Hi guys,
I just bought the TF700T and I'm loving it. However, I find that restoring my tablet to my own specification after updating the device is a bit tiresome. Now the reason I'm doing the factory reset is because I read online that THAT'S what you're supposed to do after updating the device (if that's not the case, feel free to let me know). Regardless, I'm hoping that there's an app out there (paid is perfectly fine) that will restore my device to my original configuration after a factory reset. Things that I'd like it to do are as follows:
1) Automatically re-download all my Google Play apps. I have other android devices, so I'd need the app to remember which apps were installed on the Infinity, and then download them after the reset. Also remembering their custom settings would be nice, too!
2) Backup media folders that I designate
3) If possible, restore widgets that I had set previously (though not necessary).
Lastly, I don't have root access and don't really plan on doing it.
Thank you!
if you are on stock unrooted ice cream and are trying to go to stock unrooted JB then you shouldnt need to do a factory reset. it should DL the update over the air and then install over ICS while keeping all your apps and files as they are.
but if you facotry reset, it will all be gone. titanium backup will do what you need, only if you root.

Thanks for your reply. The only reason I'm doing factory resets is because of a "guide" that purports that doing so will ensure flawless update. I personally do not know for sure.

You should do a factory reset after you manually downgraded the firmware. If you just accept the OTA updates, you should never need to reset. Which "guide" was that?

Oops I can't post links yet, but it's over at the transformerforums. Just google "How to update your firmware OTA - incremental changes & full OS updates"
But if you say it's not necessary, then I won't do it. Too much of a hassle for me to reconfigure all of my apps over something as small as an OTA update.
Thanks!

No you will not lose root but data is lost. unless you only reset settings which will delete the settings and changes but not data.
So I have a Motorola Droid Ultra, rooted, running 4.4 Kit Kat, on Obake 12.5.3, with SafeStrap installed. I have recently started to get random UI reboots and I have no idea what could possibly be causing these random UI reboots. Can someone please tell me, if I want to factory reset, should I use SafeStrap recovery to factory reset? and would I lose root? Or do I have to reflash my phone? (I'd prefer an easy fix while, at the same time, not have to reflash). Can someone help me troubleshoot my issue here? It would be much appreciated
Edit: In addition to the reboots, I also have another problem that has never happened before, when I go to storage settings in the settings menu, everything is stuck on "calculating"...

This is often caused by the cache being broken. I don't know how to rebuild the cache if you're just rooted and not unlocked. If you can find a way to clear it, then try that.
Factory reset can do this, but you might lose root (not sure).
Okay, so I am about to perform a Factory Reset through SafeStrap right now. I will give an update post after I do the reset.
Problem solved!
I did the factory reset with SafeStrap, I am still rooted, and the problem is solved!
I would like to do a factory reset on my phone to fix some minor bugs, but I don't want to loose root. Any suggestions on if/how it could be done would be appreciated.
Right now my phone is on 6.0.1 which is where i want it to stay for now. However, i need to factory reset. After the factory reset will it automatically update to current firmware or will it still be on 6.0.1?

Hi,
Factory reset will not update your phone to Android 7, unless you go to check software update.
You can also disable all 4g and wifi and see if the software update has been set to auto or manual.
Let me know
Think you sorted out?

If 7.0 is available for your model S7, then once it checks for updates after you boot back up from the reset and log into all accounts etc, then it should find the 7.0 update
If not, like above, check manually
By what i understand is that he want to remain on Android 6...
It shouldn't update but if it does Im sure you can still find 6.0.1 firmware on SamMobile and flash that through Odin right?

Read this logically. How does Factory Reset Update your phone!? Factory Reset means phone restored in original factory condition. So 6.0.1 restored to default software for your vendor

I feel ya, but i have this problem in general on this site the last few 5 years where people with zero clue come in here for help without doing some research. And things like that makes me come to this site less often because i cant stand them idiots.
So if I now have Updated to Oreo on my S7 Factory Restore will not put it back to Oreo but on firmware that was in the phone when New? CORRECT????
