Error 131 Customer ID on NON-branded cha-cha - HTC ChaCha

I bought Cha Cha from a local store, no contract with it - just the phone. And now when i try to upgrade it (it's S-ON v. 1.18) with this ROM RUU_Chacha_HTC_Europe_1.33.401.1 and it says ERROR 131 - CUSTOMER ID ERROR.
Can you please advice?
Thank you!

OK, managed to flash it. But I have to say that until now, the battery life is terrible. I made it with GoldCard (got it from here http://www.htc-developers.de/viewtopic.php?f=364&t=8665#p101937). The thing you should do is create a gold card using the readme in the package, and then try again with the rom chosen.
I will investigate the battery life in the next few days but it looks like IT'S GETTING WORSE!!

You tried juice defender or green power ?
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using Tapatalk

I've installed juice defender, it helps but it turns off my 3g network. Maybe I'll have to reorganize my way of using the phone I'm also planning to buy 2430mah battery.

There is something wrong then. Try installing watchdog and see if there are any processes using a high percentage. It could be an app, and you might have a bad device. Try all your options first, there is more about this in the current battery thread here which is where this post really belongs.

Best battery? Battery life is all relative. Every single person will experience different battery life. The apps you have installed, the amount of time you spend on it and the time you spend on/in each app, distance from cell towers, distance from Wi-Fi sources, settings you have for every app and things like sync and what not.
There is no single variable that will ever help any of us find out what the best battery life is.
All the settings in the world won't help you achieve the 2 days I'm getting because I use mine differently that you, I have different apps on mine that you, I am at different distances from cell and Wi-Fi towers/antennas than you.
The best battery life is what you get out of yours.
right now watch dog says used 8% idle 59% apps 62

And it only has 512MB of RAM, no SD card expansion, built by Sammy (and that isn't a good thing). It's a step down. No HSPA+ support.
You have to understand that the Nexus S is a dev phone that is oddly being offered to the public. It's not really even meant to go head to head with phones like the MT4G and others. It's a pure developer phone.
But again, it's your choice.
you are right in a way but i feel that gingerbread has fixed the battery issue and we will have to wait for ever to get gingerbread on our mytouch. And whats up with the youtube app? it is still not fixed with the ota

Set setcpu to powersave mode and ther you go. Problem solved. Or try recalibrating you battery. Use phone till it dies completly then plug in charger without powering on delete your batt stats in recovery before u power on after charging your phone completly while its off. Phone battery recalibrated!

There are some threads in the development section. The true permroot thread has a guide to flash back to S-on and you can even flash back your original Hboot. I have done it before and it is not hard.
I don't know how long you have had your device but I would give it some time if you have only had it a few days. If you are about to run out of your remorse period then a exchange should be of concern. If you bought it from a retail store you can just go back in and get another one. If you bought it from the internet then you will have to call them and get them to send you a new one.
PS: I assume you are on the software 2.2.1 right?

Turning DS to S-off without xtc clip ?

do you guys think it will become possible ? im considering this marvelous phone, but it lacking androids greatest feature to mod it the way you want to kinda sucks. kinda = a lot.
btw htc bloatware = crap all the way, and sense aint so pretty either
lol go buy an iphone and suffer then.......Android is the best and is u put effort in u can find some1 close to you to s-off for a small fee like a 10ner
but yh shudnt be far off now they should have a exploit in a week or two
My Desire S arrived today. Been playing with it for a couple of hours now. Doesn't actually come with that much bloat. Plus with double the internal storage and extra RAM, even at stock it's much smoother and snappier than my old rooted and heavily optimised Desire. Very pleased with it. Wont be long until the unrEVOked team crack it, but I don't find myself missing root privileges too badly.
A bit scared by HTC Hub though. Was running the Desire S ported ROM on my Desire to see if I liked it. When I turned my new phone on today, it somehow knew my wireless router key and jumped straight on my network, then proceeded to download and install all the apps I had on the ported ROM!
Not sure I like the idea of HTC being able to get my wireless network key off my phone.
Edit: Need to change my sig!

It's not really bloated but i do want to remove things like Twitter, Peep, Plurk & even Facebook since i don't use it. I actually use the Friend Stream & other HTC widgets since i'm just an Android HTC virgin.
I have said YES to the poll but I don't believe that this will happen within weeks.
I believe that with forthcoming release of the HTC sensation (dual core) which I assume will be locked down in the same way, more developers will start working on cracking the problem and therefore an answer might be found.
But I don't believe that it will happen for a months yet (happy to be proved wrong)....which is why I'm finding a XTC clip to use.
Yeah probably right. Two of my friends are about to get the Desire S. When they have, I'll try seeing if they want to go £33 in each to buy an xtc clip.
Then I'll pimp it out at £10 per S-off until it's paid for itself.

[Q] Desire S Market Suicide Problem

Hey folks,
I am experiencing big trouble with my phone. When I was updating apps over the market, my phone froze and i had to remove the battery. Since then, my desire s is stuck at the htc logo. i can start the bootloader but selecting "factory reset" causes the bootloader to freeze.
my phone is S-off with alpharevX and rooted, so i think htc won't accept it. i was using virtuous unity 1.27 .
installing a new ruu doens't function also, its stuck when ruu says "restarting bootloader" .
i don't know what to do, it would be great if someone could help me!
Thanks a lot!

Search for eMMC chip. Sounds like another case. There are several threads with things to try, but if hboot ain't playing ball then sounds like its worth attempting a warranty repair.
Of course, forget to mention you rooted. There is a chance they won't test for it. Else it'll be a repair bill.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Very sorry to hear that brother.
Sounds like a dead eMMC to me...
Didnt you read about battery pulling on this forum? Its spread across everyone's signatures for God's sake! I know there's no point stressing on this now but this may serve as a warning to others and help them...
As for Morial, i'd suggest you simply take your device to HTC and tell them you were updating all apps from the market, (DO NOT EVEN TALK ABOUT ROMs, BOOTLOADER, RECOVERY, etc) and it froze, so you had to do a battery pull and now it won't start.
HTC knows this is an acknowledged scenario even on s-on phones and usually just replaces the handset or the eMMC depending on availability, without asking questions. Just go to them like they owe you, not the other way around!!
Again, do not even speak about modding, flashing etc. Just pretend you have the I.Q. of an iPhone owner. That should do the trick.
P.S. iPhone owners, no offence intended.
^^
i brought the desire s today to a local electronic retailer who will send the item to htc. hope they don't recognize that its rooted.

I had a similar issue myself recently here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257772
Hopefully they will repair it without checking it properly like I suspect they did with me. I pulled my battery out without knowing the eMMC problem too.
When I sent my phone back to HTC they told me that the only way it wouldn't be covered under warranty was if it had been water damaged.
Good luck
bad news

[Q] death during apps updates

During updating a lot of apps in same time Desire S was stuck and in next few seconds screen became black. It has no response. I can't turn it on. I tried to plug to wall charge - nothing, even no green/red LED blinking.
DS was sent to worldwide HTC by supplier for warranty repair. The answer that I got today is : bootloader file is absent, its avoid warranty case, because only one possible explanation for this - not allowed attempt to update firmware.
Have I any chance to bring my DS to life ?
Thanks in advance.
Have you modified the phone software yourself in any way (S-OFF or rooted?)
Tell us more about how you bought it. For example, did it come as part of a call contract package or did you buy it unlocked outright?
- Steve
No, I didn't modify the phone in any way. Phone was purchased in cellphone shop, unlocked and without call contract package.
Supplier propose me to take Motorola Atrix 4G or HTC Sensation XE in addition of USD 70 (50 euro) or USD 150 (110 euro), respectively.

Ah, OK.
It seems that you would be fully justified in pressing for a repair or replacement.
Had you been here in the UK, I would have suggested that you wrote to the supplier politely explaining that unless they filfilled their obligations under a valid warranty claim, you'd take them kicking and screaming through our "small claims court" procedure. This invariably has the desired effect.
Not sure what options you might have in your country, but in any case if you chose to push the warranty claim, I'd suggest that it's usually most effective put stuff clearly (yet firmly) in writing.
"Avoid warranty" answer was received from worldwide HTC not supplier. Supplier agree to replace the phone but DS is not in stock so he offer to me Atrix or upgrade to Sensation.
But I really like my DS and before I'll take something else I want to know is there any chance to bring back to life DS.

OK, gotcha. Could be worse I guess.
I'm not an expert on boot issues but your DS sounds a bit doomed
Anyone else ?
Anyway, hope you resolve it to your satisfaction!
As I've read here on the forums, simultaneously updating apps from market on a Desire S with faulty EMC chip result in bricked phone. This SHOULD be covered by warranty. Newer market versions don't even update apps simultaneously but take them one at a time from a queue.
You might try the solutions ofered in some topics here but as you described the issue, looks like your Desire is bricked already.

flashed with s-on
I am very new to Android, having been converted from iOS. I had extensive experience with jailbreaking and all that.. flashing Windows Mobile with my HTC TyTn as well.
After having my One for almost 3 months I decided to root it and explore other ROMs. Rooting wasn't an issue and I flashed MaxiumusHD 14 which was replaced within 2 weeks with version 20. Everything went well and I've got battery life that certainly exceeds, by a long shot, versus stock battery consumption rate. (Juice Defender and Profile Scheduler definitely help there too). Original stock ROM consumed a lot of power with the HTCCheckIn service. Noticed that here in Brazil I believe my battery life is worse than when I purchased the phone in Canada, I believe it's due to poor service coverage areas (weak data signals, in particular).
As I learn more, I realize that I don't believe that any of the steps I performed to root and install Clockwork involved making S-OFF active. My bootloader shows S-ON. ROM works fine and I didn't get any errors in flashing. How is that possible?
Am I missing something obvious here?
Should I do moonshine S-OFF and flash again?
I've frozen the updater using Titanium Backup (purchased that, it's great) so that I don't keep getting pestered to update to Maximus 21. I just flashed 20! (and I see no issues and nothing in the change log seems to be a huge selling point).
Thanks for the assistance with this newbie.
