Major differences from Bionic?
Battery life, look and feel, ease of use. Also there's going to be some nice roms coming out in the near future. Plus I can't stand an all touch phone. The keyboard on the d3 is the best keyboard out of all phones guarantee.

I have dealt with Iphone in the past and in my opinion if u want easy customization
ABSOLUTELY DROID BIONIC all the way.
way faster than iphone4 too.

You won't really get an unbiased answer here from most, including me.
So screw the iphone and get the bionic!

Probably not the type of response you were fishing for though.

There's a ton of forums for iphone out there...
iphone developers, iphone forums, mac rumors, mac forums, apple insider, everything icafe, planet iphones, etc
You should hit the store and check them both out. See which one feels better.
Battery life isn't the best on the iphone
I would go android, used both OS and Android offers more freedom and more fun in my opinion with custom roms and hacks.
Please thank me if I helped.

Also depends what kind of user you are. iPhone is really easy to use. If you're new to smartphones it would be a breeze for you to get use to. If you're looking for hacks and customizing the phone, then ya androids are better for that.
I went with the iphone. So far so good. Siri is ok, haven't used it much.

Alright, So my brother is looking to get a Refurbished Verizon smartphone.
All he basically wants to do on it is browse the web, check email, and light gaming. His choices are the Samsung Fascinate (I have this one), Droid X, Droid Incredible, Droid 2 Global.
I want your opinion on which you think the best smartphone out of these phones is.
Thank You.
Then he doesn't need a smartphone.
what do you mean?
If your brother only wants to check email, browse the internet and game here and there why does he need a smartphone?
I can tell you right now, that 3/4 people on these forums don't NEED a smartphone. He's just jumping on the bandwagon, I don't really use a smartphone for what its intended for.
P.S. what do YOU use your smartphone for?
I just need opinions, not wether he need a smartphone or not.
If you don't mind waiting a few weeks, the HTC Trophy (Windows Phone 7) should be annouced soon. Windows Phone 7 has gotten tons of great reviews and is claimed to blow away Android and the iPhone in the performance end. It does everyting you want and even has Xbox live support (a lot of great games).
Just a thought if your not fixed on Android...
Main reason why I bought my HD2 was to mod it, watch movies, browse internet on the huge screen, listen to music, text,... but if i had to choose between the phones you listed I would go with the Fascinate. My friend has one and the screen on that thing is pretty beast.
Ohh yeah but if he could wait i would be all over the htc thunderbolt haha

would the phone choice be dependent upon who he has as a carrier? I like my evo, and Droid Incredible and my son has an Evo Shift he really likes. My son did have a Samsung Epic that he did NOT like.
All of the aforementioned phones will do exactly what your brother wants out of his phone, whether it be smart or not. However, out of past experiences, I would say the Droid OS is pretty stable, and becomes even better when flashed

As much as I love how open android is I still think I may want to get an iphone 4. So can you guys give me some reasons that would make me not make this decision.
Sent from my Inspire "4G" using XDA Premium App
ugh, why? This would be almost a waste of money. Consider that in the next 3-4 months a multitude of phones are dropping. For ex: iphone5, htc holiday (htc inspire hd), Samsung galaxy s 2, Lg Thrill, htc lead, Sony Xperia play, Samsung Attain....
I guess my question is, how would making the switch from Android to IOS honestly benefit you and your lifestyle? I prefer android simply because of the openness if I don't feel like sense then I got with cm7 if I feel like sense I flash a sense rom. With IOS you only get jail-broke or non jail-broke, in which some you can't even use i-tunes for apps, which i-tunes still has some apps that cydia doesn't. Not to mention almost all IOS apps are being ported to android.
Though I am just not a fan of apple; I personally don't see a reason to pay absurd amounts of money for something that is technologically behind the times, and over priced for the parts it contains. Take into consideration that everything but IOS is outsourced to other phone makers like lg and samsung.

I believe you would love the iPhone 4. I know I love mine. And I have Android and WP7. The iPhone 4 has the best battery life of all systems...purely amazing...and just works so well. It isn't as sweet as WP7, but it has all the features and is perfectly reliable. You'll love the apps for iOS as well. I'd say go for it. But keep Android also.
The Wife has one. I opt'd for the inspire because;
1. Cheaper
2. More horse power with the OC
3. More Customization.
4. Games are finally coming in droves for Android.
5. Custom Roms. After a Jailbreak what can you load on an Iphone? Nothing great. I guess you can wear your pirate eye patch, but that is lame....
6. Smaller screen. Ho Damn, I can't stand using the eyephone for internet browsing. Its to small and missing flash....
7. In the near future there will be awesome phones and the iphone 5. Why get last years model?
Ect, ect, ect, ect....
I must say that if you are in this forum (XDA Android) asking about the benefits of IOS(Apple), then clearly you are a comment whore that already knows the in and outs of this.

He has an inspire and has every right to ask us how we feel about the switch.
Anyway back on topic. I wouldn't get the iPhone. You will be unhappy with it in a month. iOS has terrible memory management and is SEVERELY limited. It has great battery life because you can't do anything with it lol
There is no true multitasking on the iPhone. My battery life would be great of I closed every app immediately after using it. And I just can not stand how safari reformats everything to what it thinks looks best.
The only thing the iPhone has on android right now is its camera and screen resolution. That's it.

Well I kinda agree. There are several threads already asking about the iPhone 4. I mean come on. You can Google it and hear it from the guys that review every phone imaginable and get their two cents. Were not here to tell you to keep your inspire, instead make your own choice. The layouts of both phones are everywhere to be found and why tell a guy the reasons not to leave when he owns a inspire already? If you love your android, keep it. You know the ins and outs of IOS and honestly its over priced rubbish that is created year after year with very little upgrades just to make them apple brainwashed idiots keep buying hoping for a change....not happening. Want my opinion? Steve jobs and his entire apple company can stick with mac books and that other crap but not cell phones. They are scam artists and copying basterds that deserve to go back in time and sit a few years in pelican bay Penn and made someone's woman. Just like Samsung, you expect more, yet get pointed into disappointed. My iPhone 4 lasted exactly 12 hours and 37 mins. Received it before ATT closed one night and had it back in the AM. If you want a iPhone,go ahead, try it out. If you need info, search youtube or Google and you already know details. Just my two cents

This has nothing to do with PC versus Mac, this has to do with locked vs unlocked hardware. i will be boycotting Motorola in the future, this is my first Moto smartphone and the experience has been less than desirable. It's another case of great hardware ruined by being severely limited/crippled by the manufacturer. Samsung, LG, or HTC for me in the future.

Good luck in IOS jail
I sincerely wish you luck with an idevice. I was talked into trying the IP4, and knowing that I could easily sell it for enough dough to pickup some android goodness, I gave it a good, honest try. I fought for almost 6mos trying to make it fit. There were things that were nice, like the *screen*, battery life, speed, and camera.
I even jailbroke that puppy and actually had it part-way there. Unfortunately, the IOS ecosystem is so restrictive (though admittedly slowly getting better) that I wound up bashing my head against stupid, arbitrary limitations. At first, the little annoyances seem minor and tolerable. afterall, this is a pretty solid device, right? so what if you can't quite do x, y, or z. There are 'workarounds' and such, but then you realize that hitting the same little issues every single day starts to grate on you, and many of the 'workarounds' are half-ass (backgrounding apps just kills battery life, for eg.).
While IOS is well optimized for the hardware, and they really get all the speed they can out of it, the GUI also employs tricks to make it *feel* fast (smooth is a better word). Those smooth transitions are so smooth because they are slow, and the GUI will pre-load elements even before they are ready for touch input. Once I got to know IOS, I found I was tapping on freshly loaded GUI 'buttons' that ignored my input for a second or so. lame. Also, the 'polished' feel of IOS apps is almost purely illusory, as they crash frequently when 'unfrozen' (they don't get to run in the background). IOS just makes the crash look really pretty as the app disappears for just a moment and then restarts itself never telling you what actually happened. Android is just being honest when it reports an app crashed.
If yer on a tiered data plan, get ready for the hate. despite all the bull**** claims, IOS uses *far* more data than android. I could rarely stay under 200MB/mo on my IP4 despite having no widgets and only doing email and a bit of web browsing. I rarely go over 80MB in a month now that I'm on the atrix2.
A friend of mine who switched from the IP3G to the SGSII is thankful he didn't get the IP4s. He reports that his wife's IP4s seems sluggish and apps crash alot.
The iDevices can be alluring, and it might be worth trying, but just make sure you have a back-out plan. You may not even fully realize the pit yer in until months later.

Hey man i think it's just a matter of opinion - IOS or Android. Of course Iphones get apps first but Android is more customizable. So if you are just going to use it as a phone and not bother to develop something go for the Iphone. You're asking for opinions on an Android phone vs the iPhone on an Android forum. Naturally, the vast majority of users here will say the Android device is better. That's how these kinds of threads always go, therefore I'm closing this before any problems develop.
I get frustrated with HTC and AT&T and think about jumping ship, but now that I've had my 1X for a while, I just couldn't bear to give up the camera and associated app (mainly burst mode & the ability to take hi res stills while recording HD video).
I just wondered how many people felt the same and/or what that special feature is for you? Do you wish it was available on other phones? Or from other OEMs?

i absolutely love my One X, I don't think I could ever go without it. I love the camera and the speed. It was a little frustrating to deal with multitasking for a while but they sent out the update and fixed quickly. This is the kind of phone that looks like it had a lot of thought that went into designing it.
There were many times where I expected people to start jumping ship when it came to HTC, although I think they have redeemed themselves. HTC was releasing too many cheap phones too frequently. They needed to stop and focus on one phone or one series. This could not have payed of better for them.
For me the biggest thing is phone quality, it doesn't feel cheap and looks SO VERY SEXYYYYYY!

HTC was known for supporting their customers and thriving for the development that was made outside their walls. They their customer support and open source support along side their amazing devices set them apart from the other manufacturers. They made it clear publicly that they do, and will support us. With no more of a warning than a punch in the back of our heads they took that away. They sent out the hox and the Evo lte with a MUCH increased security. The devs went to work and accomplished a lot of feats to open the devices up. Now, this part of the journey was frustrating enough, and many attempts were made to reach out and let htc know how we felt as customers and nobody got anything more than 1pre written response. Written so any joe could open up and see their customers voice and simply hit a auto reply without even finishing reading what the customer had to say.
To put the icing on the cake, to really make that sucker punch they gave us into baseball bat they did what i believe was their lowest of all time. They took us, the same developer community they supported, applauded and learned from and used our work to cutoff all the exploits that were there. Unlocking exploits, rooting exploits they killed them. They even implemented new securities on developments that were being explored. EXPLORED. So, that is my opinion and my feelings on the issue. Thats why i could care less to see them file bankruptcy and disappear. They obviously could care less about me. Like i said its MHO i dont care who agrees or disagrees. Ive moved on to other manufacturers but remain active in trying to help this community.

I feel the same way about a lot of companies. Up until Apple's style of suing people I stayed pretty neutral in the android vs Apple thing. Now I'm looking to sell my Apple computer and replace every product even linked to them. Now that HTC is following a certain ****y path with security and developer support I'm thinking about doing something similar. I choose with my money and if HTC won't give me the experience I want them I'll let someone else take up the job. Maybe that new rumored nexus?

I choose with my money and if HTC won't give me the experience I want them I'll let someone else take up the job. Maybe that new rumored nexus?
We'll see HTC.. we'll see

Agreed. I think choosing with our money is the only way...since HTC obviously does not seem to care about the benefits of this community
