On the desire s it is easy to get scratches on the screen and I have a keep one. I thought that the screen was gorrila glass??

i haven't noticed any problems with mine. I even dropped it on concrete which managed to chip the aluminium on the back but left the screen intact. The only time i can see scratches are when it's under direct light and those are still hard to see. Also, i do not use a screen protector.
It's clearly not a rubbish screen or this forum would be flooded with more posts saying the same
Buy a screen protector they're named like that for a reason

I obviously have got one now.

I hat screen protectors, but the screen seems to be adequate; I dont get any scratch and carry the phone in my pocket without any kind of protection (just try to no mix up with coins and keys).
When compared side to side, the screen is also somewhat dimmer and the Nexus S (S-LCD version, not amoled). Colors are also less vivid, but that may be software related.
Viewing angles might and black levels not be the best, but the brightness and colours are great. I'd hardly say the screen is crap. Also, pretty sure it is Gorilla glass but I'm not going to try and find out.
Compare it to x10 mini and you an se that diference...

i am pretty sure that the screen is gorilla glass
who told you that gorilla glass cant be scratched?it is scratch resistant not scratch proof
a small grain of sand can scratch the screen easily
that is why it is always better to get a screen protector as soon as you get the device
DS has for sure gorilla glass. but you can see some small hair0like scratches when the screen is off. i use protective membranes
I tried on x10 mini foil from Brando. They are 110% quality. But after an hour goes to bin :-D
I havent any scratch on screen. Desire s detto.
I noticed a scratch today, only had it several days.
does anyone have dust in there screen and do they know how to fix it if you cant send it back to tmobile
Plenty of people have experienced this issue. There is a big thread about it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1114612
My first Sensation had the problem pretty bad. But I got it replaced with a new batch built in August and it hasn't had any problems with dust under the screen.
The consensus is that the dust is getting in through an opening in the glue which holds the glass to the inner shell (not the battery cover). Some people have said that if your glass clicks just a bit around the edges then you most likely have the issue with glue not sealing your screen properly.
Some have recommended turning the phone off and taking a hair dryer to the outer edges of the touchscreen to heat the glue up then lightly press on all spots around the screen allowing the glue to reform properly.
Personally, the screen on my last Sensation clicked just a bit all the way up the right side of the screen, where the dust got in. My new screen doesn't make a click sound at all anywhere on the screen.
Honestly, the hair dryer trick is a shot in the dark at this point but it's worth a shot if your screen clicks.
I did have it but I sent it into Virgin and now it is fixed

I wouldn't recommend hairdryer. One guy used it and got really bad screen bleeding.

Hi guys, this thread is for all users that have dust underneath screen problem with Sensations.
We all know that our Sensation's screen is made by Sharp or AUO. In addition, it is obvious that dust problem is real.
I just bought the phone and I really want to find out is there a connection between panel type and dust problem (so we can avoid it if possible).
Since the threads above contain a lot of uncategorised data, I decided to open new thread with a poll to get more info.
My guess that problem occurs when glue breaks and sucks in (because of vacuum) the dust captured by battery cover...
To find out which panel you have:
Use terminal emulator (free from the market) and run the command dmesg (root is not needed). It will output a lot of data.
Look for this line and report it (the numbers might not be the same): [9178.895111] Panel Type = PANEL_ID_PYD_??????
(if you can't find it, you can long press on the output in terminal emulator copy all and then paste it into an email and send it to yourself. Then do a search with "panel" as keyword).
To find out is there some dust under your screen, look closer while on max brightness or under direct light (sun, preferraby).
Thanks.
Voted. Sorry, poll does not appear from xda app. Voted from browser.

Thanks for making this poll!

I wish you would have include no dust aou, and no dust sharp options. I have a sharp and no dust, but I can't vote.
I can't edit poll, only mods can...
Although it is a good idea, i don't know if relevant data would be collected over time if 2 answers would be added (no dust - panel), eg. now you don't have any dust (and voted no), and if after 2 months you "develop" dust you could come back here and vote yes...see the issue?
Yes I see, but my phone is 5 months old, but I guess it could still happen. I just wish we knew the total number of sensation owners on xda vs. How many have dust issues.

Well, although it is too early too tell, but judging by results so far, it may be that digitizer implementation is culprit here... :/
It would be nice to know who assembles it, panel manufacturers or HTC... ?
I'm not sure how to vote on this. Truth is I have had dust on both types of screens. 4th replacement due to dust is on its way. All 4 exchanges were due to dust entering the screen.
I have an AUO screen, and here is the picture of the dust under the screen.
i have a picture of my screen with dust available { ***.imagebam. com / image /f4941c173425172 }
All those having dusts, is it located at the same position on yours ?
I've just noticed some dust...AUO screen...
But I don't mind really since I see it only on strong outside light and only if I look really close...
I'll wait some time to see how it develops and get replacement then...
i have dust, and i have AOU screen
Going on 8 months, still no dust under my sharp panel.

I had a sharp originally that I got on launch day it had dust. Got a brand new sealed in the box AUO panel, it also got dust. It isn't the panel, its the gap around the screen between the screen and bezel. Only way to ensure you never get dust is the silcon deal.

I just got my Sensation 4G back from HTC yesterday. I sent it in because of a pretty bad case of dust under the screen, a broken exterior physicical Volume rocker, and the fact that every call I made or received people would say they could not hear me. I had the AOU screen.
Is it possible to remove the dust thats already there? I have 2 large dustspecs on each side on the middle of the screen. Can i crack up, clean screen and reseal it?
Bothers the **** out of me. Would do the silicone if i didnt buy my phone used

AUO screen and a lot of dust under it!
Small amount of dust, Sharp screen. It oddly doesn't seem to be getting worse though, which is why I am in no rush to send it to HTC.

AUO screen
I purchased my HTC Sen 4G from TMO less than a month ago and now have dust under my screen. I ran the terminal emulator and found my display was manufactured by AUO (FYI this information is near the top of the printout NOT the bottom or middle took me a while to find it, hope this helps someone else). This is very disappointing. I love my Sen and hate that there is a design flaw. I am concerned that it is only going to get worse with time. I will keep this phone for at least the next two years so I want it in tip top shape at the beginning so I can keep it that way. I still have my MT3G and it is in mint condition.
Freaking fantastic. I just got dust underneath my screen from both sides. Sharp screen.
So as the title says, I just discovered dust under the "glass" but above the lcd and its not too noticeable but it bug me knowings its there. Also I can see the pixels being blocked by the dust. Anyways does anyone know how to get the out or clean it?

Hi everyone.
Buy sensation two weeks ago.
And noticed little spot (or bubble) on screen near ambient (which is under glass) sensor.
Is there malfunction?
Looks more like it has happened due to dust or something, which is a more common issue when it comes to the Sensation..
Don't worry mate! it doesn't look like a malfunction

You see there's a common problem in Sensation of dust getting under the screen..It's a manufacturing defect available in many Sensations..There are one or two such bubbles in my phone as well..but they are not that visible..So that's what I referred to by saying it may have caused due to dust..
So no worries mate!
Thanks. Is bubbies on visible part of display?

Well, yeah there can be some bubbles underneath the middle of the screen as well..but as it's a manufacturer default we have no control over it..you can avoid the situation to an extent by using a case that covers the bezel of the phone..
and if there are lots of dust underneath the screen you can return the device and get a replacement, but that won't be an option if there are only little..
you can refer to this thread which discusses about this issue:
