I keep searching but feel like an idiot; I swore I read somewhere that Ubuntu was possible on the TF300, but can't seem to find it again. Help?

Does anyone else have issues with the XDA app when using the transformer?
Everytime I open a thread to read that has a really long post (usually the first one) the words all get smeared and garbled looking while scrolling. Short posts are fine though.

I have four Android tablets, which includes my ASUS Transformer. The others run Froyo. Not one of them can successfully use the XDA app - it crashes quite repeatedly. I've only tried the free one. It's possible the pay-for version might work better. I'm not willing to try.
Bye.

I see the same thing and I find it quite annoying.
I had this happen, but then i bought the paid version of the xda app and the problem stopped. Might just be lucky though

What display setting are you using within. The information get the issue with the "basic", white on black, and but the "premium", black on white with orange headers, seems to be fine.
Had the same problem. Display style premium and basic solved the issue.
The XDA free version does FC often.

Ihave the paid app, no FC issues. But does anyone notice it uses data unnecessarily while closed? Is there an update for this? I usually just kill the app or turn off bg data. But I don't want it to happen anymore

I know we have Linux distros working via chmod and such, but I was curious of we could legitimately dual-boot. Windows 8 looks intriguing. Just a thought. Any insight?

I'm running seans SKYICS 12.5
I used to use alot of emulators, such as gameboid. And I never had a problem playing games like super marios world. But now I can't seem to hold in A to run, and the D pad to move at the same time so I can actually run. Any suggestions on how to fix this? With using the emulator and noticing that problem, I'm now seeing it elsewhere, like when I type on the keyboard. I recently switched to swiftkey over swype and I thought it was just the new keyboard wasn't as quick as swype.. So I switched back to swype for a minute and it seems to be a multi touch problem..

I would try going to the latest update, I'm running the 13ish update with no multi touch problems.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Its a non wipe update just clear cache, install zip and reboot let cache build up and fix permissions.
Here's the thread with exact instructions and download link.

Are you sure? I read the change log and it says he's on base 5 now.. I'm on base 4 with update 12.5
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
You can update without base 5 several people have done it and confirmed its working fine, just update as usual. If you want his new base you could always flash, the only downside is if you update base you need to wipe, Happy flashing.

Here's a guy who updated and stayed on base 4

I just updated. Problem persists. I guess I should rephrase. Multitouch works, but not very well. Like I have a delay before what I'm second pressing will kick in. It might as well not work. Idk. I never had this problem on GB. Might be a ICS thing since seans roms are basically perfect.

I can't find any settings to mess with the touch input. Probably has something to do with sensitivity and such.

I'm sure Ubuntu is at the top of the list. I have Opensuse 12.1 on mine. But I'm planning on installing another. Possibly Zorin 6 which is Ubuntu based, or Solusos. Just wondering what OS works best for you and why?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
Th3Bill will most likely miss this post as he has at least 7 builds on 3 devices right now but I know from working with him his favorite by a long shot is Arch Linux. I have a computer with Zorin and like it a lot, but I am not a developer. All the best !!
Huge fan of Ubuntu, you may not easily have 100% control or super minimal like other distros but it's still great to use in terms of user base, help, and PPAs

Ubuntu Studio = Ubuntu with a bunch of music and video editing programs
Xubuntu = nice fast lightweight Ubuntu for older machines
Backtrack 5 or BlackBuntu = penetration testing, not really for development , but still fun
There are so many different distros, I just switched to Linux about a year ago and will never go back. I just run Windows in Virtual Box if needed.
I am interested to hear some response on some development Linux distros as well

I just tried Zorin 6 off live CD. I like it so far. Also like how play on comes with it so I can install some of my microsoft programs on there also.

+1 - haven't updated from Zorin 5 cause I like it so much, will get to it soon.
Just saw a vid on Ultimate Edition 3.4 that's based off of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. Comes prepacked with a lot of apps and features. 3.2 gig download though.

The best distro is the one that installs and works with the least dicking around. Try a couple, pick one, and you'll be fine. They're all Linux, they'll all run Eclipse, and you can develop on anything.

Arch Linux takes ages to set up, but once it's up, it's completely worth it.
