Hello,
not that those numbers matter so much but just out of curiosity why the new samsung with the same chipset as the o2x scores so much higher in Quadrant?
Is it because of the 1GB of RAM?

Some necroposting...but it has 600 mhz...
i may be corrected but i think the galaxy r has uses EXT 4, while our o2x uses EXT 3 when referenced as stock, giving the o2x a considerably lesser score in quadrant
quadrant is outdated and no use for newer phones, those scores mean nothing as far as im aware quadrant STILL does not properly support dual core devices.
Try cf-bench, made by the creator of chainfire3d, try at standard clock speed then try cloakk the cpu to match that of the sgs2 and you will see that the tegra 2 device out performs its rivals in many areas when the over clock is matched. and sometimes even when is lower.
really sick of seeing quadrant its such a crap app.

Yes but the stock rom is crap, and if the o2x tegra 2 chip was released overclocked like the sgs2 was then the o2x would get better stats, the sgs2 gpu is good but the tegra gpu is way better with 3d stuff and that's whats important as we get into more advanced games.
I take it you have not rooted or installed any custom roms so i suggest you do, it will open up your phone to better things and increase performance by 100% compared to that crappy stock rom.

The higher the OC the shorter the processor life, that is the general formula. But in terms of longevity, you should get many years OC'ing without problems.. You will know your individual processor breaking point because your scrolling will slow, and you will get reboots... Just install CM and cruise at 1.3ghz and you should be safe
JD
I can only run to 1.3 GHz stable, but there isn't any long term implications that I know of. My Nexus One was overclocked for months and never suffered any ill effects so I suspect the Nexus S will fair well or even better than that phone.

There is implications for any OC, but they will probably will not be felt in the short to mid term. OC damage can take years, but can also hit you in the short term if you OC to dangerous levels

I don't know if you're right or not but I just flashed the 1.5 kernel and at 1.4 this thing is as fast as a computer..I hope you're right because I don't wanna go back to 1ghz..
Got 2016 quadrant after a reboot which is 300 higher than I got at 1 gig..
http://www.qualcomm.com/snapdragon/specs
Right below the dual core, High performance Smart Phones section. MSM8655 is our processor, it comes @ 1.0ghz, plam pre3 has the same and it comes @ 1.4ghz. The chip can take it but I think it was lowered for battery concern. I notice a lot of speed just flying through different programs when OC to 1.5, it opens them much faster, could be the I/O tweaks as well though. As for PC, mine puts out 42 gflops compared to my phones 49 mflops, still a long way off, thats 0.001% of the processing power. This phone is no slouch, so I guess it speaks more for my computers power.
sweet....im just gonna run it at 1.4 and since i have the 2750 battery i'm not gonna worry about battery life at all. i love this phone right now..

After upgrading my HTC Sensation with the Official ICS update, Quadrant Standard gives the now ICS HTC Sensation phone a higher score than Galaxy Nexus.
Can this really be true? And why is the score higher?
HTC Sensation has a dualcore CPU why does Quadrant Standard(The latest version) still claim the phone is only single core?

Quadrant shouldn't be used as a definitive way to compare devices to one-another. There are many factors that can change a device's score; it isn't the best way to gauge a device's capabilities.
On the other hand, there are ICS kernels for sensation that will push your CPU clock speed to 1.51 and beyond, so compared to a stock Galaxy Nexus, I could believe a modified and overclocked Sensation could beat it out.
This is true. With the Sensation being pushed to its limits and kernels maxing out the dual cores i def would have to say the Sensation is the Lamborghini versus the nexus as the corvette.
I have inspected Quadrant's device information. I see that it says there is 1 available CPU core in the device and 2 available CPU cores for Java. Not sure why.

Seeing as you're overclocked it's no wonder you're quicker than the Nexus...Nexus is 1.2GHz stock, you're 1.6GHz
Both stock, the Sensation gets pretty much identical scores as the Nexus

It is truly a Sensational device! Bad pun, sorry. I think the only thing the Note has over us is the higher resolution display and pen input...maybe the camera is of better quality. Honestly though, 960x540 is good enough for me. I picked the Sensation out of 20 other Android devices because it had more of what I wanted. I even picked it over the HTC Amaze.

Thought so, I never really looked into it but kinda assumed that it was just the Verizon Nexus that might get slower updates.
i downloaded the last version of quadrant from google play and im getting very low scores with my atrix 2..
i don't have any widgets, live wallpapers , 3rd party launchers, etc that could affect the results..
my scores are:
total: 1906
cpu: 1977
mem: 2471
2d: 211
3d: 2029
the max score i've got is about 2100.. and the average for this phone must be around 2600-3000 if im not wrong, i haven't installed any custom rom, i have the stock GB 2.3.6
what could be the problem ???

There you go... that sounds right (that about what my wife's stock A2 gets).
And, yea, it can get bogged down after long periods of use without rebooting..
Moto recommends at least one reboot a day (at least they did to me when trying to troubleshoot my brick)!
Also, you can put most all of your apps on the Auto-End list in the stock Task Manager, and try Cache Cleaner from the Play Store... also good to clean up the dalivk-cache once in a while... might help keep you running smoother.

Its funny to think that the iPhone 5 gets 1600.
Apple: "Technology that's years ahead".
Haha this is true. And the new iPad 4 only reaches about 1750. Exynos kicks arse!

So, its just too hard to find and compare different benchmark results of different devices. There should be one thread to collect them. Posts your results here, with device name, revision, ROM version, clock speed and other stuff needed

For a CPU with 4 cores, 8 threads, 8mb cache and a speed of 3.5ghz, that is a extremely bad result.
Try getting a better Android emulator and update Antutu benchmark to at least v3.0
