Starting off, I am completely new to rooting and this forum all together so if I use a word that is just completely wrong, let me know haha. So today I rooted my phone and put the Synergy ROM on it. It worked out all fine and I got all my apps back and my contacts. Today, I was at work, not using my phone at all but when I finished work and was calling my buddy, I realized it deleted all my contacts. Not mad, I realized they were all my facebook ones so I just re-synced and they came back. Unfortunately, others were missing as well, some that were saved on my phone. Confused, I tried re-syncing with Google to retrieve them but no luck. I also tried getting them from a back up. I accept them being gone but now, my facebook does not want to sync the pictures for my contacts like previously. I am wondering what happened and how should I go about fixing this? Is it something that just happens on occasion or was mine just a freak accident?

Yeah mine just worked. I downloaded the Facebook app from the market though. I didn't know the phone came with one.

The Facebook Sync that came with the device isn't working for me either. "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly."

It's not working for me either... I get the same message as some other posters, "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." I have tried re-installing the facebook app, and removing the facebook account in Settings>Accounts and sync. No luck yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I haven't gotten mine to work either. I have the same errors as everyone else is reporting.
I don't see any other way of doing it via downloading a market app either.
I really don't care if it is integrated via samsung or an app, I just want to check it out.
Any suggestions?
Someone should try to contact AT&T or Samsung about this.
Having the same problem here. What did you do to accomplish the same with the Facebook app?
I don't know what happened but mine finally started working. I did root the device but I don't know if that had anything to do with it.
So facebook is now showing contacts on my phone, as far as actually properly 'syncing' I don't know yet.
However, they must have just fixed what was wrong with the connection.

Bloo is an app that'll give you notifications similar to the BB FB app when someone sends a message or makes a comment or even pokes you. Although I have had issues when I try to go to the photo that someone just commented about, bloo can't get there. But it does notify me. I just have to use the FB app if I want to reply back.

My fb sync is definitely not working either. I've probably tried it at least 15 times since sunday. A few hard resets, reseating battery and sim. Tried setting up fb sync as the very first thing after a hard reset so no other settings or accounts conflicted... Nothing. I would very much like this to work. Whats strange is that in the contacts application the activities tab pulls my news feed, but within my contacts and groups there are 0 contacts that show and I get the sync error saying it will be back shortly in the accounts settings.
any update on this? i really want my facebook contacts to sync.

Yep, same here. It pulls in my activities, but not my contacts with the very same error. I've read on some other forums that it's a FB error and resolves itself when it feels like it. But it does seem weird that it would get updates and not contacts unless it's pulling that from somewhere else. I'm wondering if it has to do with the security settings I have set up on FB?
Well I finally got it to work. Contacts sync 2 days ago but did have to lynk a few manually. Then it would just have a error if it tried to auto sync. Rooted my phone yesterday day and removed att apps and now it will sync every hour no problems. Duno if either helped but worth a shot.

Subject says most of it. I don't know how, but most contacts are gone.
I did a restore from a Titanium backup on my phone, and they came back, and I breathed a sige of relief.
But as soon as the phone synched, they were gone again. Apparently the contacts in Google Mail take precedence.
Desperately hoping that someone has a solution for me.

Not sure why that is happening, but you can try copying your contacts from your phone to your computer and then to gmail. Then sync.
I had this suggestion on another forum I frequent:
Turn off sync and restore again. Then set your sync to merge instead of overwrite.
Sounds good, but I don't see a selection to do that. Any suggestions for that?

Well, I got them back, While browsing around through the menus, I saw an export capability. So I turned off synchronization, restored again, exported. Then took that file to my PC and imported it into Google.
When all was said and done, I had to Clear the contacts on the device, and synch from Google again, and now I"m back. Whewh...
Maybe you guys can help me out here. This is the second time this has happened. All of the sudden, without warning, all my contacts are gone. I sent a text not 10 mins ago, at that point everybody who I'd texted had their names and photos next to the texts. Now, I'm left with just a bunch of numbers. I checked my "Contacts" app, and it's empty. It did the same thing about a week ago, but it was early and I had a Nandroid backup from the night before, so I only lost about two texts. My last backup is from two days ago, too much for me to restore back that far. Any idea a) WHY this would happen, as randomly as it did? and b) How to get back any contacts that might not transfer from a GMail/Facebook Sync? Would this be a problem with the phone, or something I did to the phone that would make it do this literally randomly?
I guess I'll throw in that I mainly use Handcent, have ChompSMS on here as well, and haven't used the default messaging app since I downloaded Handcent. I also am no longer able to sync Facebook it appears.
Also, contacts are the only thing missing. All other data is still there, along with all apps and even my homescreen layout is still intact.

Check your sync options. On a different device, I've had the Contacts come unchecked, and when the phone sync'd it erased them all
I checked everything after it happened, there were no changes. I didn't have it set up for Auto-sync either, so it shouldn't have just randomly synced to nothing. And that wouldn't explain why my phone and SIM contacts aren't accessible either.
Anyways, it happened again today. I noticed it right after I replied to a text using LauncherPro's new Messaging widget. I'm wondering if that's not the common factor in the three times that it's happened. If it happens again, it'll be getting unrooted, restored to stock and exchanged under warranty. The most intrusive thing I've done to this phone is try to get a lagfix to work (that didn't even work), and I doubt the side effects of that would include random contact deletion...
OK, finally got a problem I couldn't fix with searching.... My Feeds & Updates widget has never been great about updating on its own but now it won't pull the pictures down for the contacts or their posts. I still have them if I go into contacts and then to activities. But liked being able to pull up pics and such without using the browser. I can still refresh F&U manually and it pulls the new posts. I have tried stopping the SNS pic service, clearing both facebook and F&U data, pulling the battery after shut down. Is there a file somewhere I can delete and let it rebuild it to get this back? It really isn't the end of the world but I hate it not working right. My wife's works fine. Hers is newer though. Any help would be great. Oh and mine is stock 2.2, voodoo lagfix, rooted, only removed the bloatware. F&U was working fine after all this had been done for several weeks. This place has been a huge help, everything I have done I've been able to do without having to ask any questions but this one has me stumped.
well it seems the problem took care of itself. it's working now like it should. for now anyway.
Wasn't sure where to post but give it a shot here . Wife came from blackberry to droid and has had problems ever since. Alot of mis information from verizon. She had some contacts on backup assistant and some on gmail but cant get it to work with out doubles. One rep said you could use both one said no. Also some contacts came from gmail but the phone numbers show up in the notes section and some dont. Crazy. How can we get it finally setup. Import from both, export ,delete , then re import? Next her calendar wont show prior than 3 months. She uses it for work and needs to look at past jobs. It shows on gmail website but wont on her phone. Gps obviously cant do anything about that unless root. Wont let me do because its a work phone and wont in case something happens. Just frustrated and fed up and I get the most ****.
