple roms
Kies when It is downloading binary files it gets an error
I fallowed all instructions to the letter, I have never ran into this problem in all the phones I have flashed , any ideas would be greatly appreciated

As far as the wireless goes, are you absolutely sure you put in the correct network key? Is there a network key? Are you home and can mess with router settings?

The one time I had that problem I just reset my wifi router. If you're using encryption (I hope you are), make sure the settings on the phone match the settings on the wifi router (WPA, WPA2, TKIP/AES, etc.) & that you're using the right pass code.

If you're wanting to get it updated to Gingerbread, I'd suggest following FBis251's Gingerbread Starter Pack or using one of Bhundven's One-clicks. The latter option only requires that you have Java installed.

That's odd. That would prevent ODIN from working for sure. If it's rooted, download and install a terminal emulator from the market. Then open the terminal and issue these commands:
su
reboot download
That should get you into download mode unless something's really hosed.

That would be due to it not going into download mode. Try what I said above and see if it works

Cool, let me know how it goes. I'm thinking that if we can get you into download mode that getting you updated to GB might help a lot.
If you're not looking to go that route and want to stay Froyo, you might want to look at GPS Aids in the market. It has a "hard reset" feature that might be of help.

Is it plugged into the same USB port as before? ODIN & Win7 are funny about that some times. If that doesn't help you might have to power it off & back on to get ODIN to see it:
Power off the phone
Unplug the USB cable
Remove the battery
Plug the USB cable into the computer and the phone
Hold down the volume up and volume down keys
While holding those down, re-insert the battery
See if that gets you back into download mode and/or recognized by ODIN. Also make sure you're using ODIN 1.85.
I tried this and couldn't figure out why it won't work

The boot loaders are different. Cwm can not flash boot loaders. You can flash back to a froyo ROM but your recovery might be a jacked up rainbow screen.

It's there, give me a few minutes and I'll post a guide on how to do it. Mine did the same thing and I tried everything then I re-named the drive letter and have had no problems.
I'll give it a shot

First go to Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall Programs and uninstall all the drivers having to do with your phone. Then plug the phone in and let it do it's thing even if it doesn't change anything just do it anyway. keep your phone plugged in and storage on.
Then...
1. Start/Computer right click and select Manage, the Computer Management screen will pop up.
2. In the left column go to Storage/disk management and look at the center screen ( which will be divided into two sections- top and bottom )
3. Look for the drive letter that you phone used ( it will be there ).
4. Right click on the letter and select change drive letter and paths...
5. Click on change ( middle option ). It should be set on " Assign the following drive letter ".
6. Change the drive letter and click OK. Click " Yes " on the pop-up and that is it.
After you see the letter change close everything out and then turn off USB from your phone then turn it back on and it should work. Let me know if you have any problems, I'll be here for a little while.
I'll try that now I'll let you know what's up in 20

[Q] Tried rooting my phone first time, soft bricked it.

I got it rooted, installed a few apps and everything seemed to be working fine, i shut it off for the night and woke up yesterday morning and it gave me this screen.
(I cant post a link, but if you google Firmware Upgrade Encountered, it pulls up quite a few pictures of this same situation.
I can't get into download or recovery mode. The samsung logo will appear for a split second before this screen appears. Kies does not reconize the phone. All i want to do is get my phone to turn on and go back to stock settings.
Can anybody please help me?
Use odin to flash the stock rom. Did you pull the battery?

Im not sure where to get the stock rom.. and when i get it should i put it next to PDA and tick the same boxes i used to root it? Also, do i need to use a pit file?
EDIT: Also yeah, i did pull the battery out. Thats the only way to turn the phone off now, as it is completely unresponsive.
Go to Sammobile.com. you'll down load a zip file. Use 7-zip to extract the .tar.md5 file out of it. Use that in PDA. Only have auto-reboot and f.reset checked.

Sorry to be such a noob.. but I looked around on that site and can't seem to find a .zip file to download.. the only files i can find are for phones that aren't mine.
You'll have to register, it's free. There is a firmware section on the site. It'll walk you through the type of phone, etc. And then give you s couple of files available for Doreen load. The newest one is ics
