Well since u went the revolutionary way ur all set to go as you got the best thing u can get, s-off. Plus I wouldn't even try goin the HTC route since I'm pretty sure it voids ur warranty(since they'll keep track of who uses it). And with the the revolutionary way, you can revert back to s-on if needed to send for warranty repair or sum
So go out and start flashing! (Well, roms ofcourse)

Thanks 4the info I only wanted it unlocked so I can change the splash image I will just have 2put up with the standard 1
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using xda premium
You can change it anyway if you're S-OFF - you don't need to unlock the bootloader
Any ideas how cos iv tried a few ways now with no luck

It only voids your warranty if that (unlocked bootloader) was what caused your phone to malfunction. All other warranties on the phone stay the same.

It's already S-OFF, which means the bootloader is unlocked. It's simply called two things - S-OFF and unlocking the bootloader are the same process/thing.
Cheers guys but I still can't change the dam splash screen

Finally all sorted i went from s-off RL to ENG s-off RL which has sorted my problem
Thanks to all that helped !!!

Hey guys,
is the unlock mode in htcdev.com is the same as the S-Off thing? or is it different?
It's HTC's version of it - don't do it as they then know you've done it and can refuse to repair your phone

10000% yes
OK then, I'll rely on the Revolutionary thing. Thanks Eddy
Hi,
I was wondering how you would root a htc desire s hboot version 2.0.0002 with S-ON. Another question I had was on htcdev where I would like to unlock the bootloader on my phone the 'S' model isn't listed. Would it come under the desire or other phone models? Thanks
take other phone models since its a desire s and not a plain desire.
if you got your bootloader unlocked u need to downgrade the bootloader
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318919
and continue with
http://revolutionary.io/
i didnt tried anythign of this yet but thats what id like to do with my desire s as soon as i got enough time
if youre happy with s-on you could go for the zergRush thing for temproot right after youre done with unlocking the bootloader with htcdev.
hope its correct. ive just started reading yesterady in here
€ or search for the superoneclick. same thing as the zergRush but much more easier to use

OK Thanks For Your Help
is it dangerous to do this?
im no pro in flashing and all this stuff but as long as you follow the instructions there should not be any prob. if theres any high risk in bricking the device or anything there will be an extra warning i guess.
oh and one big nogo i learned by my friends phone.... never ever pull the battery
and you lose the warranty by unlock with htcdev.
Ok thanks is it reversable when the bootloader has been unlocked? Thanks
I have now unlocked the bootloader so how do i root now?
if you just need root, check this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1390496
if u want s-off u need to downgrad the bootloader and go for revolutionary like i posted befor
€ and always edit your post if u need to add something . dont double post like you did
u just can re-lock your bootloader with htcdev but u cant go back to the normal locked. not 100%sure about this

The point of installing a rom is that they can be smoother and more customisable, they also get rid of a lot of the branding **** that comes with the pjone.
As for sim-unlock this has nothing to do with s-off or routing, you can pay to get it unlocked from ebay, Idid it yesterday and it cost me £3.99, so very reasonable.
would this be ok? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNLOCK-CO...ultDomain_3&hash=item3cc0e2889b#ht_3192wt_952
and what is a goldcard? I am new to rooting
Looks ok, I used this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Unlock-Co...ssories_RL&hash=item2c611a04e1#ht_2693wt_1344
what is a goldcard? Thanks
goldcard allows you to flash RUU files with a different CID to your device.
what would you say is the best rom? Thanks
Hello folks,
as I don't' want to start a new topic I do hope to get a straight NO answer here

OK, so I am learning android (using HD2 now) and from what I understand when you use the htc boot loader unlocker you end up with a "tampered" warning somewhere that will let htc or your carrier know that you have unlocked your bootloader.
Does having s-off help you to be able to trick the phone from knowing that you have been into it if you flash it back to stock?
I am just worried about keeping insurance on the phone if once I unlock or s-off they will no longer cover it.
Sent from my NexusHD2 using XDA
I think that particular device will say, tampered. Soff is like security off you can fash roms and do many things with soff but no it does not trick the device into thinking its not tampered. With my device I can s on return to stock but I'm not sure about yours.
It might have tampered marked on it.

It doesn't set a "tampered" flag. The stock bootloader has a caption at the top of *locked*. When you use htcdev to unlock the bootloader it will change that caption to *unlocked* and it cannot be undone.
S-off, on the other hand, does not notify HTC or your carrier of what you have done. It is also reversible if you really need to set things back to full stock.

When you use HTC Dev to unlock your bootloader it does show Unlocked on the Hboot screen. But if you re lock the bootloader it displays re locked on the Hboot screen and not locked as it is originally. S-off can be reversed with out any trace of it being S-off. And now that the unbricking project has come up with a way to recover your de ice if going S-on soft bricks your device it is way less dangerous now.
At realsis, think about S-off as being like HSPL for the HD2.
I believe someone has figured out what was being set differently, and you can in fact return to "locked"

Go on........
Don't know if this works for the Sensation, but if someone is trying to go back to locked hboot, give it a try.
Go back to totally stock. Flash a RUU, preferably GB so that you have an earlier hboot that can be easily S-OFFed again.
fastboot oem write secureflag 3
Reboot and you should be S-ON again. AGAIN, MAKE SURE YOU ARE TOTALLY STOCK WITH A SHIP HBOOT OR YOU WILL BRICK.
Use revolutionary to S-OFF again. Hopefully, you will be locked at this point.
If not, repeat, but use JuopunutBear to S-OFF.
If you're still unlocked, this method doesn't work on the Sensation.
Hi
I have a Sensation with stock 1.27 hboot
My warranty is for more 1 year.
Not really sure about something:
On juopunutbear official website it says that devices that can go htcdev bootloader unlock (like mine) will not use this no unlocking method.
My question is, can I do this without unlocking my bootloder via htcdev?
Also, if lets say I want to ship my device for warranty repair, can I undo this process? (s-on)
Thanks in advance

Hi
Thanks for the quick reply.
Just to make sure, It says "If you are unable to get HTCDEV Unlock due to motherboard replacement please follow these instructions. These instructions are NOT for devices that are capable of achieving HTC Dev Unlock but you just don't want to."(from the official site).
I dont have motherboard replacment. Can I still do this method?

Follow all steps carefully.
Start with s off without HTC dev unlocked
If u feel wire trick is hard to do ,then unlock bootloader using HTC dev. . .. this may void your warranty..
It is easy to do wire trick after unlocked bootloader..

I don't recommend using HTCDev if you can get S-OFF. It forwards a unique device identifier so they can deny your warranty if you take it to HTC.

Hello guys
Sorry for my bad english but il try to be precise as i can. I bought my htc on ebay it says new and it feels new. But after i read may treads here it seems its not new . I have problems with automatic software update it freezes on 20% then it reboots after few minutes, if i regard this problem the phone works fine. But im fustrated i want new software . Now i got in boot loader in this is what it says:
++++locked+++++ - in one tread i read this should be relocked
evita pvt ship s-off rl - i belive this is s-off i need your confirmation
cid - 11111111 - i dont understand fully this yet but its a good thing i belive
h-boot 1.09.0000 - dont understand what this means
RADIO - 0.16a.32.09.17_2 - i belive this is software for my phones antena
open dsp - v25-1-0-32-0405 - dont know if this is imortant
emmc -boot
Apr 2 2012, 21:08:24 - is this last known software update i manufacturing date
Know i need you help to explain this thing to me and if its safe and what do i have to do to install new software. Which software whould you
recommend and maybe can i install viper xl
Thanks
The phone definitely isn't new. You have SuperCID (11111111) and s-off which means it has been unlocked at some point. But the good news is you can easily unlock the bootloader at htcdev, then install a custom recovery, and then install Viper if you wish.

Thanks for the reply, now i never unlocked bootloader can you give me some advice on the safest way to do that and where can i see when bootloader is unlocked, sorry for dumb questions but if i dont ask ill never learn
Can somebody send me some links where can i find instructions on how to unlock bootloader, make recovery image and then how to install viper xl rom
Is your phone an at&t model? If it is it'll have the at&t logo above the screen, otherwise it'll just have the HTC logo.

The phone is s-off, does the OP even need to unlock the bootloader to install TWRP, flash ROM, etc.?
You typically won't receive OTAs for AT&T phones outside of North America. So that is probably why the update is failing.
