[Q] Windows Mango on MyTouch 4g - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I am new here. I have followed along on a few threads over the last few months ever since I flashed my MyTouch 4g with Cyanogen.
So here's my question. Is anybody working on porting Windows Phone 7.5 to android devices?
I have a MyTouch 4g and have been wanting to move to Windows Phone 7.5, the only problem is, I want 4g, and the Titan and Radar have been playing coy with me and cannot give definitive release dates. I'm done waiting, if there is anyway to install Windows Phone 7.5 on the MyTouch, it would be awesome. I would even be willing to pay for a Rom that is capable of being flashed to the phone. I know it is difficult and far beyond my scope of knowledge to write drivers and all the little necessary bits to make a Rom work on each device but if anyone is working on it, that'd be great.
Am I insane to hope for such a port, or is anybody out there working on that?

AT&T Quickfire run Android?

Hi all,
I understand this may be silly to even wonder.. but my wife has the AT&T Quickfire (ugh) and I recently got a Mytouch 3G and put the latest CyanogenMod on it. It's great!
I was curious if anyone knows a way to put Android on the Quickfire, or if it's even plausible. I know it's not a smart phone, but anything would be better than the junky OS that comes pre-installed.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks!

[Q] Thinking of buying an htc hd2 and port to android, please help

Hey folks, im thinking of buying an hd2 and i have a few questions. I have searched quite a bit about porting to android, but i have a few questions unanswered.
First off, can i unlock the hd2, port it, and then use it on att's network?
About the voice issues, are they fixed? i read up on it and i couldnt get a sure answer, all i read was it was a problem with the radio or something.

You can use an unlocked HD2 on AT&T, but you won't have 3g. AT&T uses a different frequency for their 3g.
Most of the android builds I've tried work great. You will have to flash HardSPL onto your phone and flash on a new Android-friendly Windows Mobile ROM. Check out the ROM Development under the HD2 forum. There are several tutorials on how to do all this.
Currently there is no permanent ported android build yet as in nand.
The android its either running in your SD card or RAM.
With HTC HD2 you have dual boot to Winmo & Android.
Depending on Winmo ROM & Radio & Android build will get stability.
So you can try diff ROMs & build to test out.
Thank you for such a quick reply, so just to be clear the voice issue ive heard of is fixed? and i can unlock the phone and use it with att and put android on it as well? i dont use data much so 3g wont be missed much.
voice issue depends on the version of radio rom of ur HD2.
roughly told it is fixed (be frank, so far I haven't encountered this problem from my day 1 lol)
Honestly, why would you buy an HD2 if you want to run Android. As wonderful as the development here is, it will most likely never be as stable or bug free as a device which runs Android natively.
I'd much sooner buy an HTC EVO or Desire HD. In fact I'm tempted to try and sell my HD2 to get one.
I'm by no means trying to put down the work of the Devs, they do a fantastic job and are very close to what I would call a stable build for daily use. But seriously, you will find Android on the HD2 frustrating at the best of times when compared to a device which is designed to run it.
P.S - This should not be in the development forum.
hd2 running andriod
hi im new to the forum thing but i know a bit about phones the hd2 running android is a very good option for you there are a few issues still effecting hd2s at the moment one is mms cannot recieve or send mms (pic msgs)and the other issue is the bluetooth its not a major issue as you can get a blutooth app from the store i run a build that uses the ram of my phone to speed up the build and i havent had any problems with it as of yet and its a lot quicker if your new to flashing i would just put the build on a 8gb sd card (you need to set it up first )but its a lot quicker than the normal builds that run from the sd card
if you have any problems let me know and ill get a reply asap

I want an hd2 because its sort of a cheaper alternative for me to use than to buy a samsung captivate or vibrate, and its one of the few GSM phones with its kind of specs at its price. Also ill be switching carriers in 6 months so i just want to use it until then.
And everyone else, thanks for the info, you've been a great help and if i need help ill ask again, and i wont try to clutter the forums, i didint realize there was a Q&A forum, my bad lol

If you use AT&T get a AT&T phone. . . Not because of any real reason except native carrier devices really do work better.
I had a unlocked iPhone forever and no 3g sucks. Even if you don't use it much, it's a waste not to have it.

[Q] Interop-Unlock or Custom Rom for CDMA HTC Arrive

Has anyone made any progress on Interop-Unlock or a Custom Rom for CDMA HTCs, more specifically the HTC Arrive?
I've been searching
I've been searching for a long time now. I love my Arrive. I don't think anyone is trying to work on this. I've been searching for custom roms , interop unlock , advanced configuration. But nothing. I've found nothing. Almost every other device. Has this. Or has a way to get these. But I think the arrive is dead in the water.
The Verizon HTC Trophy is in the same boat. Blame the lack of CDMA interest and the fact that the only way to interop unlock an HTC device so far on mango, is to use the HTC Configuration app which is only relevant to GSM devices. That is why the Arrive and Trophy devices haven't been broken yet. There is a team working on a unlocked bootloader for the Arrive and possibly with it the trophy so once that is released, we can get custom roms and finally have full access to our phones.
It is funny to me, how back in the WM6.x days, the CDMA Sprint Touch Pro(2) was the king of hack devices for custom roms and whatnot, and sadly I think many of those people went to Android or other carriers. It is sad since the Arrive does carry some of the TP2's legacy, but I still think both carriers should start wanting more CDMA windows phones. A CDMA HD2 never came, how about a CDMA Titan? Tempting as heck but I am not jumping ship from sprint for a phone. :/
you said it.
I agree with everything you said. I can't wait for custom roms for the Arrive. I miss my touch pro 2 it was so fun I still have it but now wp7 is in the spot light and I just want to hack the shi.... Out of it. But I'm stuck waiting for someone to unlock it. If I had the knowledge I would do it. And I know here in xda there has to be someone with that knowledge. That's why I'm waiting . Most of you senior members have that knowledge. And I know you guys will crack it. Thanks guys.
Well , CDMA Trophy (Verizon) is just fine , because it is a global device and has a bypass . It does make me worry about future devices that may not be global though .
I recently found out someone i know has the Arrive . Whenever i get a chance im going to tinker a bit with it to see if i can find any weird bugs to take advantage of like the Verizon bypass . I wouldnt EXPECT anything . It all lies in getting connection setup to run . Who knows .. maybe something can trick it ..everyone said Verizon would not work as well , and that turned out to be a simple solution .
All of us lowly Arrive users would love to have a solution to this. Especially since Sprint does not appear to want any more windows phones. At least till the fall that is.
I would be happy to help. I have a student dev-unlocked arrive running 8107.
Yeah all this because Microsoft got greedy and copied the iPhone. And they wonder why their sales suck. LOL, Microsoft just needs to admit they screwed up and give us back what Windows Moible use to be about, screw the iPhone.

New sticky for noobs?

I Moved from a Treo 650 to a Sprint Mogul then switched out for an Android G1 that i upgraded to an iPhone 3GS and then an Atrix 4G and now I have probably my favourite phone to date (excepting the SE T616- legendary!) an HTC Titan.
I am familiar with custom ROMs, unlocking bootloaders and jailbreaking.
Outside of steps to developer unlock legit (woohoo for my edu address!) I have seen very little information on how to get this baby purring.
I am volunteering to write a how-to on the parts I accomplished but I still don't know how to do things like install custom ROMs and get interop-unlock working.
Anyone care to assist?
Sent from my PI39100 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
On second-gen HTC phones, like the Titan, neither custom ROMs nor interop-unlock are currently available. HTC appears to be putting some effort into keeping it that way, too... we're working on it, but nobody has had a breakthrough yet. These things take time, and there aren't that many people really trying to break open the devices. Of those who are, for some of us it's just one of many projects.

[Q] MIUI v4 System.img for use with the SDK?

Hello XDA!
I wondered if anyone could provide me with a System.img of any MIUI v4 ROM so I could use it in a AVD? All MIUI downloads I found high and low on XDA and elsewhere are in .zip format and I currently lack a Android handset to create one myself easily :/ Or is there maybe a way to convert a zipped ROM to a system.img with the help of a PC? I have access to Linux aswell if that should matter.
Thanks in advance for any help!
And let me add a bit of back-story as to why I want to even do this for anyone interested:
I have been interested in Android ever since it was released and had a G1 and HTC Desire in the past however since I'm very fickle about GUIs and visual design and in that department Android wasn't my cup of tea sadly so I sold the phones again. Though I have been following the developments of MIUI very closely and I'm genuinely impressed by the massive advancements they continuously make. And with my phone contract up for renewal in April and the iPhone 5 looking worse and worse to me with each passing day I read things about it I am looking to take the plunge to one of the Samsung devices for real once I renew.
Though this time I don't want to buy a device first and regret it later so I thought of sitting down and familiarize myself with MIUI v4 beforehand in a AVD which I already have setup and running fine, I just need MIUI running there so hopefully someone can help me out!^^
