Hello,
Thank you it is a very useful PC tool in addition with Superoneclick for rooting the device and iapk for the management of the apk.
Very nice! Thanks
Anybody try this with a dream yet?

Yes this tool is usefull , flashed yesterday recovery with it and wiped phone (HTC Dream) no problems at all .
It should work with most HTC phones
I tested it on Desire HD and HTC Magic and both worked
Ok I'll bite. Trying it now. Just for clarification which is the newer version? Also will it work with Haykuro's SPL?
Thank you very useful tool..
I want to flash the new hboot en radio on my g1 to install the miuicy rom for the g1. It must be done with the hboot en the .img files.
So is it possible to flash the .img file in hboot with this app? If so then this would be the biggest thing ever, no need for android sdk then. Please let me know...

Sypher, I've linked this to the Wildfire Forum, if that's okay by you?
Seeing it works on most HTC devices, I thought it would be useful on that forum (I have wildfire) seeing there are issues with rooting, hboots etc ever since 2.2.1 arrived.
If you don't agree or don't want this, let me know, and I will remove it.
Thanks for this app anyway!

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum, basically I bought my desire s a few weeks ago and managed to root it, then added a Rom. However I believe I need to put back a stock Rom as it needs returning owing to a faulty speaker where I can't hear it ring, the output is getting worse each day. So basically I need to know which Rom and how to do it. I have tried searching but come to a dead end, lots of help for the desire but not my desire s. Many thanks in advance.
I'm sure I saw a thread knocking about in this forum where someone described the process of returning the phone completely back to s-on stock state, but I can't seem to find it myself now either.
Iirc though, restoring back to a stock rom and kernel may be enough to override the hboot and make it s-on and without root. There's something somewhere about flashing a stock hboot I'm sure.
Sorry I can't be more help than that.

You need to look here

This will over ride your alpharev hboot with an Eng S off hboot flash it via bootloader or Android flasher 1.8
Once you have done this you can flash an official ruu which remove your s-off and root status

Any ideas.

Ok this is how I did it I download this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15493125&postcount=1
On my lap top I extracted the zip file
Then put your phone in fastboot making sure it says fastboot usb then run Android flasher 1.8 chose hboot and browse for the .img file you extracted from the zip file earlier if all goes well you will be eng s- off then you can reflash an ruu

Has anybody used Fastboot Commander to flash radios, recoveries etc? I used this method with my Desire and it worked a treat as I am not totally confident pushing the files?
Everything is done via PG58IMG files (well radios are but you can do the same for recoveries as well). You just flash them in HBOOT
It will work. I used qtadb, android flasher etc, they depend on adb, not the phone model so they are good to go.

A very straight forward question!
When I boot my Desire I get the splash, screen after that the screen begins to flash blue and white. I think it's something to do with the partitions but I can't be sure.
Anyway, in order to flash anything I need root access. Please help!
Thanks in advance
~G~
-----------------
Solution: I was on stock Froyo so all I needed to do was flash the Gingerbread update.zip from HTCDev. That reset the partition table which was causing the problem in the first place.
Thanks for your suggestions guys!

It should be possible using the old "goldcard" method, but i havent tested this.
First download "rooting tools":
if you have a bootloader version 0.75.xxxx or below AND a current ROM of 1.15.xxx.x or below – Desire Rooting Tools
OR
if you have a bootloader version 0.80.xxxx or below AND a current ROM of 1.21.xxx.x or below – Desire Rooting Tools
Next, begin
Step 1 - set up ADB & Fastboot
Step 2 - make a gold card
Note: you will need to format card as Fat32 on your computer as you cannot boot your phone, and if you can access ADB from recovery use
Code:
adb shell cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
there. Your card will need to be in your phone for this.
Edit: you may be able to get adb while in your boot loop if you cant get it from fastboot, bootloader or recovery
Step 3 - root
Step 4 - install ROM
BTW for the HTC Desire I would recomend choosing from the following ROMs:
4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (experimental):
Sandvold's ROM (currently Evervolv prieview based)
CM9 for Desire (unofficial prieview, released by dk_zero-cool)
2.3 Gingerbread (stable):
Cyanogenmod 7.1
Oxygen
Dont think so
I dont think that you need root access for flashing using fastboot
EDIT: sorry I just saw the date
dont know if there are custom os?
I have hboot 1.02. And adb doesn't see the phone. Only fastboot usb and it's commands. I've also tried running the RUU and flashing it's update via fastboot usb. It flashes fine just still got the messed up screen
Do you have an s-off boot? If so you should be able to re flash the partitions/hboot without faffing about rooting.
Otherwize you can extract imgs partitions to the computer using Fastboot, you may be able to get CID from these if you need it.
If you get the gingerbread update for the desire from the official HTC site (no root required) and install that then it automatically has fast boot installed
Hope this helped

I have s-on which I think is the problem. How would I go about extracting to my computer?
It seams I was mistaken in thinking you can back up from fastboot - it is only for flashing to partitions
You only real option is to find an RUU from HTC (singed correctly for your Desire) which contains a fastboot, a hboot and a rom, that way you will have a working device, and can root in the normal way/downgrade to o more favourable RUU version after.
For desire the updates were 2.2 and 2.3 (although 2.3 was considered unstable due to its size and therefore space consumption)
Try these, if one fixes your main problems, you can later work on others (assuming GSM not CDMA, see thread)

Hi,
What were you trying to do?
What ROM were you on,and what firmware?
i had been trying to flash ota ics and since that, the phone is stuck at the htc bootscreen so i wanted to restore the backup or flash a official rom or custom rom but im not able to do this because the phone isnt recognized by adb in the bootloader menu and before all this it had the android version gb 2.3.4. which specific firmware do you mean? hboot version is 1.18.0000...
edit: will it work if i would flash a gb custom rom via pd98img.zip?
Happen to come across this thread and wanted to leave this for future reference. I edited it to suit the Sensation more. I also posted this in the Juopunutbear S-OFF in the Sensation Android Development.
ROM Flashing
1. Obtain a ROM of your choice, and note the location on your computer.
2. reboot your device into fastboot mode via one the following .
1. power off the device then back on with 'vol down ' + power button.
3. Wipe your device.
1. fastboot -w
4 . Update your ROM.
1. fastboot update </path/to/your/RomFile.zip>
5. Your phone will update and automatically reboot into the new ROM.

You can extract all the firmware and software images from an RUU and build them into a PG58IMG.zip... Short answer, yes. However, certain items will not flash if you're not S-off.

Will the fastboot commands.... Given by you in this thread.. Flashes the rom?
Then thnx a lot. It'll help a lot for other people... And I believe the person should at least have an unlocked bootloader by htcdev to get this work.

Yes you have to be HTC Dev unlocked or S-off to do this. But remember HTC Dev only unlocks the system, recovery, and boot partitions.

one more question
to flash rom via fastboot then the rom should be containing img's for each partition
unlike how all the custom roms here are coming (no img's for every thing...like example there is no system.img for most of custom kernels)

Elegencia is an ICS ROM. Those require a firmware update.

eitherway he'll have to s-off. Most of the firmware zips aren't properly signed to allow flashing on a s-on phone

If you have Hboot 1.18.000, which if you have not updated you should have, you need to download and run Revolutionary. Go to here for a detailed guide. But relock your bootloader before you run revolutionary.
The boot.img in in the .zip file for ROM you download. You just have to extract it from the .zip and then place it in the tools folder of the SDK and use fastboot to flash it. Or you can make a flashable .zip file to flash in recovery.
You need the stock recovery image on your de ice to flash the official update file.
so i just notice that if you have the HTC sync installed in the computer, the revolutionary.exe wont run!!
S-OFF achieved!! thanks!! Now i will try to flash a ROM again!!
Thanks Guys!
