Just flash it. It won't make a difference. That is just a bug within red cwm. It won't ever mount even if you odin a new rom. So just flash adrenaline shot. It reads and writes to /system just fine. That is why you can flash roms from red cwm.

if that were true, then why do devs always tell us what mounts to use for their roms? i'm pretty sure they don't put it there just for looks.

It's because older versions of the CWM/voodoo kernels didn't let you mount from the installer scripts. Now we've been putting the mount command into the script to make sure everything that is needed by the installer gets mounted even if you don't wind up setting the mounts yourself. Just making your life easier.

Have you tried using ODIN and flashing the latest Gingerbread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179830
Run Odin and pull your Battery. Hold down the Vol Down button then flash GB with ODIN follow the directions to a T. They are posted on the post for the leak.
I'll try this.

These are modded stock kernel from all gingerbread leak. I didn't change anything to these kernel, they are pure stock but did added few mods to it.
Things I added:
- CWM Recovery (Voodoo Red).
- Voodoo lagfix (it will convert /system, /data, and /cache partition to ext4 during first boot)
- Auto root (kernel will automatically root your GB ROM if its not rooted and install superuser.apk)
Installation procedure for RAW LEAK version:
- Install kernel using ODIN version, phone will reboot automatically.
- Go to recovery (adb reboot recovery).
- Disable voodoo
- Reboot
- Install busybox from market
- Go to recovery (adb reboot recovery)
- Enable voodoo
- Reboot
ODIN version:

So... my kernel flash failed, and I got the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue." message... Am I screwed? or should I still be able to enter download mode?
EDIT: Scratch that, it took a bit, but my phone appeared in Odin again. No worries
DOUBLE EDIT: This just flashes in the 'PDA' field right? I'm not doing anything wrong?
AThis sounds like good news, if only i understood what most of the stuff meant. Can someone give me accurate, precise directions on flashing this, it would be greatly appreciated. Current info: I'm on balil 3.3UV kernel, ICBINB, and kf2 modem. Thanks for all the help awesome community! Thanks to drhonk for making this kernel too!

You definitely need ODIN if you want to be on Froyo bootloaders. Only way to get back onto those is via ODIN.
Flashing another ROM may work but you will stay on GB bootloaders, which will still work to boot your phone just making you aware.
Flash ROM's via CWM that do not have bootloaders in them. Any froyo stock deodexed build by Whitehawkx should work because he doesn't include bootloaders in his flashable's.

What happens when you turn off lagfix via voodoo settings in CWM? That should fully convert you back to RFS.
If not try this, it's a flashable zip that was linked one of Dr Honk's earlier kernel posts. I couldn't find it linked up anymore so it's attached to this post. Flash that in CWM and it should put you back on RFS.
Then boot into the system to make sure you are on RFS, and you can go back and flash whatever ROM without worrying about issues of partial ext4 and rfs partitions.

sounds like it's connecting fine.. and you described it right, flash the stock rom in Odin first and boot up to make sure it works or do some minor set-up, then flash the latest 8/17 CWM in Odin and immediately boot into it after, make the backup then flash whatever rom/kernel you want (Gummy 2.0 has one included and will enable voodoo lagfix on first boot)
not that hard once you do it once or twice and kinda learn how it all works and whatnot

http://rootzwiki.com/topic/3426-kernel-gb-imoseyon-kernel-stock-repacked-v400-11611/
and no the stock rom does not include a custom voodoo kernel but the Gummy 2.0 package does so it will install the kernel and rom and enable voodoo lagfix on first boot (the Gummy rom package includes version 2.2.5 of that kernel I linked so it's a bit old, you can update it if you want by flashing the new one in CWM afterwards)

you don't really need to format the sd card as everything android related (not phone #'s or pictures or anything *you* put on there) will be wiped when you do the wipes in CWM

no no no stock rom in PDA first, boot up after the flash, power down and connect to Odin again and put CWM in PDA (everything goes in PDA) and flash then unplug phone after it passes and immediately boot into CWM no regular boot up.. then wipe data, dalvik (under advanced) and cache then flash Gummy or rom of your choice (custom rom build must match stock build like stock EP1W with EP1W Gummy 2.0), select reboot phone option and let the kernel activate voodoo lagfix when it boots up (may take a while)... once it starts you'll have a rooted voodoo custom rom, then you can hold the power button down until the reboot options menu comes up and select recovery to proceed to flash the updated kernel if you want
also the modems will be the ones installed with the stock rom, but you can flash new ones in Odin in the PDA section if you want

I get an error when doing a restore in cwm. It says "failed to unmount system" any thoughts?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Check mounts maybe?
I have the exact same problem using CWM. Even attempting to mess with the /system mount from the mounts menu gives the same error.
I think I read about that problem elsewhere & it was said it was a problem with CWM & GB. I'm not 100%, though.
Try this.
Remove the voodoo directory from your sdcard and reboot to convert back to rfs. Boot all the way into Android.
Reboot to recovery and do a full backup (if you dont already have one). Dont reboot yet!
Install the rfs_format.zip from drhonks Bali 3.3 thread (that you saved to your sdcard before doing this). Dont reboot yet!
Recover from the backup you just made. Dont reboot yet.
Enable lagfix and /system lagfix
Now Reboot.
This will cleanly format your partitions to make sure ext4 lagfix is enabled correctly, without loosing your current install.

I still don't see how that makes sense. My kj6 kernel, drhonk's kernels (for gb, with cmw+voodoo) can both mount /system...
I don't see what flashing bali will do differently then current kernel.
If there is some specific init code, or kernel changes that make bali fix mounting /system in these kinds of cases (where maybe the system partition is corrupted, or continues to fail it's own internal filesystem checks... that we don't see because we don't have source for fsr or rfs...) ...would be super helpful.
This is the only way to do a full restore.there is a bug with the cwm GB voodoo kernel. This is the work around. Search the forums, this had been explained many times.

Interesting. Yea, will search!
Lets see if we can fix this problem? Eh?
If we can, I'll wrap it into v0.1.0 beta3.
You don't need Odin to do this, just CWM flashables of the kernels.
Hi Guys
I apologize in advance, I did not understand what Bhundven wrote.
I don't mind flashing Bali kernel, just let it work...
can someone please state (already tested) steps for a dummy (like me) to understand.
Thanks!
1. Boot to CWM recovery
2. Flash the Bali kernel
3. Reboot recovery
4. Do your full restore
5. Flash GB kernel
6. Reboot System
Hopefully that's a good enough description, as I am not very good at giving instructions.
Please ask for better directions if you don't understand these.
Not responsible for damages, but this works for me. If you reboot system with Bali kernel you will bootloop, even if this happens you should be able to do 3 button salute to get back to CWM recovery.
I havent done the button combos in eons... Allways use quick boot/power menu... What are those before i attempt this?
