Is it possible to flash a froyo ROM from a gingerbread ROM if system wont convert to rfs but data is already rfs? I dont own a computer so Odin isn't an option for me.

You definitely need ODIN if you want to be on Froyo bootloaders. Only way to get back onto those is via ODIN.
Flashing another ROM may work but you will stay on GB bootloaders, which will still work to boot your phone just making you aware.
Flash ROM's via CWM that do not have bootloaders in them. Any froyo stock deodexed build by Whitehawkx should work because he doesn't include bootloaders in his flashable's.

Just curious because my data is rfs and my system is ext4. It wouldn't bootloop on me would it.

if you are trying to flash one of the GB roms, you will have problems with an ext4 partition.

What happens when you turn off lagfix via voodoo settings in CWM? That should fully convert you back to RFS.
If not try this, it's a flashable zip that was linked one of Dr Honk's earlier kernel posts. I couldn't find it linked up anymore so it's attached to this post. Flash that in CWM and it should put you back on RFS.
Then boot into the system to make sure you are on RFS, and you can go back and flash whatever ROM without worrying about issues of partial ext4 and rfs partitions.

I get not enough memory card space. Will the rfs formatter delete memory card to.

rfs formatter formats everything.
if you boot up and you get the space error, clear cache and fix permissions.

Made a mistake. Maybe you can help?

Was flashing ICBINB rom and forgot to make a nandroid backup and didn't convert to EXT4 before flashing. Now I am stuck in CWM and phone will not boot. Tried flashing a stock rom via odin, but that wouldnt work either. Any ideas?
Since you can get into cwm, you can fix it. factory reset, wipe cache, check mounts, flash ext4, flash rom, reboot and see if it runs

Well, you definitely only soft bricked at most. What do you mean by you can't flash a stock ROM via Odin? Can you give more details?
It should be easily fixed by Odin. You should Odin KC1, since KD1 has a corrupt system partition.

[Kernel][GB][KG4/KG6/KH2/KI1/KI3/KJ1] Stock Kernel + CWM + Voodoo EXT4 Lagfix

These are modded stock kernel from all gingerbread leak. I didn't change anything to these kernel, they are pure stock but did added few mods to it.
Things I added:
- CWM Recovery (Voodoo Red).
- Voodoo lagfix (it will convert /system, /data, and /cache partition to ext4 during first boot)
- Auto root (kernel will automatically root your GB ROM if its not rooted and install superuser.apk)
Installation procedure for RAW LEAK version:
- Install kernel using ODIN version, phone will reboot automatically.
- Go to recovery (adb reboot recovery).
- Disable voodoo
- Reboot
- Install busybox from market
- Go to recovery (adb reboot recovery)
- Enable voodoo
- Reboot
ODIN version:
stock+Voodoo-T959VKG4.tar
stock+Voodoo-T959VKG6.tar
stock+Voodoo-T959VKH2.tar
stock+Voodoo-T959VKI1.tar
stock+Voodoo-T959VKI3.tar
stock+Voodoo-T959VKJ1.tar
CWM Flashable:

stock+Voodoo-T959VKG6-unsigned-update.zip
stock+Voodoo-T959VKH2-unsigned-update.zip

Actually where can i find the bootloaders? I flashed hawks deodexed sans the bootloaders. will I have to extract from original leak? Or should I still be on froyo cause I can't get into recovery on this rom

im flashing back to KD1 then ill flash the debloated version then ill odin this kernal see if that works
Damn! Now I have to switch to Gingerbread. Great work drhonk!
Thank You! You are the Man!
So... my kernel flash failed, and I got the "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue." message... Am I screwed? or should I still be able to enter download mode?
EDIT: Scratch that, it took a bit, but my phone appeared in Odin again. No worries
DOUBLE EDIT: This just flashes in the 'PDA' field right? I'm not doing anything wrong?
AThis sounds like good news, if only i understood what most of the stuff meant. Can someone give me accurate, precise directions on flashing this, it would be greatly appreciated. Current info: I'm on balil 3.3UV kernel, ICBINB, and kf2 modem. Thanks for all the help awesome community! Thanks to drhonk for making this kernel too!

Just flash it. It won't make a difference. That is just a bug within red cwm. It won't ever mount even if you odin a new rom. So just flash adrenaline shot. It reads and writes to /system just fine. That is why you can flash roms from red cwm.

if that were true, then why do devs always tell us what mounts to use for their roms? i'm pretty sure they don't put it there just for looks.

It's because older versions of the CWM/voodoo kernels didn't let you mount from the installer scripts. Now we've been putting the mount command into the script to make sure everything that is needed by the installer gets mounted even if you don't wind up setting the mounts yourself. Just making your life easier.

When doing a restore...

I get an error when doing a restore in cwm. It says "failed to unmount system" any thoughts?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA App
Check mounts maybe?
I have the exact same problem using CWM. Even attempting to mess with the /system mount from the mounts menu gives the same error.
I think I read about that problem elsewhere & it was said it was a problem with CWM & GB. I'm not 100%, though.
Try this.
Remove the voodoo directory from your sdcard and reboot to convert back to rfs. Boot all the way into Android.
Reboot to recovery and do a full backup (if you dont already have one). Dont reboot yet!
Install the rfs_format.zip from drhonks Bali 3.3 thread (that you saved to your sdcard before doing this). Dont reboot yet!
Recover from the backup you just made. Dont reboot yet.
Enable lagfix and /system lagfix
Now Reboot.
This will cleanly format your partitions to make sure ext4 lagfix is enabled correctly, without loosing your current install.

Why flash bali?
Because you won't be able to mount system otherwise.

I still don't see how that makes sense. My kj6 kernel, drhonk's kernels (for gb, with cmw+voodoo) can both mount /system...
I don't see what flashing bali will do differently then current kernel.
If there is some specific init code, or kernel changes that make bali fix mounting /system in these kinds of cases (where maybe the system partition is corrupted, or continues to fail it's own internal filesystem checks... that we don't see because we don't have source for fsr or rfs...) ...would be super helpful.
This is the only way to do a full restore.there is a bug with the cwm GB voodoo kernel. This is the work around. Search the forums, this had been explained many times.

I agree, on GB roms I always flash the Bali 3.3 kernel to do a full restore then flash back to a GB kernel before rebooting.
Only hitch is i dont have acces to a pc for odin atm...

Interesting. Yea, will search!
Lets see if we can fix this problem? Eh?
If we can, I'll wrap it into v0.1.0 beta3.
You don't need Odin to do this, just CWM flashables of the kernels.
Hi Guys
I apologize in advance, I did not understand what Bhundven wrote.
I don't mind flashing Bali kernel, just let it work...
can someone please state (already tested) steps for a dummy (like me) to understand.
Thanks!
1. Boot to CWM recovery
2. Flash the Bali kernel
3. Reboot recovery
4. Do your full restore
5. Flash GB kernel
6. Reboot System
Hopefully that's a good enough description, as I am not very good at giving instructions.
Please ask for better directions if you don't understand these.
Not responsible for damages, but this works for me. If you reboot system with Bali kernel you will bootloop, even if this happens you should be able to do 3 button salute to get back to CWM recovery.
I havent done the button combos in eons... Allways use quick boot/power menu... What are those before i attempt this?

Power + volume up and down when Galaxy S 4g screen comes up let go of power button but continue holding the volume buttons (may take a little bit but keep holding the buttons).

Need help with tweak stock 1.4

Hey guys, unfortunately I don't have 10 posts here yet and I can't post in the tweak stock thread about this but hopefully someone will help me. So basically I'm newer to rooting and right now all I have is a mac to work with which limits me to not being able to use odin. Right now my phone is on tweak stock 1.1 with no custom kernel. I want to upgrade to 1.4 so I wiped all my caches and did a factory reset then tried to load tweak stock 1.4 with the custom pbj kernel and it aborts the installation in clockwork mod. Is there anyway I can do this without odin?

Just as a heads up DO NOT MESS WITH VOODOO LAGFIX OR EXT4 without a computer with odin. If something goes wrong you need the pit file to reformat.

You actually don't need the pit to reformat, the odin file brings you back to rfs without it.
As for updating, flash the 1.4 patch in CWM and you should be good to go.

In CWM, under mounts and storage, make sure it says unmount in front of /system. If it says mount, then go down to it and select it - it should change to unmount. At that point /system should be mounted - that's what he was talking about.
Thanks guys your a huge help. I have a couple last questions, how do I switch back and forth from rfs to ext4 and do I add the pbj kernel through Odin afterwards or can I flash it by itself with cwm?

Use CWM to flash Immonsey kernel, then install Voodoo Control app(download from the market), then use VoodooControlapp to enable Ext4, then use CWM to flash PBJ kernel. If you stuck or have question about each step let me know.

ztkryan, thank you very much for those battery icons. You're pretty quick, I didn't expect you deliver them so fast. Again thank you.
And in case you wanted to search for the Voodoo-capable kernel, it's author's name is actually Imoseyon, not immonsey.

You actually have to install imoseyon4.0, then go into voodoo control and convert to Ext4, then reboot, then flash 0130 PBJ. You will not be able to toggle between rfs and ext4 while on PBJ.
But personally I have seen no difference between ext4 and rfs. I stick with rfs.
Thanks for all your help guys, I think I'm in ext4 already because otherwise I couldn't have tweak stock 1.1 on my phone. Going to try what you guys said and I'll let you know if I have success .
