I have a 1 inch square patch of dust under my screen near the ear piece. I call AT&T's warranty service center and was told that this would not be covered and that it was do to damage. WHAT?
My phone does have some nicks on it yes, but how can they say that I somehow damaged the phone by getting dirt under the screen? I told her that was ridiculous.
Now I'm terrified that if the phone has a hardware malfunction that they will tell me its my fault and they won't cover it. "Were sorry sir, its your fault the power button no longer works. You damaged it".
What kind of crap is this? I can't even see a portion of my screen in sun light.

Please use the OT thread for posts like these. no need for a new thread. If your phone as any damage at all ATT can and has refused to warrenty it.

I've tried to clean the dust that was under the screen and after i reassembled it, the touch screen was not working properly (doesn't recognize touch on some spots, recognizes 2 touches instead of 1 on some spots).
Does it mean the digitizer needs to be replaced or is it something else?
If you removed the digitizer to clean the dust, the most likely fault is that you did not clip the ribbon back on properly, Either that or its become damaged...
The only issue that comes with touch lag, is when the digitizer has been replaced, And theres a thread in the accessory part that explains about that.
If you suffered dust under the screen, you should have sent it for repair.. now that you have took the phone apart, your warranty will now be void.
you may as well take it apart again and double check everything is in the correct place, and nothing is damaged

I have already checked that everything is in place. And there is not something like a crack on it, so i can be sure if its damaged or not
i dont mean damaged digitizer, I mean the ribbon what connects the digitizer to the mother board.. They are very flimsy, I ripped mine in half on my galaxy spica, just by trying to clip it in.
did you remove the void sticker on the back when taking it apart ?

I dont have warranty, not to mention that it's already voided
Also, i haven't pulled the tethers of the digitizer.
Propably, i'll sent it for service, because i want to sell in a month
you should have warranty. It will come with 12 months manufacturer warranty.. But if the void sticker is removed, they wont fix it..
i learned the hard way
now i have a broken sensation that is useless and cant sell it to anyone

They'll fix it. I'll just have to pay it through the nose
If you want a new void sticker there is a guy on eBay that sells them just search for it

Also check your grounding pin connection with the backplate/Battery door.
Has anybody ever had a unusual problem with the power button on the TF700 in that it doesn't work properly any more?
Basically, I was carrying my TF700 in its protective case yesterday in a bag when I suddenly slipped on a drink some moron left on the floor in a shopping arcade and fell on my back while dropping my bag.
Ever since then, every time I try to press the button to turn the screen black without switching it off, it ends up switching off the device instead!
Out of curiosity, if I have to send it back under warranty, would it be covered for accidental damage or would I have to get it repaired under my student insurance which does cover accidental damage?

If there isn't any external damage most likely they will repair it IF you don't tell them you dropped it. Otherwise, they don't cover accidental damage.
So I take it that it definitely can't be fixed by regular means by its owner?

Possibly, but you would likely have to open it, which if you damage anything while opening it you will be SOL on the warranty. As a rule I never recommend anyone to pop open a device, but if your capable, you would probably be fine.
i'd recommend let them fix it under warranty,
not being honest 1 time won't make you a bad person,
also just fixing a power button won't hurt the company
Hey, when i receive and accept a call, my screen immediately turns off. Like it should when i put my ear up to it. But during the call i cant do anything to get the screen to turn on. After the call i have to press the lock button and unlock it again to get it on.
1) bootloader unlocked
2) custom kernel?
3) stock ROM?
4) rooted?
6) What version of the OS are you on? MM 6.0.1 / .511
7) This is recent, tried with 2 different roms so it isnt rom reliant i guess.
8) When in service menu and testing the light sensor it responds on my hand covering the sensor so i don't think its faulty.

Mostly, screen protector cause that. Second sensors might be broken. Software is the last thing (if comes with stock)..
Go to *#*#7378423#*#* service test and go to proximity sensor, if it stays "ON" something is wrong with the proximity sensor, if you are absolutely 100% sure nothing is blocking your sensor, have you ever changed your display assembly? try pressing down around the top right of screen with a little force, both front and back if it switched to "OFF" when you press your screen there's a slight gap between your motherboard and front glass.

Holy this is it. I had to get my front glass replaced because it was shattered, when i press the screen it turns off, when i block the sensor it goes back to on again until i press on the screen. Also my vibrator motor seems to not function properly since, it sometimes doesnt vibrate at all, and sometimes with very little feedback. Could this also be a result of the replacement?

It could be the glue is not settling in correctly and adds very little gap than original one, did you replace the screen yourself? Mine showed this behavior I then reheat the edges of the screen with hair dryer then put pressure around the screen with those black paper clips, reheat it again then let it cool for about 2 hours.
I'm not entirely sure about the vibrator motor

No, I had it done by a company in phone repairs. But i kinda regret fixing it instead of buying a new phone tbh..

I bought this phone second hand and it had this issue, What I did was hair dryer and paperclip. and ..... try a more ghetto solution, which involves opening the back door, put some foam and double tape it near the camera module, there's an empty space. Make sure it presses the motherboard but not too hard or it will compromise the waterproof glue holding the back cover.
I took a picture of what I did to fix my issue

I'm not going to try that lol, i'm sure I will **** it up big time.. Im going to email the company trying to get something happen..
I had that issue, but since I run custom ROM such as SlimX no more black screen don't know why ?
Just for info is someone has this problem, i had small skin flake on the sensor hahahha.
Not very happy
Bought my son a used S7 few months ago, noticed the right hand side of the Home button didn't work when pressed down (Finger Print works fine)
slowly by slowly over 3 months the whole button became faulty (Finger Print still works fine)
i thought no problem, this will be covered under warranty, sent it back to Samsung UK and they are saying its due to physical damage and not covered, what the hell!
Phone has always been in a case, and screen protector front and back and my son is very careful and the home button has no marks on or any visible damage
think its a cop out of Samsung to say this to make money :/
anyone else has any similar problems, shall i argue over it?
Thanks
