I can't get win 10 in surface pro 2 - Microsoft Surface

I keep pressing the icon of win 10 in taskbar which just write "ok notify me when ready" but never show any message to upgrade.. 2 friends of mine here with the same sp2 had the message to upgrade. I thought surface would have some priority because Microsoft making it..
So I tried a trick I read in net , with cmd window, to make windows update show windows 10 imedatelly. It worked but after downloading it gave me error message WindowsUpdate_80240020. I search it in net and I found that this happened to some others also. I read some solutions regarding get clock a few days ahead, or delete some files windows update downloaded, nothing worked.. But this happens to some others also as I read..
Now every time I install any update with windows update, it writes windows 10 downloading, which is false.. It actually downloading and installing what I have select eg a virus update definition ..
How can I know that update is working well and that some day it will show me message to update to windows 10?
Is there anything else I can do? I have also install android in a partition, but I don't think this has anything to do..
Also should I left sp2 always on (with screen off) so the update to come?
Thanks,

ok, the solution was to reinstall windows 8.1 clear.. After this it downloaded win10 without the error..

Glad you figured out the issue. I too had the same problem.

Now i have another problem in windows 10.. Surface is waking up from sleep (I press the button and surface go to sleep) . By time to time screen powers up..
Anyway i desided to reinstall windows 10, with format everything this time.. Without downloading it again.. By the option that have in settings.
I hope clear will work ok. I think this is the best choise.. Install 10 without format 8.1 has problems, at least for me..
edit, ok problem fixed by reinstalling clean..

Same here.. hit button.. sleep.. wake up... over and over haha

Getting SMS Messages off Broken Phone

So yeah, I have an AT&T Tilt. The screen recently broke off from the phone but it still works, I can turn it on etc. Is there anyway to save my sms messages to my computer so I can put them on my new phone?
Thanks
use MY MOBILER to connect to your phone via your PC .. and you'll be able to control your phone by seeing your PPC screen on your PC
http://www.mtux.com/
Then you can use PIMBackup or something to save your info
I tried running this program, it says please weait. checking your mobile to see if mymobiler is running and exit now. It then says please wait. installing mymobiler on your mobile now. But it still says not connected...
Try hitting the left soft key to make it install ... bc whats happening is your phone is popping up the install screen where it asks "DEVICE or STORAGE" ... so hit the Left soft key which is "install" ... and hopefully that will install it.
You F'ing rock.
My Apache got stood on yesterday, and the screen is totally dead. You can't even tell if something has changes on the display it's so stuffed.
But My Mobiler is sweet. Allowed me to install/run PIMBackup, so now I've got everything back.
Good call on using the softkey to accept the install.

RapiMgr hanging in Windows 7

I had been using Windows 7 for weeks withno issue (official beta, build 7000), then suddenly about a week ago I started having strange device issue. It started takin forever to go to sleep and when I got home and plugged in my usb hub or any usb devices directly in they would not be acknowledged at all. I think I have found the culprit. In the event viewer I am getting tons of errors from RapiMgr service not responding. Also, I cannot stop the service or terminate the process (WmdHost.exe) no matter how I try. I will restart and turn that service to manual startup now and see if I still get this problem. It doesnt happen all the time, but now that I think about it it may correspond with times where active sync wont connect for some reason (ie everything working fine but no active sync connection -> put it to sleep to go to class (takes forever) -> get home and plug in usb hub and nothing connects).
Anybody else have this issue? Was there a recent update to WMDC?
I'm also using the official Win7 beta, and I had a problem with WMDC when I first installed it. It wouldn't acknowledge that I plugged in my phone. I got really frustrated looking for a solution, and after a lot of cursing, investigating, and more cursing, I finally just uninstalled it and installed it again.
And if you can't uninstall it because you can't stop the process, try booting into safe-mode if you haven't already. If you don't know how to boot into safe-mode, hit F8 while booting Windows to have boot options come up, then select safe-mode. I haven't tried with Windows 7 as I haven't needed to, but in previous versions of Windows, I believe that was the key to press. Hope that solves the problem,
Dave

Thanks for the suggestions. There was no need to boot into safe mode as the process doesn't hang right after a reboot. It seemed to only start after running for a while. After rebooting I just uninstalled WMDC. I will see if the problem happens again but I am 90% sure WMDC is the problem. The question is just why would RapiMgr just start hanging all the time last week and continue to do so after a reformat? Perhaps the ROM that I am now running confuses activesync enough to cause it to freeze the process on my computer? I can't remember when exactly I started using this ROM. Hmmm. If I dont get the problem for a few days I think I will reinstall WMDC and then disable advanced network functionality in USB to PC on the device.
BTW, when I reformatted I decided to go to W7 build 7068. Not really any noticeable changes I dont think, but a nice new login screen background. MS did a very nice job with W7. So polished looking and a joy to use.

WMDC does not run at all on Vista business 32

Hi all,
i am really very disappointed, already spent around 12 hours looking for a solution,
the WMDC does not run at all on my Vista machine which is Business 32-bit,
i tried to uninstall, install again, reboot, more than 20 times, with no luck
this is making me creazy, i couldn't find someone suffered the same
please help me, i am willing even to pay for this help
regards,
sounds like a corrupt vista install I would reinstall or restore it back to default
how to confirm its vista
Hi..
thanks for your post?
how did you confirm that its vista issue,
could i just put the vista CD and ask to rebuild?
will it remove my files on the system
yes itll delete everything
my advice would be to get 7
"i couldn't find someone suffered the same"
was a bit of a give away
you could try another vista computer to verify
or if you're using usb you could try using bluetooth and virsa versa
personally I never had any problems with vista wmdc
its not showing the interface
my home vista machine is working fine,
my machine, is not, its not yet about connecting my mobile,
the software it self is not showing,
i install it, without any error msg, it shows in the start menu, and in the programs of control panel,
but when i click on the icon in the start menu, nothing show at all,
i belive it should show the interface even if the mobile is not connected yet,
acctually it shows ew devices
hi.
it shows new devices as unknown device then the driver couldn't be found
if it's a work computer they prob just removed the rights of installing new hardware
from your user account
i tried both with my user which is part of the administrators group, and also tried with the administrator account directly,
both resulted the saem
it takes around 1 minute on the "0 remaining time"
then it just hide without saying its finished or completed,
the result is an icon in the start menu,
and in the windowsmobile directory in windows folder, it shows some files, like setup, and drivers
then if i check properties of the icon in the start menu, it shows that its for first time installation,
i click on it, it install again
then the changes are on the windowsmobile folder in windows folder more EXE files are there like WMDC.exe (but if run it, nothing comes out)
if i recheck the properties of the icon on the start menu, there is no more target application, (you could call it broken link)
whats happenning
i went through the installation part of it,
http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/wmdc/install.htm
its exactly what happen with me,
but my side i reach the screen which shows "Installing device driver software"
then it failes after,
if i check the devices i find that it find a bluetooth device, but cannot install it correctly

[Q] windows 8 jailbreak fail

My work just purchased window 8 RT tablets for us. (ASUS TF600T). I tried to jailbreak the tablet using the tool on this site. when I run the tool, it asks me to push the volume down button, the tablet says it detected an error and needs to restart. Sorry, no error code. Id like to able to install some small programs, like keepass, end eventually even a full version of office if it becomes available. Anyone know why it keeps failing and what I can do to jailbreak this thing.
try posting the the windows 8 section of the forum, they probably have tutorials for jailbreaking windows rt
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1286
click thanks on the bottom part of the post if helped
Make sure it's got all of the updates installed. I have the same device - once all of the updates were installed on it, the worst I've found is that I have to wait for the system to settle (open Task Manager, wait until most of the usage is by Task Manager itself and not the system, about a minute) before the jailbreak will work, but then it works every time.
Most of the reason for failure that I've seen after startup looks to be because the kernel location that the jailbreak is tweaking isn't at the right location (which is why you need to be fully patched), though it will fail all the time if its done too soon after startup.

I did updates as soon as I took it out of the box. apparently it missed a couple, so I had to do It again. worked after all of the updates had been done. Unfortunately more research and it doesn't look like I'm ever going to be able to load access on this thing, which for my work makes it pretty much useless.
Hi
I have a samsung ativ tab.
I ended up downloading all the versions of the RT Jailbreak tool but still haven't succeeded to jailbreak windows RT on my Samsung Ativ Tab.
Any idea what could be the problem?
When I press volume down, it crashes and displays the blue screen with the REFERENCE_BY_POINTER error.
I installed all the updates, gave it about one to two minutes each time I ran it but still couldn't jailbreak.
any idea?

I can't get mine to go either. No matter how long I wait after boot. no matter how little resources are using the cpu/ram. I've tried different versions. I've tried different download links. but all I get is a registry key error and it saying I didn't wait the 2 minutes even if I waited 30 min. ASUS TF600T Win8.1 RT.
If ANYONE has any idea. I would greatly appreciate the help.
EDIT: Just realized the pics are blurry. The error syas "ERROR: The system was unable to find the specified registry key or value. Waiting for uptime to reach two minutes." (This was after waiting 10 minutes)

[Q] Windows 8 metro apps won't opening

I own a dell inspiron 15 with windows 8 officially installed on it. I purchased it four months ago.
For about a month or two now, the metro apps that came with the installation won't open. Some start loading and the screen turns white and stays that way. Others start loading and the loading ring and the app icon later gets disorganized. The apps in question keeps sending notifications but not accessible.
I really need help with that.
Also, I stopped using the microsoft login sometime back because always entering the long password became annoying. Now for some reason, it keeps telling me there is a network problem whenever i try switch to my microsoft account although i have a working internet connection.
My bluetooth and sd card slot ain't working properly but i believe all these are linked to one problem.
I have tried all the solutions posted online;
*Troubleshoot
*Activate windows
*Use Proxy
*Clear store cache
*Re-registry store
*Resolution change
and all but non worked. I can't update the OS because i cant open store in the first place. My last resort is to format the laptop but i dont want to do that now. I havent backed up most of my data and i dont know whether that'll fix the problem.
Neither can i take it to a dell or Microsoft shop because painfully there ain't one here. So i have to rely on my own understanding.
It seems it ain't enough so am desperately in need of help. *_*
