Here is another simple fix for another HTC's "design flaw". If you have your music playback cutting out, or songs skipping back and forth and pausing randomly (all while on headphones), this fix is for you. If you don't, you probably will at some point...
It seems there is a reason why Nokia puts an ugly piece of plastic around the headphone jack. Can you find that on your phone? No? Well, there's your problem!
In Sensation's case, headphones constantly "touch" the back cover, which eventually scratches out the paint, revealing a tiny bit of bare metal. Similar thing happens on (unconfirmed): HTC HD2, HTC Desire HD (reported but unlikely), HTC EVO 3D, Samsung Captivate, Motorola Droid X and possibly a few more phones. Some of these have a silver ring around the jack, but this obviously doesn't help.
So, here it is on the Sensation:

Problems occur once headphones come in contact with bare metal. I tried covering the scratch with paint, nail polish and super glue. None of this works, it just removes more paint. Coating it with more permanent paint would probably work for a while, but that would peel off eventually.
From what I can see, there are two ways to fix this.
One is quite simple:
While two involves modifying the headphones themselves.
It took me a while, but I found a perfect solution:
These are... dental.. rubbers... I actually have no idea what they are really called They are used for braces. I believe you can find them in any dental store. Just bring this picture with you They are under 1$, and come in various colours.
This is what you need to do with them:
Basically invisible
Here is another way to do the same thing, done by Mr. Ulmo.
In case this happens on your phone (non-Sensation) and you are able to fix it, please notify me so I can add it here
Also, in case you don't want to do any "hardware alterations", this app blocks headphone buttons, which kind of fixes the problem.
Hope I helped!
I think it's the issue with HTC headphones. When I plugged them into my X1, it started to randomly dial people and $hit. If you are using another headphones, then I can't help you.
Edit: just read that you used different headphones. Nvm then

Unfortunately, the headphones are not to blame. Similar thing happens with my desktop headphones, or ordinary speakers.
Songs don't skip with non-HTC headphones (since they don't have controls built in), but music still cuts out.
Also, I tried different music apps.

Perhaps...
I'll do a little cleaning and report back
edit:
Well it can't be that simple can it... There was some dust in there, but nothing spectacular. It's still the same :\
I solved it... It took less than expected
I opened the phone up, thinking I'll have to mess with the jack, but the jack is fine.
It's due to the worst back cover in the universe (again). EVO 3D for example has a nice finish around the jack, so headphones don't touch the cover. Sensation on the other hand has nothing. Once paint peels off that nothing, headphones start touching bare metal, and go crazy.
Fu**ing flagship device...
I think I'll fix it with black nail polish, or silicone, or something...
Its strange as I had this! It got so bad I blamed the headphones and kept moving the wire. Result - after a while I knackered them up!
I bought a new pair and only last week, they started to too. It sort of cuts out for a second.
Ive looked at my phone, and it looks as discussed above, worn away paint...
Same Issue
I've had the same issue since I got my Sensation back in June, and it appears to be getting worse and worse. Leads me to believe it does have something to do with the paint around the headphone jack being rubbed off. It's also not just HTC headphones, as I have a very basic pair that I've used in addition to the ones provided by HTC, and it happens with those as well. A little search of the Google turns up a bunch of other people that have had this same problem. I contacted HTC support a few weeks ago about the issue and the response was basically, "Tough Luck". The tech mentioned that the headphones are coming into contact with other parts of the phone when in the headphone jack, and are somehow sending control signals to the phone. There is no fix.
It's a pain in the ass, particularly when you're listening to music and the phone auto-dials your boss or a client. I may try to root the phone and see if there's a way to turn off headphone controls in the software.

There is a fix, and I believe it's quite easy. I'll post a picture or two tonight
I have the same problem. There's a little chip in the paint right at the edge of my headphone jack and whenever the pins are wiggled slightly sound cuts out.
OP updated with a fix
If anyone can think of a better way to fix this, feel free to post.

My gf has a Sensation. She hasn't come across this issue yet as she doesn't use headphones with the phone but I have an HTC HD2 and this was a issue with that phone as well. I don't use it anymore but for music and video but oddly it did not do this with all headphones. The OEM ones it would do this. I have a cheap $8 pair I bought from a computer store and never does this.
I have an older truck I use when i go hunting that still has a cassette deck in it and when i use the cassette adapter and plug into the phone it also skips and pauses. Sucks but im just living with it. I would guess overall its a HTC design issue
I have the same problem on Desire HD!
lol had same problem, thought it is like a damaged mp3 thx for the info..but sad for such a nice device
I got the same problem when I touch the upper left of my phone
Definitely a design problem.
Having similar problem with my HTC HD2. Definitely a phone design problem. If you'll let HTC know about it, please do so.
I have the same problem on my Droid X.

Hi, I just bought this great phone, and now want to buy headphones with remote control for music and microphone to answer calls ... Juts like the ones the come included with the phone, but with much better sound. Can you recommend some?
Any headphones with remote control, such as the iPhone, would work in the Desire HD with full funcionality? Thank you very much everybody.
Forget that... sorry.
Had a look for some but didn't find. So I'm thinking about making my own by cutting the stock headphone just above the control/mic unit and then attaching to a decent pair of headphones to it. Should be pretty simple I think.

iPhone headsets may work with limited functionality. The Klipsch s4i mic and answer button works but music controls do not.

Instead of attaching headphones attach a 3.5mm jack.
this is the best works perfect, and has a high definition sound
http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?ctn=SHB9000/97&scy=in&slg=en
I personally use the 'jabra bt3030'. Search it on google. The sound quality is awesome and it also is usefull for awnsering calls (great microphone! people don't hear I'm in my car, and my car makes some sound!), but the primary use is for listening to music. I currently have poweramp on my phone and it works with the headset buttons.
The best thing for me is that you can put the phone in your pocket, bag, or leave it on the table and walk away without fear cables getting stuck, or having to stop the music.
What it isn't good for, is navigation. The headset goes in standby when there isn't any sound played. This saves energy but there is a small lag between the headset going on and playing sound. This doesn't happen when listening music or awnsering calls, it stays on. But for navigation, often two words fall away. The battery life is awesome. I sometimes question myself if this thing has a corereactor inside producing it's own energy.
Only negative point is the price. It's more expensive then none bluetooth headsets. But the durability is high and makes up for the price.
I think the Jabra seems the best choice, especially since you can attach your own headphones... The only downside I find is that you must have the bluetooth on all the time, and if the Desire HD battery may suffer because of it. And we all know battery is not one of the strong points in this phone...
Any wired alternative?
Currently I have the Dr. Dre beat Tour mobile headphones. The button works with droidshuffle app. But if the action is more than a single tap of the button, it goes into phone mode. Hoping for someone to fix that. For now I can only use the button as a next track button, but the sound quality is great so i deal with it.
Bluetooth headsets are compatible with almost all phones.
I'd recommend a bluetooth headset but with some tweaks the HTC DHD headset is also great.
You could cut out the earpieces and attach some new ones.
Well looks like cutting and attaching a 3.5mm jack isn't as easy as I thought it would be, I have the sound working but not the controls - I haven't touched anything on that side so I've got no idea why!

On the second pic, the connection on the top is my new wiring.
For anyone else thinking of having a go, apart from the controls not working, you show be aware that the wires are coated in an enamel which makes the connections a little trickier plus the board is held in with some tough insulating glue which will have to be removed before you can take it out (this might be visible on one side of the first pic - yellowish colour).
Looks like I'll have to keep looking for un-ear headphones with music control and Mic unless anyone has any tips.

Tried to give it a go myself a while ago. I ended up tearing up the wires on the board. The weld spots loosens easily then everything goes to shät.
I like akg headphones. Good quality sound at a reasonable price. At their site they have a model with a remote and mic on it (wired). It only says compatible with iphone.
Does anyone know if they work on other phones, like htc?

Hey how do you connect a bluetooth headset to the Desire HD? I have trouble
wouldnt it be easier just to swap the speer part of the HTC headset
This is what I did..too bad I didn't have a camera lying around to take a pics when i opened up this. But this way you wont ruin your board soldering. Oh and remember to use a 15W-25W (I use an ANTEX C15) or you'll end up burning the speaker coils and the film.
I use Jabra 3030 for music and when I'm driving. This was just an experiment, got this cheap Panasonic headset for a tenner from HMV and sounds amazing..just like my Jabra
hi kamranh3 what is the model of your bt headset? there should be a pairing button somewhere.(read the manual if you're not sure) usually you gotta press it for 2-5 secs to put it on pairing mode.then tap scan for devices on your DHD and it should see your headset..well probably

Sennheiser mm50. Disgned for iphone but works on DHD also.
I have them for 2 years. You can by them on ebay for 18$
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
@ Rajnus:
the Sennheiser MM50 has "only" a button for take and end calls or can you skip the tracks and adjust the volume?
I haven't found at the moment a heaset fitting for the DHD which has all this features, so I will solder my own headset, since I modifed my HTC RC C160 to have after the mic and control piece a standard 3,5mm female jack to plug each headset. but this solution locks not perfect, there are than to much cables and I can't adjust the volume.
So I will make a second headset: (the parts should arrive in the next days)
a further HTC RC C160 + Sennheiser CX280 (with integrated small Volume controller. all from Amazon.de for less the 40€
I will again open the mic piece of the c160 and solder the cutted wire from the cx280 (after the volume controller) and have so a (for me) perfect DHD headset. let's see if that work
Anyway, if somebody has a better out of the box solution for a in-ear headset with volume and musicplayer control for the DHD please feel free to share!

Thanks

Iv not seen anything that could let you use that type of earphone sorry...
I have tried two different earphones that have inline controls and found that the play/hold to skip etc button will work but the others such as volume wont. So not sure if skip buttons would work anyway, just to let you know.
The hardware case wouldn't match the stick, I'm afraid, so i won't think it will ever work.
I have a headset that came with my desire that has music controls similar to the one posted above. I'll try attaching a pic of it now. Its an official HTC product.

HTC provides us by the good headphones, i have this one
Lookin for an In-ear headset with remote for my Desire S
Sure we got a headset from HTC which came with the phone, and while the remote controller on the headset is great, the earphones themself are unconfortable and their sound quality is just not well enough.
Thats why im hunting on the internet for some propper headset with a remote, which can controll the music player on my Desire S.
Sadly, I didn't find it so far...
I'd really appreciate if someone could suggest me a Brand, who makes compatible In-Ear style earphones for HTC phones.
think this will give you what you want
Have been using these with a set of senheiser headphones, Works great.

you can buy the apple in ear phones if you dont mind wearing this trendy piece of sh**! I dont think it'll work with the stock player, but works with powerAMP and PlayerPro. I use the 'stock-apple-headphones' with the controll (with playerPRO) and I dont see why it shouldnt work with the in ear phones.

If you want to get a little creative with a pair of in ear buds. Going to try this this week.
Try some skullcandies. They are excellent sound quality, warranty is awesome (mechanical failure- free replacement, you break them- 50% off next skullcandies)
Some variants of the in ear headphones have in line controls, but they are about the size of the iPod ones, not sure if that's big enough for you...
Or, if you want to risk it... Try splicing the cable =)
I'm not sure if you've sorted this problem, but I just tried looking for the same thing.. HTC here sells in-ear headphones with limited controls (it plays/pauses and double clicks for next, but it is supposed to triple click to reverse.. as if) anyway, they aren't that good, but they do work with HTC gear..
BUT - today I went to a Sony Ericsson store and they had bluetooth headphones with FULL controls.. large like the ones you posted and they worked perfectly on my Desire.. they were expensive though... and I've never road tested them, but in the store, they were amazing.
if you google Sony Ericsson Bluetooth headphones, they come up right away.. there are a couple different models and you can switch the buds as well, which I hadn't realised.. (I never thought to check, but the SE ones sounded good anyway)
Well your headphone has a 3.5mm port but they appear to have an extra part that fits into something. It's hard to explain... erm in the pic to the bottom left so I wouldn't be too sure if they'd work or not. HTC give you free headphones with their phones but frankly They're not very well shaped for inside the ear as they're a complete round shape and are uncomfortable and awkward. I want to find better ones with all the music controls...
I use a pair of these:
klipsch. com/ na-en/ products/ image-s4i-overview
They're designed for the iPhone but they give pretty awesome quality and can be had pretty cheap now they're a bit older.
Pretty much any third party music player app can manipulate the middle button and you can answer calls/use the mic with them too.
I use PowerAmp and a single click on the middle button plays/pauses music, double click goes to the next track and triple click the previous. Unfortunately the volume up/down buttons don't work, but doesn't bother me as I can press the side volume keys on the phone through my jeans

Otherwise I will just hack a solution out of the set of headphones supplied with my soon to be purchased Desire S and my current pair of Sennheiser in ears. I am also tempted to make a setup for my HD 465 over the head headphones.

I got last summer zagg smartbuds and since then I have no problem at all.
I use PlayerPro.
The good thing about smartbuds over the other ones is that they have their own volume control (a sliding button) so 1 click for pause, 2 clicks for next, and 3 for previous and also volume control without touching the phone.

I use my old Samsung epic 4G in ear earphones which have the remote for answer and mute but that's about it, no volume rocker. They have a nice bass boost I might add.
I always chime in on these kinds of threads with my personal favorite: Zagg Smartbuds.
Been using them since I got my Nexus One, and they sound great. The single button works just fine for play/pause, and most music apps I've come across (like PowerAMP on my phone) support double- and triple-clicks for FF and RW functions just fine with these earbuds.
There's a mechanical slider for volume control which isn't totally ideal, but is probably the only way to do volume with headphones technically designed for the iPhone.
They shouldn't cost too much either. Like $60 or something?
V-Moda revamp. Period.
Anyone have any affordable suggestions?
I don't exactly want to spend $100+ on heaphones

With all the experience i got in life, i can tell: Quality has a price.
In other words, cheap price usually don't have quality.
The headphones that came with my Nexus One work great. The controls work perfectly and I've always felt the sound quality was great. (Although, I'm not a expert in audio quality.)
Works perfectly for me when I go to the gym.

Fair enough. I was looking at some Beats by Dr Dre, but i might wait a few weeks before i actually decide to buy some.
Grab a pair of Ultimate Ears Super-Fi 5vi on eBay for about $50~80
They are basically the same as the Ultimate Ears 600vi, which is selling for about $100-120. The 5vi has a single button that works with the Sensation. UE discontinued it a while ago and replaced it with the 600vi, which is basically the same but with iPhone style 3-button design. The extra two buttons won't work with the Sensation anyway, so you may just grab the old version, the 5vi, for much lower price.
HTC+Beats=
Maybe HTC will give out headphones to people who have bought one of their phones?
I'm one who listens to continuous music for hours at a time, so the remotes just get in the way for me. I generally don't buy them with the remotes because they either don't work / are more expensive than remote-less models/ both.
As far as earbuds go, I've had several in the sub-$100 range, and bang-for-your-buck I haven't found anything to beat my Sennheiser CX300's. For only 30 dollars they're on par with my nicer Shure earbuds, but much less expensive. They're also very compact and easy to tuck anywhere. I highly recommend them if you're on a budget but want good sound, just make sure you use the right set of ear pieces (it comes with 3 sizes) to get the right bass transfer. You'll know when it's right because it will sound great.
I have in-ear a-JAYS Four earphones. I love the cristal clear sound quality. The flat cable is a real day to day pleasure, no more annoying tangled cables as they say. What really sucks is that they're made for apple devices , so only one of three's remote controller buttons works on android . It seems there's no way to make the two other buttons to work on android devices

Klipsch "Gaming" earbuds from Amazon. Identical specs to the S4i but with a single button control. Great sound quality and work fine with the Sensation. They also include a nifty splitter so you can use them for your PC. Cost is around $53 or so last time I checked.
Also, Best Buy currently has Woodees Blues on sale for under $40 (used to be $79 or so). I picked up a pair on a whim, and they sound excellent.
Both work fine with the sensation for play/pause and answering/disconnecting calls. I haven't found any that work with ff/rw, etc. besides the stock HTC ones.

Skull Candy 50/50 No Longer Working?
This seems to be the most relevant thread I can find for this question. I have a pair of Skull Candy 50/50 headphones with mic that I had been using on my Nexus one (purchased in the last few weeks... and before I knew I was upgrading my phone). The volume rocker didn't work on the nexus one but the ONE feature (aside from sound quality) that I need from my headset is MUTE. It worked on the Nexus One and it doesn't work on the Sensation 4G.
Has anyone seen this with other headsets? Is there anything I can do besides investing in a new pair (the crappy ones that come with the phone are no good for my purposes unfortunately... I end up on a lot of conference calls in noisy places like airports so I like the sound isolation of the skull candy earbuds with the mute/un-mute on the headset so that I don't have to constantly power on the phone's screen to mute or un-mute the call).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

yup, you got it.. I did that to my hd2 awhile back too so I thought why not my sensation.
I don't know, I've been using the stock Sensation earphones, no major complaints, except that maybe a volume control would be nice on the remote, and they seem somewhat fragile - compared to a free pair I got that came with a friend's HTC Wildfire, only has a single button though.
Another thing I would take into consideration is what the earphones will be used for. For example, for work, I used to take a crappy £2 set of earphones, because they'd often get caught in machinery, or cut, etc.
Does anyone know if it's possible to reassign functions to the buttons on the remote?
I had to do a factory reset on my LG G watch to get it to pair correctly with my Moto Pure. Anyhow, I was snapping a couple of pics and thought some of you might like to view...
Awesome pics, love the third one.
HaHa...
I'm getting that ash wood back as well but white front and champagne accent. Glad you posted these! How has the battery life been for you thus far?
Oh yeah the battery man?
Dig the pictures. Looks awesome.
Look, guys, I have ALWAYS come from a background of using EXTENDED batteries for my phones. Damn, the size! My choice was between this Moto Pure and the LG G4 and its removable battery. I opted for this Moto. I love it, but the battery life is ho-humm for me. I've been up since 8 am and it's now 5pm. I have 41 percent battery life left. I have used it a bit, 2h 4mins SOT and I keep it at full brightness, but using adaptive brightness.
I think for most this is fine. With the quick charger it comes with and my various others I recently bought, I'll be fine. It's those times when my family goes to the mtns and such that I wish I had an extended battery, but I'll be happy enough with this.
I will say that the wood back is slick/slippery and what's even more slippery is the metal sides. I am afraid of dropping this thing. But I figured as much when I placed my order and I knew I'd be buying a case for it. So why go with wood only to place it in a cover? Resell down the line. So long as I choose a case that doesn't do more damage to the finish than good. Another thing about the wood is that I have greasy hands/skin/hair and the wood shows this badly. Regardless....
I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!!
One further worry I have is with my sweaty palms (sounds dirty, I know). I'm afraid this will damage the wood in quick fashion if I don't get a case on it. But perhaps this isn't much of a problem as I've never had a wood back in any previous phones. I just know what water does to wood/laminate/etc. Again, I'll be putting a case around this puppy so no worries. Love the phone thus far. It's sexy and sophisticated for sure.
One last gripe for now is that because I have larger hands, I'd love the Moto dimple to be placed toward the top of the phone more by about 3/4" - 1". I don't use it at all in the location it's in, which was never a selling point for me anyway.
Thanks for showing your DAC/amp - headphone setup. Which FiiO is that? Is that a USB OTG cable between the X and the FiiO? How does the X sound with and without the FiiO? Thanks!
Hey, with the E18, does your screen stay on once you've got the DAC on?
I've got a 2014 X and the E18 keeps my screen on until I manually turn it off.
Yes, that's a USB On the Go (Or maybe not USB OTG being that its micro usb to micro?) connection from the Moto Pure to my Fiio E18 Kunlun. The Fiio does not keep the Moto from going into sleep, sleeps just fine. I use Poweramp as a player and I have not done any A/B comparisons with the Moto and my old Note 2. In theory the dac in the Fiio should handle the audio processing so it should sound no different, but perhaps there is something I am not aware of. Point is, things sound great and all is well.
Also as to how does the Fiio sound compared to the regular headphone jack from the moto, well, again I haven't done much A/B comparison. Things always sound better with a decent Dac/amp. My Philips Fidelio X2's are easy to drive so they sound great straight from the Moto, but yeah, the Fiio E18 will always sound better.
I hate that you have to factory reset your watch to pair with a new device. Or even if you factory reset your phone you'll have to factory reset your watch. Major pain to have to set everything up and go through all the tutorials again. Love the photos though. I got the walnut back with the dark grey accents and it's so purty.

Yeah, I'm using the factory supplied bumper for now as I wait to see what cases there are to offer. Now that I have the phone in hand, I really, really don't want to cover up the wood back. It's gorgeous, but I really need convenience as well and the ability to plop the phone down on a hard surface. Maybe we'll find it's easy to replace the backs. I've taken apart many a phone for various reasons so it shouldn't be too bad. So long as replacement rears don't cost too much. If such was the case, perhaps I would feel more compelled to go naked. Then again, I always look for more protection for the camera lens on my phones...

Very good to know, looks like it is time for me to start looking into portable DACs, just need to find something that has at least a Wolfson WM8975 or better.
What do you use as your media player?
I just use Poweramp. I guess on some phones back in the day and perhaps still that have USB OTG had issues working with standard players so many used USB Audio Recorder Pro, but my Note 2 never had issues so I used Poweramp and do with my Moto as well. No issues.
Headphone audio quality
Thanks for posting!
i've been looking at the most recent reviews for any information on the audio quality out the headphone jack. I have an O2 amp which i use with my iPhone. What's the headphone audio quality in your opinion?
Again, it sounds pretty good to me, but I haven't done any critical listening since I've had the phone. No A/B comparisons nor any listening sessions past 5 minutes in a not so quiet room with open back headphones.
Straight out of the headphone jack was not bad in the quick listening, but compared to my fiio e18, it's a bit lacking as you would expect. Your amp will help, but I'd venture to guess you'd want to use your audio program's equalizer. YMMV. You may find it perfectly acceptable. Sorry I couldn't help more. I haven't made time to listen to my headphones much.

Drat, that's probably why.
Just had the chance to connect my rev A. E18 to my new X and it acts funny. Sound through the same connections has a very low gain. And once I unplug the E18 my X's power button stops working, haha.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Hello, the top speaker came louder than the bottom speaker on my Xperia XZ Premium G1814. They were initially very low (the bottom one was almost non existent) but somehow both got a little louder after the 45.0.A.7.90 update. Seemed a good thing.
Here's the thing, the bottom one now works perfectly, sounding as I like but the top one now makes static sounds like it has been damaged a little. You know that type of sound that's just irritating to here.
It makes this annoying static sound for everything (music, notifications, alarms). I have spoken with support (UK) and they said to send the phone in for repair, something about they have to check to see if the issue is under warranty? What?
What do you guys think? Is this issue covered under warranty? (for those who might have had a similar issue in the past)

I haven't had any issues in the past but it sounds like something that should be covered (assuming the issue isn't due to water damage). Sounds like a faulty speaker to me which should place it firmly in the realm of defective manufacturing. These speakers are so quiet it's not like you can even make them loud enough to damage them.

LOL my Xperia Z Ultra was lost to water damage at the pool back then. Can't make the same mistake twice

I don't have that problem and I didn't have it on my Z3 back in the day either, so I suspect a faulty speaker.

I believe this is totally normal for the right speaker on the XZ premium to sound like utter garbage. The left speaker works just fine but the right speaker sounds like it's coming out of a Tamagotchi.
I've got the same issue on my XZ vanilla.
Try this : listen to some audio and then cover the left speaker with your finger for a few seconds then remove finger again. Repeat the same procedure on the right speaker. Do you notice the difference?
This seems to be by design. A flawed one that is. The right speaker just sounds wrong. It's lacking the bass and the dolby surround sound I guess. Perhaps some factory worker forgot to remove the plastic cover from the right speaker before assembling the phone? Anyone else notice this?

Correct, defeats the purpose for having dual front firing speakers. I tried that the first day I got the device because I could tell the bottom one was lacking. I've sent the device back because the top one developed an annoying distortion that I hope will either get fixed or exchanged for a new device

When I first got my XZP, the notification sounds did have a bit static to it, like it was too loud or something. I remember reading before that the speaker has to be calibrated before use (play music for 30 minutes straight) and the speakers should calibrate. If you notice in the service test menu, there's a new test called "Speaker Calibration". Upon checking it after the 30 minutes thing, it said "Calibrated". Notification sounds played as normal from the on. Maybe you just had to calibrate the speakers or something?
So does the right speaker still sound like utter trash? Mine sure does. I believe all xperias have this design flaw. Sony please fix it ASAP!

Mine are both nearly equal.
Youtube however is far louder than netflix.
Yes, in some songs my bottom speaker is quieter then top one.
LOL got my phone delivered back to me today without even knowing they had sent it back. What a nice surprise. They fixed the top speaker and now they both sound almost indistinguishable.
They replaced the top one and no more crackling sound. Everything sounds way better than when I even got the phone [emoji23]

After reading this thread, I tested both Speakers. They have exactly the same level. Just telling this to point the fact that it's not a common issue.
Also consider that some songs have an imbalanced Stereo spreading. Test your songs on other devices to be sure that's it's a speaker problem. And if the problem still persists, it may be a faulty device.
Bottom speaker
My bottom speaker start to crackling today. Seems like a hardware issue. No falls, no water. Good dammit, Sony. I'll stop to love you
You people obviously dont understand what stereo means.
First of all there is a mono option where both speakers act as one. You can use that if you want identical loudness and clearity but that will eliminate the stereo effect.
Because stereo works this way:
One of the speakers focuses on highs (the "ssss" sounds like the hats and high pitch tones) and the other speaker focuses more on lows and middles (which is more of people's voice, bass, etc). Thats why to get full stereo effect these aspects should exist. Thats why one speaker sounds old and crispy and voice is just way too high and the other seems to be clearer on human voices and some melodies.
But that must exist so you can notice the stereo effect.
Glad i can help
