New (Possible) Galaxy Nexus Specifications Leak - General Topics

There's been yet another Galaxy Nexus specifications leak. I've written them all out on my blog to make it easier to read. But, the original leak comes from a guy on Google+. He's fairly active in the Android community (I'm told) so maybe he's trustworthy.
I think he guessed on a few things like: camera megapixels, processor clock, hardware/software acceleration. That's just my interpretation.
I lined up all of the specs he reported next to the ones from the ever-reputable Android Police.
My original piece: http://briefmobile.com/galaxy-nexus-might-be-even-cooler-than-you-think is quoted below.
Black = Jacob Epstein, Grey = Android Police
TI OMAP4 dual-core processor at 1.5 GHz
Texas Instruments OMAP 4460 processor
NFC
1 GB RAM
32 GB internal storage
No SD card slot
Possibly 1900 mAh battery
8-megapixel camera (maybe same as SGS2)
5-megapixel camera with 1080p 30 FPS recording
Bright LED notification light
LED notification light
Dual LED flash
4.6-inch screen
Large (possibly 4.65-inch)
Very light weight
Keyboard looks like a combination of Gingerbread and Honeycomb
720p screen (more vivid than iPhone retina display)
Touch sensitive bezel
Brings up on-screen buttons when touched
Google Chrome — “I’ll bet a lot of money it’s chrome”
Tabbed browsing
Faster pinch-to-zoom
Better animations and transitions
New LTE modem. 25/10 in speed test.
4G LTE
Extremely snappy UI
High quality plastic that feels “futuristic”
Very thin
Ultra battery efficient with Ice Cream Sandwich
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
Individual notifications can be dismissed
No sliding door for USB port
Many app compatibility issues with Ice Cream Sandwich
Only takes “a few lines of code” to make an app compatible
Name “Galaxy Nexus” might not be final– might still be “Nexus Prime”
New “revolutionary” Google applications

Sounds good, but I'm tired of these speculations - I want official specs

Don't we all! I think these are reputable, though. I believe the Android Police specs, and these are mostly in line.
I think he guessed on the camera megapixels (thinking "oh it must be the same as SGS2") and on the processor clock speed. He thought that they were for sure, but I think they'll turn out to be wrong.
Justin Case says it's 1.2 GHz for sure. And, camera is most likely 5-megapixels as And Police said.

as long as it haves ICS ,two core cpu and the HD screen i don't care the rest...

that would be nice to have.since i have Evo 3D not it would be a worthy upgrade
I would like a 2mm thick phone with a 5.7" screen, there is no speaker or earphone to be seen as it is located inside the phone. There are no buttons whatsoever on the phone...the screen is turned on by creating a circle on the screen or a user defined input, the power button exists on the top right of the screen, this is activated by holding finger/thumb there for 3 seconds as constant heat activates the power menu and switches phone on
The phone is ultra flexible and finished with a clear film of kevlar particles bound together created by fusion, the phone has 8 cores operating at 3.7GHz each, which are cooled by 3 mini fans each that are made of ultra light and strong material encased in ultra heat conductive super mini sinks that pull away heat at incredible proportions, the phone has 2 nano batteries that last upto 3 days at full use. The GPU is a super quick 6GB memory based device.
The screen has 3200 by 4800 pixels, with full 3D and HD, incorporating nano sized LEDS. It supports a 21Mega pixel camera. The internal memory has a slot that can be upgrades to 2 tera bytes. The phone has HDMI, charging point, ear jack, super mini tubular USB all in one port.
However...with all that, the phone lacks one thing and that is there is no bluetooth support.
A bit realistically: Nokia N9 with Android
Unrealistically:
Hexacore 2 GHz Exynox CPU
3 GB of RAM
A 4.3 inch SuperAMOLED+ with a QFHD resolution (3840 x 2160)
"Nexus" phone
10000 mAh battery
Galaxy SII thickness (maybe a bit thicker)
The thing that I would like to see most in a phone is a battery which can be recharged while using the phone. Not solar panels (sun is not always present), but a device that transforms finger pressure/heat into electical energy...

No Offence but do you guys actually understand what the phrase "Complete flight of fantasy" means??
"completely unrealistic" mean just that, the phones most of you guys are suggesting already almost exist !!!!!!
You guys need to dream a little more with the CRAZY brakes OFF!!!!!
Hold onto your expectations!!!!!!!
My FANTASY PHONE is a sub-dermal cranial mounted (It fits inside the skull in the bone, no one will lose this mofo ) device using quantum entanglement to transmit and receive data, the back bone of the system is a quantum processor arrayed neural net system. Using weird characteristic of quantum interaction to essentially form a network of CPUs each in an alternative universe all acting as one multicore CPU, theoretically delivering unlimited processing power on demand.
RAM and Storage ........ pick a 3 figure number and add terabyte to the end.
Ocular display via glasses or a dedicated 'data contact lens'.
Mandible mounted mic, full voice control input and output.
Cranial mounted bone conducting headphones (Cyber-homeboi still needz ta rock da bass innit )
Oh yeah and since we are talking bat**** fantasy with the crazy brakes TFO I would probably, have a fully sense VR system built into it, why game when you have free time when you could just explore an entire other universe.

ICS for the Captivate Glide? Ouch.

Along with the ICS for the HTC Vivid, AT&T announced ICS for several other phones... *including* the Captivate Glide. I never thought I'd see AT&T and Samsung outdo T-Mobile and HTC in terms of an update.
Sent from my pyroiced doubleshot using xda premium
well, the glide is a dual core device and it's actually newer than the doubleshot... it makes perfect sense.
it's just the mt4gs not being updated that's shameful and disgusting
True, the Device has a 1Ghz Duel Core, and 512Mb of Ram. Its just a Thin Duel core Epic 4G.
Virtuous Primo v1.12.00 Alpha 1 for myTouch 4G Slide
Well 2 things:
1. T-mobile hasnt officially announced their upgrade list yet.
2. Samsuck had all the time in the world with ICS before any other OEM. There were pictures leaks of TouchWiz builds before the AOSP was released on google's site.
Sent from my myTouch_4G_Slide using xda premium
I own numerous devices.... a lot... as an addict...
While the Glide may not be the sexiest Droid on the market, it is hands down the best HW KB slider period. While it is constructed typically like a Samsung, lots of plastic, the features of the device are pretty impressive. With a dual core Tegra 2, it opperates smoothly & in direct contradiction with Samsung's plastic toy-like build style, the keyboard itself is solidly built & operates nicely with it's quality assisted hinges. The Tegra 2 is a solid chip & rendering is pretty darn good. It's 1Ghz dual core is as almost (if not more in some cases) as responsive as many of the 1.2 & 1.5Ghz devices.
I am an HTC guy, but I always have a HW KVB device as well. While the Glide is great for those that have to pound out emails & make some document changes, it also packs some really great features for your down time too. With the 8MP camera & 720P video support, Native support for HD-DIVX, XVID and most all AVI formats & the ability to play heavily encpded AAC, FLAC as well as AC3 media files, it also the only slider I know of that can utilize its BCM4330 module (Broadcomm) on the true wireless-n 5Ghz band. While you can get wifi-n on the more common 2.4Ghz band, it is usually more cluttered & sometimes limited by other devices or repeaters, so that all connections default to the lowest speed of all devices connected. Use of the 5Ghz band makes streaming media to your home entertainment system a super fast & pleasant experience.
Couple these nice additions to the AMOLED screen & you also get pretty amazing battery life, making it, in my oppinion, a top-notch device for road warriors that prefer or must have a HW keyboard. If Samsung were to remake a next generation Glide (Glide 2?) & add a larger 4.5 or even 4.7 super-amoled & use the larger surface area to slightly slim the device down, I would definitely shell out for it again. With the advanced power management features of ICS, I can envision the Glide getting a good 48 hours of use.
So while again, the Glide may not be the sleekest & sexiest beast (Like my Vivid), it's solid reviews & customer satisfaction index, alongside the chance for Sammy to have the first ICS slider device on the market, updating the Glide to ICS was a no brainer.

Pick your top 5 up and coming droids

Please list which 5 upcoming android phones interest you the most. I compiled a list of possibilities below, but other new phones may be accepted. Discuss why if you want, add to the pros and cons.
Galaxy S3:
Pros – Exynos quad core 32nm processor that’s LTE capable, Ceramic casing, bezel-less design, ICS (rumoured to be stock vanilla not TW) 4.6+"large screen.
Cons – It’s all one big rumour for now. Plus will likely have TW.
HTC One X:
Pros – Tegra3 quin core, large 4.7” screen, 32GB storage plus 23GB dropbox, Bluetooth 4, 8MP 1080p recording. ICS, Available Now. Excellent Camera features.
Cons – No micro sd support, look of camera, heard dropbox only valid for 2 years. Debatable whether sense 4 falls in here.
LG 4x HD:
Pros – Tegra3 quin core, large 4.7” screen, 8MP camera w/1080p recording, good battery 2140mAh, NFC, Bluetooth 4, micro sd card ICS
Cons –MWC video demo seemed laggy
Asus Pad phone:
Pros – Versatile new phone concept that can fit in a tablet, dual core 1.5 GHz Krait a15 28nm processor, desirable 4.3 screen . Q2 release.
Cons – Possibly a pricy combo.
Droid Fighter:
Pros - Large 3300mAh battery, big 4.6 MP 720p screen, LTE, Bluetooth 4, ICS
Cons – possible rumour, nothing really known. Motoblur.
Motorola Atrix 3:
Pros – Tegra3 quin core, large 3300mAh battery, desirable 4.3” 720p screen, 10 MP camera. ICS
Cons – Almost all based on rumour with very little confirmed. Motoblur.
Fujitsu F12arc:
Pros – Tegra3 quin processor, highly water and dust resistant, Big 4.6” screen, 13 MP camera , 4GLTE (??? Thought it was incompatible with tegra 3 so far.)ICS
Cons – Unknown battery life, still ironing out ICS development glitches, maybe Q3 release or later.
Panasonic Eluga Power:
Pros - A fairly good processor 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor, Big 5” screen, water and dust proof, 8 MP camera, Fast Charge, ICS
Cons –Mediocre battery 1800 mAh, global launch details still speculated.
Hauwei Ascend D Quad:
Pros – Fast quad core, lovely 4.5” screen 1080p recording, good size 2500mAh battery ICS
Cons – Quality unproven, GPU unknown, might be a bit late to the game Q3-Q4
Because I'm on att, I would have to pick Galaxy s3, atrix 3, HTC one x, LG 4x HD, and Asus padfone in that order. nice gathering of all the rumors btw!
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
Those are good choices. Tegra 3 is lovely and I hold a lot of respect for it, but the Exynos really intrigues me and 32nm will likely provide good power efficiency.
My list is similar Galaxy S3, Atrix 3, Fujitsu F12arc, HTC One X, Asus Padfone. Although the LG4x HD could easily be swapped for HTC One X. Optus didn't get any of the Atrix series though so I have to see what ends up here in Australia.
Im eager to see the eluga power.
Some more pros and cons for it:
Pro: Small form factor: As big as a galaxy nexus but with 5" Display, On Screen Buttons
Con: apparantly no LED Flash, no MHL or other video out, fixed battery
I have to add, that the device is ip57 certified - that means it is actually waterproof not only water resistant.

Good to see others adding additional info.
So voting for a tougher version, water proof version of the galaxy note with what should be a greater a15 version duo core s4 snapdragon processor is a great choice. A processor that is suppose to stand toe to toe with tegra 3. Or surpass it if certain benchmarks are to be believed.
The waterproof phones (I believed the F12arc also says waterproof, I don't list until I know it is) are now getting competitive processors, unlike the defy. Phones with great build and processors should always rank high on our lists. Glad to see someone voting that way. Just hope we get to see it. Aussie land hasn't seen the Razr Maxx yet, so I can only pray for the Eluga power or F12arc.

Just under hd resolution (720p) is a rumor I heard. 4inch screen aluminum back. A millimeter thinner or two. I think the design will be similair to the 4/4S..flat sides like a block. I don't think it will be a quad core processor. I think the camera will be the same too since they already did that upgrade. And I'm assuming your ridiculously specific specs were meant to be a joke.

Many sources are talking about a change in the screen dimensions, resolution comes later. and most of the reports are talking about a screen with the similar width as its predecessor but with greater height. a metal back that forms a shape similar to that in HTC HD2's backside.

There are already a few videos and pics online of the leaked iPhone 5 parts. How true the final design will stay is to be seen.
But so far the two tone aluminum design looks sexy. It's thinner than 4s also supposedly.
Screen dimensions are going to be weird. It's a lot taller screen with around the same width, possibly new sim card dimensions also. Don't expect the resolution dpi to be any lower than the current retina display, apple is pushing towards extremely high resolutions on all their products.
As for the driving force. If it comes in fall October expect a smaller fabrication process core and maybe an a15 setup or hybrid like krait. Gpu will be top notch powervr sgx as usual, the fastest of the bunch. Ram will probably stay at 1gb, iOS really dowsnt need much anyway.
Camera inrpovements are a toss up, but id expect better low light

Hm Yeah
I Suppose I Should Have Thought Of The A15
That Would Make My Original Prediction Alter To A15 @ 900MHz
And The RAM Is Doubling Not Staying As It Is. The 4S Has 512MB RAM
And I Highly Doubt That The Simcard Will Change Again
[No Need To Reply With Nonsensical Back Up Links]
- Retina Display for 4" screen with at least 326 DPI.
- Apple A6 Quad core chip.
- 1GB RAM.
- New Design.
- Ships with iOS6.
- 12mp Camera, or just 8mp worth an improved lens.

Well we know its going to get a four inch screen and apparently ios 6 will have widgets in the form of "live icons" so its possible new iphone will use a basic form of widgets to fill up the larger resolution screen.
But knowing apple they will probably stick nfc and a larger screen on new iphone and leave anything else for an iphone 5S.
And all those iphone users who say that 3.5 inches is the perfect size display will convert overnight and 4 inches will now be the perfect screen size.

Anyone else want to speculate on the Samsung Galaxy S IV?

Just a harmless conversation based on what the next Samsung flagship phone might receive based on trends of the mobile industry. You can offer your own opinions and/or critiques.
With the Nexus 4, sporting a very powerful S4 Snapdragon quad processor, 320 Adreno GPU, 2 GB of RAM and the standard HD display, it's sure to be the strongest thing we have until the HTC Butterfly (now dubbed the HTC DNA) comes (reportedly to Verizon) sporting a 1080p screen, probably the same processor and RAM, as well as a bigger battery.
It's clear that the competition within the Android ecosystem isn't as monopolized by Samsung like it was a year or two ago - at least in terms of quality products. The Galaxy S II stayed not only as the top Android phone, but the top phone period for almost a whole year. It seems that HTC and LG have stepped up their game and are putting out functioning, competitive products. The Galaxy S III kind of fell off the performance radar within 4-5 months. (comparatively speaking)
Samsung has been reportedly testing 3 GB RAM on experiment phone models; if that made it to the final product of the GSIV, that would make it a trend-setter in that regard. It's also going to come with the new-generation 13 megapixel camera module, which is slated to desolate any popular 8 MP camera shooters on the market - such as the HTC One X, Galaxy S III (the worst of the bunch on the front-facing camera) or iPhone 5 with its color-reproduction and low-light performance.
As for the processor, I hope they throw in the ultra-powerful Exynos 5450 (the Cortex-A15 quad-core) rated at around 2 GHz, it will absolutely eat the already unbelievably fast S4 Krait quad in the upcoming megaphones for breakfast. The Mali-658 GPU from the aforementioned would probably also be on par, if not better than that in the iPad 4's A6X's GPU. Last but not least, anyone else hoping we'll see a beautiful Super AMOLED HD Plus display (or whatever they'll call it) with full 1080p?
All of these rumors and speculation sound reasonable at this point, given what we've been seeing in the market place. If it all turned out to be true, the Galaxy S IV would be leaps and bounds above any smartphone upon its release and maybe easily throughout the year subsequent to its release. I'm actually excited that the competition within Android is picking up steam. The harder these companies compete against each other, the more us, as consumers win.
In the next generation phones, most of them would be compatible with nfc payments, like Google wallet or isis.
I expect faster processor and a minimum of 2 gb of ram.
Most likely, every phone will come in different screen sizes. So you can choose a particular phone with your choice of screen size.

Why would they use Tegra 3 chips - which are only Cortex-A9's and the fact that Samsung develops their own chipset means they would opt for their own before another chipset commonly found in its competitors.

I sure hope they don't use the tegra chipset. That'll make them depend on nVidia for updates.
more batery life
It's great that a lot of attention is put into adding better specs (RAM, CPU, features like NFC, etc), but my biggest concern is that they' don't pay enough attention to battery life. I don't understand why they don't invest more in this field.
Here's to hoping that Samsung will care more about this and innovate in this area.
