Hey all,
unfortunately I can't post in the dev section yet, so I have to ask here...
I currently have an unrooted TF101 (B50) from Germany (DE). I originally used this one-click-solution to root my device (FW: DE 3.1, no CWM installed). Everything worked fine.
Later ASUS released the 3.2 update and I wanted to unroot my device and update it. So I used the unroot script and it seemed like everything worked fine. I did not revert to stock recovery when I was asked, due to the fact I had no CWM installed before.
After my device was unrooted I put the update on SD and was wondering why my TF didnt recognize it. Long story, short: In the settings I saw that my device now has the WW edition of the firmware. That's why it could not detect the DE update. So I thought, hm maybe the WW is working and indeed it was at least saying "Update available" when I inserted the SD. But after the reboot I just got an exclamation mark after 10 seconds.
I already tried many things, llike rerooting & unrooting with stock recovery to DE. I also tried other root / unroot / recover methods, nothing helped. I'm still stuck on WW 3.1 now. Google also didnt find any solution for DE.
The only thing I found, which might help me, is this thread: http://tabletroms.com/forums/transf...stock-3-2-recovery-roms-unbricking-tools.html
But it's only WW / US, no DE ...
Maybe someone here has an idea how I can bring back my normal stock DE firmware on my tab?
Thanks in advance

I searched the forum but couldn't find an answer. I have tried several times to update my TF to 3.2.1 but the update keeps failing.
I get a system update notification. The tablet shuts down. The little green android with the gears on his stomach appears with a progress bar under it. The progress bar gets about 1/3 of the way then an exclamation mark appears in a yellow triangle. The a few minutes later the tablet restarts and it says that the update failed.
I am currently on build number HTJ85B.WW_epad-8.6.5.9-20110816. My TF is unrooted.
Is this happening to anyone else? Anyone have any suggestions besides doing a factory reset then trying the update again? Thanks in advance for any help.
Was it rooted before?
Rooting itself doesn't break updates it's what you do whilst rooted that can, so unrooting isn't necessary. I'm having this issue again as I removed some Asus apps with Titanium Backup which I now can't get back (I did them when there was a bug in TB which didn't backup apps properly). The OTA update script checks the integrity of a bunch of apps and files, which if it fails will abort the update in the way you are seeing. Very annoying.

Yeah it was rooted. I just realized that immediately after I rooted it, I had made a CWM backup. I'm going to try to restore the backup and see if the update goes through. (fingers crossed)
Sounds like you're running a custom ROM

Nope, stock 3.2. The only thing that I flashed was a custom kernel.
The update still didn't work with my backup. Luckily the WW 3.2.1 update was posted in the development section, so I just re-rooted and flashed the update. Worked like a charm.
yeah, I think that your kernel will cause the update to fail since it updates some of the kernel modules.

Got the problem, too!
Now I use Revolver!
I flashed revolver, too. Works like a charm.

I got it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1281161
It's only a 3.2 to 3.2.1 update though, it's not a full ROM, so you have to already have 3.2 on your TF. Hope this helps!
i have the same problem too.
my TF101 was totally non rooted .
is there a download for this 3.2.1 update? so i can prehaps update my TF mannually ....
I didn't find one, because of that i flashed revolver.

I too have a problem with the update on my rotted tf.I got an unofficial update apk here but I still get an error message when trying to flash in CWM.I heard that this could be due to a modified system file, but I don`t remember having done such a thing thought...
Good luck.
This is the Stock 8.6.5.19 US or WW update repackaged for Clockwork mod.
This update DOES NOT:
* Root your device if it's not already rooted
* Install clockworkmod
* Install at all if you aren't rooted
* Install at all if you don't already have clockworkmod.
This update has:
* Clockworkmod support (It does not include CWM, but doesn't reflash the recovery partition either)
* Rooted (includes SuperUser.apk & su 3.0.0)
* Busybox (1.19.2)
This will not work unless you have:
1. clockworkmod
2. STOCK firmware (root is fine)
3. the US or WW firmware
4. firmware 8.6.5.18
If this update will not apply, take note of which assert stopped the process. You probably applied some sort of mod to your transformer.
CWM package for ASUS FOTA Update 8.6.5.19 US

Tested on my own tf101.
CWM package for ASUS FOTA Update 8.6.5.19 WW
http://bellybuttonporn.com/android/transformer/kwt-cwm-8.6.5.19-WW.zip
I have not tested this. Let me know if it works, brave soul!
Note that these updates require you to be on 8.6.5.18. If you didn't update to .18 because of the bugs, do that before trying this update.
Applied US version and it was just too darned easy. Usually I have to modify something but this worked first time.
Much thanks, -- Hashi
I'm running revolver, but want to go back to stock rooted and install this. How can I do this? Thanks,
worked
Somehow i lost root after installing this. Cmw is still installed and so is superuser but titanium backup wont work because it says it cannot get root.
Edit: i reinstalled cmw from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18789237&postcount=907 and now it works.
Worked great on my TF with WW.
Many thanks.

This will not work unless you have:
1. clockworkmod
----------Install ClockwordMod Recovery. If already installed skip to step 2
2. STOCK firmware (root is fine)
----------Install stock firmware with or without root. If already installed skip to step 3
3. the US or WW firmware
----------It must be the US or WW firmware. If not install correct firmware listed in step 4
4. firmware 8.6.5.18
---------This is the firmware version it must be. If not then install the correct firmware version.
I beg your forgiveness if this doesn't answer your question. I was just trying to be helpful.
This broke my WiFi. It goes to "Error" after trying to start. Flipping airplane mode on or off doesn't help.
EDIT: Fixed. I hadn't re-installed my OC kernel, so stuff was breaking.
Any ideas?

Worked without any problem on a rooted stock ROM WW model.
Worked for me on WW too, many thanks.
I can confirm that the WW update worked fine for me without any problems, thanks
everything works great except my bluetooth radio won't turn on and when I am docked I get no sound. I haven't tried a full wipe which would be the next step. I had to run a great deal of updates to get to this version so maybe that has something to do with it as well.

I second the wipe. I was initially running Prime and decided to go back to stock due to the numerous FC's I started to get starting apps after a few upgrades. My TF runs nice and smooth after flashing this, no problems with wifi or bluetooth and sound works as it should in my dock. I haven't really noticed any problems at all. And haven't really noticed much of a difference in speed or battery life between this and Prime.
don't suppose 8.6.6.19 WW is out as a flashable CWM zip ?
Hi,
Got my TF101 since Aug. 2011 with Stock 8.6.5.7. I never had problems with the OTA Updates. Always worked fine.
I never had CFW installed also never rooted it.
On April 30. I received the OTA notification for the 9.2.1.21 Update. I did try to update it 3 times but it always failed to update. Since then weren’t able to receive the update again.
I tried to hard reset it and clear the DMClient App data & cache but still no OTA Update.
So no I noticed on the ASUS-Devicetracker homepage in the Update List that it tried to update the WW and not the DE update.
List looks like:
2011-12-27 10:32:54 DE_epad-8.6.5.19-user to DE_epad-8.6.5.21-user Done
2012-02-25 04:59:22 DE_epad-8.6.5.21-user to DE_epad-9.2.1.11-user Done
2012-03-19 02:59:17 DE_epad-9.2.1.11-user to DE_epad-9.2.1.17-user Unknow
2012-03-19 02:59:25 DE_epad-9.2.1.11-user to DE_epad-9.2.1.17-user Done
2012-04-30 14:32:31 DE_epad-9.2.1.17-user to WW_epad-9.2.1.21-user Unknow
2012-04-30 14:32:51 DE_epad-9.2.1.17-user to WW_epad-9.2.1.21-user Fail
2012-04-30 16:35:08 DE_epad-9.2.1.17-user to WW_epad-9.2.1.21-user Fail
So something wrong with my TF or an error by the updateservers of Asus? Can I Update to 9.2.1.21?
Thanks!

You can try to manually update it. Download the correct firmware for your region from Asus website (WW. DE. US or whatever)
-Extract the zip file from inside
-Rename that zip file to EP101_SDUPDATE.zip (make sure it's not .zip.zip this happened when you hide known extension on Windows PC)
-Put the renamed file on the root of the micro sd card
-Boot into recovery by doing the following
Press and hold Vol down + Power button
When you see words at top left corner
Immediately push Vol Up within 5 seconds to get into recovery
Hopefully it will flash the firmware
on the DL page i only can find 9.2.1.21 in WW,CN,US,TW
DE only 9.2.1.17 (i'm currently on)
I'm still wondering why OTA tried to update to WW Version. Maybe they removed the DE 9.2.1.21 update because it was currupted ? And devicetracker Hompage shows just wrong Informations

Firmware for different region sometimes get release at different date.
hey,
seems ASUS replaced the DE package with the WW package. Since a friend of my did also get the WW OTA instead of the DE.
so i tried to manually update it(baseballfanz guide) with the WW package and it worked. So far now 8h running no battery drain no sleep of death
Maybe someone else with an DE SKU could confirm that he received the WW Package.
Hi, after looking on google and the xda forum I didn´t find a similar question to my problem.
I am on 4.4.4, currently rooted and bootloader unlocked, and I am receiving the OTA update. The first time I tried to update, I got an error because I was on a custom recovery; installed stock recovery and tried again (downloading again OTA). This second time the progress bar started moving and suddenly the phone rebooted to normal and said that something happened and the phone was not updated.
My question is: do I need to be completely stock, even withouht root, to update? I mean, I can´t find a post that says the requirement to update to Lollipop in specific (non english speaker here, sorry).
Hi there! I'm from Brasil. Owner of a Moto G music edition XT1033. I had the same problem with my phone here. Except that I did not use any custom recovery. I think that when I rooted my phone, the proccess I followed has changed the recovery in some way. Even after removing the root access by the option on SuperSU I was unable to install the OTA. I think that if you flash only the recovery of an stock ROM, you might receive the update via OTA. But the solution I used was to flash the entire stock 4.4.4 ROM. After the flashing process I received the OTA again and using 5.0.2 since then... And loving It!
I hope this reply helps you in any way!
Good luck!
I was able to install the first of the two updates earlier for the 5.1.1 update on my Verizon Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. The second downloads, prompts for install, reboots and begins installing but errors out and reboots back into the OS home screen. The Verizon software update manager shows Failed software update error code 402. I have factory reset my tablet a couple of times and still same issue. I do not have my tablet rooted and no apps disabled.
I downloaded the latest available Samsung firmware md5 file, version VZW-P905VVRUANK1-20141205133604 and tried flashing using Odin 3.07 while in download mode. It starts and after a few seconds, Odin fails and on the tablet screen, I get the error, SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1. I have re-downloaded the firmware along with older versions and still same issue.
I was reading somewhere that my tablet could be "soft bricked" and that is why it will not install the second part of the OTA. As for the Odin/download mode error, I had read that the firmware version I am trying to flash in Odin has an older version of bootloader than my current and Samsung does not let you downgrade the bootloader. I may be wrong on both accounts, which is why I am seeing if anyone else has had this same issue or have any advice on what I can try.
Thanks in advance!
Same here. I unforze all the apps unintstalled SU and factory reset still no dice. VZW repair assistant wont work or smart switch. RA says device firmware not supported and smart switch says im up to date. The first part of the update installed no problem.

I had the exact same issues. Here's what I did with my 4.4.2 Rooted NP. I wiped it completely from within the device, then connected it and to the VZW software and let it do a "Repair". After that, my tablet also said that it was up to date, still on 4.4.2. I let it sit overnight and tried downloading the software update the next morning from the tablet, and it took both of them. My NP is rocking 5.1.1. now, much faster. No root but that's alright for now. By running the repair assistant from VZW, it also got rid of the Unlocked Symbol, which may have prevented the upgrade in the first place.

I was able to get mine to update using ODIN and the firmware file from sammoble. Factory reset on the tablet, factory reset in recovery and finally ODIN worked.
I was having the same problems as the OP listed. Once I decided to live without root and I would be okay with wiping the tablet, I performed exactly what dansto82 said he did and I'm now on 5.1.1.
Now hoping someone comes up with a way to root.
Hey, I have the p905v and it is running 4.4.4, I rooted it with towelroot and it was completely fine. I then tried putting twrp recovery on it the wrong way through flashify and now I don't have a recovery mode and can't update it to 5.1.1. Other than that the tablet runs perfectly fine. Is there a way I can fix it?
