The boot loaders are different. Cwm can not flash boot loaders. You can flash back to a froyo ROM but your recovery might be a jacked up rainbow screen.
That blows cause i still can't get a computer to see this phone lol was thinking if i could get those froyo bootloaders that it may see it then lol

Too my knowledge the computer only saw the phone on froyo. After i upgraded it through flashing with odin i flashed ravers old octane. I was going to do ravers gb stock odin but that's when i realized the computer wouldn't recognize it. If that makes since to you

You are going to have to rename your drive letter that was used for your phone i.e. ( F: ) or what ever it was. Do you remember what letter your phone was? If you know how then try it and see, if not what OS are you running and I'll type the guide real quick for you.

It's there, give me a few minutes and I'll post a guide on how to do it. Mine did the same thing and I tried everything then I re-named the drive letter and have had no problems.
I'll give it a shot
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
First go to Control Panel/Programs/Uninstall Programs and uninstall all the drivers having to do with your phone. Then plug the phone in and let it do it's thing even if it doesn't change anything just do it anyway. keep your phone plugged in and storage on.
Then...
1. Start/Computer right click and select Manage, the Computer Management screen will pop up.
2. In the left column go to Storage/disk management and look at the center screen ( which will be divided into two sections- top and bottom )
3. Look for the drive letter that you phone used ( it will be there ).
4. Right click on the letter and select change drive letter and paths...
5. Click on change ( middle option ). It should be set on " Assign the following drive letter ".
6. Change the drive letter and click OK. Click " Yes " on the pop-up and that is it.
After you see the letter change close everything out and then turn off USB from your phone then turn it back on and it should work. Let me know if you have any problems, I'll be here for a little while.
I'll try that now I'll let you know what's up in 20

Ok so I'm not sure what happened here, but my laptop wont recognize my phone. I have windows 7 and the phone is currently running octane. I originally had used odin to set the phone up with the proper boot loaders a while back then used cwm to flash ravers octane. I wanted to go back to stock using the official kj6 that raver posted through odin. When ever i hook the phone in to the laptop it says usb device not recognized. Any ideas or ways to fix this? I tried uninstalling and installing the sgs4g drivers again with no luck.
shut off..when u go into dl mode Odin should get it..don't worry about it while it's on...I did that for an hour last week...with octane

If it recognized it before, make sure you're plugging it back into the same USB port you previously used. Also make sure the drivers are installed. If they're acting buggy, uninstall them and reinstall them. Downloading and installing Kies Mini (link provided by FB) would insure you get the right drivers installed.
Every time you flash a new Rom, it will probably do that. It depends on your computer. Once you uninstall the drivers, try to run ccleaner from piriform to clean out the registry. Reboot the computer. Then reinstall the drivers using the files from the Bible.

Yeah I tried UN and reinstalling the drivers I had gotten them from the Bible. I will try ccleaner and see what happens. Also I tried all USB Ports. Thanx for all your ideas I will post if ccleaner works or not

Plug your phone into your computer. Then go into your control panel and under Admin tools open computer managment. click on the device manager extension and find the device/s with the yellow exclamation point. right click and select uninstall. then unplug your phone and install the drivers from the SGS4G Bible and then plug your phone back in and it should work.

Short of a factory data reset (which you'll want to do before sending it in for repair, anyway), I don't know. It's weird that it worked until you flashed a ROM.

I Downloaded and installed your rom from HERE using rom manager, And I'm not sure what I did wrong but when I turn on my phone it goes to Phone Logo screen (first screen) then all black with a corrupted blue lines at the bottom about half an inch long. Then, a couple seconds later it goes to a full corrupted screen. then it just does everything repeatedly.
Sorry I can't take screen shots since my phone doesn't work. But any idea of what I might of done wrong?
My phone is already rooted and CwM was already installed. Not sure if the installation process was messed up or not. And I can't get my phone into the CwM recovery to fix this problem.

There are a bunch of threads and a sticky! (2nd topic in the Dev Forum) that state Rom Manager does not work with this phone. That is what you did wrong.
you should have flashed the rom in CWM, but since the damage is done, you will have to get the phone in download mode and use ODIN to flash a new rom and start over again.
Hopefully, you can still get in DL mode by holding both volume buttons at the same time and inserting the USB cable.
use FB's starter pack post for the files you need for ODIN, and don't use Rom Manager anymore!

That's another download mode screen. The previous screen you described sounds like you didn't have the right boot loaders in place. Check out The KJ6 Heimdall One-Click Collection. Select any of the three of those you want to use, and follow Bhundven's instructions (really easy). All you need to have installed previously is Java.
Let us know how it goes.

The only reason I used Rom manager is cause I was told it was one way to install the roms
I bought the phone from someone already rooted and ran into some problems.....
I installed the correct drivers for this phone off one of the xda forums for flashing. I also noticed when setting it up the wifi will not obtain the IP Address. It is running firmware 2.2.1
Odin will recognize the phone and start to flash but then get held up at the "setup connection" tried multiple roms
Kies when It is downloading binary files it gets an error
I fallowed all instructions to the letter, I have never ran into this problem in all the phones I have flashed , any ideas would be greatly appreciated

The one time I had that problem I just reset my wifi router. If you're using encryption (I hope you are), make sure the settings on the phone match the settings on the wifi router (WPA, WPA2, TKIP/AES, etc.) & that you're using the right pass code.

That's odd. That would prevent ODIN from working for sure. If it's rooted, download and install a terminal emulator from the market. Then open the terminal and issue these commands:

That should get you into download mode unless something's really hosed.

Cool, let me know how it goes. I'm thinking that if we can get you into download mode that getting you updated to GB might help a lot.
If you're not looking to go that route and want to stay Froyo, you might want to look at GPS Aids in the market. It has a "hard reset" feature that might be of help.

Is it plugged into the same USB port as before? ODIN & Win7 are funny about that some times. If that doesn't help you might have to power it off & back on to get ODIN to see it:
Power off the phone
Unplug the USB cable
Remove the battery
Plug the USB cable into the computer and the phone
Hold down the volume up and volume down keys
While holding those down, re-insert the battery
See if that gets you back into download mode and/or recognized by ODIN. Also make sure you're using ODIN 1.85.
