[Q] Flashing a kernel compatible with CWM - General Questions and Answers

Hi, I am new here!
I have rooted my SAMSUNG GALAXY ACE with SOC and just downloaded ROM MANAGER, to start exploring new roms... however, turns out that for Samsung users we need a kernel compatible for Rom Manager. I need to do this to be able to Flash CWM recovery; as when I click that option, it does not come up with my phone model.
Anyway. The Dev says I need to flash a CWM compatible kernel... How do I go about doing this!? I have downloaded an app called SGS Kernel Flasher, but I assume I need to download a kernel before I can use this?!
I have searched round for an answer, I have found many forums in the Galaxy Ace with this particular issue but there apears not to be an answer...
Please help!

arghhh i knew it! nobody knows! samsung you suck I want my HTC back

Phone Model

I got one question but not sure if this is the right one.
Phone is rooted and installed Rom Manager. Once I clicked Rom Manager, it asks me 'confirm phone model'. I don't see samsung infuse on the list but only
Galaxy S Fascinate , Vibrant, Captvate, Galaxy S4G, Si9000. Which one I should use?

Doesn't matter, only one dev ever released ROMs via ROM Manager, and he pulled those releases because ROM Manager caused too many problems:
1) Green CWM would mis-flash too often
2) Those who did successfully flash would come to the dev thread without reading the first post of the dev thread. Manual downloads force people to at least read part of the first post.

[Q] Fearful of "Confirm Phone Model"

Hey guys , names Carocrazy132 I'm native to a host of other forums so feel free to flame if I make noob mistakes, I deserve it :highfive:
Anyways, yesterday I got my new Galaxy S Blaze 4G (on 2.3.6) via T-Mobile contract and some $ and I love it. Today, I rooted it and installed CWM via Odin 3 v1.85, however, I didn't use CWM on my last phone (Motorola Droid X2) so I don't really understand how ROM Manager (v5.0.2.1) works and I'm scared away from clicking like i normally would by the following message: "Confirm Phone Model". It lists the Galaxy S i9000 and T-Mobile Galaxy S2, but certainly no Galaxy S Blaze 4G. I followed several links to the CWM ROM Manager section (which I can't post the link to) where I still found no Galaxy S Blaze 4G.
Are most features of ROM Manager not working, is there another phone compatible with it, does it not matter, or is there another way?
ROM manager does NOT support our phone. DON'T click anything. UNINSTALL ROM MANAGER!! Manually get to CWM, although, ROM Manager can take you there.
Yea if you are using Rom manager to boot into recovery/download mode I suggest using Quick Boot. It works on GB and ICS roms and is very simple.

[Completed] Can't Install Custom Rom

Guys,
I am using Galaxy mini GT-S770. I wanted to root my phone and to flash a custom rom. I was able to root my phone and. I can't Install Cwm. I tried both the methods By zip and odin. While going to cwm screen its shows E;/Mount error. also many features of cwm does not work. when i look for soloutions i found out that to use custom rom. so how can we install a custom rom without cwm. or how to fix the error. Thank you
- Mathew Joy
Hi,
I can't find any Samsung with model number s770. Are you sure about that model? If your device is a clone and not an actual Samsung device.... Using files made for a Samsung will likely destroy your device.
If it is a Galaxy mini, and you've made a mistake on the model number, here is where to ask for help,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-mini/help
Again, don't ask there if it's a clone. You won't find help there, or any files of any kind that will work on your device.
Good luck!

ROMS compatible with ATT Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (espresso10att)? SGH-i497

Sorry if this has been posted before. I have successfully install a custom recovery but cant seem to find a good ROM that supports this specific device? Can anyone help? I wanted to use the cm-resurrection_remix but when I installed the one i downloaded it says my device is not supported.
You shouldn't flash roms made for other tab2 variants - it would brick your tab! Happylie you flashed the right recovery and it saved your tab.
Right I didnt flash it. Can you recommend a good ROM that is available for my device. The device is so sluggish with the stock rom even after factory reset and removing a lot of AT&T apps

there is no rom for your device, i think. google it. maybe you have luck.
I'm also looking for any usable rom apart from stock. I have an sph-p500 which is technically the same as sgh-i497 but found no roms at all. any help appreciated. all rom links are broken. I know the device is pretty old but I don't want to shred it.
