Wasn't sure where to post but give it a shot here . Wife came from blackberry to droid and has had problems ever since. Alot of mis information from verizon. She had some contacts on backup assistant and some on gmail but cant get it to work with out doubles. One rep said you could use both one said no. Also some contacts came from gmail but the phone numbers show up in the notes section and some dont. Crazy. How can we get it finally setup. Import from both, export ,delete , then re import? Next her calendar wont show prior than 3 months. She uses it for work and needs to look at past jobs. It shows on gmail website but wont on her phone. Gps obviously cant do anything about that unless root. Wont let me do because its a work phone and wont in case something happens. Just frustrated and fed up and I get the most ****.

I have the tmobile contact backup turned off & set to not sync. Every time I look at my phone though it is shown in the notification bar as "Checking Status". Does this happen to anyone else? I don't want this damn program running at all!
Mine doesn't seem to be running. i went into manage apps, cleared the data and turned off sync. I still check it every now and again to make sure it's not syncing behind my back. I don't trust it because for the first few days it seemed undeterred when I'd tried to stop it.
I'll try that

Also I would advise you to delete your tmobile contacts form your phone, and just store and sue the google contacts, so that you can be sure if the Tmobile contacts syn has reenabled itself after you disabled it.
I can't wait for Root so we can get rid of this stuff!

I don't want to sync my contacts with google simple because it'll add any email address that you email. I use Outlook to handle them. I did clear the contact backup data & haven't seen anything happen since then
For some reason when I got the phone it added all my contacts about 5 times each... I had to delete everything from the phone itself, then resync with tmobile back up because of all the crazy linking of phone numbers. I don't even store contacts on my phone anymore I purely use the tmobile backup list and facebook contacts.
Starting off, I am completely new to rooting and this forum all together so if I use a word that is just completely wrong, let me know haha. So today I rooted my phone and put the Synergy ROM on it. It worked out all fine and I got all my apps back and my contacts. Today, I was at work, not using my phone at all but when I finished work and was calling my buddy, I realized it deleted all my contacts. Not mad, I realized they were all my facebook ones so I just re-synced and they came back. Unfortunately, others were missing as well, some that were saved on my phone. Confused, I tried re-syncing with Google to retrieve them but no luck. I also tried getting them from a back up. I accept them being gone but now, my facebook does not want to sync the pictures for my contacts like previously. I am wondering what happened and how should I go about fixing this? Is it something that just happens on occasion or was mine just a freak accident?
its most likly a glitch with facebook
It seems like someone elses contact list made its way in to my phone and I am not sure how. I think overnight this happened but cant be sure. I just noticed it. I dont know a single name on there so I am trying to figure this out. Anyone got any clues? I got two thoughts.. somehow facebook (or another app) put them there.. or my last phone that vanished has been reactivated and they left my email in there? If so I would love to know if there is a way to find them.

That is the only apps I can think of that could possibly have something to do with it. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks

Same issue happened with me and facebook. i just had to unsynce all via menu in facebook settings
Im pretty sure it was the other scenario... someone has my phone. Its been missing for a couple of months now and its currently powered on.. the lookout plan b app works but it seems the phone is moving and that will only send me the location for ten minutes without texting it.. it doesnt have the phone number it used to so im out of luck on that.
I tried searching around the internet for this, but came up with nothing.
The problem listed isn't on my phone. And I have an HTC One X, but with Venom XL, So I don't know what happened here or what the phone asked for, but just bare with me.
Last night, AT&T updated my friends HTC One X. He did the update, no problems.
This morning the phone asked something about syncing contacts. He assumed it was part of the update process and just said yes. The phone erased all his call and e-mail contacts. This purged through to our Office365 server and erased all the contacts from his E-mail account and Outlook as well. Our IT guy had a backup of his e-mail list, but all his phone contacts are still gone. Signed into Google and checked there also, completely wiped out.
Does anybody know what he said yes to? He didn't read the message well before agreeing to it. Is there any ways to recover his phone list?

AT&T Address book maybe? Did he set up an account so that he can check to see if that is where his info went? I have heard of IT problems with AT&T updates doing this but mostly on I Phones.
My next door neighbor is a sweet old lady who we occasionally invite over for dinner and take care of stuff for her (lawn mowing/weeding/spraying, etc....), and she has this LG Stylo 4 phone and her carrier is metro by t-mobile. Now I forgot exactly when this happened, but she had all of her contacts 86'd out of nowhere, and she claims that maybe her phone got hacked or something, I don't know
I fiddled enough with my phone and thought "maybe I can recover her contacts for her" since im the tech support for all modern hardware problems in my family (phone problems, computer problems and so on), but i'm hitting a roadblock on how I can get her contacts back without rooting her phone. I tried seeing if she had her contacts auto-backing up to whatever google service she was auto-set with, but none of her contacts were set to backup at all, and last time we ran into this problem was with my father, and by his words, it took about 6 months for his vanished contacts to magically re-appear somehow without his input
so, is there any non-root method available for me to get her contacts back, or will she have to re-add them one by one by memory?
so....I guess ill take the lack of any replies as there is no non-root method of restoring her contacts bar sending her phone to its respective manufacturer/dealer
kinda disappointed ngl
There's not much you can do unless she has a Google account linked to the phone or backed up her contacts with an app. As far as her contacts disappearing, it could be something as simple as settings, contacts settings, and view.. maybe she messed with the settings and accidentally clicked off of her phone for what contacts to view in settings. It has to be something simple because unless somebody's just trying to be an ass I don't see somebody hacking a little old lady's phone just to delete her contacts.
