[Q] Running Slow....

I have had Hienz 57 running for about a month now and it seems to be running really slow. Even while doing the smallest things like typing it will be a couple letters behind. Anyone have any ideas. I have cleaned all the app caches and deleted what I don't use any more but still slow.

Rebooting usually fixes this for me

That sometimes works but I was kinda looking for a more permenent solution. Would wiping the cache or dalvik possibly help?

you got voodoo enabled. what are your settings like...maybe you just need to re-odin then reflash the ROM and stuff...sometimes phones just need a fresh start

^Agreed. I can't count the times if done that. Mostly after I have went through five or so kernels but none the less it can't hurt and I haven't done it yet and regretted it.

I used the ext4 (voodoo) version and it worked great. I know they mean nothing, but I was getting 1500-1600 Quadrant scores before I ran it (still with voodoo), and I'm getting 1700-1800 now.

edit: This does wipe everything, so run your backups beforehand if you decide to try it.

Yes I have voodoo enabled. I have not changed any voltage settings yet. When you say to re-odin are you saying to flash back to stock ec10 and then reflash the hienz 57? Still learning the terminology. I did go from the voodoo kernel to hienz without a fresh start. I also didn't wipe the data but for the first few weeks it ran awesome. I have also had a few half reboots. Like it would go to the android logo but not all the way to the samsung logo

Thinking of trying this but did you have the cwm 3 or just the 2.5.x? Also can I just flash the H57 zip and be back up and working?

Ran the utility and worked great. Have more memory too so the tons have been staying behind a little. Phone is much smoother and faster.

Normally i have zero issues with lag, however as of late I've had some slight issues with lag as well, even with lagfix enabled - to remedy it I simply enabled the 1120 overclock step and it's been fast ever since (and not too bad on the battery)

I just happened to be browsing the Sd card since I just dl the newest H57 and noticed that after formatting I dont have the android secure folder. Is this a problem or will it create a new one?

Hey guys... I installed Dsexton rom: [rom] ICBINB KJ6 add on for airflips
I have some issues coming from text messages failing to send, EMAIL app gives me issues when sending emails via Swype keyboard.
Yahoo email wont send and stays stuck on Outgoing.
Im growing tired of it.... what rom does anyone recommend?

Valhalla or octane.

I'm running the latest KJ6 leak, drhonk's KI1 kernel (with root, voodoo, cwm), with dsexton's Adrenaline Shot. I'm sure you'll get different answers from people, though.
Before you flashed, did you do a factory data reset, wipe caches, etc? I've flashed ROMs & had problems that were solved by doing the reset/cache wipes.

i factory reset on the first rom, wiped cache and dalvik even battery.
Even repair permissions.
on updates i clear cace and dalvik....and it doesnt repair any issues.
I dont know if im doing something wrong..... I dont have access to a PC anymore to OdIn since im on a iMac.
I just grew frustrated and dont know what to do

I hear ya. I wish I had better advice. Exodian pointed out Valhalla and Octane. I never tried Valhalla but I had issues with Octane & the lock screen. Your mileage may vary, though

Am I doing anything incorrectly?
What would u recommend? I factory reset and reinstall the rom?
and once their are updates what do I do

I've only installed Octane via CWM. Past that, I've never installed a ROM that way. I'd follow Exodian's advice and give either Octane or Valhalla a shot. Both posts for the ROMs should have the proper method of installation.

I don't have a preference of the two. I never tried Valhalla. I tried Octane for about a day until I realized I had issues with the lock screen not working all of the time.
From what I've read a lot of people enjoy both. My suggestion would be to try one, see how well you like it, try the other, test it, see which suits you better

go with Valhalla, i tried them all, but Valhalla seems best for now. ICBINB was great but get laggy after a few days and needed reboot. Later ICBINB had issues here and there.
Valhalla with some build.prop and init.d tweaks runs great for me.
for init.d tweaks, find the "S98tweaks" file and change the freemem value. the last 3 is a little low as set and can cause low mem issues.
this is what i use

Newest ROMs

I don't know if I am doing something wrong, or if I'm skipping a step. In the past two weeks, I have tried Catyrom, Numas, Fusion XII, Dlev Rom, and have had problems with bootlooping, won't boot at all, and needing 3 or more tries with the 3 button technique to get to recovery. I am not new to flashing at all, and I am not touting any rom over another. Just wondering if anyone else has had these issues. The rom I keep goingback to has had no issues at all. I like the way it runs, but am itching to flash new stuff.
Could it be the Core A2 kernel? The UCKK4 modem?

I don't see how you would bootloop with catyrom or numbas because this are native infuse roms ...not ports llike the others....are you wiping data, cache, and dalvik cache?

When on the Catyrom, I had something happen that I've never seen. everything was running well, until I tried to use "Display/ Fonts/" to change system fonts. Then it would freeze up, go to a black screen, with an Android in the top left corner and a message in yellow "kernel error".
The other roms seem to have a problem with the GB Core A2 kernel.
And yes, I always do a complete wipe of data, cache and dalvik!
I am really confused, but will keep trying. Funny thing, every time I go back to Sensation 1.1 with UCKK4 and Core A2, it runs beautiful.

Next time I flash, I may try the following, in this order: wipe data, then cache, THEN go to mounts/storage and format system, then clear DALVIK Cache.
It worked on DoctorZ rom, it may do the trick for these others!

Not sure if you knew but this was a documented bug in Caty. Last I checked no one had found a reason or fix yet
Edit: my apologies dman, perhaps I am remembering what I read incorrectly. sorry!

no, ive been trying to flash valhalla black ed. and its been acting weird, i noticed when i wipe delvik cash it says E: no volume path (sd ext) or something similar, so i thought maybe it was because i got a new sd card and its not partitioned either

I don't think you need to worry about the E:unknown volume for path [sd-ext]. There are actually a bunch of threads regarding it. As far as your ROM acting funny -- try the standard:
Wipe Cache Partition
Wipe (yes it is wiped even with the error)
Fix Permissions
Reboot and let phone sit 10 mins to rebuild caches.
If that doesn't work....
Factory wipe and reflash ROM.

Well ive tryed all that and more, the last rom didnt have any of these problems. Now i noticed the phone getting hot so i installed setcpu, and the cpu isnt scaling, it just sits at 1000mhz , if i set max at 200mhz the phone cools off and charges much faster. I think its a kernel issue, why it is happening to some and not others i dont know. Do you know of any good kernels i could try? One that O/C's?

What ROM are you on? If you are on Valhalla Black - people are OCing with that. Sometimes you need to start fresh man. Flash to complete KJ6 stock, factory reset, wipe all caches and start over. Sometimes even reflash stock twice to make sure you get all the gremlins off the phone.
I am on Valhalla Black - rc3.1 - and I have not had a SINGLE issue. A lot of people haven't had any issues. But I flashed from stock... hmmmm.
Maybe try it. Otherwise I defer to somebody else to help you. Consider hitting thanks!

So just flash the stock kj6 rooted rom and then VB? Ill try that but if that dont work then i dunno cus i dont have a computer, thanks for tryin though, you still helped

Not me... I don't feel like I need it. The ROM is flawless as far as I am concerned. But I have read posts from others saying they have overclocked.

If you want to overclock just use tegrak paid. I have OC'd on this and it works fine. No heat issues other than what you would expect.

Hmm.. downloaded the app and says 1ghz is the highest i can go

No. Its not that. It does the same thing with setcpu

Ok, i wiped everything and reflashed. Let it sit. I checked to see if the phone was idleing, it was i rebooted, and after every step i checked if it was idleing and once i signed into google and opened the market, phone idle under battery usage went away and now its not idleing. Dunno what this means but im just going back to the last build till this is figured out, thanks for all the help though.

Switching kernals??

I'm kinda new at this but I switched my rom and kernal to lotherius 2.3.4 and was wondering if I need to switch my kernal back to stock or keep it... I want to switch to eaglesblood and don't wanna brick my phone once again (have one being used as a paper weight right now)

Every ROM should have a kernel cooked into it (99% of the time). Your phone will not boot if it lacks a kernel. When you flash a new ROM ensure you factory reset, wipe cache, and format system before flashing the new ROM. The only time you need to worry about flashing a kernel on a ROM is if you would like to change it, or in the rare case, if it lacks one.

No worries man, I know what it's like to be unsure and its irritating. Just make sure to backup any apps you have, because wiping obviously will return the phone back to "stock" thus lacking apps and current system settings (alarm ect.)
Edit: I recommend titanium backup for backing up and restoring apps.

Cool one more question if u have the time. I went to install the new Tom and clockworkmod tells me it can't mount system I looked around on the fourms and could find a solid solution.?

Are you using ROM Manager? If so, that may be why... it has been buggy for a while it seems, but I always flash manually so I wouldn't know where it's at now. Boot into recovery by holding power and volume down (when the phone is off) and let go when the LG logo changes to another logo. From there do the three wipes (factory reset, cache, and format system) then flash ROM and reboot. (Format system is under mounts on the main screen)
