[Q] Fastboot Commander - HTC Sensation

Has anybody used Fastboot Commander to flash radios, recoveries etc? I used this method with my Desire and it worked a treat as I am not totally confident pushing the files?

Everything is done via PG58IMG files (well radios are but you can do the same for recoveries as well). You just flash them in HBOOT

It will work. I used qtadb, android flasher etc, they depend on adb, not the phone model so they are good to go.

Very nice! Thanks
Anybody try this with a dream yet?

Yes this tool is usefull , flashed yesterday recovery with it and wiped phone (HTC Dream) no problems at all .
It should work with most HTC phones
I tested it on Desire HD and HTC Magic and both worked
Ok I'll bite. Trying it now. Just for clarification which is the newer version? Also will it work with Haykuro's SPL?
Thank you very useful tool..
I want to flash the new hboot en radio on my g1 to install the miuicy rom for the g1. It must be done with the hboot en the .img files.
So is it possible to flash the .img file in hboot with this app? If so then this would be the biggest thing ever, no need for android sdk then. Please let me know...

Sypher, I've linked this to the Wildfire Forum, if that's okay by you?
Seeing it works on most HTC devices, I thought it would be useful on that forum (I have wildfire) seeing there are issues with rooting, hboots etc ever since 2.2.1 arrived.
If you don't agree or don't want this, let me know, and I will remove it.
Thanks for this app anyway!

[Q] Desire S rooted needs unrooting

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, basically I bought my desire s a few weeks ago and managed to root it, then added a Rom. However I believe I need to put back a stock Rom as it needs returning owing to a faulty speaker where I can't hear it ring, the output is getting worse each day. So basically I need to know which Rom and how to do it. I have tried searching but come to a dead end, lots of help for the desire but not my desire s. Many thanks in advance.
I'm sure I saw a thread knocking about in this forum where someone described the process of returning the phone completely back to s-on stock state, but I can't seem to find it myself now either.
Iirc though, restoring back to a stock rom and kernel may be enough to override the hboot and make it s-on and without root. There's something somewhere about flashing a stock hboot I'm sure.
Sorry I can't be more help than that.

This will over ride your alpharev hboot with an Eng S off hboot flash it via bootloader or Android flasher 1.8
Once you have done this you can flash an official ruu which remove your s-off and root status

Can't flash the kernel...

Hi guys, I followed the guide on here to permanently S-off my phone and root it, so I'd be able to overclock it, change bootloaders, etc.
The guide worked fine, but when I try flashing the kernel it just aborts it. Both the cache and dalvik cache get cleared by clockworkmod, but it just refuses to do it. And then I have to restore my backup as clearing the cache somehow prevents WiFi from working.
Is there anything I can do to allow a kernel change?
Also, I've noticed that some apps like es file explorer and setCPU still think the phone's not rooted, even though I've been able to allow superuser access for an adblocker app.
Any ideas what's going on?

Does your hboot show ENG S-OFF or SHIP S-OFF?

ok now that we know ur problem, help us out by being more specific, are u using a custom rom? if not did u root your phone? or just dl superuser.... which kernel? try dling it again cause it might be corrupt.... as long as the file is goood then u should hav no problem unless the zip isnt signed.... but other then that you should be able to flash any kernel u want, is your sd card working? it could be corrupt too, the best kernel i hav tried for the sensation is brickeddd
It says ship s-off mate.
And it's currently on the standard 3UK rom build 2.3.4, standard kernel. It's all stock apart from me following the guide on here to add clockworkmod and permanently s-off. The superuser app simply appeared once I'd s-off'd. And an adblocker already sees root access and is working and visible in the superuser list, but for some reason es file explorer and setCPU say it's not rooted.
That adblocker had a pop up window requesting superuser access, but the other apps don't, they simply say it can't.

I may be wrong is saying this but I believe you have to be ENG S-OFF in order to flash the Kernel?
Try flashing Hboot-1.17.2008 and see if you can flash the Kernel after that.
fastboot flash hboot hbootname.img
Do you have a download link for it, or is it easy to find on Google?
And what's the difference between ship s-off and eng s-off?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
My understanding is that Engineering S-Off is required in order to flash new radio's and kernels, Shipped is just what comes on the phone as default.
Link is http://www.multiupload.com/QPX0XVKUXQ Once you have downloaded it copy the file into the same folder as your Fastboot and then run the command above.
You need the ENG S-OFF to flash a radio using the fastboot commands but Revolutionary puts their HBOOT on which unlocks them so it shouldn't be an issue
To the OP, does it say 'Revolutionary' at the top of the HBOOT screen?

For some reason that doesnt always work. First time I S-Off'ed a Sensation the Revolutionary Hboot was there but second time round it S-Off'ed and the normal Hboot was there

Did you use HTC's unlocking method that was posted here? If so, you need to use the fastboot from your pc in order to flash kernels. If you used the unlocking method by Revolutionary, you would see the work "Revolutionary" in a purple box and white letters spelling Revolutionary at the top of your bootloader page.
So i finished reading your post and it sounds like you used HTC's unlocking method. Post a screenie of your bootloader page for us.

That's because you didn't run Revolutionary 3 times. Ideally, the app is meant to reboot the bootloader 3 times but at present it doesn't (you get an error say it's lost communication). If you do't go through the process completely you'll get S-OFF but NOT the Revo HBOOT so fastboot commands will still be locked
For anyone interested, this is the guide I followed and did steps 1 to 3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
Hopefully it'll help you guys know exactly what I did, as I don't have a clue yet!

Flashing the Eng hboot will be far easier than messing around running the Revolutionary tool again.
Except at the moment I don't know how to do that!

I told you how on previous posts!!
Download the hboot.img from the link provided. Place this into the same folder to which Fastboot is located.
Open a command prompt, browse to the Fastboot folder and type fastboot flash hboot hboot.img
Job done.
I don't have a fastboot folder afaik.

Download and extract this file. Plonk the Hboot.img in with the rest of the other files. Follow previous instructions.
Cheers, I'll give it a go once I get back in from work.

[Q] PG58IMG help

Hey guys,
I am a noob to this device, and i am trying to install some sweet custom ICS love on my Sensation! I am following the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
and I have S-OFF! YAY!
However, Ive downloaded the CWM recovery file, renamed it PG58IMG (and it is a zip file), and then reboot it into HBoot to get it to flash, however, it reads the file, but then says no image found. I have tried this with PG58 files from several sources, including the CWM servers. Any Ideas?
regards
trev
If you have installed clockwork or 4ext rename it to update.zip and try to flash that way.
Just download from the market rom manager and install it.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using Tapatalk 2 Beta-2
In order to flash it from rom manager, don't I need root?
And don't I.need to flash that su file through clockwork mod? (which i don't have installed)

Im really sorry if im missing the point here. I downloaded superuser, but that still doesnt give me root, correct? Rom manager is still having issues running privileged commands. Im sorry if these are really stupid questions, but what do I do?

Guys, I really don't know what to do here. I got root by using htc super tool v3, and that got me root, then i installed rom manager, then flashed CWM. However, Now I am following the guide on flashing an ICS rom, and when I have to upgrade the firmware, it still says Image not Found on the firmware PG58IMG (i checked the MD5 sum and it was the same.)... Any Ideas?
Hboot version is 1.17.1111
I am really confused. When I boot into Hboot, it says S off and everything. I have 4ext recovery flashed, per the guide. Whats going on?

The file is a pd98img.zip, if your computer hides file extensions then you will only see pd98img , some people have made the mistake of renaming it because they think it should be named pd98img.zip and what they actually end up with is pd98img.zip.zip which was a very common mistake and phone will not see it in hboot. Make your computer show file extensions and make sure you don't have a double .zip in file name.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
I'm sure the file haven't double extension, I buy the to a third parter and it was rooted wen I buy it, is there a chance the phon havent s-off correctly, but if that was the case even in this situation the bootloader will find the pd98img.zip but if it isn't signed by HTC don't will installed but correctly detected

I'm no
Power phone off then power it back on holding volume down and power button at same time. It will power up into hboot where you will see s-off meaning its rooted or s-on meaning not rooted.

If I get in to the bootloader says s-off, I don't know what to do, the phone is rooted, but I been traying whit various splash images and radios and bootloader don't do anything just quickly flash

Don't mess with bootloader, ruin that and you will really regret it. Also you do know only one pd98 on root of sd card(not in any folder)
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
1) where are you getting these pd98img files. You simply can't rename any zip file and expect it to work.
2) could be an issue with SD card. Sometimes a full format will help
I download from oficial radio tread
I will try format ad and post results
Thanks

thanks a lot to all of you i backup my sd an make a full format (slow one), then i unchek fastboot on setings, and finaly bootloader find PD98IMG.zip and flash radio
