on my 3rd replacement, got offered for the G2??!!

they wouldn't offer me a better phone, instead, they told me they either going to replace another g2x or a g2 for alternative device.

Wow they wouldn't atleast give you a sensation? How many g2x's have you gone through? I'm starting to think I want a sensation since it already has gingerbread and we wont have to wait til Christmas like I'm starting to hear. But its going to be tough to part with it, I've grown attached lol but can stand reboots and screen looks like hell.

I just got a replacement in the mail, and it's not functioning properly, so they're sending out another one.
I asked if after 3 tries I'd get upgraded and the dude said yes I'd likely go to the Sensation. Now, whether this comes true if I get to that point, we'll have to wait and see.

did you have to revert it back to stock when you sent it back? what problems were you having with the g2x? Thanks.

you WON'T get a Sensation. The phone is not picked by you or the rep but by the computer, pre-determined by some CFO or head of Loyalty or something. YOu won't get a Sensation unless you are within buyers remorse and return the phone for the price you paid, then spend that on a Sensation. If you used an upgrade to get the G2x, instead of the 30 days, you only had 14 days buyers remorse.

Nonsense. More then 2 replacements of the same device is unacceptable, but if you allow them to do nothing, NOTHING will be done! Keep in mind that they will not simply give you what you want, you will have to do some verbal gymnastics. They will tell you ANY and EVERYTHING to get you off the phone: We'll have someone give you a call back, my supervisor is not available, etc. DO NOT accept another G2x and DO NOT accept a downgrade (G2, Mytouch 4g etc). If he or she says there is nothing that can be done, ask to speak to his/her superior. Bottom line, I am a satisfied customer.

G2x with Wear and Tear Plus 200 Dollars for HTC Sensation Good Deal?

Ok, so I have a G2x right now with some wear and tear (scratched and knicked up corners from dropping several times). Do you guys think that trading the G2x plus 200 bucks is a good deal for a brand new in-box factory sealed Sensation? I am just fed up with the G2x and the overheating and freezing and the frequent battery pulls I have to do on it. I just need a dependable reliable phone and the G2x has yet to fill that need. I've tried several ROMs and the phone still has issues even with the new GB update. What do you guys think of this deal? I don't want to get ripped off. Let me know, thanks.

Not a very good deal, what if the phone isn't legit for one. And you have thar many issues still with the phone you should be able to go to tmobile and get a deal from them for the sensation. I wouldn't do that deal at all, unless I was giving you the sensation lol.

I tried getting something through t-mobile but i used my upgrade in april for the g2x so they told me all they could do was swap for another g2x or pay full retail for a sensation ...Is there anyone at t-mo that can get me a better deal? Thanks.

I'd do it. I'm so fed up with my G2x that I'm thinking of getting what I can for it on e-bay and going to another carrier. I don't care if the sensation is laggy, as long as it works and HTC doesn't jerk me around any longer. Just my opinion.

Hell yea that's a good deal and if anyone says differently....Their high! Even if you end up getting a bad Sensation, you could still sell it for a lot more than you would ever get out of your G2X. Go ahead and do the deal man. You wont regret it. The Sensation just got the unlocked bootloader so game on. I've been using my Sensation for 2 months and rarely ever pick up my G2X anymore. I'm actually getting ready to throw it on Ebay since I really have no use for it anymore. I was using it to play around with ROMS but now I can start doing that on my Sensation which will be getting Cyanogen any day now.

Just out of curiosity what rom are u running? Since updating via LG tool then wiping and installing xboarders rooted GB my phone is pure awesomeness, not a single issue (though mine didnt have many to begin with). Just saying, if u haven't tried that its definitley worth a shot because most people have had positive experiences with it; I definitley have.

I have tried MIUI, CM7, EB 1.06 based off of v21e, Xboarders 2.3.3 based off of V21e, and Faux's AOSP 2.3.5. While the LG 2.3.3 update has definitely resolved some bugs I still get the overheating, and the sleep of death. I still find myself doing battery pulls once a day. This is with all of these ROM's I just mentioned. It's very unfortunate because I honestly want to like the G2x but it's difficult.

I know that there are some good ROMs out there and I've looked into installing them but I shouldn't have to install a ROM on a $500 device to make it work properly. It is not like I am a phone super user. I surf a little, make some calls, and play a game or two but now instead of a reboot, it just stops working. And all of the "The Update Will be soon" then nothing announcements have killed all of Tmobile's credibility with me. Not to mention that LG released an "Update" apparently without even telling Tmo, then Tmo followed, and not I'm hearing rumors that the update was discontinued (not confirmed yet). . . . Seriously? F, it. I'm taking my ball and going to home.

Htc sensation has more and worse issues than the g2x.. I traded for the sensation just like you, went through 3 of em.... That phone has 3 types of screens, bad I mean horrible wifi, screen won't respond after a week, dust, etc.... The only thing better on the sensation is the camera.....

Just get another g2x that don't do that...there out there, mines one..another coming today I hope its good too, if not ill keep replacing cause I know theres good ones cause I've had a few....

Just like there are G2X's out there with no problems, there are also Sensations out there with no problems. I would say both have there issues on a large scale but which phone bow adays doesn't? I had to go through 5 G2X's to get a good one and 3 Sensations to get a good one. My last Sensation that I've had for over a month has absolutely zero issues and definitely not any of the ones you ran into. My Sensation can actually get a WiFi signal further away from my house than my G2X can and out of the 5 Sensations I've seen in person, not one has had dust under the display. I did have 2 Sensations that ran into the touch screen issues but the one I'm using now and my wife's who has had hers for 2 months have never devoloped any touch screen issues. My wife usually complains about stuff not working on her phones but this is the first one she hasn't complained about. Ill agree that there is a lot of people who have certain issues but there is more who have no issues. Just because you got 3 bad phones doesn't mean everyone of them is bad. Hell, if that was the case, I would have gave up on the G2X long long ago before I even got my Sensation.
In the end, a brand new Sensation is worth a lot more than a used G2X. I should know since I stand to lose more money on my G2X than any other phone I've purchased at retail price.

For those of you guys who get replacements, do you pay the 20 dollar fee to get your phone replaced? Last I called to get a replacement for my dad Nokia, they said that we had to pay 20 bucks just to get a replacement. I mean after 4 or 5 phones, that's a lot of money!
Oh and 200 bucks sounds like too much. A Guy here on Craigslist was asking plus 80 for a brand new in box just got delivered Sensation.

Dude its really user preference, and user experience, like I for one love my g2x I think its awesome, was gonna get keep the sensation I had, but I didn't I honestly think the g2x is better in every way except maybe camera cuz the sensation snaps a pic with zero lag, anyways ur gonna do what your gonna do regardless I say get another g2x, I know u had bad experiences with them, but listen to me when I say there is good g2x's out there, I had mine since April, been great ever since, and don't forget every phone has its problems at launch there's no perfect device .. good luck man

I'm just torn right now this is tough. I'm hearing love stories from people with problem free G2x's and horror stories from those with buggy ones. Vice versa with the Sensation.

+1 once you get the sensation you will have to deal with new sets of problems of which btw the sensation has, and are way more wide spread than G2x.
I hope that you find a good phone that works for you.

My main concern is dependability. Does the Sensation freeze overnight, or overheat, or require a battery pull once daily? If the Sensation's problems don't hamper dependability and reliability then I will go with it.

Nope, nobody has complained of any problems like that on a wide scale. Maybe here or there but its very far and few between. Nothing like it is on the G2X. I really don't know what problems people are talking about on a large scale with the Sensation but the only one I know of on a large scale is the WiFi deathgrip when holding the phone in landscape. Everything else is petty bull**** like the screen bleed on the G2X

I called tmo today because I was under the impression that people were being offered sensations as replacements is that not true? They said they could only get me into another g2x...

im wondering the same thing & thats exactly what they told me, i hope someone has an answer for this

They only offer you another phone if you've exchanged it more than 4 times and/or they ran out of G2x's temporarily on stock.

Why you asking that here? Those people are gone and good riddance to them. Go in the other forum for the phone you want and ask did anyone get TMO to switch from G2X to this phone. Don't pollute our forums here. Thanks.

After second replacement I've switched to sensation but I'm not gone I switched back to g2x week later

Don't Hate on people for running out of patience with the G2X
It is possible to love your G2X and hate it at the same time. I finally decided to try to finagle an exchange and my helpful representative told me that if they only can offer a Sensation if they have no G2X phones available. As of Nov. 5th they had phones in stock. I was out of luck anyway because the reason I gave them was spontaneous reboots, which is in fact true and annoys my wife more than me when she can't call me. The T-Mobile representative said it was a "Known Problem" and that providing a replacement G2X wouldn't solve the problem. She indicated they are working on a new ROM that will hopefully fix this problem. I realize it is probably the 2.3.4 that was leaked and a couple custom ROMS are based on. I wish it was ICS but I highly doubt it has even been started. Once again I will have to depend on XDA to provide the support that LG seems unable or unwilling to provide in a timely manner. That lack of support is the biggest reason I would ever consider switching to a Sensation. Both HTC and XDA have far better software support for the Sensation. Frankly, I'm kinda glad I couldn't switch.
Just because you love your G2X, don't hate on someone else who has run out of patience with it's well documented short-comings. I love my G2X as much as anyone but I also hate the little things that keep it from being the best phone it should have been.
In the mean time I will enjoy waiting for the Galaxy NExus or Galaxy Note to arrive or maybe, if ICS comes soon enough to the G2X to scratch my phone itch, I'll have the patience to wait for Tegra 3 based phones to hit the market with 720p screens. That sounds mighty tasty to me.

i went through, 3 g2x's till they finally offered me the sensation 4g.. had it for a month and just got rid of it 2 days ago. now im back to the g2x lol. once i played with the g2x after not having it for over a month. all i gotta say is wow. this phone is stupid fast compared to the sensation 4g lmao. also the sensation 4g has the wifi death grip which pissed me off a lot. lol
also when i received the sensation 4g, it was refurbished and came with a 2gb sd card from adata. also it came with ****y blackberry headphones and the usb/charging cable. there was no box and they gave me a printed out version of the quick start guide lol.

You can't really blame him for being frustrated with his G2x. Mine has zero issues but that's not the case for a lot of people. Anyway, why would he post this somewhere else? It's not like they'd know anything about switching out a G2x if they don't have one.
I've heard three is the magic number. After your third, they offer you to switch. My brother switched his G2x out for a myTouch 4g Slide. Good luck.

I went through 6 G2X's before they offered me the Sensation. I ended up doing the switch, I loved my G2X as it was faster than the Sensation but i just couldn't put up anymore with the droped calls, screen bleeding and so on. I'm just glad i have a full working phone..... Now as soon as I find a cheap G2X on CL i'll be back loved the speed of my G2X.

Yes The Tegra2 chipset easily outclasses the Snapdragon S3 My friends sensation on CM7 feels no where the same.

I don't understand what people base speed on. CM7 is damn smooth on my G2x, and I love it. But CM7 on my MT4G is just as smooth... even with a single core Snap.
Apps open up in milliseconds for me on both phones. Never lags on my MT4G either, just like on my G2x. So maybe the G2x may be faster, but I am for certain the human eye can't detect the millisecond difference.

New Atrix 2 today

Holey moley what a day. I took my HTC inspire in to the att corp store nearby becaause it was having some call disconnect issues and some random problems with the digitizer. Long story short I walked out with the Atrix 2 and my upgrade in January still intact. Never owned a Moto phone before so here I am in Noob land again.

Congrats on the new phone and you got one heck of a deal! Who knows what the next best phone is gonna be as fast as they have been rolling out lately and with LTE just getting up and running you got a nice deal being able to keep your upgrade

I had the store manager and the sales guy both arguing with warranty support on the phone. I still had to BUY the atrix 2 for 99 bucks but I keep my upgrade and can send the inspire off to htc for repair. I'll sell it when I get it back.

You should have made them price match Best Buy at 49.99! But im sure you can make it back and then some selling the inspire on ebay. Enjoy your new phone!

The dev types seem to be making good progress. You'll have it back soon enough.

I managed to get a similar deal but I traded in both of my inspire 4g's for atrix 2's.
No charge, nothing added to my contract and my upgrade is still there in FEB.
I was legitimately having issues with dropped calls on my inspire and the atrix seems to have fixed the issue.

The hell I had to raise was EPIC. I'm going out of town and needed a working phone ASAP. The idiots at the 800 number wouldn't swap my phone for me for another 2 weeks, totally unacceptable. Me, the sales rep I was working with in the store, and teh nanager spent about an HOUR all together on the phone.
I ended up getting very frustrated, saying I was in the ATT corp store and would just cancel my acct. I hung up. 5 minutes later they called back and made me the offer.

My experience was the complete opposite. I had a very nice conversation with manager about dropped calls and my problems with the inspire. He offered to switch me into the ATRIX2

Looks like we are both on the same phone again. I just came over from the Galaxy S2.... had too many HW problems with it and so I decided to try something different. So for I really do like the feel of the Atrix 2 and the speed is pretty much on par with the Galaxy S2. One thing I am missing is the ROMs...... lol.... but I'm sure the will come in time.
Maybe I need to start developing.... who know...

[Q] Has anyone heard of a recall on the Sensation?

So, I was talking to a buddy at work yesterday who has a Sensation and he mentioned he had been talking to HTC Support about battery issues and after getting through several layers of people, he was told there was a recall going on for the Sensation and they offered to replace it with an Amaze4G. Has anyone heard anything about this?
He told me he talked with some manager person for some time and was really trying to get a new bigger battery like the XE one. They didn't want to do that but kept trying to give him the Amaze instead. Finally they ended up where they are going to send him a new battery for the Sensation, and they are ALSO going to send him the Amaze and told him "try it out" for a few days, and if he liked it then could he just send the Sensation and the new battery back and keep it, or if he decided to keep the Sensation he could do that and just send the Amaze back.
I haven't called HTC yet, but I did post it in their Sensation forum to see what they reply. I may call them in a few days. Actually, I really like the Sensation and was not inclined to consider trading it, but after looking at the Amaze specs and finding that ARHD runs on it, I am tempted.

After scouring Google for anything like a recall, I haven't seen anything officially said by HTC themselves.

That does sounds possible. As soon as my buddy gets his replacement battery/phone, I will update here with any more details.

My buddy had a new 1900 mah battery last night waiting when he got home for his Sensation. He has been running everything wide open and said it had barely dropped. He has not gotten the Amaze4G phone yet but it is supposed to be there tomorrow or Thursday. No replies on my HTC forum post, so I am going to call them tomorrow I think.

I havent heard anyting. if it is official it will be on their facebook page and all over the news

Final update: My buddy never got the MyTouch4G sent to him, they called and said it was backordered so he would have to wait a few weeks. He got so frustrated with his Sensation (I suspect he had hardware issues) that he took it into a TMobile store and talked them into exchanging it, he got a MyTouch4G there instead, so that is the end of that.
I never did hear anything back from HTC, they basically just said to call the warranty department if I wanted to and left it there. After doing the recently firmware update and ARHD 5.0.2, the battery is back up to the acceptable range where I can get 24 hours with my normal usage pattern, so that is the end of this thread for me too.
