Hello I have recently been having problems with my samsung omnia 7 whihc resuklted in me having to return several of them. Finally I have one that is is working order but now I get this message from Zune Software telling me that:
"You can only swap out one new phone your another every 30 days"
This is really annoying due to the fact that I cannot install any apps until I have added this phone my device list. Does anyone have any ideas if there is a bypass for this.
Thank You!
Did you try removing your old (returned) devices from the list in Zune?
Yes, thats what the problem is I can only remove one device every 30 days but I don't particularly want to wait 30 days.
Thank You
Ah, I didn't realize that was where the message was coming from. I don't know of any way to bypass the 5 device limit. I think you're going to have to wait the 30 days.
The limit is lame, but you can install marketplace apps from your phone without going through Zune.
have you tried removing and then installing zune...
How can you install them without Zune?
If you are referring to the fact that I cant install them from the device I cant I get the same message
But I guess I might as well try reinstalling the Zune Software
Thank You
I just got this error
I removed 3 devices and was able to download in a few hours...literally
I have had this error for about a week now so it sounds like you got lucky
Call Microsoft Zune Support

I have always found them to be very helpful. You have a genuine case so they will figure out a way. After asking for help (on some other matter) they had called me 3 times to try different things and eventually fixed the issue.
Thank You I will try but do you have the number for the UK?

Alright everyone, so I got my invite from Microsoft last night to the Mango beta update. I've carefully followed all of the installation instructions, and on the last step when you need to update the phone to 7661, Zune seems to be hanging at step 8 for me (Restarting Your Phone) - it's been hung on this step for about an hour now. What's ironic though is that the phone has already restarted. It successfully booted into the user UI, and I checked the version number to make sure that it's the Mango beta (sure enough, it shows 7661). Also, on the phone I received a message saying something to the effect of "Update completed" or "Update successful". However, even with all of this Zune still appears to just be sitting on Step 8 of the update process. I have not dared to disconnect the phone from the USB cable, so I figured I would come here to ask first to see what exactly I should do (or if I should just wait some more ).
UPDATE: Issue has been resolved. Phone updated to Mango successfully!
I am also stuck similarly. Step 8 (though step 8 for me says installing updates and my phone has not rebooted).
Did you just wait it out?
Thanks!
[Update] I waited it out and it went to step 9 after around 30-45 mins. Took another 5-10 minutes to complete the updates
I have an HTC Trophy on Verizon. I have Mango version 7661.WP7_5_Trial installed. When I go to Zune it says I can update to Mango version 7712 and so I do. I get stuck at step 6 "Restarting Your Phone..." and the phone will reboot into the "Connect to PC" image. From there it does nothing. I have waited 60 minutes and it still doesn't do anything.
Please tell me how to get around this because I really want to update to 7712 :-(
P.S: I have tried this on two completely different machines. An HP Pavillion g6 running Ubuntu 11.04 via Windows XP SP3 emulator and a brand new Dell desktop pc running Windows 7. Same result on each.
Edit:
I guess 11th times the charm. Finally updated to 7712. It sucks, however, I somehow lost all my backups and I guess this will be the last kind of Mango I get for a long long long time
I don't know if I posted this in the right place, but its a last ditch plea for help.
I've been trying to get my Samsung Focus updated to Tango, specifically to resolve the stupid keyboard bug. I'm on AT&T and they're not giving me anything past 7720. So I used windowbreak, and loaded wp7 root tools, and changed my carrier to Rogers.
This allowed me to pick up 7740, which installed fine.
It then prompted me to install 8107, and during step 7 - while installing, it would suddenly cut to step 1 of 2, "restarting your phone". After restarting it would tell me that error 80070017 had occurred.
I've searched and searched and searched, and none of the solutions I've seen work (most of which are from last year in attempts to install 7720). There are a ton of Nokia users also getting this error trying to get to 8773 recently, and nothing to help them.
Maybe someone here has seen and gotten around this.
Thanks in advance.
I keep pressing the icon of win 10 in taskbar which just write "ok notify me when ready" but never show any message to upgrade.. 2 friends of mine here with the same sp2 had the message to upgrade. I thought surface would have some priority because Microsoft making it..
So I tried a trick I read in net , with cmd window, to make windows update show windows 10 imedatelly. It worked but after downloading it gave me error message WindowsUpdate_80240020. I search it in net and I found that this happened to some others also. I read some solutions regarding get clock a few days ahead, or delete some files windows update downloaded, nothing worked.. But this happens to some others also as I read..
Now every time I install any update with windows update, it writes windows 10 downloading, which is false.. It actually downloading and installing what I have select eg a virus update definition ..
How can I know that update is working well and that some day it will show me message to update to windows 10?
Is there anything else I can do? I have also install android in a partition, but I don't think this has anything to do..
Also should I left sp2 always on (with screen off) so the update to come?
Thanks,
ok, the solution was to reinstall windows 8.1 clear.. After this it downloaded win10 without the error..
Glad you figured out the issue. I too had the same problem.
Now i have another problem in windows 10.. Surface is waking up from sleep (I press the button and surface go to sleep) . By time to time screen powers up..
Anyway i desided to reinstall windows 10, with format everything this time.. Without downloading it again.. By the option that have in settings.
I hope clear will work ok. I think this is the best choise.. Install 10 without format 8.1 has problems, at least for me..
edit, ok problem fixed by reinstalling clean..
Same here.. hit button.. sleep.. wake up... over and over haha
