I'm not sure if anyone has noticed this before but I was playing around with the demo model of the Sensation in my local phone shop. Typically it runs a demo video and disables any buttons but I forced a reboot and noticed that before the video started again it was running a sense-less rom. The locks creen and home screen were completely stock android. Anyone else notice this?

And your point is?
Even if it is a different ROM, you won't be getting it, you get what HTC give you and thats that, until of course you unlock and flash custom roms to your hearts content.
Go back to that shop, nandroid back up and post it up here :3

LOL..now thats funny...and a great idea.
Go back to the shop, go to Settings>About phone>Software information and make a note of the ROM name
Eddy, he can't, its locked to the demo video. Could try something else though.
Op, if its not to much to ask, go back to the shop, reboot in safe mode (instructions somewhere here on the forum) and then you should be able to check sw version.

some demo handsets have custom roms you would not want it as its not fully functional and is just loaded with demo junk. I work in retail and get asked for these all the time

I'll see if I can go back and poke around. I'll see if its functional or just a stripped rom with only sound working. I'll report back if I find anything interesting.
I went into Best Buy today, and played around with THEIR Senstion, or at least tried to.
The bootanimation is the one from the Android SDK, with the "android" logo. However, once you get to the launcher, it's the stock one from Gingerbread, though the notification bar is still the one from Sense.
However, this is were things get interesting, I booted up into the bootloader and snapped some pics from the Sensation I am returning.

What we have is a future build of Hboot. We also have some strange options like System Info and MFG Kernel.
I went into System Info and I see "touch panel-fail" but I think thats because HTC disabled it to so that you wouldn't be able to get out of the demo app.
Anyways, I'm sure this is all meaningless now that we have CM7, but it's still cool.
Very good job on the pics my friend, interesting...

Worrrrd. I got the notification right before I left work at tmo. I installed it, however, on one of the demo devices there in the store, and left mine alone for now. In a moment, I'll post some pictures of the differences in software numbers for reference.
Could we use log-cat to find the download link, similar to what was discussed with the fake G2 OTA? and would the update package itself even help?

The update was just to update the device to the production software in light of tomorrows launch. Getting a logcat of this update is very important! It can give devs a clue on what can be done to get rw access in nand. Run a logcat before you install anything. When you have it post it in the dev section for mt4g and g2.

Ive seen today that the atrix has root, I also seen that the post was made by alot of you cappy owners hero designgears. Just wondering how many are leaving? I will be sticking by htc's side. I hated my captivate for the couple weeks I had it when it was launched, such a cheap device, and was to easy for some processes and involved no work. The Inspire is where its at in my mind for now, dual core or not this ***** flys and does work for me.
Nope HTC > than Motorola as far as dev community is concerned. I'm happy with my purchase and could have pre-ordered the Atrix for the same money I was looking at for this phone.

It has root, but they still don't know if the boot loader is locked. If it is, there will be no way to install custom roms. as far as I know nobody has cracked their bootloader encryption.
As far as fastboot not working, did you hit the power button to switch to h boot to loss the image? On the SD card I had to use the instructions to get my image then I used the utility to write the image and had no problems. @gunny ya I am curious on that as well. Bootloader controls their destiny. Yes... it's because we're gadget geeks and have the attention span of a 2 year old! I got the Inspire because I couldn't wait until March 6th (the original Atrix release date) to dump my POS Craptivate.
My biggest complaint with the Inspire: No HDMI out... but I figured I'll be staring at a 4.3" screen much more often than hooking up a 4" screen phone to a TV. Also I hate where they placed the micro-usb port on the Atrix.
it just has stuff i dont need, hence finger print scanner, an outrageous priced dock. If I buy anything moto it will be the xoom
I just spoke with an Advanced Support Rep and told me that there is an OTA that started rolling out today with version 1.50 in USA.
I'm using Hypersensation so I can't check on my phone, however will check my wife's Sensation and see if there is anything available.
Supposedly it will roll out between today and sometime in January, can anyone in USA check to see if there is any update available?
Should be around 45 mb according to the Tech info.
Things that tech mention should fix:
-Power button taking screenshots
-Wifi connectivity improvements
-Screen not been responsive and glitchy
-What appears to be dead pixels but aren't
-Better battery life
I am impressed with this list as it addresses alot of the issues, he sounded as if he was reading this of a documents.

Is a tiny dot on the screen many times visible in dark backgrounds, and could be found in different colors.
Download a black background and then then if you have a stuck pixel you should be able to see a tiny dot on the screen that doesn't go away and that dot could be in many colors, Red, blue, white, etc.
Thanks Moshe!! It's very kind of you to post what the tech said to you. I hope that we get all of the mentioned updates.
I'm in WA and no updates yet, I'll check back later
Sounds good...the sooner the better!
Yeah i got one of those pseudo stuck pixels. For my situation i had two really bright white pixels on the bottom right quadrant of my screen whenever i was looking at a white background. I think it is indeed a software issue since those pixels would over compensate white backgrounds by being super bright. Although when looking at backgrounds of different colors i did not observe any strange stuck pixelation. I returned my phone for replacement because of that issue. Glad to know it wont become a reoccuring problem.

Very much so, the SG4 certainly deserved an unlocked bootloader, it's too bad that never panned out.. I had to sell my SG3 + SG4 for personal reasons.
The thing that really makes me curious about these S-OFF Demo Units is if they were like this from the start.. I bought my phone before they even had them out display (got at store at 1:40pm, they couldn't even take them out until 2pm lol)
If they were S-OFF before we had the software S-OFF I wonder if they would of let me take the Demo Unit lol, I also wonder what if any is the difference between that Demo Unit, It seemed just the software..
although with no RUU being on Demo Unit software and S-OFF wouldnt do me very much good.
Either way I found it quite interesting as I have never looked to see if HTC devices are S-OFF at Verizon..
I should have checked out the HTC M7, maybe I will tmw.

, very true.
I believe that HTC sent the phones S-OFF.
Why can't they ship them all that way lol.
I can't see why a Demo Unit would need S-OFF though.

s-off is less of the man telling you what you can do with your fone
I think they should all ship S-OFF but locked so they could say "No, it's still locked. See?"

Yes agreed, strangely the Demo Uints were S-OFF and LOCKED.
Just my guess, but the Demo Units they send have special software on them normally. For instance, after a certain period of time it looks through "demo" mode. They might have been shipped that way to allow for custom loading of system level items in case HTC wants to update them. Those devices on Display are normally Vendor (HTC in this case) owned.

weaksauce... flashify.... TWRP..... heck.. you could do the work without touching the USB port.. bluetooth file transfer over the files (weaksauce, flashify, TWRP, rom)
Now i get why people put the ipads on display into a different language at best buy... all starting to make sense

Yea, the software is def different, if you look at the pic in OP, the software is 1.12.605.11_DU ,assumingly for Demo Unit.
