Sup guys, I've had my phone for about 3 months now and I believe the screen is separating from the phone. When I press on the middle left section of the screen I hear a cracking noise, but on other parts of the screen it's fine. I was thinking about returning my phone to stock and calling Verizon. Has anyone else have this issue?
My first tbolt's screen started to pull up on the lower right side near the search key. I ended up snagging it on my pants a couple times and decided it was time to return it.
Do you think Verizon will void my warranty if I call them with a rooted phone since it's a physical issue?

I wouldn't take the chance. Restore to stock. Better safe than sorry.

First of all, mine does the same thing. It's more an annoyance than anything. It's the tape not sticking like it should. Second, Verizon isn't going to void your warranty for calling on a rooted phone. If they did, mine would have been voided a dozen times now.

It seems that sometimes when I slide my Fuze back in, it'll turn off the phone and I'll need to turn it back on.
I've had the phone for under a year and to that end it's still got the AT&T warranty on it, but since I bought a Tilt 2 a week ago I'm not sure if AT&T will still accept it.
Does anyone know if they will? It'd be nice to keep the Fuze as a backup phone and I don't want it to magically get worse right as I'm out of the warranty period.
Thanks in advance!
thats wierd? they should take it back since it's under a year old. But as soon as you bought the tilt2 the insurance was transferred to it.

I don't have insurance, just a straight warranty, and I haven't called them yet so I'm not sure if it's just me being stupid or if they'd actually shoot me down.
I don't think AT&T's call center is open on Saturday which is why I haven't called them yet.

im pretty sure its open on saturdays, but thats one weird thing, sliding it back turns off the phone? thats really weird haha
I've had the same problem with two previous devices, and It's really annoying. Certain times I can slide it in and out all day long and it's fine. But when ever I'm using it for something important, like navigation it turns off when I slide out, or slide it closed.
yes if its still under warranty they will fix it
hey guys,
i went to the warranty center today to get my cappy swapped. Bought this phone when it first came out. After five random shutdowns in 2 days, i went to the warranty center to get it replaced. i told them that i was experiencing MANY random shutdowns and the GPS problems and they flat out rejected me saying that if they can't repeat it than i can't get it swapped. I got home and just my luck, it rebooted again. is there anyway to force that "! android" screen? Im betting my money that if i could get that to happen i could go there and demand a replacement. A fast answer would be appreciated.
btw, my phones not rooted, and if possible, i would like to keep it that way (ironically, for warranty purposes)
You could use odin to flash stock and pull the plug in the middle. I can confirm that it can produce the result you seek! I dropped mine in the middle of a flash and boom.

They can't reject your request for a replacement it is under the warranty and whatever you find defective in the phone you have the right to replace it. It's not like they are giving you a brand new phone. Of course they cannot reproduce the problem because it happens randomly. If I wore you I would call the customer service and complain about what happen I bet they will give you something for your trouble because you and ATT know that the shut down and the gps issue is widely known.

Hello,
I recently got an insurance replacement of my phone, and this one seems to have an odd issue and I'm not sure if its software or hardware. Basically, sometimes, (frequently) when I go to unlock the phone, I will swipe my finger to unlock and feel the haptic feedback and such, and if its bright I can see the LCD on, but the back light will take an extra 2 or 3 seconds to actually turn on. There's also a bright area in the screen, not too major, but noticeable when reading text on a white screen. Should I contact T-Mobile for a replacement? My phone is still in the 1 year warranty. Could this be a software thing? I'm running virtuous Inquisition 4.0.2. I don't remember this happening on my phone prior to the insurance replacement. My old display was the acer, and this one is the sharp, if that makes any difference.

Bump? Should I warranty this?

I think you should try to warranty it.
I'm also running Virtuous 4.0.2 and never had similar issue.
But before that try to test other ROMs - do they have similar issues?
I tthink the bright spot may have actually been caused by my phone overheating overnight a few weeks ago. Was at like 170f before I woke up and turned it off. The bright spot is right near the sim card slot which is what was hottest, where the processor must be. I think I'll just warranty it, T-Mobile tends to be pretty easy going with warranty returns.
I called tmobile, told them my phone overheated for no reason overnight (even though it was probably my fault) and that now there's a screen defect, they didn't even put up a fight, took like 5 minutes to get a replacement out of them. So easy. Should I unroot the phone and go back to s-on and all of that stuff? Do they check for that? Or do they just check for water damage and cracked screens, etc.? I'd hate for them to claim it was out of the warranty terms. I just don't want to brick my phone returning to s-on, which I know is a bigger risk than when going s-off.
The power button decided it doesn't want to work anymore. Since its been rooted, and I don't trust the shops in town, it's going back to HTC for repairs. They told me it will get wiped during the service (and I will do a factory reset before it leaves), what are the chances of it coming back locked with the factory ROM installed?
Any other things, besides the S3, I should watch for when it comes back? I'm not worried about losing LeeDroid, it's all backed up, and can be restored as soon as it comes home.
Well the power button is a part of the removable SIM cover so unless it's the button in turn being pressed by that that's causing your problem then it's a very easy repair... All bets are of as to whether they'll also RUU your phone for you.

The switch itself is on the phone. Only the physically pressable part is on the SIM cover.
I don't think you will get a s3 version back given the fact that you sent out s4 version and this repair should not be so difficult that they have to give you a replacement.
But, they will very likely factory reset your phone and put everything back to "out of box status". So you will have stock Rom, locked bootloader. I learned this from other threads where people saying it is part of HTC's repair process to flash everything to factory state no matter it's hardware or software repair.

Got the quote back on the repair today.
In order to properly repair your device, the following action(s) will need to be taken which will require payment due to the out of warranty diagnosis:
• Replace Device Main Board

So, when it comes back, it will probably be locked and untampered. It's bad that the guys at T-mobile were telling me to lose it, but I wanted to take the high road and do it right. A main board is $240, btw.

So not worth it...It will be $240 + tax.
You can buy a new one locally for ~$350...Probably could sell the other sucker to some idiot desperate for a deal for $200 as well...
Did they give you any reason why exchanging the mobo is out of warranty? You should ask so if not.
I mean, you sent it in because of a defective power-on button...
They'll just say the reason why is because the HBOOT displays "unlocked".
Honestly if you want to get warranty coverage on an unlocked phone in Europe your best bet is to brick it to QHUSB_DLOAD mode and then send it in.

That was exactly the reason I got. Oh well, it's on it's way back, I can finally put the Nokia 7510 I have been using out of its misery (and mine), and have my One back. There is at least a thread now, in case someone else runs into this problem, they will know what to expect.
I took my tmobile one s back with me to taiwan and got the screen fixed there (HTC has repair/service centers there, it's kinda like an apple store without the products, all they do is help you with your phone)
Anyways, they called me and said, literally, "the mainboad is unstable and needs to be changed" (i sent it in for a cracked lcd) I declined and said just fix the screen....they ended up sending me a brand new/refurb device..
Hey guys, so I have a big problem. If found my Nexus 5 randomly turned off when I was at work. Tried turning it back on, no luck. Tried charging no luck. Tore it down to check everything, looks fine. Then I plugged everything back in and left the back cover off, and it makes a clicking noise when the power button is held but nothing. It stops clicking after about 5-10 seconds.
What's even more problematic is that my device is rooted with a custom kernel (I was running unlocked bootloader, root, stock rom with Faux Kernel for the best part of 3 months problem free) and I'm sort of worried about sending it back for warranty. Any ideas what to do?
Send it in. You should be fine. Google has stated they won't void a warranty of the device is unlocked and rooted. I wouldn't worry. There have been a ton of times I've sent in devices rooted and never had a warranty denied.
Can you go into bootloader? If yes,try go back to stock first.
Thanks matt
No, unfortunately not Simonna, the phone is completely dead
To be honest, they are more likely to void the warranty because you took it apart. I hope they don't though.

Can they tell if it's been disassembled?

Not unless you damaged something while taking it apart.
I don't think I did...
