[Q] T-Mobile SMS Issue - HTC One S

Good Evening Everyone. As I have a T-mobile HTC one S has anyone else had a issue with the sms notfications. The sound does not go off or nothing shows in the notifications bar. You just manually have to go into messages to see if you have a new one. This has been my second phone and it just seems to be going on.
I am sorry if this was already brought up as I have been looking in the threads for a while. And I am new to this.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Mm I see it might be a software issue any weird apps install?
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2

nothing out of the ordinary as far as apps. I did "google search" on the issue and see it is a known issue for the ONE X. So i dont know if it releated to the HTC 1 family.
I think this phone is amazing and would just love for this issue to be fixed. As I am hoping a software update will come soon.
At first I thought I was nuts but I know the phone is doing it not one phone but two thats the weird thing !!!

Strangely, I have the opposite issue on leedroid. I use go SMS so I turn off the notifications on stock messaging. Every now and then, the message notification and preview will show up on the lock screen. Seems to be no pattern
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using Tapatalk 2

Try SMS pop up. They have a notification setting in there that should take you to your original SMS program. Also more unique notification settings.

Thank you so much that app seems to help more. I seriously thought I was going crazy but my friend is also having the same issue. Anyone else out there with this issue
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using XDA

I'm having this issue too. Sometimes though, my phone will vibrate and there will be nothing on the notification bar. Most of the time I have to restart the phone and the SMS will show up. Other times it will randomly show up hours later which is really inconvenient. =^/

listen whatever you do dont download or install the update yet leave it on the screen asking about the update and contact a dev that can help pull the update then you can GREATLY help the community
Worrrrd. I got the notification right before I left work at tmo. I installed it, however, on one of the demo devices there in the store, and left mine alone for now. In a moment, I'll post some pictures of the differences in software numbers for reference.
Could we use log-cat to find the download link, similar to what was discussed with the fake G2 OTA? and would the update package itself even help?
Edit: Here's the after-image. Haven't made a before one yet.

I got and installed the update as well. My friend at HTC told me it would come tomorrow but I got it as soon as I got home tonight. The update was just to update the device to the production software in light of tomorrows launch. It's pretty much bug fixes, do far I haven't noticed the double url bar in the browser since installing it.

Ah, makes sense. I was noticing a few quirks like that. Also, I remember the slide champions getting a similar update the day before launch. I'm curious if Visionary still works.. anyone care to try?

Getting a logcat of this update is very important! It can give devs a clue on what can be done to get rw access in nand. Run a logcat before you install anything. When you have it post it in the dev section for mt4g and g2.
I might be going crazy, but it feels a little laggy after this update.

So What's the best thing from the update?

Anyone see any new functions from the new update, besides the new 3G Icon??
No reboots here. I still loose 3g often but it regains it back much quicker. Also easier to toggle LTE on and off.

I'd just like to say that I miss my old boot screen. And the new 3G icon looks like someone stepped on it. Other than that and the my Verizon app I haven't even noticed the update. My reboots stopped a few days ago, I had 4 days 9 hours and 2 minutes of uptime when I installed the update.

Please stop calling it mr2.5, we have a real MR2 out soo any radio before that is MR nothing it's just a leaked radio you will confuse people by saying mr2.5, when the actual MR2 OTA is out.

I think that is the Sense launcher app restarting. I have had it happen twice... both times I was using the web browser. The first time was right after I installed the latest Flash update, so it is possible that it has something to do with a recent update. I have also never gotten the updated Market app, but I've played with it on my wife's G2 and honestly I don't like it as much so I am not complaining.
Well that update is on tablets but some devs just extracted it out and gave it to the general public. But you should try a custom theme. When i was on stock rom, I would get the same problem but when I got a custom theme it would reduce its refresh rate.
Sent from my TripNMiUI Pyramid using XDA App
My girls sensation is having the same problem. They offered to exchange it with a g2x but why? T-Mobile said it is a known issue and the only thing that they can do is just send another sensation that will do the same thing until HTC resolves the issue but I think it is BS to pay for a phone that is having software issues. Gay!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
What the op is seeing is normal Android behaviour. When the system runs low on RAM it kills the biggest RAM hogs running in the background.
Sense is the biggest, so it often gets the boot. There are Tweaks you can do on a rooted phone to avoid this, but if you go far enough to root, then you can install a custom ROM and avoid the memory hogging bloatware altogether.

(Needs root) Add line: ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1 to the end of the build.prop file in /system - reboot. This will prevent Sense from reloading.

2 january 1970 01:00 am?

Hi! I'm using two batteries for my sensation.
But i have a problem I'm bothered with. Every time I switch battery the phone resets itself to 2 January 1970 @ 01:00 am.
My current rom is hypernonsense with bricked kernel.
Is there a way to fix the time reseting every time I switch battery?

lol yeah seriouly though
when you shut it down do you do it "gracefully" (meaning do you turn it off just before it dies and then do the switch?)
have you tried a complete wipe with and installed stock, and does it still show the same symptoms?
if it still does with the stock rom, it mean that you might have a faulty board
Yes, I always turn it off before switching. Will see how other roms can handle it tomorrow when I have time to test

I can't really help you solve your issue, but in case anyone is curious as to why it sets back to the seemingly random date of January 1970, you can read about Unix time (also known as Epoch time) here on Wikipedia:

The first thing I noticed after the update was improved fingerprint recognition. I've never had issues with my thumbs not reading, but it seemed my index fingers had to be perfectly aligned in order to unlock my phone. Now they work at off angles and much quicker.
I also promptly froze the Gear VR apps since I don't want to risk battery hits from something I won't use.
Anyone use stock messaging? I'm curious if the awful delay when trying to send a message is gone.
Just a question. With the app optimization do we still need greenery? Just wondering.

Interesting; I just had my Note5 unlocked and with my AT&T SIM in, I was able to download and install the update OTA.
Happy to see all known Stagefright vulnerabilities are now addressed.

SIM cards are used to determine OTAs for Nexus devices. But you are correct that they typically don't matter for other OEMs because each carrier gets a different model number assigned to their hardware variant.

Samsung wireless charger is supper picky, third party ones, not so much
I'm already noticing improved battery life.
Unplugged for 3.5 hours, and in the marginal LTE/H area that I am for work, I would be down 20% or more with light usage. As of now, I'm at 89%.
Is anyone else experiencing issues with Text Messages? I'm using the stock messaging app (after I started having issues with EvolveSMS). I'll get the same text messages from someone 5 to 7 times, kind of getting annoying when my S2 vibrates and get's blown up with notifications.
