We all know that the Froyo camera app was way better than the stock Gb camera.... it's quality of the pic is less and it's alot darker than the Froyo..... but is it just me but the cm7 GB camera pic are are a bit better quality and brighter. i noticed that on the stock Gb it takes the picture on a fraction of a second right after the flash goes off and on the cm7 Gb built camera it takes the picture as soon as the flash light goes on?
Reason i brought this up is maybe a great camera developer might wanna take a look at it.
The CM7 camera app is tweaked by the CM7 team. The GB is stock with nothing touched..

Hello, im new to the G2X but coming from the Hd2 im pretty familiar with rom flashing and what not so yesterday i flashed WeaponG2x rom to my phone, but the lg camera was super dim on my screen. so i flashed the stock camera which fixed the dimness, but now the FFC photo quality is super poor Is there another camera i can use that will give me decent quality FFC pics? on the HD2 i used the MIUI camera, is that possible on the G2X? or can anyone recommend one from the market? thanks
Not sure if you are actually experiencing an issue. The FFC has significantly less resolution than the rear camera so image quality will be much lower.

thats what i was thinking too at first but the pics look actully kinda staticy not just blurry. the pics come out so bad theyre pretty much useless

that "statis" is due to the crappy image sensor. nothing u can do about it.
Try taking a picture in daylight outside. Should be better.
I am having the same issue after updating to Weapon G2x 2.4 Rom. Its great because I finally got the original LG camera back, but the FFC when in camera mode shows the picture in a horizontal layout while I am holding my phone in a veritcal position. Also, when in Camcorder mode the video start cutting out (green screen, static, lines, etc.) unless pretty much. I wonder if this would be fixed down the road and hopefully they dont remove the original LG Camera. I noticed the developer has a link to update to Gingerbread camera. I am new to all this and is my first time flashing a phone due to (LG/T-Mobile) allowing such a bad product to be sold.
You have to wait for update

Yeah the LG camera is still a work in progress they are definitly aware of it. They will have it fixed. You can follow progress if you go to the development section and find the post for stock froyo camera on gingerbread. then you can update yourself when they come out with the next version. I am using the LG camera on zboarders stock tweeked rom and the only issues really are like you said the FFC is horizontal and in video mode the zoom only works wile not recording. If you press the vol up\down while recording it shows the zoom bar but it doesnt zoom. And if you notice most video cameras dont do that anyway. I have not experienced the cut outs or green screens yet but I also dont shoot alot of video. Here is a link to the dedv page for the LG camera http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166531
Hi, I just flashed ARHD and the photos are not great, to say the least, in fact they are quite bad (500 kb at 8 mpx) is there any kind of flashable patch to improve the cam?
Thx in advance
Thats weird I'm not having this issue.
Can you tell me a little more about what you have flashed? A mod maybe?
Is it sensation cam or amaze cam?
I have no mods patched and the camera i refer is the built in the rom. it affects specially in dark pictures, in light photos the captures are much better.
that seems pretty normal to me. the size of my pictures have always ranged from 200kb-Xmb. the compression is pretty bad. they still look decent though. if any of you guys consistently get picture sizes in the mb then please share
I will continue to search, and share any findings
i noticed that the Sense camera app does alot of post processing even with the option checked off. it is inherent with any rom that uses the Sense cam (ie ARHD)
Looking at getting this device (coming from iP4).. but I am reading the shutter lag is pretty bad. I like my cell phones to have a good camera... not too much to ask, right?
My question - do any of the cooked ROM's reduce shutter lag? Or is the lag on a hardware level?
thanks for help in my decision!
i have always been able to find camera apps that overcame issues that i didnt like in the stock app... fast burst camera app can take pics really fast, and can take a bunch in a row so you could choose the one you like... camera illusion gives you lots of effects you can see in real time,
if youre worried about the shutter time, the stock app spends a long time focusing, but its gives some really nice results... so try a few apps and find the one that fits you best.

Ive noticed this also. Tried fast burst camera, but every pic I took was blurry... Any other good camera apps?

Bumping this to see if anyone has identified a better camera app. I tried out the Blaze, and I like it in pretty much all respects except for the shutter lag on the camera...
I'm pretty sure the camera in the Blaze dates back to the original Galaxy S. So while it can take some decent shots, it's no replacement for even a halfway decent point and shoot.
I have played with a few apps that will try to take an image faster than stock, but most do a crummy job as they do it without focusing first. But if you can live with the slight shutter delay the Blaze will actually take some pretty nice photos.
I would like to know why does the Sense based camera do such a much better work whe it comes to focusing, or actually the whole quality of the image. Why? I get so much more detail and a better focus on the sense camera. That's the only reason at all I stay with sense roms, because of the camera. It also has better stock effects, while the AOSP camera comes with some ugly ones like sepia aqua like yeah there are some cool ones depending on which type of photo you're trying to take but the sense camera comes with the country effect which just takes amazing quality photos on the effect.

Sense includes software tweaks? I don't notice very much of a difference myself *shrug*

Yeah, the only real difference I notice is slightly faster focus and (obviously) the near ZSL

Well yeah it actually is just a little difference but when it come to the country effect it's just astonishing the pics I can take with it. When I take a picture on the country effect it looks like they've been taken from a DSLR camera. Is there any way that effect can be ported to AOSP ?
Hi I need some help, is it just me or the sense roms camera app shots better pictures? What I mean its that the quality of the pictures is better than the aosp roms. what do you guys think?
Its totally subjective, of course. But you asked . . . I think you are wrong. There was a thread comparing the Sense camera versus AOSP a while back, with some pics posted by myself and others. The short story is that there isn't much difference, and in fact some thought the pics taken on the AOSP camera were better.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32953601
Given, this was back on ICS. The camera app has been updated on both Sense and AOSP builds since then. But nothing too drastic, IMO.
The layout and functionality of the Sense camera is superior, IMO. And that is one of the reasons I prefer Sense ROMs. But the actual difference in photo quality is negligible (possibly slightly better on AOSP). But of course, its completely subjective.
I find that the AOSP camera takes better pics at ISO 400. It takes a lot of the grain out, But both are close in quality.
The one problem with the AOSP cam over Sense cam is that AOSP cant take pics in 16:9. Or, at least I haven't found a solution to do so.
Something I've noticed is that the aosp camera seems a lot better balanced. It's better at taking indoor photos, and better at taking photos on a sunny day. Sense is much better at outdoor photos in low light though.
