[Q] PG58IMG help - HTC Sensation

Hey guys,
I am a noob to this device, and i am trying to install some sweet custom ICS love on my Sensation! I am following the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
and I have S-OFF! YAY!
However, Ive downloaded the CWM recovery file, renamed it PG58IMG (and it is a zip file), and then reboot it into HBoot to get it to flash, however, it reads the file, but then says no image found. I have tried this with PG58 files from several sources, including the CWM servers. Any Ideas?

If you have installed clockwork or 4ext rename it to update.zip and try to flash that way.

Just download from the market rom manager and install it.

In order to flash it from rom manager, don't I need root?
And don't I.need to flash that su file through clockwork mod? (which i don't have installed)

Download superuser also on the market

Im really sorry if im missing the point here. I downloaded superuser, but that still doesnt give me root, correct? Rom manager is still having issues running privileged commands. Im sorry if these are really stupid questions, but what do I do?

Guys, I really don't know what to do here. I got root by using htc super tool v3, and that got me root, then i installed rom manager, then flashed CWM. However, Now I am following the guide on flashing an ICS rom, and when I have to upgrade the firmware, it still says Image not Found on the firmware PG58IMG (i checked the MD5 sum and it was the same.)... Any Ideas?
Hboot version is 1.17.1111
I am really confused. When I boot into Hboot, it says S off and everything. I have 4ext recovery flashed, per the guide. Whats going on?

trev

Are you super cid?

Why have you not followed the guide in the dev forum? It would have been so much easier

How do i install firmware? Virtuous ROM

Hi all! Just tried installing a new ROM, Virtous, this is my 5th rom i have installed and had no problems in the past. This one says i need to install their firmware first, so i downloaded that, booted up recovery and tried installing this zip from there but it wont install? When i try to start up the rom it just sticks at the V logo screen for 10 seconds then reboots... it keeps doing this, left it for 20+ mins but no luck!
Any help please? Thanks guys
First thing u have to have supercid. If u don't have done that the firmware won't install itself properly.
After that just put the zip on your sd card and start recovery. the firmware will install itself.

Thanks for your reply. Supercid? Im really sorry but im abit of a noob at this... where do i get this from/how do i install it?
No problem just check the guide in the development forum.I think it's step 4. you need the program adb. But the guide will tell you exactly what to do.

Brilliant ill take a look at that. Thanks alot bud
i didn't have supercid.
i just s-off and install cwm and can flash Virtuous Sensation. i don't even root my stock rom.
before flashing Virtuous Sensation, i wipe data first in cwm.
Well then you are a lucky guy..... I had to do it as described on top

Yes you have to Supercid first, if not than you cant install the firmware. Once Supercid is installed complete a FULL WIPE and reboot, if the firmware zip is detected install it and than you can install the rom.

[Q] Flashed wrong firmware while trying to root

Hey guys, I just rooted my phone and put in Virtuous's AOSP senseless ics rom. I was doing to same for my brother's, but I mistakenly updated the hboot to 1.23.000 halfway through.
What I did was:
I followed "[Guide] to installing s-off, ..."
Did step 1 and started step 2.
In step 2, instead of using the PG58IMG file for clockwork recovery, I used the PG58IMG file to update the firmware for the ics rom
The problem is that whenever I enter hboot, it checks for the PG58IMG file, and when i try using the one for clockwork recovery, it says "model id incorrect" and prompts me to press power to reboot.
Now, the phone has s-off, but doesn't have root. its hboot version is 1.23.0000.
Is there any way I can downgrade the version to 1.18 or less, or maybe get the clockwork recovery in the updated ics PG58IMG file?
Thanks in advance for the help.
I got the same error with the new firmware til I did super cid. Its easier than rooting I think. Sorry no link I'm on my phone. Just google super cid sensation xda and follow the steps in the thread.

Oh n u still have clockwork recovery. Just remove your sd card and put it in your pc. Then take off the PG58img file you installed through your pc. Then u should b able to go to recovery.

You need to superCID
follow step 4

Hey guys, a question about rooting.

My HTC sensation will be here tomorrow and the first thing I'm gonna do is install a custom ROM because I've played around with a sensation in the shop and sense 3 seems sluggish. If I'm right these are the things required to install a custom ROM:
1.S-OFF the device
2.Install recovery 5.0.0.8
3.Permanently root device by flashing su-2.3.6.3-ef-signed.zip via recovery.
4.Download and flash PG58IMG.zip via recovery.
5.Download Rom and flash via recovery.
If I got any of these wrong can you guys please tell me.
Thanks.
The new HTC Sensation phones will probably have the ICS stock ROM, which will have a HBOOT version of 1.27.00.00, revolutionary still hasn't updated their software to work for this HBOOT version. So yeah, we gotta wait.
If it Non ICS, and u need to flash ICS rom, do tje firmware upgrade as well as Super CID...so as to flash an ICS rom smoothly....

[Q] Need Help - Xe (ICS) bootloader says S-OFF but superuser says not rooted

Hi
I have a sensation xe. I rooted it before upgrading it to ICS (before is GB).
I upgraded it by flashing official ics rom due to I previously installed clockworkmod recovery which stop me from normal way of upgrade.
After upgrade everything's fine, but superuser and clockworkmod gone.
When I install superuser it says binary not found. but I checked my bootloader it says S-OFF.
What should I do?
Android - 4.0.3
Software number - 3.32.401.105
Hboot - 1.27.0000
Radio - 11.22.3504.07_M
Nevermind.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda premium
I don't know what is that, I think not.
I flashed it using RUU_PYRAMID_LE_ICS_35_S_HTC_Europe_3.32.401.105_R_Radio_11.69.3504.00U_11.22.3504.07_M_release_251961_signed.exe
If you find it locked you have to unlock first with htcdev.com but many user won't recommend it but at this time I think it the only way to unlock the bootloader, install the custom recovery(CWM) and install the superuser(root the phone).
You can get the details on this post.
But I already have it rooted before upgrade. I thought it will remain rooted? coz my bootloader shown S-OFF
OK, you have S-off. I guess you should be able to flash Revolutionary firmware from Boot loader, then use fast boot to flash the recovery, then flash root from the recovery you installed earlier and voila.
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk 2 Beta-6
Or, flash a firmware that contains recovery and then flash super user (just make sure its the correct firmware.) (I don't remember exactly where I seen this firmware, but I'm sure I have. Maybe here or somewhere else)

If you are S-Off you can root it again (because you flashed a RUU you lost root)
1) need to have a custom recovery (CWN or 4EXT). There is a nice tool to instal 4ext recovery HERE or download this PG58IMG. Just put it in your sd card and flash it from bootloader.
2) Then Download and install from custom recovery the Superuser-3.0.7-efghi-signed.zip
Done!

They don't recommend it because it doesn't unlock the bootloader completely. Read more and please don't recommend it, it's incorrect. His bootloader is already unlocked, hence he is s off. As already mentioned he needs to root and install Recovery.

Not if you flash a PG58IMG from bootloader. Done hundreds of times
If you download from Market then yes, you need root.

You got me lol. I'm used to either flashing recovery through fast boot or running revolutionary to get it installed, then switch to 4EXT through the app

Correct. By revolutionary you install CWM and then you can switch to 4ext. same as I did but in his case he doesn't need to use Revolutionary because already unlocked and s-Offed (and also because Revolutionary doesn't support Hboot 1.27). He needs just to install a custom recovery by a PG58IMG and superuser to get root again.
If the. Hboot is the issue why not just get an older one, put it in a zip called pjwhatever.zip (not sure I own a wildfire) and then just put into bootloader and flash it. He has s-off like.??

Hboot has nothing to do. The OP wants just root the phone again after upgrade to ICS.
Also, I think we are hitchhiking the thread with OT postings.
That said, this is my last post here.
For the OP: Follow instructions few posts above and good luck

Thank you so much for teaching me. I have custom recovery and superuser now in my phone.
but I have 1 more question, what is the ***LOCKED*** means in my bootloader? Is that simlock?

It means you cannot use advanced fastboot commands. You're still s off, don't worry about locked.

Did you update the firmware from stock?
Elegencia is an ICS ROM. Those require a firmware update.

HTC Dev does not unlock the radio partition to read write privileges. Only S-off will do that.

eitherway he'll have to s-off. Most of the firmware zips aren't properly signed to allow flashing on a s-on phone
S-off
So how can i get S-Off?? boot.img? where can i get that?
P.D. today i tried to install the OTA update and didnt let me

If you have Hboot 1.18.000, which if you have not updated you should have, you need to download and run Revolutionary. Go to here for a detailed guide. But relock your bootloader before you run revolutionary.
The boot.img in in the .zip file for ROM you download. You just have to extract it from the .zip and then place it in the tools folder of the SDK and use fastboot to flash it. Or you can make a flashable .zip file to flash in recovery.
You need the stock recovery image on your de ice to flash the official update file.
so i just notice that if you have the HTC sync installed in the computer, the revolutionary.exe wont run!!
S-OFF achieved!! thanks!! Now i will try to flash a ROM again!!
Thanks Guys!
careful
just be careful...need battery or else u might brick
