Everybody complains that my voice will sound muffled or cut in and out. I know my microphone is fine because sound recording apps work fine.
Anyone else have this issue?
I think the issue is with the noise canceling mic. Any way to disable it?
I assume you have Razr HD?
Do you have your phone in some sort of a case? It could be the problem if you use Otterbox or some similar cases becuse it shields microphone
so it can make you sound funny to others.
Also are you using 3G/4G? How good is your reception?
Try to clean the microphone cavity with compressed air or a toothpick. I had some problems with my previous Razr HD microphone because it was dirty because of CNC mashine vapors and metal dust...
Give more info so we can solve it...
Cheers

I've heard about both of these issues with this case. It is very well documented here on the interweb.

First issue is resolvable by placing a little bit of baby powder on a microfiber cloth and cleaning both the underside of the screen protector and your phone screen. This is caused by moisture (even if you think its dry its not, moisture (H2O vapor) exists everywhere. period.) so the baby powder helps to absorb the excess moisture.
Second issue - I have the case myself, never saw a plastic tab on the earpiece, that piece that i think you took off is supposed to be there. What i can say though is make sure the top of the case is completely snapped in, the plastic on the case should be tight against the earpiece. This is one thing i didn't care too much for on the LifeProof. My Seidio Obex on my S4 solved this by having an actual plastic piece at the top. But this case for the S5 has not been an issue in that respect. The only issue i had was people said i sounded muffled. this was because the plastic membrane at the microphone had become loose and wasn't tight against the phone. I have since gotten a replacement from them. I think i called them or live chatted though, the email method is slower. But so far this new case has been perfect.
Thanks I will call them if they don't email me back at the end of the week...I have not had a issue with anyone saying I sounded bad just that I can not hear threw the earpiece...speaker on the back sound's fine great case other then that
i know someone that has the case for they s5 and when they make calls the person on the receiving end can hear there echo. not sure if its been discussed before. Removed the case and issue was fixed.

I have the exact same problem. People seem to hear me not bad but not great, but I can hardly hear them at all. i have to turn the speaker on to be able to hear them. The speaker works fine. I also peeled off that plastic tab. Very frustrating.
Galaxy s5 lifeproof case earpiece isssues
Yea im having the exact same problems cant hear at all and also the blurriness of the screen. Im to point where im about to take a razor blade and cut a hole where the earpiece is lol. I had a couple different lifeproof cases a couple years ago and i never had problems with hearing but now it sucks if im not in a quiet area there's no point in even trying to make a call
Lifeproof issues
To all of you having problems with the lifeproof case causing the earpiece volume to be very low and are wondering about that little black tab on the inside of the screen cover i finally got answers for that. Ive read on here theres a lot of people that did the same as i did and peeled off that black tab well ive done some research and bought another lifeproof case and after leaving the black tab on this time i could actually hear! And also i found a install video on the lifeproof website and if you zoom in on the video you can clearly see that they show the case being installed with the black tab in place. I hope this helps some of you.
So I've had the phone since the first month it was out. Everything's been great except lately my screen sensitivity and accuracy is absolute garbage and my speakerphone mic's pick up almost no audio. I have a glass screen protector on it but I've had that since day 2 and it's been perfect.
After flashing every kernal and rom I could find with no success, my very non-technical girlfriend said it might be my case. I almost disregarded it as impossible but low and behold the last two ultra thin bumper cases have been destroying my speakerphone and video recording audio and my latest case absolutely kills my touchscreen too! Sometimes I'll just let the phone sit there on the table and the screen will start opening apps and clicking/scrolling around completely on it's own!
Here are the 'clothing' items I've used for my phone:
- Glass screen cover which has worked perfect in the long past, been on the whole time, even now - http://goo.gl/0Upo60
- This case seems to work fine - http://goo.gl/gjdS4c
- This aluminum bumper works fine albeit sharp edges - http://goo.gl/Tpsuo1
Here are the ones I've been using the past 2.5 months that have made my OnePlus experience go downhill really fast:
- This case ruins speakerphone mic's but I didn't notice any touch issues - http://goo.gl/oBlxCb
- This case destroys speakerphone mic's and touch screen goes completely a fritz! - http://goo.gl/ThtLZP
I Just discovered this and there doesn't seem to be any information on it. Removing the case seems to have solved all problems but I can't even fathom how a semi-rubber or hard plastic case can cause such problems. Am I missing something? Has anyone else experienced this?
My phone's earphone speaker is absolutely terrible. Low volume and extremely distorted. I don't believe I'll be able to do a warranty claim on it due to the fact that there are a few small scuffs on the corners on the back of the phone from two small drops. The issue was present before the drops occurred, but I'm assuming it won't matter. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to replace the speaker or if I may still be able to send it back.
Thanks for your time!
Hi everybody,
I got an issue with my mic. Since I changed the battery and the usb/mic I got noise while talking to others.
When I record audio or video there is no noise. The sound is crystal clear! The only visible difference to the original condition is the missing copper tape on the battery. I thought the tape was a heatsink and not a shield.
Do you think this might be the problem? I am very confused because of the noise just showing up during a call.
Thanks for reading and even more for commenting :good:
