What are good set CPU profiles to conserve battery while not sacrificing performance?

Here is how I have SetCPU setup on CM7 and MIUI using the stock kernels.
MAX:1000MHz
MIN:216MHz
In Call - MAX:760MHz
MIN:216MHz
Screen Off- MAX456MHz
MIN:216MHz

for the setcpu users, i'm curious if anyone uses the Screen off profile and what their max freq is for that setting. is it possible to set it too low?
if people want to post their full profiles here, that's cool too.
I use 1GHz for my max when screen off (1.6 when normal).

I set mine at 1.3 for normal use. Screen off .9...temp. .6... and a few other profiles i created but cant remember. I also use the interactive or smartass governors.
I set mine to 122 Max with screen off. Getting awesome battery life.

I set mine as low as it can go with screen off profile and no problems.

Ok so I want to start using setcpu because I have heard it helps save the heck out of your battery. Is there anyone with a killer battery saving set up backup file that I could maybe restore on my phone? Also if I'm using nstool for CPU settings should I stop if I'm using setcpu? Please though, if you have a killer battery profile, please upload it and share with the world! Thanks.

Setcpu and nstools work around the same way. Use nstools and lower your CPU clock speed to you desired amount where performance is balanced.

You use setCPU instead of NStools. The battery saving is in the screen off profiles. I have found that it doesn't help all that much on this phone. Just use SmartassV2 and you should be set

What's the best screen off profile?

Hi all! Can someone tell me the recomended cpu settings for saving battery? IM running bricked kernel with badass govenor right now.my ROM has ability to set cpu profiles and change govenors. I wondered what settings would be the best to save battery? Thanks in advance.

Anyone?

Set the max clock speed to 1ghz (1000mhz) then turn screen brightness to 50% and it'll last ages
What govenor are you using?

I would suggest using badass governor with emphasis on battery saving, set clock speed to 1ghz and turn brightness all the way down. You can also turn off auto sync and instead manual sync datat. Should save you tons of battery just manually syncing.
Personally, I use badass performance o/c to 1.6 ghz brightness all the way down with auto sync on. I'm on opensensation and I get about 3 hours screen on time.

Badass, I have a theory though, bare with me...
If clock speed is set to 1.7ghz then the processor should only need to use a single core to do 90% of tasks, so the second core will not need to turn on. The power used to run the first core an extra 500mhz is less then to turn on and power the second core.
I tested this over 2 weeks and I personally had great results, if you start gaming then put it down to 1.2ghz or bye bye battery life lol.
Give it a go

trying to make some custom setcpu profiles and curious if anyone knows what the lowest safe cpu speed for when the screen is off and also while in a call and the screen is off?
Right now I'm on VI and I'm running 368 max and 245 min which is the lowest min for this rom. I always run the lowest on min and 1 higher for max on sleep settings. I don't encounter any issues.

Don't go below 200 when screen is off. You'll get the "sleep of death" at the most inconvenient times.

I have never dealt with that issue.

OP, you may want to look into andrev_oc or virtuous oc daemon. Both are superior to setcpu profiles.

Nope, they aren't, i have programed scripts for both and I own SetCPU. Stick with SetCPU

I have already gone under 200mhz for sleep frequencies. Android revolution goes under 200 and I would run it under 200 always till now that I'm on VI.

I run lowest at 187MHz @ 700mV without any problem. I also set my screen off freq to that. Never tried one below that freq.
Here's a little info on using an overclocking daemon vs setcpu taken from the virtuous unity thread.
Introduction to the new Overclocking Daemon
This ROM features a completelynew wayof Overclocking and managing screen states.
The History But before explaining it further, let's talk about previous solutions. There are several different approaches to achieve "screen-state-scaling". That means basically thatthegovernor changes if you turn the screen off and changesbackto normal when turning the screen on.
This is mainly used to restrict the amount of CPU usage (the frequency in fact) during screen off. This can lead to a major battery life increase.
The solutions so far were:
Apps likeSetCPU,which changeautomaticallythe governor based on profiles Integrated solutions in the governor itself
Both these solutions have major problems.
The one with a tuner app is always a little laggy right after turning on the screen because SetCPU (or any other CPU tuner) needs some time to change the governors (up to 7 seconds). This leads mostly to major lag in the lockscreen.
The second solution is the smartass governor. It has already a screen-state-scalingincluded,so it reduces the frequency when the screen turn off. This could be a really nice solution but it has some problems too. Smartass most of the time is not really stable and has problems with its frequency scaling.
Be aware that the daemon only works if all CPU tuner apps are deinstalled. Otherwise it deactivates itself.

Thats very low. Surprised you do not get any issues.
Wish I could find the thread, but I was on a custom ROM that set the minimum CPU frequency to something below 200 by default, and I couldn't send text or MMS messages. Really weird.
Hi yes im new but not quite a noob :cyclops:
There with that out of the way my overclock settings are 1200mhz min 1600mhz max
so far running great with the HellyBean rom
But how would this effect my phone long term if any and I would like to be able to moniter my cpu temp like I do on my pc
but the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140371&highlight=cpu+temp
has some good apps but they don't say cpu temp just the battery temp unless there interlinked some how
Thanks for looking
No temp sensor on the infuse except for battery.
1200 is really high for a minimum... This should be 100. For performance set governor to ondemand.. This will Max the cpufreq on any load. When idle, freq will drop and save battery and cool phone.
Running for extended periods at 1600 your phone will get very warm to the touch.. Combo of cpu and screen... If plugged into charger that will add more heat.
Battery Monitor Widget is a good app for tracking battery temp and related stats over time.

Thanks ya I figured it was a bit high
Do 100 min and 1400 max
And governor to on demand
Also i set up profiles with set cpu so when screen is off the maximum goes down to 400mhz.then screen on profile the max is 1400.it saves battery

How do you set up profiles?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda app-developers app
Use a CPU manager like SetCPU ($). Voltage Control or Antutu CPU Mgr may also have profiles.. Not sure -it's been a while since I used either.

The only ones I found so far that have profiles are pay for but once I get one I think its going to be either ROM manager or antutu
