I saw this today while browsing through the forums and wow do I want this! I installed it and it booted up, and started to run. It looked so amazing! But out of nowhere it went into an endless boot loop. So sad! I'm running uncommon sense V1.1. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Works on Lou's R-EVO-lution (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=799679) rom as well. I used the R-EVO-lution rom and mounted the theme, and it ran fine and is actually quite beautiful, but it ends up messing up the internal mounting, which is a bummer.
I don't think it's possible to load the way it is. A dev would have to port it (I'm guessing) or you'd have to switch roms.
Crap. Thank you for the insight. If there's any dev that would want to try to port this to uncommon, that would be sweet...

This is an EVO Theme for EVO Rom's that is why you are having an issue. The framework-res, com.htc.resources, rosie, vending apk's are different than on the DINC. You would have to have someone port it over to the DINC to get it to work correctly.
***Edit*** So apprently the only DINC ROM that it will work on is FrankenRom http://adrynalyne.us/
It works on hey its lou new rom as well

What little tool?
There is a tool on AndroidForums made by a guy called Androizd that ports and converts everything over. He is a really good DEV but had some problems with some people in the ERIS sectino so he no longer post on XDA, If you want to try and port themes I know it worked really well on my old ERIS.
Actually I got it here at XDA. I know what tool your talking about with the Eris, I used to own one.
What tool are you referring to? Do you have a link?
I will see if I can find the original thread so I can give the original creator credit. If not I will post it here for download.

Nope non that I have seen. I hacked together a blue one but I only added the .png files. I did no XML edits.

So I used it and it works well. Only issue is...if the ROM does not use the .9.png files and the Theme does then you are out of luck. In this intance the Ucommon ROM does not use .9.png files and this theme does so the theme will not work with Uncommon ROM. SkyRaider does not use .9.png files either.

Its easy but time consuming to convert them to .9 style just Google it. If you have Android SDK installed and Eclipse you can do it.

Hi, all. I wanted to create my own boot animation so I've been tinkering around with it and wanted to post to get some feedback. It's nothing fancy, and I've only tested on Serendipity VII, but if you'd like to give it a go I've included the zip file.
I've attached a preview as well (can't post links yet). It's not quite as slow as the gif file, but that was the easiest way for me to get a preview of it.
Any and all feedback is appreciated. Like I said, I made this for myself, but wanted to share with this awesome community.
Installation Instructions:
1. Place bootanimation.zip on your sdcard
2. Using a root explorer, mount your system as r/w
3. Move or copy bootanimation.zip to system/media (rename to sanim.zip if on a non-Hellraiser ROM)
4. Reboot
*I would suggest making a backup of your current bootanimation.zip file in case this does not work with your current ROM
Excuse my ignorance but how do you install this animation? CWM? Copy/Paste? How do you enable it? I am running Infused 2.1.0 and have the stock animation while booting and would love to use this one.

Both ways are possible and I see the OP does not state the way.
It won't hurt to try flashing with cwm.... If it's not cwm compatible it just won't work....
And if it does not work then just push it to your system using a root explorer....

Your kernel needs to support alternate bootanimations and if rooted make the system/media dir. Read/Write accessible then you can copy and paste the zip to that dir. Now depending on the kernel you may need to rename the file to something like sanim.zip like with the latest infusion 1.1 kernel.
Apologies for not posting installation instructions. Updating OP with the method I used.
Nice. I really like it. Could you make one that just says INFUSE? Keep up the good work.

I followed this tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1096068
There's also a tool to help you make them here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17011722
I've only been able to get the tool to work if I have part0 and part1 folders (the tutorial explains those). You can unzip the file I posted to get an idea of what to make as well. I did this with the original boot animation on my ROM.

*****NOT A CWM FLASHABLE ZIP*******
I tried to make a rom based off ACS-ICS v2, because my GPS was working.
However something in the rom still is off. I had no GPS. My Nandroid backup however restored my GPS.
So here is my first attempt at a Rom/Nandroid:
Based of of ACS-ICS - marcusant
-Official 2.3.5
-No CiQ (k0nane)
-Rooted
-EXT4
-IAP's EI22 Kernel* Basic OC/UV to 1200* (earthbound[iap] )
-DeOdexed (xBTx)
-Juwe RAM Tweak (Juwe11)
-3G TurboCharger (zeppelinrox)
I added:
•SGS4G Adrenaline Shot (Dsexton702)
•ASOP Sytle Lock Screen (ICS Themed to match ACS ICS Rom)
•ACS ICS Launcher 4.0
•LogProvider Fix
•AppWidget Picker
My appoligies to anyone I forgot.
If this works to get the GPS going for some,
Hopefully we can use it to figure out why ACS ICS kills the GPS.
Thanks bodi524

Correct me if i'm wrong but, I expect it's a Nandroid backup that may need to be extract into your CWM backup file and you just have to do a restore of it in CWM. I'd be sure to make a nandroid of your current rom before applying any other rom.
Working great for me no issues...thank you

I know this is a clockworkmod backup. All I'm saying is wtf. He could've at least made a cwm flashable. This took no skill AT ALL. This doesn't deserve its own thread. Maybe in off topic, or the ics thread. But no.

Semantics. It's this attitude that sends new users, that could be of benefit in the future, running away from development.
In the time it took you to chastise this guy, you could have just as easily pointed him to the right place to do as you suggested.
Who are you to judge what skill is, who are you and what have you ever contributed?

Geez. You didn't have to change the title to delete. I kinda fell bad that everybody was bashing on you now. I am perfectly fine with you branching off and starting your own rom... I have nothing against it because you gave proper credit. I didn't mean to sound mean or anything like that... All work should be shared and different people like different things. Anyways, I also suggest that you learn how to extract a nandroid or create a rom without one.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Making a cwm flashable is easy. There are many tutorials/how-tos out there. I could've made a number of "roms," but everytime I wanted to put something out I always realized that it wasn't development. I dont remember where I heard this but someone said that development isn't deleting apk's theming and calling it a rom.

The first rom I posted was an early branch off of another popular rom. Despite clarifying my intentions, stating my immaturity, and giving all due credit, a mod deleted my thread without warning. Rather annoying, since the toughest part of doing all this was assembling a clear and informative thread.
I have since moved the majority of my information and all my download links to a separate site, courtesy of another less whiny forum.
While I cannot condone if someone were to rip off an entire rom and claim the work to be all their own, I also cannot condemn an effort by someone attempting to learn and share.
Android is, after all, open source.
Unfortunately, XDA is a tough crowd. You'll want to be a little more prepared before you launch a Rom thread if you're not ready for the backlash.

Don't get discouraged and keep up the good work!!!!! You are doing a great job.
I, for one, thank you for your effort. Don't let the self-rightous spoiled children on this site get you down, keep trying to get better and learn.
I have to sell my computer because I'm moving. I won't be able to make these for a while. They're very easy to do on your own though.
First, download this image and don't change its name.
This has probably been described a thousand times here, but I'm posting instructions for newcomers.
Steps:
1 - Extract ROM of your choice
2 - Navigate to /system/framework
3 - Using 7zip, open (don't extract) framework-res.apk
4 - Navigate to /res/drawable-nodpi/
5 - Drag background_holo_dark.png into the folder. It will replace the original
6 - Close 7zip window
7 - Using 7zip, open (don't extract) the original ROM download .zip
8 - Navigate to /system/framework
9 - Drag the edited framework-res.apk into that folder. It will replace the original
10 - Flash ROM
Using these instructions, you can take any .zip package made for Clockworkmod if you want to flash it after you install the ROM. Just delete folders except for meta-inf and drag a folder with the following directory structure into the .zip package: system/framework/framework-res.apk
That's it.
FLASH IN CLOCKWORKMOD -- ALWAYS BACK UP FIRST!!!!!!!!
Credit to endursa for making the dithered background image
I took endursa's image and put it into a flashable zip for Clockworkmod. It worked fine on my device. YMMV
No more gross banding on the uninstall screen and wherever that background exists in the UI.
I know there was already a zip for this mod by KamikaZeeFu, but it didn't work on my stock (rooted, unlocked) AT&T One X because KamikaZeeFu built it for VillainTheme, so it didn't flash.
UPDATE: I'll add links for other ROMs, because if you flash one of these on a custom ROM it will likely screw things up.
This overwrites anything you have might have modified in framework-res.apk

No problem.
And I totally agree. First of all, this should have been the image used in the stock build. Second, everyone who makes a custom ROM should consider including this image. Third, this image is used so often on the phone that it almost ruined the expericne for me before I found the original thread with that image in it. It's really easy to put this into any ROM, but if anyone is scared to mess with it, or just doesn't feel like it, let me know and I'll make more. I'll continue to make them until ROM cooks and developers start putting it in their ROMs.
Otherwise, there are tutorials for making/modifying your own flashable zips, but I can post a short tutorial later for any new people here. My daughter is using my computer to watch a movie right now.
I just finished a semester of learning C++. I'm going to try to learn Java over the summer to get a head start before next semester. Maybe I'll finally be able to contribute more in the near future. I've been saying that for almost two years... but I'm working on it.

Thanks for this fix!
After further use this mod seems to break CleanROM 2.1 reboot menu. Not sure about anything else.
I also am not sure if it has anything to do with CleanRom being deodexed.
I wanted to ask how I could go about taking a rom.zip (pulled from an RUU) and turn it into a stock rooted rom. The phone flashing would be rooted, of course
And if possible, for that process, is it generic? As in, would it work for any phone/stock rom? Or only shift?

Good luck with that, it seems like you are doing way too much work for what you are trying to achieve (which I am still a little confused on). Essentially you are trying to port a "stock" ROM from another device, and then rooting it... why go thru all the trouble? That sounds like a headache for no reason. What is the device you are taking the RUU from? Why not just port a rooted stock ROM? Like RemICS for example is basically the stock ROM for the SGS3.

Wait what...noooo thats not what I mean lol
What I'm asking is that lets say I have stock rom.zip for some device, how do I make a rooted version of that rom.zip (no porting, no other mods)
All I want to do is basically be able to reset everything to stock using that rom.zip, but without losing root on the device I'm flashing to
So like this:
Device N's rom.zip > rooted rom.zip for device N > flash rooted rom.zip to device N

You want to pull the stock Rom out of an RUU, and use it sort of as a wipe Rom? Does that about sound right ?

If all you wanna do is what I did with the latest ota. Download the RUU.exe and open it to its first screen but don't go forward. Then open a the start menu and go to run. Once at the run box type %temp% and hit enter, then find the location of ROM.zip and move it out to the Desktop and close the RUU.exe. now inside the ROM.zip are a few images the RUU uses to flash, so now your gonna wanna take the boot.img and system.img and place them in dsixda kitchens original update folder, then open the dsixda kitchen in cmd and setup a working folder from a ROM and choose the boot.img and system.img. once that's done use the options to add root and busyboox, maybe data/app if you want and that's your rooted stock ota zip

Too good
I knew I had to use dsixda's kitchen because I saw someone mention that in a post but they didn't specify...
But awesome, thanks strapped

Not a problem, anything else I'm floating around somewhere most of the time and get email notifications.

Hey guys, I just asked a question to the EVO folks the I remembered this thread is where I got the idea. What I've done is what Strapped said and took the ROM from the ruu for the EVO and ran it through dsixda's kitchen. It's been running great on my EVO 4g but this morning I had some time and thought I would do some themeing and found there is no systemUI.apk? I even went back to the kitchen and rechecked what I had done earlier but there just isn't one that I can find. Has anyone heard of this before? I would think that with that missing it shouldn't be working at all right?
That doesn't sound right . Are you sure your seeing all the files? I had this happen once, I did not have my settings correct on the Laptop.

Yea I'm sure. Could it be hidden somehow? Maybe in some odd folder... No one at the EVO is taking me seriously assuming I'm asking a noon like question. :-/
Edit: just for fun, I flashed a modded systemUI last night for this and its in there but nothing has changed. It's the weirdest thing I've come across Android wise.
EDIT2: is it possible the file got mixed in with something else when I deodexed it?
Edit3: I just went through the process again (I'm off work until tomorrow) and there is still no systemUI.apk? What settings on the laptop were you refering to? I can see that file in other ROMs. This is just odd...
Edit4: Ive been looking into this further and I am finding the icons from the systemUI mixed in both the system/framework/framework-res.apk and system/framework/com.htc.rescources.apk so I'm guessing somehow I mixed things together...
That is some creepy stuff
As in how it somehow got chucked in a blender with the framework files

I can't figure it out. I'd upload it for folks to look at but its for the EVO 4g and no one there is interested.

Glad you got it sorted. Had way to much on the plate today. Sorry I couldn't get back to you. Had a messed up day.

Yes it is. Quite a few Newbs . Hopefully some will step up and start doing for the community. As happened in the Shift community .

It's understandable, anymore it is a relatively cheap device to obtain for a starter into Android. I just wish people would read and search before posting... that should be a rule. And this guy (me) should be getting an OG soon.

Nice . Glad to hear that. As for the reading thing. It is oh so true . But unfortunately most do it later, than sooner.
