3.2 upgrade for rooted Xoom - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a rooted Xoom running 3.1 and I'm trying to find a 3.2 upgrade without going back to stock. I'm sure its out there but I'm just missing it. Could someone point me to it please?

Sorry meant to mention I have a 3G Xoom. Does that update work for 3G or only WiFi Xooms?
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium

Quoted from posted thread:
IMPORTANT NOTE: This update is for the US Xoom Wi-Fi MZ604 with Android 3.1 ONLY!!! As of v05 of this update, the update script performs NO CHECKS of files before flashing rooted stock 3.2 system and boot images. This means it won't stop you from flashing on a Xoom 3G; it will just flash and you're left with the mess, if any. Please proceed only if you're tech-savvy with Android and the Xoom, ready to restore to stock 3.1 in case of issues, and good at troubleshooting. Please provide feedback and corrections, and I'll update the post as quickly as I can. Thanks!

Why not just flash one of the Tiamat 3.2 Roms? Easy way to get the best of all possible worlds, since you're already rooted.

No, this is for STOCK with root only
Awsome work again Roach2010. Thank you
That doesn't make sense to me. If its for rooted tf's, it shouldn't matter what rom you are running.
No? I'm no expert though.

It's patches rather than a full rom so it can only be successfully be applied over 8.4.4.11 stock.

Sorry, It upgrades stock 8.4.4.11 to 8.6.5.6 (3.2) and adds/keeps root. It also needs to be flashed with CWM recovery.

That didn't take long... Amazing work Roach, thank you!
Once someone applies this to a stock ROM, can't they remove all the patch files from the zip, copy the files from their 3.2 ROM into the zip, and update the updater-script to remove the patching instructions/replace with copy instructions? That would essentially give us a zip file that could update any version to 3.2, no?
Yeah this didn't work for me...it fails to install and got a message about tegra zone....

didn't work for me either, got error for kindle-oem.apk i removed kindle before and wheni put it back in still getting the same error, pls fix this can't wait to get to 3.2 lol
So this flashes 3.2? If I have Prime 1.6 now, and flash this, I'll have Stock 3.2?

Being a dickhead isn't fundamental.
Thanks Roach! Trying this now....Seems to be installing just fine atm.
Any idea when you'll have Prime updated for this? Can't wait for it.
Thanks again! I'd buy you a beer if my kid didn't cost so much.
EDIT: Flashing it in CWM worked just fine....taking a while to boot, but whatever. I'm sure it's all fine....
EDIT2: Just cause I'm wondering, should we be flushing our cache and data and such in CWM before rebooting? Just wondering.....
And just booted into 3.2. Works great!

It's a rite of passage, lol. Serioulsy though, he's right. It clearly states you've got to be on a STOCK Rom. You stated you were on 1.6 Prime, so there was no reason for you to think it would work directly without flashing back to stock. =\
It's meant to be flashed on top of Super's Stock Root Repack ROMs for example

Title has been updated since you last looked. Now reflects "STOCK"

GB OTA finally started..

Just got a notification, update size 114.9mb, rebooting right now to install.
Had the leaked version of 2.3.6 for a while now, HUGE improvement, let me know what the OTA updates you to, just curious.

Do you still have the update.zip file on your phone?
Probably a bit early to tell, but anyone know if this update will affect rooting? My dad took this update today... his charge has never been rooted before. Now today he tells me he wants tethering. I'm wondering if I can still follow one of the root guides with this OTA installed.
I'm sure just Odin a rooted version

You can flash a rooted version (such as the CWM Deodexed rooted release in Development), or you can just flash su directly. I would avoid flashing a full EP4D Odin for now because we don't have a dump of the CDMA modem, so you would be overwriting the CDMA modem with an older version by using the Odin.
Flashing imoseyon's kernel from Rootzwiki would also give you root, as well as lagfix and some other extras, but be aware that it is based on a slightly older kernel. I haven't had any problems with it yet, but it's something to be aware of.
I have instructions on how to root the Samsung Droid Charge at the link below...
http://www.toms-world.org/android/#rootInstructions
Was this thing themed by a blind guy? It's like they took the Epic GB status bar and just slapped it on the old notification pulldown. So gross! I see the pumpkin vomit reference.

Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for! I do have one question if you don't mind... since this method is just rooting the stock rom, do I have to wipe? I'm sure my dad would prefer to keep his phone the way it is if possible.
Wipe what?

Data... as in, should I do a factory reset on his phone, or just leave it as it?
No wiping needed. You can root a device and keep all data and apps as it was.

[Q] UK Xoom WiFI to GED (ICS OTA?)

Hi Guys
I've got a 604 UK Xoom Wifi with Honeycomb 3.2 running. I've not rooted it or flashed it.
I'm looking for the easiest way to make it a GED that will receive OTA updates to ICS and then Jellybean when it comes out. I've looked through numerous threads and am really confused!
Any recommendations are much appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Im sure someone will come by and point to a guide on XDA but in the interim I did this on my UK Wifi only Xoom to get to GED (and thus ICS)
http://www.xoomforums.com/forum/motorola-xoom-hacking-guides/6591-how-uk-wifi-us-ged.html
Took all of 30 mins max to complete.
I've thanked you, thanks.
Did you get ICS automatically, or did you need to check for the updates?
Also, what version of Windows/Linux are you running?

Hello all, I'm from the evo3d forums, and i just got my tf300t and only have 2 questions ...how do I know/check what my current firmware is? Also, there is a pending firmware update but I am not sure what it is for...I'm guessing its jellybean but after seeing the jelly bean issues thread I am hesistant to download it so I'm curious to know if there is any way to know what the update is for without actually doing it, that little firmware message keeps popping up and its starting to freak me out...the suspense is killing me lol someone please advise

Go to settings - about tablet at the bottom - all info is there. If your android version is anything other than 4.1.1 then that would be why you're getting tagged for the update.

Thanks my current version is 4.0.3...should I update or stay with ics? That thread about the jelly bean issues that many people are having with this tablet have me hesitant to update combined with the fact that once u go JB there is no way to get back to ICS..what do you guys suggest?

Are you wanting to root your tablet? If so, stay on ICS.
I would hold out.

Personally I would stick with ICS for now. I updated my girlfriends tablet to JB and now the backspace on her dock works intermittently.

If you're up for unlocking the thing, then you can try one of the JB ROMs with the option to return to ICS (even stock ICS) later. I've been running JB since July on AOKP or BAKED BlackBean and love it. Both of those boot with the ICS bootloader so you're able to swap back and forth.
I am also in the same boat I'm on 4.0.3 and just got the update notification. I had updated as soon as I got my tablet but I guess that turn out to be the minor update. Now knowing that I am still on ICS. I was curious to know where I can get information about Rooting my tablet. Also if I am on ICS do I need to unlock the bootloaders?

Look in the Dev section for the debugfs method. This method does not require unlocking. This method only works on ICS.

Yea I think I'm going to stick with ics for the time being, is there anyway to stop the firmware update message from popping out or disable it entirely as I would certainly hate to press the install button by mistake when I'm drunk or something lol

Form EOS to US stock

my xoom was originally the wifi only asian version. I rooted and flashed Tiamat EOS 1.0.0. I am totally a noob and was only able to do these things due to the amazing help here at XDA. I am thinking I want to set up the xoom as a US wifi so I can get the JB updates. Is this relatively easy? How do I go about doing this. I have clockworkMOd and ROM manager, and can back up my current ROM.
Thanks in advance
Please post all questions in the Q & A section. Thanks! Thread moved.

Just use that, It's stock US WiFi with root added. If you've got ClockworkMod recovery installed and you're a noob then this is by far the easiest way to go.

It should be fine, but I can't guarantee anything.
I did at one point flash it on my UK WiFi Xoom and it worked fine. So you should be good
yes, i can flash the stock (with root) to my asian "Hongkong" MZ604, the only thing is i need to edit the build.prop prior flashing, change
"MZ604" to "Xoom"
