Ok, so I got my HTC Sensation "carrier free", but it's actually a SFR France branded terminal. One of the worst supported models out there. I only got that ~27MB OTA update. Even with that, I still didn't had HTC Watch on the phone. So I did an S-OFF and unbranded the phone. I now have HTC Europe 1.45.401.2 stock ROM installed, WITH HTC Watch. The only thing is that I don't think it's the latest official app since mine only shows just 10 or so trailers at the top in that ribbon and at the bottom it just says HTC Watch, nothing else, no button, no menu options besides "check for updates". Which doesn't find anything.
Is this related to my country in any way (Romania), because I know I can't have access to stuff like Netflix or Hulu, or is the version just too old? Mine is 0.2.30.1.33 ... On the other hand, the widget seems to be OK.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe someone has an ask file I can use. Thanks....

than it will locate you, and may be you will got it.
I did not. I contact htc support and they told me that the content is not available in my region. so good luck to you

Hi, all.
I'm a new Inspire owner, an I'm going crazy trying to download an app from Android Market. When I finally was able to get the download started, a message popped up saying that I have a Desire HD and it's not supported by my provider, and it refused to download.
I looked through the settings and found "About phone," and under that "Phone identity." Here it says, correctly, that my Model number is HTC Inspire 4G.
So why does the download process think I have a Desire HD, and can I change it? This isn't the first time I've seen my device recognized as a Desire HD. I also see a lot of posts here saying "Posted from my Desire HD." I suspect that these are Inspire users having the same thing going on.
What can I do?
Thanks!
P.S. If anyone can tell me how to search the forums for this issue, I'd be happy to do so. Since the early days of forums, I've never been able to figure out how to search for a phrase. Is it possible? I tried several searches here, and kept coming up with 999 hits.
The Inspire is the US version of the Desire HD.

Yes, I was aware that they were the same thing, or close to it. The Inspire is also (of course) the AT&T version. The issue is that some software apparently isn't smart enough to know that. Thus it claims that AT&T doesn't support the Desire HD; I assume that if my device were identified as an Inspire, it would be just fine.
Thanks for the quick response!
Might I ask what app you are trying to download?

I just discovered that when I email, my phone is correctly identified as an Inspire 4G!
Actually, this is all academic now, since I was able to download the apk from the EasyTether home page. I really would like to know what was going on here, though....

About easytether, obviously you missed all the tech sites reporting that ATT, T-Mobile, and Verizon blocking the tethering apps from the Market on their devices. Since you wanted it, you were right to sideload it. As for the other issue, not sure, but I just changed my Sig from this app to read Inspire.

Not only that, but if you try to install apps from the web based market, and it asks you which device you want to install to? The Inspire is listed as a Desire HD. Just like the MyTouch 4G is listed as the Glacier, and the G2 is listed as the Vision.
A Vodafone customised version of Android Market has just been silently pushed to my Sensation.
"My Apps" tab has been replaced by "Vodafone" - a list of vodafone apps and other recommended apps.
I do not want this crap - I was just about happy, putting up with the minimal branding as it existed. Now I need to be able to flash a generic ROM again.
What region?
I just noticed something like this, but after a reboot it disappeared (please note that I have fast boot deactivated).
I'm in the UK.
welcome to the club, TMO has i think 8 apps/links that are completely useless, and 3 or 4 are ALWAYS running, chewing up the ram
and im still on stock out of box OS version :/

You're right. I just rebooted and it returned to normal. What are they up to?
My unbranded UK Sensation has a HTC button in place of the normal My Apps. I find it a tad annoying, as I'm used to clicking that button to check what updates I have available.

What market version is it? Mine is 2.3.4 but i saw on the Vodafone forum about this this morning.
Mine is also 2.3.4 now, but I didn't check it at the time, before the problem went away on reboot.

from what i know its not crapware just an extra channel with apps reduced or free. It makes sense that if this takes off then there will be no need to have all the bloat on your phone in future.

Really angry about this decision to hijack my Market app without consent. I prefer the much more useful "My Apps" tab not some link to crap 'partner's apps.
On unbranded you get HTC.
Freeze the stock market using temp root and then put an intended market on your phone using gapps.

As anybody else on vodafone uk notice the hidden vodafone rescue app start to install itself whenever debugging is on and you reboot? Even when you un-install it it will reinstall when you reboot.

Does anyone have any experience with admitting to HTC that they've rooted their phones?
I have a problem where my volume button fell off & they've said if I provide them with some details they'll send me a new one gratis...
However, some of the info they require is Android Version & Software version and I'd hate for them to tell me that as I've updated the phone to ARHD my volume button is no longer under warranty?!
Alternatively can anyone provide me with the latest legitimate Android version number, build number & software number (I can say a different mobile network if this makes a difference as my phone was purchased sim-unlocked in the first place)
Thanks for any help in advance
Some people have had to send in there phones for repair, rooted, and still able to turn on. They got it back no problems, HTC still fixed it and didn't mention the root. When in doubt, flash your stock RUU then reroot later.
It's hardware, not software that you're having problems with.
When I called twice for a new housing, they sent one over to me no questions asked, I just had to send the old one back in.

That much is obvious to you & I but common sense & company policy rarely go hand in hand in my personal experience. I'm encouraged to hear HTC may be the exception though I still don't know why they need my software info given the issue is hardware.
d;ude just look up what the info is suppose to be ruu number and all that... dont say **** about root or custom rom... be smart... give them what your phone should be running and your idei number they dont know nothing dfferent..
I had the same problem. My volum button fell off. I just walked into a customer service center and showed them my phone (rooted with custom rom).
They did not care about my software. They know this is the weak spot of the phone!
I also got a completely new back cover.
(Although because it was out of stock it took them 2 month!!)
Its really hard to find spare parts. Always out of stock
Give them the following numbers:
Software number: 1.73.401.4
Android Version: 2.3.4
Sense Version: 3.0

why? they now have on file that your phone has been rooted etc..
lets hope you don't need a warranty repair any time soon..
Hello, just wanted to know one thing, as to whether the housing is replaceable by HTC under warranty? And if anyone knows if this applies to the India branch of HTC. My camera housing triangle is about to fall off! Would appreciate any replies!

Honesty is not the best policy in a world of companies that make handsets for less than a Chinese takeaway and sell them for more than what I'd be willing to buy my kids for.

Technically, rooting means voiding your warranty. Thats sucks if or when you have to send your phone for repairs. They can easily deny your warranty and they absolutely will. LMFAO.

I don't know if they've changed their policy since - but about 2 years ago I sent in my Desire after the screen developed several dead pixels. It was clearly a hardware issue.
I posted the phone in for repair. Later, HTC asked me to pay to fix and return the phone as it was rooted. (was quite a hefty charge too if I recall correctly).
They may have changed since or it may simply luck of the draw whether a tech notices what software it's running.
I'm on Orange with 2 swappables I've never used, hacked the phone, put ICS on it. Tried to swap the swappables, but I can't pick anything other than Russel Grant Astrology.
I'm assuming this is because it checks the android version or something, it's not the phone model as I've changed that and it did nothing.
I'm pretty resigned at the moment, but I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Dear all,
Some questions around HTC CIDs driving me mad, because I couldn't find any clear statement so far. Or when I found some, they don’t match my own experience with my HTC phones…
I started to get interested in the HTC CIDs because I bought on ebay from Hong Kong an HTC One M8 and I couldn't update it. The standard HTC software / system update (in the setting -> about section) cries the following error: "we have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software..." As far as I could understand thanks to my researches, my phone is branded, therefore, until the concerned carrier releases updates for my phone, I won't be able to get them.
But it is strange anyway, because I didn't ANY system update so far... whereas the HTC One M8 is now few years old… Moreover, a question comes to my mind: how to get patches directly from HTC? According to my researches, even the HTC super CID doesn’t help, but on the contrary blocks OTAs… so far this question remains unanswered for me. I didn’t find clear statement about that.
But here comes the weirdest stuff. I have also an HTC One M7 bought from the same ebay seller in Hong Kong. Out of the box, the phone had already the HTC super CID. The box was normally sealed, so it seemed to come directly from the factory. Also myself, I never tried to change it or even to unlock the bootloader or flash a new ROM, etc. Nothing, nada, niente, zilch, rien.
But I got system updates! The phone was originally shipped with Jelly Bean, I updated it to Lollipop through the HTC system updates, and got also other systems update patches, no issue at any point.
So here’s my question: What the hell??? How to get HTC update patches directly from HTC without waiting for carriers and does the HTC super CID really blocks them? I really don’t understand how to simply get a not branded phone receiving system update patches with no delay. And mainly, I don’t know if I should return the M8 to the ebay shop in Hong Kong, or if I should try to play with the CID and flash it with the HTC stock ROM to get it like an original HTC. If someone knows…
Cheers
Think I got some answers from another source.
Shall I detail ? Anybody cares ?
