I know we have Linux distros working via chmod and such, but I was curious of we could legitimately dual-boot. Windows 8 looks intriguing. Just a thought. Any insight?

there are a few apks out as well i use the miui music player in my rom, so if you look hard enough you can at least find components.
Thanks for all the information. The reason why I asked this question is b/c I saw the xda video on that rom. I thought it looked clean.

You can play with the one in the vibrant forums. Aside from the obvious button/orientation issues it is pretty functional. That and you have to use WiFi.
Just don't do anything stupid unless you can recover with odin.

"Stupid is as stupid does."
Going to try and flash miui and put a captivate modem on the rom.

Moved to Q&A.
I can't help you much except I can confirm there's an app capable of this, I was looking into it for my phone at one point. Keep looking and you'll find it, wish I could help more but I can't recall what it was called.
never used it and cannot confirm it works for xoom but google found me this:
(ok, appears i'm not able to send links because i dont have enough posts)
google for "android remote camera app" and its the first result
IP Webcam
How would I make a forum mobile? What I want to do is essentially, have a forum that is accessible from our android phones once it was downloaded from the market. Would I have to rent a domain/server or integrate it site with an android app? I mean how would I do this exactly?
I am proficient in C programming, GTK UI programming, Bash/AWK. I am a beginner in NASM assembly, JavaScript, python. Also, I can pick up a language very easy because of my C programming background! So, I am not a noob to software and development. Thanks
Ipb pro has mobile skins by default.

so what, just go to proboards, and copy the forum URL, etc and it will then become a mobile app like xda?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
No IpBoards is like vbulletin but if you get the pro version it comes with a mobile skin as default.
That doesnt sound like it would be free. I am trying to do this so it would be free... for me as well as the people who use the forum.
xda has a free app. What is that built with/on? vbulletin I assume?

That is just a tapatalk mod which should work with most forums.

I keep searching but feel like an idiot; I swore I read somewhere that Ubuntu was possible on the TF300, but can't seem to find it again. Help?

I'm sure Ubuntu is at the top of the list. I have Opensuse 12.1 on mine. But I'm planning on installing another. Possibly Zorin 6 which is Ubuntu based, or Solusos. Just wondering what OS works best for you and why?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Th3Bill will most likely miss this post as he has at least 7 builds on 3 devices right now but I know from working with him his favorite by a long shot is Arch Linux. I have a computer with Zorin and like it a lot, but I am not a developer. All the best !!
Huge fan of Ubuntu, you may not easily have 100% control or super minimal like other distros but it's still great to use in terms of user base, help, and PPAs

Ubuntu Studio = Ubuntu with a bunch of music and video editing programs
Xubuntu = nice fast lightweight Ubuntu for older machines
Backtrack 5 or BlackBuntu = penetration testing, not really for development , but still fun
There are so many different distros, I just switched to Linux about a year ago and will never go back. I just run Windows in Virtual Box if needed.
I am interested to hear some response on some development Linux distros as well

I just tried Zorin 6 off live CD. I like it so far. Also like how play on comes with it so I can install some of my microsoft programs on there also.

+1 - haven't updated from Zorin 5 cause I like it so much, will get to it soon.
Just saw a vid on Ultimate Edition 3.4 that's based off of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Comes prepacked with a lot of apps and features. 3.2 gig download though.

The best distro is the one that installs and works with the least dicking around. Try a couple, pick one, and you'll be fine. They're all Linux, they'll all run Eclipse, and you can develop on anything.

Arch Linux takes ages to set up, but once it's up, it's completely worth it.
